In today's second hour, Dom welcomes in Fallon Zecca and Chris Gramm of Karens for Hire, a group dedicated to holding customer service representatives and companies responsible after a customer has been wronged. The group, who has done radio rounds, though, has recently seen their information and interviews removed due to the term ‘Karen' now being deemed offensive. Gramm and Zecca, who have become victims of the policing of language, lay forth the purpose of Karens for Hire, telling Dom of the successes they've had in receiving fair resolutions for their clients. Then, Dom continues the hour by discussing multiple topics, first going over to the world of sports based on our side topic, asking for pioneers in their industries, telling about the Gogolak brothers who were the first to kick a football like a soccer ball. This leads into a discussion about the new mascot for the Washington Commanders, with Dan reporting how even local fans are over the name change and want to return to the ‘Redskins' moniker. His warnings proved to be prophetic. In 2022, how do we begin to reform the surveillance state?  5:00pm- Gabriel Nadales—National Director for Our America—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Stanford University's new list of harmful language which includes words like master, gangbusters, and blind study. Nadales also tells his amazing life story—immigrating to the United States from Mexico and briefly participating in activist   organizations like Antifa before ultimately rejecting the ideology and embracing freedom of speech, unity, and American values.   5:30pm- Is Rich about to be cancelled? Stanford University's Elimination of Harmful Language Initiative (EHLI) has created a comprehensive list of offensive language that should no longer be used under any circumstances—Rich reads the list on-air anyway! 6:00pm- While speaking with the press, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell defended the proposed $1.7 trillion omnibus bill by arguing, “providing assistance for Ukrainians to defeat Russians is the number one priority for the United States.” The measure sends an additional $44.9 billion in military assistance to Ukraine.  6:15pm- The Biden Administration has formally asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow for the end of Title 42.   6:20pm- Zeoli is preempted for college basketball…again!

This kicks off a discussion between Dom and his producers Dan and Jim about the importance of the parade to the city, with both telling stories about parades in the past. Christopher Paslay, author of A Parent's Guide to Critical Race Theory, rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to lay forth exactly how Critical Race Theory is being infused into curriculum throughout the country, despite claims by Progressives that the method isn't being used in schools. Giordano asks Paslay for an answer to the claims, with Paslay responding that in Virginia they are indeed teaching it under the term “critical race theory,” but tells that it's being reframed and called by other names including diversity and equity. Then, Giordano asks Paslay for questions that parents should be asking to determine whether their schools are utilizing the prejudiced approach, and reveals a litmus test in his book. Then, after the interview, Dom moves things back locally, playing back clips from Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. Giordano, after hearing the weather, laments that the Mummers Parade is again in question, which Dom suggests as a negative for the city as a whole. Then, Giordano and his producers Dan and Jim throw around predictions for what they think they'll see if there is a parade on Saturday. Then, Giordano brings back up the issue of ghost planes, discussing the media framing of the controversy as a humanitarian positive for Democrats. We know that the history of theatre and performance contains plenty of insensitive, even offensive, tropes and stereotypes. We also tend to think of ourselves as having left those stereotypes in the past, where they belong. However, as this week’s guest reveals, our popular culture still contains plenty of uncomfortable reminders of those types, and they’re often woven into the fabric of beloved cultural institutions in a way that forces us to come to terms with them, rather than simply pretend that they have nothing to do with us. Dr. Christian DuComb, author of Haunted City: Three Centuries of Racial Impersonation in Philadelphia, joins us to talk about how these complicated issues appear in the figure of the “mummers wench,” a fixture of Philadelphia’s Mummers Parade for decades. The “wench” hearkens back to the nineteenth century and the days of the minstrel show, serving as yet another reminder that what we think is long-past is often very much still present.

Do not confuse this podcast episode with The Philadelphia Story -  a famous 1940 film which I have never seen.
