Presenting in a confident manner, listening to podcasts at the gym, and the idea of a Steely Dan play. Ruben Zarate (Dante Elephante) "Santa Barbara-based Ruben Zarate created the musical persona known as Dante Elephante in 2013. Shortly thereafter Lollipop Records released his first two LPs, German Aquatics and Anglo-Saxon Summer, both produced by Jonathan Rado (Foxygen), which saw praise from Consequence of Sound, Funny or Die, and Brooklyn Vegan. In the summer of 2018 Elephante then digitally released a full-length, Rare Attractions, leading to appearances at SXSW, Treefort Festival, as well as tours supporting The Orwells, Summer Salt, and Real Estate. Two records and a headlining tour under his belt, Dante Elephante now offers his most accomplished work to date: Mid-Century Modern Romance, produced by Paul Cherry, features eight soulful, disco-kissed tracks, seemingly right out of 1979." On this episode of Skalable Growth Podcast, we dive into the importance of asking effective questions during the sales process with guest Paul Cherry, the author of "Questions That Sell." During this episode Paul shares the four key questions buyers have in mind, how to tailor a successful sale, and the importance of past, present, and future-oriented questions. Key Takeaways from this Episode:1. Understanding a buyer's motivations, such as minimizing risk and gaining an edge, profitability, and simplification, is crucial in tailoring a successful sale.2. Asking great questions during the sales process can differentiate from competitors, trigger prospects to think more deeply, and create a more exceptional experience for the prospect.3. Researching prospects before making calls by Googling trends in their industry and referencing them during calls can greatly enhance the effectiveness of sales calls.4. Being a consultative, strategic partner with unique questions can set salespeople apart and help reveal bigger problems that customers may not have considered on their own.The conversation also covers the importance of preparation before joint calls, asking strategic goal questions, and the art of quantifying the impact of a problem in monetary terms, or "dollarization." This session was recorded during a live Growth Forum Community event. Check out Growth Forum where you can access sales training, marketing courses and hours of pre-recorded content.

Remember that time when popular rock duo The White Stripes first broke onto the scene, and Jack and Meg were running with the line that they were brother and sister, only for it to turn out they were actually a divorced couple? Really weird, some would say perverse, in hindsight, eh? Well around this time, they did a song called ‘Stop Breaking Down', which as it turns out was a 20-odd year pre-emptive shout out to Sam and Dan's recording equipment tonight. So stick with us as we fight through every single technical difficulty in the book to bring you Episode 43 of The Dogger Saints Podcast! Unfortunately we have to talk about football, so we dissect the continuation of Saints' rotten run of form, and indeed rotten run of luck with officials, and question just where we go from Saturday's defeat at home to Aberdeen, and can that somehow start with a win at Ibrox on Wednesday. Once that unpleasantness is out of the way, we get cracking on the features, because we know that's what really brings him the bacon in this operation! In the first of our new feature ‘All Around The World', we catch up with someone who managed what that shitebag Fife bottlejob Geordie Munro couldn't do, as we chat to our New York based friend Niki, for an insight into what it's like following The Saints from afar. We also have our first attempt at solving who exactly Wendy is, as the first bold attempt to win the AFC Bournemouth dog poo bag holder is undertaken. We also take a trip to Leeds for an arrers based Club Shop of Shame, and witness the fitness in this weeks visit to The Royal. We carry on the international feel with this weeks Headline Act, as we have a lovely old catch up with Saints hero and Murcia cycling speed demon Paul Cherry to discuss his time at both Muirton and McDiarmid, a shared love of Alex Totten, having a rare old time post-playing, and much more. The farcical Gazprom! Sam discusses fields! Dan on the warpath! Ah we've got it all, and it'll be a rare old treat for yer collie dugs, so get yourself comfy and spend a bit of time with the boys. On this episode of AGSC, Tamsyn and Paniz are joined by...each other, to talk about the reason they first met years ago: campus sexual assault, and the profound uselessness of the university administrators getting paid to address it. Having spent many years organizing, researching, and writing about the issue since then, they have seen how universities spend all their time and money on programs like consent education and sweeping policy change, without seeing any actual reduction in the number of students being assaulted on their campuses. Paniz and Tamsyn talk about why these neoliberal approaches don't meet survivors' actual (namely, material) needs or take into account the role of power in sexual violence - and what we can do instead. Jamie Boulachanis, a murderer who recently became a woman in the definition under Canadian law, is demanding to be transferred to a penitentiary for women. On Monday Boulachanis filed an application for habeas corpus — a legal recourse that allows a person to challenge the legality of their incarceration. Her argument is that she is receiving 'humiliating" treatment in the men's prison; showering in front of men, not having access to a bathroom with a door or needing to use a toilet without a seat, being strip-searched by male officers and routinely sexually harassed as the only woman in a men’s prison. Paul Cherry, a journalist with the Montreal Gazette has been following this and joins Gormley now to talk about the Boulachanis case.

A decade-long struggle for control of Montreal's mob continues as mafia leader Andrea Scoppa was gunned down Monday. Scoppa has been described in court as the leader of a Calabrian clan operating within the Montreal Mafia. He rose up in the Rizzuto organization but his status apparently changed after the death of leader Vito Rizzuto at the end of 2013. Police sources worry that more violence is coming. Montreal Gazette crime reporter Paul Cherry joins Dave.  We also debut our new true crime podcast, the Dark North. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts.

Takeaways Lock in on the Verbs: If you’ve ever been anxious on a sales call, thinking too far ahead or worrying about what your next question is going to be, stop! Your prospect will lay out the entire roadmap if you let them. As you listen to them, focus on the verbs they use. For instance, “we’re trying,” “we’re evaluating,” or “we’re thinking about.” When they use these verbs, seek clarity as to what they mean. Ms. Prospect, you mentioned you were thinking about X, what did you mean by that? What exactly have you tried? What are you still planning to try? How has it gone so far? What were you hoping would happen? If you pick up on the repetition of their patterns, you can remove all the stress from your call. Understand the Incentives: What’s driving your prospects' decision? And with that question, I don’t just mean the first person you talk to. I mean every person that you come in contact with at the account. Each person has their own set of incentives in an opportunity to either do a deal or not do a deal. It’s your job to get past the surface level responses, figure out who is incentivized by what and what is the real impact of that decision is for them. I promise you, price is never the real factor if you get to their motivations. Slow Down: It seems counterintuitive, I know. In the age of efficiency, we’re all looking for ways to cut time out of our sales cycle. However, slowing your process down may actually have the effect you’re looking for. Instead of immediately going in for the kill at the first sign of a problem you can solve, dig deeper. Has your prospect been looking at competitive solutions and just wants to see a demo, ask them what was good about what they’ve already seen — and ask them what they wish they had seen, but didn’t. Do they want you to send them a proposal? Ask them what things would prevent them from signing it. I work hard to prevent buyer complacency by transitioning their request with a question to build more context.
