How well do you really know Rick Springfield? What about Tim Pierce, Mike Baird, Jerry Hey, Richard Page and Tommy Funderburk? There's a lot to like and a lot that gets unfairly dismissed about the man with more than 20 charting hit singles to his name. If all you think of when you hear “Rick Springfield” is “Jessie's Girl,” allow Tom and John to open your eyes and ears to the depths beneath the surface…Listen and Subscribe:Find the podcast platform of your choice here. Following the worldwide success of their 1985 release “Welcome To The Real World”, which featured two number one hits and another that cracked the top 10, Mr. Mister reconvened to create their follow-up, “Go On…”. Released in 1987, the album was a continuation of the same, incredible songwriting and musicianship, touching on social, political, and spiritual messages, in a decade where materialism was front and center. “Go On…” wasn't the commercial success that its predecessor enjoyed, but to Mr. Mister fans, this collection of songs is just as powerful, with timeless lyrics that are still relevant today. On this episode of Inside MusiCast, we'll discuss this incredible album track-by-track, and we're pleased to welcome band members Richard Page, Steve George, and lyricist John Lang.

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/radioflowok/message

The Music Industry Evolves - With Rock & Roll Legends Peter Asher, Skunk Baxter & Richard Gibbs interviewed by Mike Gormley The State of the Music Industry Peter Baxter - Peter Asher is a British guitarist, singer, manager and record producer. He came to prominence in the 1960s as a member of the pop music vocal duo Peter and Gordon before going on to a successful career as a manager and record producer. He was responsible for signing James Taylor with Apple Records and managing Linda Rondstadt. In 2019, Asher published a book The Beatles from A to Zed about his personal reminiscences about the band. Skunk Baxter -Jeffrey Allen "Skunk" Baxter is an American guitarist, known for his stints in the rock bands Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers during the 1970s and Spirit in the 1980s. He was recently inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Doobie Brothers. Richard Gibbs -Richard Gibbs, the owner of Woodshed Recording, is a renowned film and television composer, record producer, and musical innovator The 60+ feature films he has scored have cumulatively grossed well over 1 billion dollars in global box office while benefiting from his freethinking compositions. His heart- crushing, epic score for Queen of the Damned, written and produced in collaboration with Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis, combined a non-traditional 105 piece symphonic orchestra with head-banging guitars and platinum awarded songs of otherworldly vampiric beauty. Richard's reinvention of the musical sounds of space helped propel the re- imagined Battlestar Galactica series to huge commercial and critical success. He set the sound for the Simpsons, scoring the first season of that groundbreaking series. As a session keyboardist Richard has recorded with Robert Palmer, Tom Waits, Melissa Etheridge and War, amongst hundreds of others. He performed live with Korn, Chaka Khan, Tom Jones and was the keyboardist for the seminal L.A. band, Oingo Boingo. Other film and television scoring highlights on his lengthy resume include Dr. Dolittle, Step Into Liquid, The Tracy Ullman Show, 10 Things I Hate About You and Say Anything. Richard's beyond state-of-the art recording studio, Woodshed Recording, overlooking the Pacific in Malibu, has rewritten the rules for studio construction. This incredibly beautiful creative environment has attracted the likes of Sting, Coldplay, Pink, Kanye West, U2 and Barbra Streisand. Richard still finds time to produce records for artists such as Korn, Richard Page, and Eisley. If that wasn't enough, he can also be found roiling the waters as an activist for intellectual property rights, with appearances on the Al Jazeera network, in the pages of the Christian Science Monitor, and on various panels across the country. Richard is a lifelong surfer, a husband of one, and father of three. Richard is the founder of Armory of Harmony, a radical non-profit that is alchemizing gunmetal from decommissioned guns into musical instruments and donating them to schools in need across the country. www.armoryofharmony.com www.richardgibbs.com
Creationtide IV The Collect: Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
What a great conversation with Richard Page about navigating race within the Christian community, and the importance of consistency within relationships.

Since Richard Page’s last chat with Eddy and Rick, he has discovered a new-found inspiration to record a new album - PECULIAR LIFE. It’s his latest release since his 1996 album Shelter Me and last years Christmas single, I Always Cry At Christmas. As you might expect, Richard hasn’t lost his touch. This long-awaited body of work delivers on all levels and is pure Richard Page. He’s back. Inside MusiCast is proud to welcome once again… Richard Page.
Richard Page is back. For proof, go to iTunes or Richard’s web site and you’ll find his most recent solo release since his 1996 solo album, Shelter Me. What’s most unusual is that he chose this holiday season to release a most wonderfully crafted Christmas single entitled, I Always Cry At Christmas. But, this isn’t your typical Christmas track, this is a Richard Page song that delivers what you’d expect - something special from the soul. As the former lead vocalist for Pages, Third Matinee, and Mr. Mister, he has delivered hits such as Broken Wings and Kyrie. But over the past several years he has taken a hiatus from his personal solo career to craft songs and produce artists such as Leona Lewis, Bill Champlin, Al Jarreau, Celine Dion, as well as many others. Today, Richard is once again ready to let us all come into his world, by sharing his music and his personal story with us all. Inside MusiCast is glad to welcome Richard Page as our first guest of 2009.
