Human Traffic (1999) is a British-Irish coming of age comedy drama set in Cardiff. It revolves around the lives and specifically one big night out for a group of five twenty-somethings. It launched the careers of John Simm and Danny Dyer and was written and directed by Justin Kerrigan. It also featured cameos from DJ Carl Cox, Howard Marks and Andrew (Egg) Lincoln. Jip, Lulu, Koop, Moff and Nina are in need of an escape from the monotony and misery of their jobs and the weekend is here. They are all dealing with their individual insecurities and personal issues but are united by their love of 90s rave music and drugs - including MDMA and weed. As we follow them from the club to the after party to the morning after we experience the hedonistic fun of the 1990s counter-culture. Human Traffic is a unique and funny snapshot into 1990s club culture. Recommendability reflected that a lot of the enjoyment relies on 90s nostalgia and its 99 minute runtime helped with strong engagement scores which gives Human Traffic an overall rating of 3.81.

Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who Podcast

This week, we're hanging out in a mystical London street full of Sontarans, Judoon and Cybermen, investigating a murder with Johnny Spandrell — only to find, to our horror, that the murder hasn't happened yet. And, of course, that it's time for Clara Oswald to Face the Raven. Notes and links Fridging or Women in Refrigerators is a trope in which a woman is murdered and the emotions of her male parent/lover/friend become more important to the narrative than the death of the woman herself. This article from The Guardian discusses its use in Strangers, an ITV drama in which our very own Devla Kirwan's death evokes trauma in her husband, our very own John Simm. You can find links to the videos shot by Rufus Hound during the shooting of The Woman Who Lived in the shownotes for Flight Through Entirety Episode 272: John Scott Martin in a Zarbi Suit. China Miéville's novel Kraken (2010) also depicts a London with secret hidden streets, these ones full of monsters and cultists. (It also features a villain called the Tattoo, who is literally a crazed sentient tattoo.) Rigsy's offscreen girlfriend Jen, who we hear on the phone but don't see, is played by Naomi Ackie, who goes on to star as Whitney Houston in the 2022 biopic Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody. And here's a story in Entertainment Weekly about the controversy surrounding Letitia Wright's weird tweet about the Covid vaccine. And if you're feeling down, you should cheer yourself up with this 2015 story from The Guardian about Jeremy Clarkson's cancellation. Follow us Nathan is on X as @nathanbottomley, Brendan is @brandybongos, Simon is @simonmoore72, and Johnny is @JohnnySpandrell. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam. You can follow the podcast on X at @FTEpodcast. We're also on Facebook, Mastodon, and Bluesky, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on Apple Podcasts, or we'll hack Google Maps and render your entire street completely fictional. And more On 27 November we'll be launching a Doctor Who flashcast called The Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire. Like Jodie into Terror before it, The Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire will be released a day or two after each new episode of Doctor Who and will contain our ill-considered and half-baked initial reactions to the episode. Keep an eye out on the new podcast website or on our social media accounts for details. Our second newest podcast is Startling Barbara Bain, our Space: 1999 commentary podcast, whose first episode was released just a couple of weeks ago. In that episode, we talked over the show's pilot Breakaway, in which the moon is hurled from its orbit by a terrible nuclear explosion. We're hoping to release Episode 2 next weekend. Maximum Power is continuing its journey through Series C of Blakes 7. This week, the crew of the Liberator run into a strangely disappointing figure from Auron mythology in Dawn of the Gods. And finally, there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. This week, they watched perhaps the worst episode of the entire Star Trek franchise, the Star Trek: Voyager episode Threshold.

