The most important relationship you'll ever have is the one that you have with yourself. Dawn welcomes personal growth and self-empowerment expert, Brain Truskowski to show to discuss relationships, energy and our egos. Learn how to measure your relationships by your own metrics, how to embrace wild attraction and why when we break free of our conditioning we can fund the answers to love ourselves.    KEY TAKEAWAYS  It's important to understand that you don't need to meet some external metric of what society needs you to be in a relationship, career, vocation or personal life. If you have the right spirit, you will be provided with whatever money and resources you need, when you need it.    You have to have faith and trust that the things happening in your life are happening that way for a reason and it's only your ego and your mind separating from that agenda that creates something.   Our ego's attachment to our timeline creates our suffering, so if we form a romantic relationship and that fails it is our ego that is the source of the pain. But there is a plausible karmic component of past life experiences that can affect our relationships.   Wild attraction is about the spiritual, energetic and more esoteric components of attraction and why people get there. Falling in love is being attracted to a person on an unintentional, psychic subconscious level that is fitting the lock to your key.    Every person that comes into your life is there to teach you something and it's usually a reflection of where you're not loving and accepting yourself or where you're not being loving and accepting of another. BEST MOMENTS “We're conditioned to live in the world in one way and now, people are waking up to recognise that we can look for answers by ourselves.” “We need to control our ego and manipulate it on a micro-level.” “Play out karma and have experiences to grow. Life is about trying to find a balance and have experiences. “We all have our own mission.” “You have to face yourself so that you can enter into relationships and have these beautiful connections where you can truly be yourself.”   VALUABLE RESOURCES   CONTACT METHOD https://www.instagram.com/theawakeningwithdawn dawn@theawakeningwithdawn.com ABOUT THE HOST Dawn Rishárd, M.A. With 20 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Systems, I empower people to release the past, open their hearts, and receive the love they desire. On this episode Ariel is joined by Ruth Werner, a trained Massage Therapist, an author and educator in the massage field with a career spanning over 30 years, to talk about the power of knowing what you want by recounting her path to becoming one of the most influential authors in the massage community. KEY TAKEAWAYS When I left massage school with a licence, I felt underprepared, especially working with people that had certain illnesses, diseases or conditions I didn’t know enough about to be sure that I was going to be safe. For example, Guillain-Barré syndrome. I couldn’t look it up and the patient didn’t know much about it either. I turned her down and it broke my heart but sparked me to want to know more about massage therapy in the context of illness or ongoing challenges. What I wanted was a resource that would help me make good clinical decisions for clients who were struggling with illness. If my teacher had not said: “Here, will you do this thing for me?”, life would have probably worked out pretty differently for me… I don’t know, it’s hard to know. I could have been self-employed as a massage therapist and done OK, but that wasn’t my calling. I did it for many years and I didn’t like it that much, I’d be in the session room with my hands on someone looking at the clock and watching the second hand thinking “go faster!” That was the moment I realised I’m in the wrong place, I’m not doing myself any favours and I’m definitely not doing my clients any favours. My passion was in the classroom and later being a writer. My mother was a profound influence on my being a single mother raising four children in the 60s on a teacher’s salary. She was the first woman in her family every to finish a college education and work outside the home. Our family values were all about education and independence; you don’t rely on anyone for anything. BEST MOMENTS “It was five years from the initial proposal to opening my first box of books. Ironically, they were published wrong.” “It was among the very first books for the rapidly growing market of massage therapy education and when people were looking for more formal education about pathologies in the classroom.” “In life there’s a lot of bashing around and hitting dead ends and that’s OK because all of those dead ends feed into your wisdom when you find the right direction.” “I want for the women who come after me to not find it as hard to negotiate a contract in their favour or to push back and say my editorial decision is the one we need to go with here, because it’s my name on the project.” ABOUT THE GUEST Ruth Werner is a trained Massage Therapist, an author and educator in the massage field with a career spanning over 30 years. Welcome back to Light Body Radio! Happy Thanksgiving & welcome back! This week I am joined by Stephanie May, LMT, CPT, Usui & Holy Fire III Reiki Master.   Have you heard of this energy healing mechanism called Reiki? If not, this is a great episode to introduce you to both Usui and the Holy Fire systems of Reiki.   https://drlaramay.com/store/blackfriday Stephanie and I are both Reiki Masters and are passionate about teaching others to manage their energy and improving their lives. Tune in to learn more about our new programs, the Reiki Booster Series, which is happening Dec 19 & 20th, 2020. We are offering a level 1 & 2 class as well as a master class. Learn more here. https://drlaramay.com/store/blackfriday   Follow Up Notes from Episode: Holy Fire Reiki: Why placements? “The ignition style of Holy Fire is more powerful because of the fact the teacher’s energy was not involved. It was a hands off style. So he asked his Guide, to which he was answered, yes, and then began receiving the downloaded information during an ignition like experience.” The difference between Holy Fire and other forms? “Introduced to the ICRT in 2014, it is included part of Usui classes and Karuna Reiki training. The energy is noticeably more refined and comes from a higher level of consciousness. Notable differences include:               i.      