Andy and Brendan return from the weekend with some excitement as Alejandro Tosti made it through Q-School on Sunday, securing his PGA Tour card for 2025 and ensuring another year of major league Tosti Tales. After a Swag Sports Minute about Brendan's experience at the Capitals game, it's time for the second men's major of 2024 on the Year in Review. Part 6 starts with the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Andy runs through the early week storylines such as Jimmy Dunne's resignation from the PGA Tour Policy Board and Mother Nature cancelling just one pre-tournament press conference due to a Tuesday storm - Michael Block's. From there, Brendan recaps Xander's course record 62 on Thursday, yet another hit for Blockie this week, before diving in to the madness of Scottie Scheffler's arrest on Friday morning. Jeff Darlington's tweets are read and $80 pants that were "damaged beyond repair" are discussed in this segment remembering one of the most chaotic days in golf. PJ slides in next to take the lead for the weekend, detailing Xander's transformation from housecat to bobcat, Bryson's showmanship ahead of Pinehurst, and Scottie's Saturday with the PGA Tour's chaplain on the bag. He also recalls Andy's early shouts for Justin Thomas to switch to the broom for his putting. Next, Andy shares some tales from his pro-am round with Blockie at the Charles Schwab Championship alongside the latest developments in the Scottie Scheffler case in its second week. Elsewhere, Richard Bland won the Senior PGA, leading to a hilariously passive aggressive tweet from the PGA Tour Champions announcing his victory. To wrap things up, Brendan looks back at the week of the RBC Canadian Open, won by Big Shot Bob MacIntyre with his dad on the bag. Nelly Korda makes a 10 on a par 3 at the U.S. Women's Open, a bird gets killed by a golf ball, and C.T. Pan goes through four caddies in one round in Canada. In Part 1 of Episode 30, I'm joined by Top Instructor Tom Patri and Legends Tour Pro Clark Dennis. Tom Patri delves into Xander's major triumph at the PGA Championship, the mixed sentiments towards Bryson, speculations surrounding Tiger's future following another missed cut, and the potential repercussions of Jimmy Dunne's departure from the PGA Tour Policy Board. Clark Dennis, won the 2017 & '18 Senior Italian Open and the 2017 Dutch Masters on the Legends Tour. We reflect on his illustrious career, he reminisces about winning the 1983 Texas State Junior Championship and shares his elation at the Texas Rangers winning their first World Series. Additionally, Clark offers his insights on the PGA Championship and the low scores at Valhalla. He takes us back to his standout performances at the Colonial National Invitational in the 90s and recounts a memorable encounter with the legendary Ben Hogan. Furthermore, Clark sheds light on the caliber of players and awe-inspiring venues featured on the European Legends Tour, which needs more love and support.
The USPGA is in the books and Xander has his first major, Bryson gave it a good try on behalf of LIV albeit coming up just short and Viktor emerged from his slump to show us the player we have all come to love. However, surprisingly these were not the biggest stories from Valhalla, Rory's news of impending divorce kicked off the week, Jimmy Dunne resigned from the PGA Advisory Board citing "lack of progress" with the PGA/PIF deal as his reason and then Scottie Scheffler got arrested and briefly jailed before getting bailed out and heading back to the course. Martin and Des try to make sense of the year's second major. Interact with the podcast via our Twitter/X link @ITFOG_podcast or via Instagram @ITFOG

Andy and Brendan convene for this PGA Championship preview that was an attempt to be live that quickly became marred by technical difficulties. They begin with what has already been an insanely eventful week for Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Scottie Scheffler, and the PGA Championship. Michael Block, however, began his week with a thunderstorm jamming his big press conference return. They discuss the three big favorites, the news of Rory's divorce and Scottie's child, Brooksy flying under the radar a bit, and how Valhalla sets up for all of them. They do the usual quote roulette segment from a full day of press conferences, some on the course, some on the PGA Tour board, and others on Scottie vs. Rory. They pick some of their favorite and least favorite tee times for Thursday and Friday. Then they close with news of Jimmy Dunne resigning from the PGA Tour board on Monday night citing no progress on the framework deal and what it says about the current state of things on the board.
