A week ago, I interviewed John Hathaway for Mike Maloney's GoldSilver YouTube channel. John is a legend in the hard asset investment world. And he shared a number of valuable predictions about where he sees the precious metals headed from here. So, with Mike's kind permission, I'm now sharing the interview here with you, on Wealthon. But enough backstory... After holding their own in 2022, a horrible year for stocks and bonds, the precious metals -- and the companies that mine them -- are positioned very well to deliver superior results here in 2023. To learn why, we're extremely fortunate to be joined today by John Hathaway, Sprott Managing Director and one of the most respected precious metals portfolio managers in the industry. ************************************************* At Wealthion, we show you how to protect and build your wealth by learning from the world's top experts on finance and money. Each week we add new videos that provide you with access to the foremost specialists in investing, economics, the stock market, real estate and personal finance. We give you strategies for financial security, practical answers to questions like “how to grow my investments?”, and effective solutions for wealth building tailored to 'regular' investors just like you. There's no doubt that it's a very challenging time right now for the average investor. Above and beyond the recent economic impacts of COVID, the new era of record low interest rates, runaway US debt and US deficits, and trillions of dollars in monetary and fiscal stimulus stimulus has changed the rules of investing by dangerously distorting the Dow index, the S&P 500, and nearly all other asset prices. Can prices keep rising, or is there a painful reckoning ahead? Let us help you prepare your portfolio just in case the future brings one or more of the following: inflation, deflation, a bull market, a bear market, a market correction, a stock market crash, a real estate bubble, a real estate crash, an economic boom, a recession, a depression, or another global financial crisis. The US dollar's strength is not good news for everybody. According to John Hathaway, a portfolio manager of Sprott Hathaway Special Situations Strategy and co-portfolio manager of the Sprott Gold Equity Fund, the dollar wrecking ball represents the last stand for paper currencies. For Hathaway, as the US dollar weakens and Fed officials resort to more quantitative easing, gold will appreciate. Regarding the recent event in which the gold price increased by over $50 three times in four days, Hathaway argues it is a response to negative news for financial markets, such as interest rate rises. In our weekly Inventa Capital segment, Michael Konnert, CEO at Vizsla Silver Corp. (TSX-V: VZLA; NYSE: VZLA) reports on the company's new stock issuance. Having raised almost $30 million, Vizsla is fully funded for the next year, in which the company will continue with drilling at the Panuco silver-gold project located in Sinaloa, Mexico, and move towards production. Ryan Frederick and Paul Fontaine are back to talk about the week that was and is to come in the world of MMA. A story that was starting to break as the guys recorded is that there will be no fans or media members at the Apex this coming weekend for the ESPN+ show headlined by Mackenzie Dern and Xiaonan Yan in a strawweight fight. The reasons are unknown at this time but more should come out as the week progresses. Before getting into that, the guys talk about the stunning debut of Raul Rojas Jr, the 17 year old who won a UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series this past week. They then go over a few of the non-UFC shows in a busy upcoming week in MMA including One FC's second show on Amazon Prime featuring Angela Lee in the main event. We are discussing a brand new series with our chat about Neil Gaiman's The Sandman Chapter 1 "Sleep of the Just" on Netflix. We will be discussing each episode of the series in spoiler filled detail. The Sandman Chapter 1 "Sleep Of The Just" Details Episode Directed by Mike Barker Teleplay for this episode written by Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg In 1916 in the Realm of Dreams, Morpheus, the king of dreams and nightmares, learns of the escaped nightmare “The Corinthian” and travels to Berlin to confront him and stop his murdering spree. Meanwhile in Wych Cross England, Roderick Burgess makes a pact with Dr John Hathaway to capture one of the Endless, Death, to compel her to return their lost sons. But the incantation doesn't work as expected and they trap another of the Endless, Morpheus. Dragged from his confrontation with the Corinthian and trapped, Dream silently vows vengeance on Roderick Burgess. With guidance from The Corinthian, who wants to keep Dream trapped, Roderick uses the power of Morpheus's powerful Helm, Ruby and pouch of sand to make his dreams come true. Over decades Roderick bargains and rages with Morpheus to bring back his son. Failing that to give him power, wealth and immortality. But Morpheus remains silent. Roderick's younger son, Alex Burgess, will do anything to impress his father, including killing the Raven guardian of Morpheus, Jessemy. This is unforgivable but still Morpheus remains silent. As the years pass, the frustration in the Burgess family overflows and Alex accidently kills his father. But in the aftermath Alex finds a new love, Paul and they spend many more years trying to convince Morpheus to leave without hurting them. But Morpheus remains silent. After a century in captivity and without a word spoken, Paul breaks the incantation which bound Morpheus and, before finally returning to his realm, he punishes Alex, forcing him into eternal sleep. When Morpheus arrives back to the land of dreams he is met by his librarian, Lucienne, who reveals that the realm has changed without the King of Dreams. Most of the dreams and nightmares have left and the land is in disrepair. But Dream built this place before and he is resolved to build it once again. The Fed's recent rate hike provides the backdrop for an insightful conversation with guests John Hathaway and Fred Hickey. The two market veterans discuss Fed policy, inflation, investor sentiment and other factors that have created an interesting set up for gold and gold miners.