Working continuously even when not thinking about it. Spontaneously heals issues as they come up.  ii.      It works very quickly WITHOUT distress, aka healing crisis.  iii.      Always respects free will.  iv.      Heals relationships and interactions with others. Can be long term or also be spontaneously with others. It especially heals religious trauma.  v.      Releases worry and replaces it with feeling of safety vi.      Spontaneously provides guidance applicable to every level of life experience vii.      Effects of feeling continuously loved, a deep and refined nurturing feeling. viii.      Develops the healthy personality traits more that will serve a persons higher self more. ix.      It continuously evolves within the person and becomes more effective.” Resources to Check Out: Previous blog post: https://drlaramay.com/blog/whatisreiki Previous podcast: https://drlaramay.com/lightbodyradio/reiki The International Center for Reiki Training. Join David Keil for a fascinating conversation about Yoga and Anatomy. In this episode we discuss anatomy in relation to the Ashtanga Yoga practice. David Keil was introduced to yoga in 1989 by his Tai Chi Chuan teacher. Both the Tai Chi and Yoga practice at the ripe age of 17 began his research into his own mind-body connections. His search continued through massage therapy where he discovered many insights and affirmations of what he had been exploring and finding on his own through his practices. As an instructor of Kinesiology (the study of movement and musculoskeletal anatomy) at Miami’s Educating Hands School of Massage from 1999-2003, David developed a fun, informal and informative style of teaching. David was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 1999. But it was in 2001 that he met John Scott in Penzance, UK, presenting his anatomy workshops for the first time overseas. It was also John who told David to go to Mysore, India the following year, which he did. David arrived in Mysore in 2002 where he studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the “old” shala. In fact, it was the last year that the old shala was used for practice. David was authorized in 2004 and returned yearly for extended visits to Mysore with his wife Gretchen Suarez. They are both Authorized Level 2 and grateful for their time in Mysore, meeting Patabhi Jois and studying with R. Welcome back to Light Body Radio! In this week”s episode I am joined by Stephanie May, LMT, Reiki Master to discuss the victim state of mind and taking control of your mental health. We are all living through unprecedented times for sure! But that does not mean that we should allow ourselves to be victimized. Being the victim is a challenge that we must all face at some point in our lives, and actually will face multiple times throughout our lives. But there is a way you can perceive and move through those challenging times with empowerment and mindfulness. That’s what Stephanie and I wanted to bring you today, the tools to be empowered, to be the driver of your own mental state. You have the power to choose what and how you think and feel. You are not weak. You are not alone. I also wrote a blog about this back in March of this year right as COVID was starting to take off in the US. How timely?! Today we're talking about bodywork, specifically neuromuscular therapy, with Elizabeth Goldberg, a licensed massage therapist and wellness coach. Neuromuscular therapy, sometimes called trigger-point massage, is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage therapy addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries. By working with incredible practitioners, Elizabeth was able to not only relieve the pain in her back but also developed a new relationship with her body and mind. She believes strongly in the power of therapeutic bodywork. Elizabeth practices at Freed Bodyworks on Capitol Hill, and she first came to massage as a client with a repetitive stress injury. ◘ Related Content Controlled pilot study of the effects of Neuromuscular Therapy in patients with Parkinson's disease https://www.researchgate.net/publication/6751675_Controlled_pilot_study_of_the_effects_of_Neuromuscular_Therapy_in_patients_with_Parkinson's_disease Effect of ischemic compression on trigger points in the neck and shoulder muscles in office workers: a cohort study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23993756 The impact of latent trigger points on regional muscle function https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18765139 Investigating Neuromuscular Therapy: Efficacy of Application on Chronic Pain (Case Report) https://cns.edu/images/pdfs/research/Depression%20and%20Fatigue.pdf Responsiveness of myofascial trigger points to single and multiple trigger point release massages – a randomized, placebo controlled trial https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5561477/ ◘ Transcript https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/transcript-power-neuromuscular-therapy-gw-office-of/?published=t ◘ This podcast features the song “Follow Your Dreams” (freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Ho…ur_Dreams_1918) by Scott Holmes, available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial (01https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) license. ◘ Disclaimer: The content and information shared in GW Integrative Medicine is for educational purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice. In one of the highest turnouts for the midterm elections since 1966, both the GOP and the Democratic Parties "won" in some way, shape, or form. However, the Libertarian Party, despite optimistic hopes lead by candidates like Gary Johnson and Larry Sharpe, fell flat. Today, I'm joined by Twitter personality, Josie (aka: The Red-Headed Libertarian). Together, we discuss the 2018 midterm election results, discuss what it means to be a libertarian in 2018, and what libertarians can/should do differently to have real electoral victories down the road. Tony Brink 1400 West Walnut Street Suite 117 Rogers, AR 72756 Phone: 479-633-8433   At Essential Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork we understand that no two people are alike.  