On today's show, Ryan digs into Jimmy Dunne resigning from the PGA Tour Policy Board. What does it mean? Why can't anyone get their act together?

Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network/Michigan Golf Live Podcast Ep 403 - Alan Shipnuck - LIV And Let Die We welcome in best-selling author Alan Shipnuck to talk about the investigative work he invested into the writing of LIV and Let Die: The Inside Story of the War Between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf No journalist on the planet has taken a deeper dive into the origins, personalities, controversies, bizarre twists and turns, and soap opera dramatic moments in the formulation and fight for survival that accompanies LIV Golf and the PGA Tour's attempts to thwart mass defection. If you like "behind the scenes" stories, the latest from Shipnuck delivers big time. Alan Shipnuck, the New York Times bestselling author of Phil, returns with a major new work of insider reporting on the battle for the soul of professional golf between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-funded LIV Golf League. Over the past two years, professional golf has been at war, and Alan Shipnuck has been our most trusted correspondent on the front lines. Following closely on the heels of his bestselling sensation Phil, Shipnuck turns to the conflict that made Mickelson, and many other top golfers, villainous in the eyes of the public: LIV Golf's controversial—and belligerent—storming of the professional golf world. (LIV's unofficial motto, immortalized on hats gifted at a staff party: “F--k 'Em All.”) In LIV and Let Die, Shipnuck delivers the inside story in real time, with fly-on-the-wall reporting from the yachts where LIV was hatched and within the corridors of power as the PGA Tour flailed to fend off the threat. Shipnuck has traveled seamlessly between both tours—having countless conversations with players, caddies, CEOs, agents, financiers, lawyers, flaks, fans, and Instagramming wives—to deliver a no-holds-barred account of the most chaotic moment in golf history. Anyone who has a stake in professional golf lined up for an interview with Shipnuck—because they knew everyone else was talking to him, too. The disruption to an old, proud sport was largely conducted in the shadows, but LIV and Let Die delivers numerous revelations about what really happened, and why. Shipnuck's unparalleled access and award-winning reporting chops provide rich portraits of the brand names at the center of this sprawling tableau: Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Jay Monahan, His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Dustin (and Paulina!) Johnson, Pat (and Ashley!) Perez, Patrick (and Justine!) Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, Jimmy Dunne, and many more. Bankrolled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, LIV Golf has upended the men's professional game with vast riches—blatant “sportswashing,” from the mouth of Mickelson himself. Says Brandel Chamblee, “I think the LIV players are in a morally indefensible position, with a willful blindness to the consequences of their action, making them complicit to the ongoing atrocities.” Rory McIlroy said of playing a tournament alongside LIV golfers, “It's going to be hard for me to stomach.” But the battle to thwart LIV revealed a deeper struggle within the game. “The Seminole guys, the Augusta National guys, they're used to having all the power in the golf world,” says LIV's Peter Uihlein. “They don't like to be challenged. They're not used to it.” The bitter feuding (and trolling) between the PGA loyalists and the LIV camp made the battle between the tours deeply personal—but for the top leaders of the two tours it was strictly business, and in a series of secret meetings they reshaped the future of the sport. LIV and Let Die provides the previously unknown background and crucial context to understand the armistice between the tours that shocked the world in June 2023. Long known as the most fearless writer on the golf beat, Shipnuck has delivered another hotly anticipated book packed with juicy nuggets and in-the-room-where-it-happened action...think Bob Woodward moonlighting on the sports desk. LIV and Let Die is the definitive account of the biggest (non-Tiger) golf story this century and a lively page-turner that in places reads like a spy thriller. ---------------- Subscribe to the FGN Podcast Watch FGN videos on YouTube Check out our other sports pod: Church Pew Sports TEXT or CALL (989) 272-2383 to share your thoughts, comments, suggestions, and questions
As broadcast October 12, 2023 with more new jewels than the scale could weigh. Well, what a difference a couple weeks makes. In the second part of Jimmy's #sojusessions we discuss the uber-fast delivery service in Korea, getting couple rings on the first date and the sometimes excessive anniversary culture amongst Koreans and why they celebrate seemingly insignificant milestones. We also discuss a few legendary West African footballers, local Korean musicians and how they differ to Western musicians, as well as a couple of funny language mishaps. Something for everyone as per.