Peter James is a distinguished UK No. 1 bestselling author, renowned for his gripping crime and thriller novels. He is most celebrated as the creator of the beloved fictional character Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. With an impressive track record of 19 Sunday Times No. 1 bestsellers, Peter has garnered a global readership, amassing over 21 million copies in book sales to date, and his works have been translated into 38 languages.Stop Them Dead, the latest riveting addition to the Roy Grace series is slated for release this September. This compelling tale unravels when a young farmer confronts intruders in the dead of night, unwittingly setting off a chain of events that culminate in his tragic demise. What makes this crime even more sinister is the shocking motive that drove the perpetrators to kill. As Detective Superintendent Roy Grace delves into the investigation, he quickly realizes that this is not an isolated incident, but rather the crest of a nationwide crime wave. Organized gangs, driven by insatiable greed, are raking in illicit profits from the illegal trade in dogs, surpassing even the gains from narcotics. In a race against time, Grace finds himself locked in a deadly battle against ruthless adversaries who will stop at nothing to protect their interests. In Stop Them Dead, Peter James not only weaves a fast-paced thriller but also exposes a profoundly dark underbelly of the dog trade. His narrative pulls back the curtain on the sinister machinations that fuel this illicit industry, shedding light on the chilling reality behind the seemingly innocuous world of pet ownership.Peter's literary prowess is evident in his meticulous attention to detail and his adeptness at creating multidimensional characters. His detective, Roy Grace, embodies the quintessential traits required of the ultimate fictional detective: keen observational skills (25%), unwavering attention to detail (24%), exceptional problem-solving ability (23%), intelligence (23%), a razor-sharp memory (17%), and a healthy dose of patience (13%). These qualities converge to form a compelling and relatable protagonist, guiding readers through the intricate web of mysteries Peter James expertly spins.Intriguingly, Peter James draws inspiration from the world around him, much like his readers who find their heroes in their parents and their femme fatale in their closest confidants. For Peter, the genesis of his villains can be traced to experiences with ex-partners, while the impetus for his heroes often stems from reflections on the relationships he shares with his parents. As the release of Stop Them Dead approaches, Peter James is available to share insights on what distinguishes an exceptional fictional detective and the wellspring from which he draws inspiration for the indelible characters that populate his bestselling novels.ITV's immensely popular adaptation of Peter James' Roy Grace novels continues to captivate television audiences, immersing them in the world of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace. Filmed against the vibrant backdrop of Brighton, the series stars John Simm as Roy Grace and Richie Campbell as DS Glenn Branson. With the renewal of the series for a fourth season slated for 2024, fans can eagerly anticipate more thrilling episodes. The first three series are available for streaming on ITVX and Britbox. John Simm stars in new ITV drama Strangers as a man who has to fly to Hong Kong to identify his wife's body, only to discover she has a secret other life. We talk to the actor about filming the thriller in Hong Kong and why he's so often cast as an everyman figure. In Moby Dick, Captain Ahab vows vengeance against the white whale which took his leg and chases him around the globe. In his new book for young adults, And the Ocean was Our Sky, the award-winning novelist Patrick Ness inverts this. Bathsheba is an apprentice in a pod of whales who hunt humans and her captain is determined to track down a legendary white whaling ship and destroy Toby Wick. Patrick Ness tells Stig Abell about his motivation to write his story and what this interesting reversal allows him to explore. For our Inspire season we commissioned three artists to make a piece of work for us, we catch up with rapper and playwright Testament to see how he's getting on. The team behind ace action thriller Tango One, Trish Rybarczyk & Sacha Bennett sit down with Giles Alderson (The Dare) and Dan Richardson (Retribution) in Just Voices Studio to chat about how they made it. Trish started out working on Scorsese's The Departed and American Gangster and Spiderman3. Got to see how a huge company worked on set. She wanted to learn the craft of filmmaking and not jump into it. So did loads of jobs in film to get the experience. Sacha “Id still argue being on set, watching a film play out is the best film school” How Sacha worked as an actor on Blackadder and the amazing learning experience he had from that. "Even if it's you going out with some mates and an i-phone, by doing some acting you'll become a much better director that way" If you've been a runner and had to mop up the toilets you understand the vitals of that. If you are making a short, just ask actors. They are always looking for work After Sacha made Devilwood, the investors asked if he could make a feature for 150k, so he quickly went through the scripts he had and made it work with Tuesday his bank heist film Getting his cast of John Simm, Kevin McNally and Ashley Walters. How they made Tango One. Getting all the money from the investor and getting Universal on board. Only issue with that is having to wait behind the big releases to come out first and hoping yours is next. But hearing the universal theme on at the beg of your movie is incredible. How adapting a book can be difficult and ho turning away from the book and changing the character can be very benificial. And changing the dialogue to fit. How they didn't want it to be a gangster film. Making Tango One more international and thriller esk and less London drug dealers . It's all about prep. If you want something done do it yourself.