This week on Down to Business, Sprott Inc.'s Peter Grosskopf and John Hathaway talk about why gold had been trending down for much of the last year even as it nears an all-time high.
In this episode of the Augusto Digital Insights podcast, Brain Anderson sat down for a conversation with John Hathaway, Senior Specialist for AWS' Amazon Chime SDK, to discuss his career journey and the implications of real-time communications for business. Even as technology has changed and evolved, there is one thing that remains constant: our need to communicate. In this episode of the Augusto Digital Insights podcast, Brain Anderson sits down for a conversation with John Hathaway, Senior Specialist for AWS' Amazon Chime SDK, to discuss his career journey and the implications of real-time communications for business. John says telecommunications run in the family. He started his career, after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Computer Telephony Integration, by selling hardware for AT&T. From there, he held positions at Lucent, Avaya, Plantronics, and Sennheiser, where he developed the knowledge and connections that led him to the team at Amazon Chime SDK. Chime SDK allows companies to build communication primitives into their own platforms and applications for a seamless end-user experience. As Brian and John discuss the business uses of Chime SDK and the quickly-expanding landscape of Artificial Intelligence Markup Language (AIML) and sentiment analysis, John explains the widespread implications of AIML. AIML's ability to analyze, report on, and make real-time decisions based on things like tone and body language is filling the gap in virtual communication and allowing businesses to enhance customer interactions and experiences like never before. This integrated technology became especially important during COVID. John indicates that, while the fastest growing vertical for AWS Chime SDK over the last year and a half has been telehealth, they've also seen immense growth in the realms of distance learning, virtual events, and wellness and fitness. It's clear that the sky is the limit on where this technology will take us in the future. Thanks for tuning into this conversation on the Augusto Digital Insights podcast. “If you wear your hat as a value investor or as a contrarian, you have to be interested in gold stocks.” - John Hathaway Host Ed Coyne is joined by Senior Portfolio Manager John Hathaway for an informative discussion on gold equities. Topics include: the effects of interest rates on gold, how the miners are performing in today's climate, differences between gold mining equities and the S&P 500 and the Sprott Gold Team's process for evaluating gold stocks.
Tom welcomes returning guest John Hathaway. Mr. Hathaway is a Portfolio Manager of Sprott Hathaway Special Situations Strategy and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Sprott Gold Equity Fund. John discusses traditional portfolio weightings and why they no longer work. Bonds today are return-free risk, which opens the door for gold since something has to replace bonds. Some large pension fund advisors are considering gold as a risk mitigator. He discusses the supply of debt and why interest rates have to remain at these levels. Debt to G.D.P. could easily reach 160% in the coming year or two. Deficit spending is keeping the consumer alive, but there will be a lot more money spent. A vaccine could create some optimism for the economy, but that's probably not enough to offset the spending. Many experts are calling for a 30% decline in the dollar from here. The dollar will weaken, and gold will find its way into institutional portfolios. Today, there is about 100 trillion in wealth under management, and if one trillion of that moves into gold, that will represent six years of mine supply. John explains how relatively small gold price moves can have an outsized impact on gold producers' profit margins. These stocks remain quite undervalued when considering their free-cash-flow yield. Gold remains hated and is still on the fringe, but that makes it an excellent opportunity since the fundamentals have only been improving for gold. Friday, stocks were a non event yesterday but there was ample news on the jobs front. First time claims rose but continuing claims fell and because of California's inability to report accurately we don't know if the numbers are correct. California's claims make up 25% of the nation's claims. An article in the Blade quotes Challenger, Gray and Christmas as reporting that there are 301,000 job openings for holiday staffing. That's more than 2019 before the pandemic. The Presidential election has the potential to have a big impact of your investments but according to John Hathaway one thing you can expect no matter which candidate is elected. Quote, "Whatever the electoral outcome, the path towards monetary debasement is bipartisan."

Etter en relativt traust måned serverer Dana White & co endelig litt fyrverkeri under UFC on Fox: Machida vs Rockhold. Vil helgens kort omkalfatre mellomvektsdivisjonen, eller vil det skape nok en blokkade i toppen av divisjonen?

Sentiment toward gold investments has become much more bullish than when this week's guest, John Hathaway, began managing the Tocqueville gold fund in 1998. Then, almost everyone spurned gold in favor of paper investments. Buying undervalued asset classes is a successful strategy employed by Tocqueville. But now, as the mood toward gold turned positive, are we nearing the end of the gold bull market? Or not? What about gold mining shares? Is it possible the economics for gold mining could be improving, even if the metal itself levels off in nominal terms? What are some of the qualities the Tocqueville Gold Fund seeks when picking stocks for its portfolio? What are some of the fund's largest holdings? What is the fund's track record? When might investors look forward to a growing, healthy U.S. economy that would allow us to invest in sectors other than gold? What other funds does Tocqueville offer? How can you buy Tocqueville shares? John will explain all and more.