In this episode we discuss a seriously shady hagwon gig (complete with terrible living situation), Jimmy's first introduction to the legendary Pearl Jam, the phenomenon of Korean fellas being touchy/feely with each other and becoming a successful music producer (Jimmy's most successful track has more than 6 million listens under his performer name ‘Nogymx'). We also get into his progression as an artist, the feeling success brings, musical influences and how Korea has influenced his musical journey. Apologies for Josh banging around after coming in late halfway through too.

It's The Night Before the Open Championship, and the LLG gang is ready to Get Back to it. It's been a busy couple of weeks in pro golf, and The Things We Said Today include a discussion of the return of Jay Monahan to his job as the nominal head of the PGA Tour. But the Nowhere Man has yet to be seen in Merseyside this week.Duffer, OTP Lefty, and JScore touch on the performance of The Fools on the (Capitol) Hill sent in Jay's place, Jimmy Dunne and and Ron Price. Dick Blumenthal's main line of inquiry: Tell Me Why the deal had to be with the Saudis. The obvious answer, of course, is Money (That's What They Want). Jimmy and Ron had little to say about the terms of the deal before the deal, other than We Can Work it Out later. The DOJ will certainly have its say about What Goes On, as will the Taxman when it comes to dealing with the 501(c)(6) issues. As for the Open, as usual, everybody's talking about Little Lord McIlroy, who's fresh off his win at the Scottish Open. But I've Got a Feeling you know what the gang thinks of Rory's chances of winning. Baby You're a Rich Man, but you won't be a winner at Hoylake, Not a Second Time. He and his many media fanboys will just have to Wait until next year, just like they've been doing for 8+ years now.The End.
“How can the PGA Tour get its hands on Saudi PIF money?”In this Show from Dec 2022 before the names Jimmy Dunne and Ed Herlihy were news items we set the table on how a future pro golf merger would happen. Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme recap an eventful week in golf that included: Rory McIlroy finishing birdie-birdie to beat the hometown favorite Bobby Mac at the Scottish Open, Scottie Scheffler's insane streak continuing, Smylie playing twilight golf at North Berwick with Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, Smylie trying to figure out how to drive in the UK, and a Senate hearing for PGA Tour leadership.
Well, it had been a long time since they forgot to hit the record button but all good streaks come to an end. This is a re-load after it was discovered the first 25 minutes of the first run were not being recorded. NEVERTHELESS, Andy and Brendan get right back on the horse and deliver this peppy, puzzled, enthusiastic, skeptical, and amused recap of the Senate committee hearings on the PGA Tour and PIF deal. They discuss some of the Senators' antics, the performances of Ron Price and Jimmy Dunne, and the implications of their testimony. They also get into the document dump that occurred alongside the live hearing and how the picture it paints, combined with the testimony, seems to strengthen the PIF's negotiating position over the next five months. There's also a lot of reaction to some of the proposals, realistic and fantastical, in the documents as well as the botched rollout of the deal. Then the schedule for the week starts at the great Barbasol Championship with another rousing round of In, Out, Alternate? There's some Scottish Open chatter as well as LPGA and Senior Major coverage to close it out.

*Thanks to the highly-talented Jimmy Dunne (aka Nogymyx) for help cleaning up the audio on this episode after a glitch with my mic. Jimmy's one of the most prolific music producers this side of the DMZ, so If you're part of the Korea expat family you should give him a follow on Spotify or IG (and if you're not he will still take a little follow). In episode 7 of The Soju Sessions, the lads chat to Josh's coworker, Rheanna, who represents a bit of a change of pace as a younger female guest. After an excruciatingly embarrassing story to start, we discuss moving to Korea on a whim, the interview process, as well as being bitten in a club (yes, you read that right). We also touch on Korean national pride and how helpful Koreans can be, plus loads, loads more. Get on it.