Our goal is to provide a variety of holistic therapies that will complement you and your lifestyle.   Each massage is tailored to meet your specific needs.  We believe wellness is found when we learn to balance our body, mind & spirit.  Through relaxation and pain relief we can help you achieve this balance.   Swedish massage is the most common type of massage. If you are new to massage it is a great place to start. During a session your therapist will combine traditional techniques characterized by stroking, kneading, friction, and sometimes percussion. Swedish massage reduces muscular tension, enhances circulation, and leaves you with an overall sense of well-being.   Hot Stone massage incorporates the benefits of heat and massage therapy. During a session your therapist will place stones on specific areas of the body and also use hot stones to massage your muscles. Heat generated from the stones improves circulation and aids in relaxation. Hot Stone massage can benefit anyone and can be useful on muscles that are difficult to relax.   Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized form of Deep-tissue massage that addresses underlying muscle groups, fascia, and trigger points. During a session your therapist will use friction and focused pressure to relieve muscular pain and discomfort. Neuromuscular Therapy can relieve a variety of symptoms, and when combined with other therapies it offers a sense of deep relaxation.   CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that addresses the head, spinal column, and sacrum. During a session your therapist will use gentle pressure to release compression in areas that hold stress. Craniosacral Therapy is performed while clothed, so be sure to wear comfortable clothing. You will find this technique deeply relaxing. It is also known to relieve migraines, neck and back pain, and anxiety.   Deep-tissue massage sounds like what it is, deep pressure massage. During a session your therapist will use firm pressure that concentrates on underlying muscle groups and fascia in the body to relieve underlying pain patterns and other physical ailments. It is important to communicate your needs to your therapist to achieve a proper level of pressure. Deep-tissue massage can also break up scar tissue and provide stress relief.   Reflexology is a Chinese style of bodywork used to relieve tension and promote wellness. During a session your therapist will apply focused pressure to reflex points, primarily on your feet, that effect every part of your body. Reflexology can be relaxing as well as invigorating. It also can provide relief for those suffering from foot pain.   Fascial Release is a form of therapy that focuses on relieving tissues that restrict movement and cause imbalance in the body. During a session your therapist will apply gentle sustained pressure to improve movement and circulation in the body. Fascial Release is often combined with other therapies to optimize relaxation and pain relief.   Massage cupping, inspired by an ancient technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, uses negative pressure on the skin’s service to facilitate healing and relaxation. During a session your therapist will use glass or plastic cups and suction, to loosen underlying fascia and connective tissue. Suction can range from light to heavy and the movements performed by the therapist can be stimulating or sedating.

In this episode I am talking with John Sharkey who is a Clinical Anatomist, Exercise Physiologist, and European Neuromuscular Therapist. He has developed the worlds only Masters Degree in Neuromuscular Therapy which is Accredited by the University of Chester, he is on the editorial board for the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, the International Journal of Osteopathy, and the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.. He is also a member of the Olympic Councils medical Team and a founding member of the B.I.G, otherwise known as the Biotensegrity Interest Group). He has also authored several books including the 3rd edition of The Concise Book of Muscles which we talk about in the interview. John and I are talking here in great depth about the old paradigm of anatomy and biomechanics and what the new paradigm holds. This is critical stuff here. We are on the brink of a new understanding of the living human body and it’s time to look at the old models, look at where they come from, and to look at why they are outdated. So if you’re interested in living tissue vs. cadavers, biotensegrity vs. biomechanics, continuity of form vs. origin insertion, and how individual human anatomy is and what that changes about our often dogmatic approaches to the body this episode is for you.

Health Chat with Kat with Guest Douglas Nelson Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) is the creation of Douglas Nelson, a licensed Massage Therapist who has been in practice since 1977. What makes PNMT special is the way it approaches soft-tissue therapy. More than a technique or modality, PNMT is really a way of thinking, applying clinical reasoning in soft-tissue therapy. * PNMT is deductive. For every symptom a client may present, there are multiple possible causes. How can you get to to most likely source as efficiently as possible? That is what we concentrate on. *PNMT is science based, not philosophically based. We have conducted many clinical research studies relevant to the work and are always combing the literature to find more. * PNMT is client based. Since the causes for every symptom can be different, each client should get a session created exactly for them, rather than a routine or recipe. There is no shoulder routine, low back routine, or set of specific tests you do for every person who walks in your door (one size fits nobody). Yes, it is harder to learn at first, but most therapists have had enough of routines that just don't work (plus, they are boring to client and therapist alike).
