David Horrigan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-horrigan-3a482a6/) joins Brian Roberts (https://www.linkedin.com/in/beeberts/) in the Attorney Lounge (https://linktr.ee/attorneylounge) for a discussion about David's career and the history and background of e-Discovery and his work at Relativity (https://www.relativity.com/).David grew up as a kid interested in genealogy and the law, actually visiting courtrooms with a briefcase to research geneaology records. David talks about attending Levin College of Law at the University of Florida where he currently serves on the Board of the UF Law E-Discovery Conference. After graduating law school, David took a non-traditional path and began his career as a reporter at The National Law Journal. Immersed in all things e-Discovery, David discusses how he makes an effort to make the topic fun and engaging. Brian and David share some stories of practicing law in higher education as David spent time early in his career representing Brown University and Brian spent a decade as the General Counsel for Grand Canyon University. David explains how he became interested in e-Discovery and learned about legal technology during the September 11 attacks when he was a reporter at the National Law Journal and was one of only two reporters to make it down to Ground Zero, writing for many days on the 9/11 attack and the resulting impact on the e-Discovery industry. As Discovery Counsel and Legal Education Director at Relativity, David talks about how he gets to enjoy the best of both worlds as a lawyer and journalist by researching, writing and presenting across the country on the world of e-Discovery.David advises law students and young attorneys to keep your options open early in your career and consider e-Discovery as a career. He talks about the intersection of law and technology and how quickly the industry has changed in a very short period of time beginning with major amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure in 2006 where the rules were modified to make clear that emails fell into the definition of what was discoverable in civil proceedings, followed by the Da Silva Moore case in 2012 where Judge Peck blessed technology assisted review, and up to today where ChatGPT has caused an explosion in the use and interest in artificial intelligence in the world of legal technology. David talks about how many e-Discovery firms got their start as litigation copying firms and offers an interesting note that the company IKON stands for “I Know One Name,” which leads to an interesting discussion about the hidden meaning behind some corporate names and logos. The discussion evolves into the history of e-Discovery, the early days of Concordance of Summation and the founding and history of Relativity which was originally named kCura (a mashup of “k” for knowledge and “cura”, the Latin root for management). Relativity understood early that the volume of electronic data was skyrocketing and the legal market needed a solution that could handle the unique demands of dealing with large amounts of data. Today, Relativity is a giant in the e-Discovery industry and annually hosts the popular Relativity Fest conference where industry leaders converge to discuss the latest developments in the industry. David discusses the implementation of AI into e-Discovery and the tools that Relativity has been developing to stay out in front with the latest technology to meet the needs of clients. Given all of the advancements in technology and its rapid adoption in the legal industry, Brian and David have an interesting discussion on the future of law and how they expect it to evolve going forward.Last, Brian and David discuss the future of legal operations and the opportunities that exist for enterprising young entrepreneurs and attorneys. The rapid development of legal ops has led to an explosion of opportunities in that field and the exciting career opportunities that have developed recently. Please visit the links below for more information on David, Brian, Relativity and Array, who serves as the host sponsor of The Attorney Lounge.Links:David Horrigan: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-horrigan-3a482a6/Brian Roberts: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beeberts/Relativity: https://www.relativity.com/Array: https://www.trustarray.com Lawyers careers