Benji Nelson of Ben Nelson's Golf and Outdoors joins the show live in the BankPlus studio talking about the feelings surrounding the merger between the PGA and LIV. Benji breaks down the reality of the lack of news leaks regarding the merger and how the story seemed to be in front of everyone even before it had broken. Benji and Bo note that the merger is all about the money and they discuss the monetary benefits the players had been fighting for and will receive due to the merger. Bo notes the scarifices Jimmy Dunne most likely made when making the decision and Benji notes this may be the main reason Dunne was brought in. Learn more about your ad choices. Andy and Brendan check out for the week with this Friday episode that begins with an amusing story about their house rental for next week's U.S. Open in Los Angeles. Then they get to the battle to frame the PGA Tour merger deal with the PIF in a light most favorable to each side as everyone races to declare winners. Jimmy Dunne emerging to give interviews with his framing is covered. Also, the possibility of this deal being blocked is discussed, why that won't happen, and the implications if it were to fall apart. News hits on the announcement of TGL's first team in Los Angeles and its famous owners. They close it out with SGS Golf Advice with a funny story about being mistaken for a Tour player, an Old Course debate, and club members hollering at a high school match.
Hour 1: The Mets get swept by the Braves and Gio said this team is no different than ‘The worst team money can buy'. Boomer found a silver lining in Francisco Alvarez finding his groove and hitting 2 more homeruns. The Mets have over $80 million dollars tied up in pitchers that got lit up against your biggest rival. All three starters in this series fizzled. Gio can remember every detail from every terrible Mets loss over the years. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with the Mets blowing a 10-6 lead in Atlanta and losing 13-10 in the tenth inning. Justin Verlander talked about his terrible outing. The Yankees split a doubleheader against the White Sox. Gleyber Torres and someone named Billy McKinney hit HRs. Torres talked about the great pitching performance by Randy Vasquez. Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel was not born yesterday and will not talk about Dalvin Cook's availability. Why are the Vikings trying to get rid of him? Must be a cap situation. The Panthers beat the Golden Knights. Vegas still leads the series 2-1. In the final segment of the hour, Gio has to go to a dance recital tonight for his daughter Sabrina, and they are bringing their youngest daughter, Summer. Gio thinks that's a terrible idea since she goes to bed at 7:30pm and that's when the recital starts. Hour 2: Dalvin Cook is set to be released by the Vikings and Gio thinks he will wind up with the Jets. We also took calls on Gio having to go to his daughter's dance recital. A caller wants Buck Showalter fired, but Gio isn't sure it's his fault. The Mets have a ton of underachievers. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio from last night's Mets loss to the Braves in Atlanta. The Mets actually had some offense but the pitching was a mess. The Mets had a 10-6 lead and lost 13-10. And what's going on with Pete Alonso's wrist? The Yankees split a doubleheader with the White Sox. Luis Severino has now had bad back to back starts. Billy McKinney hit a HR but John Sterling did not have a HR call for him. The Panthers beat the Golden Knights but still trail in the series 2-1. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls offering advice for Gio going to his daughter's dance recital tonight. Hour 3: Jimmy Dunne, who is now a board member of the PGA Tour, lost a lot of friends on 9/11. Yesterday he said he is sure nobody they are dealing with had anything to do with the attacks on 9/11. Then he said, if he finds out someone he's now working with was involved in the attacks he would ‘kill them himself'. Jerry returns for an update and it's starting to sound like Pete Alonso is going to miss a decent amount of time. The Mets get swept in Atlanta, losing 13-10 last night in ten innings. Boomer slurps his oatmeal for Gio to celebrate his birthday tomorrow. Jose Ramirez hit 3 homeruns against the Red Sox last night. Jerry Jones tried to compare player negotiations with marriage and it was very confusing. Jerry played the game winning goal for the Panthers as they beat the Golden Knights in OT. Jerry has the audio of Jimmy Dunne on the Golf Channel saying he would kill anyone he's dealing with if they were involved with 9/11. In the final segment of the hour, last night Las Vegas police responded to calls about aliens falling from the sky. We played news coverage from CBS in Las Vegas. Hour 4: Boomer thinks Craig Carton and Mark Chernoff could be aliens visiting us from another planet. Gio thinks Chris Russo could be an alien. We all had theories on who the aliens are. Al thinks they are humans coming back from the future. We do have some Pete Alonso news. Based on Buck Showalter's reaction to a question last night and the continuing testing of his wrist, it seems like he's headed the IL for weeks. Gio said it feels like we are just waiting for horrible news on Alonso. Jerry returns for his final update of the week and has some sound from last night's Mets loss in Atlanta. They led by four runs and still lost in ten. Andy Reid talked about the food that was served at the White House. Frank Reich named Bryce Young the first team starter. The Panthers beat the Golden Knights in overtime. They still trail in the series 2-1. Jerry previews game 4 between the Nuggets and Heat. In the final segment of the show, it looks like Pete Alonso is going to miss time with a wrist injury. This coming during a six game losing streak feels like rock bottom. The Belmont is tomorrow and there's still a chance it could get canceled if the air quality is terrible.

