Greetings on New Moon time! Welcome back to Luna Aroma, an invitation to explore moontime through observations, guided aromatic encounters and poetry. This is still a quiet time of year in the Nothern hemisphere, when the days are getting longer but cold and barrenness still blanket the Earth. We're in the realm of Hunger moontime as the sun ever so slowly awakens the soil and stirs hibernating animals we may seek more activity, more sun and fester impatience. Yet we must slow down and continue planning as during Wolf moontime. Here we turn to nature for lessons of fortitude and inspiration to persevere through patience, purpose and perception. I feel Juniper and its berries embody these lessons. Find yourself a quiet space, 15 minutes and join me for Juniper wisdom, flying and talking with ravens (you'll see!) and sitting with the poetry of Cassandra Coxen. A big blow to the music scene. Northern Bass was cancelled yesterday - due to Northland's low vaccination rate and the threat of Omicron. The event was first due to be take place at Mangawhai on New Year's Eve, but then postponed until January 28. Organiser Gareth Popham says the event is too risky. “What if we weren't just a location of interest, what if we were a super-spreader event? What if we took Covid into Northland?” LISTEN ABOVE

It's late in the evening in the three steps pub, in the small village of Dromintree in the northern Irish County of Armagh. In this episode I have a discussion with Hillary Lister, environmental activist and producer at Maine Independent Media, about the proposed "Atlantica" free trade zone. The zone would include Maine New Hampshire Vermont and upstate new York, and the provinces of New Brunswick Nova Scotia Prince Edward Island, Labrador and New Foundland and Nothern quebec Atlantica promoters say that becuase this region has a common geography, ecology, and environment , it would act as a single economic unit if all trade barriers and regulatory barriers to trade were removed betweenthese states and provinces. Opponents of the plan, including lister, however, belive that the removal of these regulations would result i. a severe weakening ni environmental protection of the regions land air and water quality and its natural ecosystems. We spoke first however about Maine independent media and its role in providing news to the public. This podcast is 26 minutes long.