This week I speak to Irish model and mother of one Kelly Horrigan. Although Kelly delivered her beautiful little boy almost 14 months ago now, she is still feeling the long-term effects of her delivery. After her son's birth, Kelly found she had something called pudendal neuralgia, which sees her in constant nerve pain from her episiotomy scar all the way down her leg. She still struggles with it and attends physio, and could even have to have procedures in the future to stop the pain, including going to a pain management clinic for injections. Through it all, Kelly remains so positive, but she says that the after-effects of her delivery still stay in her mind even now. For any mother still feeling like they're not physically (or mentally) back to themselves, this episode will resonate. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Understanding the three centers of intelligence in the Enneagram can greatly benefit individuals in their roles as leaders, parents, and partners. By recognizing their own core motives and understanding the motives of the other eight types and the other two centers of intelligence, individuals can grow and develop personally and as leaders. Patrick Horrigan's novel, American Scholar (Lethe Press 2023) centers on James (Jimmy) Fitzgerald, who teaches American Literature at a prestigious university, is in a happy (open) marriage that allows him to enjoy a much younger boyfriend, and has just published a novel about literary critic, Harvard Professor of History and Literature, F.O. Matthiesen, who was forced to hide his love for artist Russell Cheney during a time before homosexual love and marriage were accepted. The sister of Jimmy's first serious boyfriend shows up at a book signing for Jimmy's new novel and hands him a letter that sends him spinning back to memories of the first man he ever loved. James describes his sexual awakening and recalls haunting moments with Gregory, whose self-destructive personality was part of Jimmy's impetus for writing American Scholar. Horrigan's novel, which weaves in the study of Queer Theory, Jimmy's sexual awakening, and fears of the AIDS virus then sweeping across the globe. Horrigan whips back and forth from that difficult time to 2016, when his now middle-aged protagonist is now a professor and published author, but political polarization following the presidential election has inspired new fears throughout the gay community. Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Patrick E. Horrigan received his BA from The Catholic University of America and his PhD from Columbia University. He is the author of the novel Pennsylvania Station (Lethe Press; Indie Book Award finalist for best LGBTQ2 fiction) and the novel Portraits at an Exhibition (Lethe Press; winner of the Dana Award for fiction as well as the Mary Lynn Kotz Art-in-Literature Award, sponsored by the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts). His other works include the memoir Widescreen Dreams: Growing up Gay at the Movies (University of Wisconsin Press), the play Messages for Gary: A Drama in Voicemail, and (with Eduardo Leanez) the solo show “You Are Confused”! He has written artists' catalogue essays for Thion's LIMI-TATE: DRAWINGS OF LIFE AND DREAMS (cueB Gallery, London) and Ernesto Pujol's LOSS OF FAITH (Galeria Ramis Barquet, New York). His essay “The Inner Life of Ordinary People” appears in Anthony Enns' and Christopher R. Smit's “Screening Disability: Essays on Cinema and Disability” (University Press of America). Horrigan and Eduardo Leanez are the hosts of “Actors with Accents”, a recurring variety show in Manhattan. Winner of Long Island University's David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching, he taught literature for twenty-five years at LIU Brooklyn. He has played the piano throughout his life and currently works as a tour guide at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where he lives. Learn more about your ad choices. In loving memory of John Robert Horrigan A true jack of all trades, John was an artist, fashion designer, entrepreneur, and globe trotting business owner. He launched his own brand H.uman I.nternal R.evival, which was a creative outlet for the community. H.I.R. held many events, live music promos, and special releases for clothing lines and artists. He worked alongside Maria at a screen printing shop where they dubbed him an “ink ninja” for his skills with the printing press and nicknamed him “John Collab” due to his many collaborations - some as far as Asia, where he resided for some time. A fan of UFC, mixed martial arts, and basketball, John dedicated much of his free time to training and was an outstanding athlete. A gentle giant to all. His creativity, kindness, and passion inspired everyone he came into contact with. It was an absolute pleasure having him on the show. He will be greatly missed.
Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan talked with WAKR Morning Show Host, Ray Horner, about the city receiving a $960,000 dollar grant from the federal government. The money, which comes through the Transportation Department, is designed to help communities like Akron, that were negatively impacted by infrastructure projects in the past. Horrigan talks about how Akron will use the money to repair damage done by the old Innerbelt, which was recently demolished, and which the City is hoping to redevelop in a way that will be positive for area residents.

If you want to hear about the app-less future of mobile gaming, then this one is for you.We have the CEO of the Artieverse to talk about their latest drop and their new Web3 game. We explored an evolving sector of web 3 gaming with Artie & Ryand Horrigan, and its merging of social media and mobile gaming. The common problem is that people don't want to leave the app they use all day. Web3 gaming has also become tedious and you have to basically do a whole onboard process at one time, which makes it daunting for a person who hasn't even discovered their first NFT.Bringing the ability to play mobiles game without downloading anything or having to buy anything could be a game changer... Pun intended. What does that look like? High quality games that are centered around building a community. The idea to be able to easily escape for a few minutes to play a game on the same app that you're spending most of your day on. Free to play with a base character, but if you want to flex and have a "cooler" avatar you can purchase the NFT that isn't stat based.Making gaming free opens up the audience range, and creating a really wide funnel of people who want to play which in turn creates potential buyers.

Mark is a fifty-eight years young man who lives in the Kansas City area. He is happily married to his wife, Karen, who met at St. John's College, celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary this year. Mark grew up playing little league sports in Colorado; he played basketball in high school, which earned him a ticket to play in college. Growing up in Colorado, exercise was a natural part of the culture there. From biking the trails to skiing in the mountains, Mark maintained his active lifestyle all of his life. His active lifestyle got complicated when he had a herniated disk in 2000. Having a back injury, doctors were suspicious about the thought of Mark running again. Something that helped him get back into running seemed super steep (literally). Mark discovered that the slope of the hill would ease the impact of his feet on the ground. He learned that a coping mechanism for him was being active, leading to the thought that exercise must be a part of his lifestyle. Mark found out about Dr. Donny's Running Assessment and he viewed this as a sign to better himself and figure out how to stop the pain in his lower back. Finding a sense of hope from pursuing physical therapy, Mark is on the road to feeling better learning to overcome running. Mark used the golden tidbit of finding a hill, and taking running step by step!