The PGA Tour ended its expensive fight with Saudi Arabia's golf venture and now is joining forces with it, making a stunning announcement of a merger that creates a commercial operation with the Public Investment Fund and the European tour. As part of the deal, the sides immediately are dropping all lawsuits involving LIV Golf. From the golf side, still to be determined is how players like Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson can rejoin the PGA Tour after defecting last year for signing bonuses reported to be in the $150 million range. From the commercial side, the governor of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund joins the PGA Tour board of directors and leads the new business venture as chairman, though the PGA Tour will have a majority stake. News of the deal came as a surprise to many watchers of the lawsuits and Saudi Arabia's inroads into US politics, sports and culture. “This is a huge development and obviously upends a world of golf, which has been perhaps more tradition-bound in the past,” said Kristian Ulrichsen, a Middle East fellow at Houston's Baker Institute. Under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund has made a point of seeking investments, like LIV, where it could shake up existing industries, Ulrichsen said. “That's sort of one of their mantras, to try to be disruptive and to take on the status quo,” she said. “And in this case, they seem to have succeeded.” As for PGA Tour players, most were bewildered by the shocking turnaround. It didn't help that a news outlet broke the embargoed announcement before PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan could send a memo to the players. Most learned of the development on social media. “I love finding out about morning news on Twitter,” two-time major champion Collin Morikawa tweeted. Many were not happy. Wesley Bryan tweeted, “I feel betrayed, and will not ... be able to trust anyone within the corporate structure of the PGA Tour for a very long time.” Byeong Hun An added on Twitter: “I'm guessing the liv teams were struggling to get sponsors and pga tour couldn't turn down the money. Win-win for both tours but it's a big lose for who defended the tour for last two years.” The announcement comes a year after LIV Golf began. Monahan was at the Canadian Open that week and said pointedly about any player who joined LIV or was thinking about it: “Have you ever had to apologise for being a member of the PGA Tour?” Now they are partners, giving Saudi Arabia a commercial voice in golf's premier organisation. “They were going down their path, we were going down ours, and after a lot of introspection you realise all this tension in the game is not a good thing,” Monahan said in a phone interview with the Associated Press. “We have a responsibility to our tour and to the game, and we felt like the time was right to have that conversation.” Monahan was headed to Toronto to meet players at the Canadian Open, though most top players are not there. And while this likely will only lead to greater riches in golf, there still was explaining to do on why the tour would merge with a group that tried to take away some of the PGA Tour's best players and was seen as the latest example of “sportswashing”. “I understand the criticism,” Monahan said. “For me, you take the information you have at the time and make decisions in the best interests. Things have changed. This was the right time to have this conversation.” The deal was in the works for the past seven weeks, when Monahan met Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of the Public Investment Fund. Players typically approve changes to the schedule and other competition matters. On this one, they were left out. “No one had word of this,” Monahan said. “Our players expect us to operate in the best interests of the tour.” PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. Photo / AP Instead, he cited guidance from corporate members of the PGA Tour board. Still, Monahan has his toughest work ahead of him. He sought loyalty from his players against a league accused of taking part in sportswashing, an attempt by Saudi Arabia to shift focus away from its human rights abuses, such as the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Now the very group that posed such a threat is now the PGA Tour's commercial partner. Along the way, PGA Tour players also got rich. The tour raised prize money at elite events to $20m, the same purse for LIV's individual competition. The 2024 schedule has been reshaped for roughly 16 tournaments like that. “In the short term, I expect a lot of questions and