Welcome back to Not A Bomb podcast, the show where we tackle cinema's biggest box office failures and decide if they deserve a second chance. This week, Brad and Troy dive into one of the biggest box office flops of 1996, Barb Wire. In the '90s, Pamela Anderson was riding high on her success with Baywatch and grabbing headlines due to her high-profile marriage to Tommy Lee. She also took on a role in a film based on a Dark Horse Comics character, which ended up being an unofficial remake of Casablanca. The experiment didn't go over well. Critics slammed the movie, and audiences stayed away from Pamela's action-packed, face-kicking, gun-slinging performance. But is the film really as bad as the critics say? Does Barbara "Barb Wire" Kopetski deserve a second chance with today's audiences? Download the latest episode and find out!Special thanks to Jose from Watch Skip Plus for joing the conversation. Hack to School month continues with Idle Hands from our hosts' awkward adolescence, and yours too (probably). The film was directed by Rodman Flender, who had a tremendous amount of restraint in taking the chance to reshoot the entire ending to ensure that it was tonally accurate to the remainder of the film. Idle Hands was written by Terri Hughes and Ron Milbauer. The team started with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and have gone on to write and produce tons of content. We talk about all of the uhm... influences? that the film relied on, perhaps too heavily in some ways, including most famously An American Werewolf in London. *Cough* Seth Green is basically just Jack, but also really good *cough* Devon Sawa plays Anton Tobias, who perhaps is named after Anton Levay... perhaps. Seth Green plays Mick alongside Elden Henson as Pnub. The team embody stoners as well as Jay and Silent Bob and spookiness as well as Reaper, Deadbeat, and even Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Vivica A. Fox is violent, beautiful hand-hunter, Debi LeCure. She aligns herself with Jack Noseworthy as Randy, the heavy metal heart throb, or whatever. Hop on in, this week we're hitchin' a ride with BREAKDOWN! Starring Kurt Russell and Kathleen Quinlan, it's a movie about a married couple who experience car trouble in the middle of the desert and get terrorized by JT Walsh and his gang of murderous yahoos. Should have had AAA. Also featuring MC Gainey and Jack Noseworthy, this movie made us anxious whenever our car started making a funny noise, but how does it hold up now?Listen here to find out! Spooktober rolls along as Troy and Brad welcome back the charismatic Charlie Gonzalez to the show. On this episode, the gang tackles the 1997 horror/sci-fi film Event Horizon. This Paul W.S. Anderson movie finds the titular Event Horizon abandoned near the planet Neptune. Listen as the guys discuss the wonky science within the film, the spooky haunted house tropes littered throughout the script, the paper folding space travel explanations, a character called Baby Bear, and Laurence Fishburne doing……..well………cool Laurence Fishburne things!Paramount Studios rushed Event Horizon into theaters because a famous director couldn’t get his movie about a ship hitting an iceberg completed on time. Ultimately, the filmmakers had to cut a lot of corners and audiences may never get to see the complete version. The film failed to recoup its $60 million budget and critics were not impressed. Does this film deserve to be labeled a "bomb"? Listen and find out!Event Horizon is directed by Paul W. S. Credit - www.jacknoseworthy.com In our next regular episode, you will hear us discuss the 1997 space horror film, Event Horizon! This is actually a movie that we all agree on, for a change. It happens to be one of our favorite horror movies for it's time!! But, for this special interview episode, we get to speak with Ensign Justin, portrayed by the talented actor, Jack Noseworthy!! You might remember Justin, as the character who is briefly pulled into the portal of the Event Horizon, and comes out a VERY different person! Jack talks about the movie, coming into his third paramount movie, and his process as an actor. This is a very unique perspective into the process, which we don't normally hear about. BUT, not only is Jack killing it in movies & TV, but he is also doing great work on the Broadway stage AND he is doing amazing charitable work through the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization!! "Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the major supporter of essential social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts. We also award annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations nationwide." Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think!