criticism,” Monahan said. “In the long run, players who stayed with the PGA Tour will see they benefited in many ways.” The agreement combines the Public Investment Fund's golf-related commercial businesses and rights — including LIV Golf — with those of the PGA and European tours. The new entity has not been named. Al-Rumayyan will join the board of the PGA Tour, which continues to operate its tournaments. The PIF will invest in the commercial venture. “From the very beginning, the whole initiative was how to grow the game of golf,” Al-Rumayyan said. “And I think what was achieved today was exactly that.” Augusta National and the Royal & Ancient welcomed the news because it ends the bitter feud. Augusta National said the deal “represents a positive development in bringing harmony to men's professional golf”. R&A CEO Martin Slumbers said it would help golf “move forward in a collaborative, constructive and innovative fashion”. As for the new role of Greg Norman, Al-Rumayyan said only that Norman is LIV Golf's commissioner and details of his future role would be announced in the coming weeks. Monahan's memo to players indicated a strong Saudi Arabian presence. He said PIF would make a financial investment to become a “premier corporate sponsor” of the PGA Tour, the European tour and other international tours. The PIF initially will be the exclusive investor in the new entity and will have the exclusive right to further invest, including a right of first refusal on any capital that may be invested. Al-Rumayyan has been spotted wearing a “MAGA” hat during LIV events at courses owned by former President Donald Trump. Former US President Donald Trump plays a shot during the pro-am at the Bedminster LIV Golf Invitational in July last year. Photo / Getty Images Trump predicted last July that a merger was inevitable and said anyone not signing with the Saudi league would be losing out. He weighed in Tuesday and called it a “glamorous deal for the wonderful world of golf”. Monahan said the merger came together the past seven weeks, with PGA Tour board member Jimmy Dunne responsible for bringing together Monahan and Al-Rumayyan. Dunne and Ed Herlihy, chairman of the PGA Tour's board, will serve on the board of the commercial venture. Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau were among 11 players who filed an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour last August. LIV joined as plaintiffs, and the PGA Tour countersued. The concern for PIF was whether its leaders could be deposed, which Saudi Arabia wanted to avoid. Being open to depositions would leave the kingdom's leaders more vulnerable to legal action, including lawsuits demanding they reveal business deals in the United States. A federal judge had ruled the PIF could not claim immunity from the Foreign Service Immunity Act because of its commercial work with LIV Golf in the US. The PIF appealed the ruling to the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals, which was likely to extend the lawsuit deep into 2024 if not longer.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The ninth episode of TG Talk features songwriter, entrepreneur, and SAE alumnus, Jimmy Dunne. Let's get real. What you think post-graduation life will be like may not be a reality. Don't worry; we enlisted Jimmy to tell us the truth about what really happens after graduation. Have you ever scaled a wall to get an interview? We don't recommend it, but Jimmy has. Although considered by many to be a renaissance man, Jimmy is, first and foremost, a musician. He has studio albums and successful covers recorded by big names such as Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Kenny Rogers. Jimmy's songs have been recorded on 28 million records, in addition to scores, songs, and themes featured in over 1500 television episodes and dozens of films. Additionally, he is the Founder and CEO of Inspire. Inspire assists colleges and universities in composing and recording official university music and incorporating music into its overall culture. Jimmy also has experience as a television writer and producer, working on hit shows such as Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi. Foundation CEO Steve Mitchell interviewed Jimmy about his extraordinary career and how he got his start. Jimmy gets real about what you need to do to succeed after college. While we don't recommend using your musical talents to get out of paying the bill at a restaurant or scaling the fences at Paramount Pictures to get a job, we do think that Jimmy has a ton of great advice for undergraduates and young alumni who are starting in their careers.
