“Age Of Finding Stars” David Long and Shane O'Neill grew up together in Ireland and have been pals since they were six. They were in a band together as teenagers then they went their separate ways, Long to Into Paradise and O'Neill to Blue In Heaven. Both fabulous bands who put out a series of flawless albums. Into Paradise had all the delicious dark drama of Echo and the Bunnymen or The Sound while Blue In Heaven, who were signed to U2's label before inking a deal with Island, brought to mind a jittery and adrenalized blend of Joy Division and the Triffids. In the late 90s the two friends reconnected as Supernaut and now they're collaborating again and arguably making the most urgent and stirring work of their careers. Their new EP Age Of Finding Stars is a riveting blend of dramatic soundscapes juxtaposed with introspective lyrics and stirring vocals—it's infectious and thoughtful and decidedly moving work. www.david4long.bandcamp.com www.bombshellradio.com www.alexgreenonline.com Stereo Embers The Podcast: Twitter: @emberseditor Instagram: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com
For an album that was originally going to be called “Cocaine” (yes, you read that correctly, but the suits chopped that idea. The band even tried for “Snowblind”, until the suits bumped that idea as well), BLACK SABBATH VOL. 4 is a landmark album and (somewhat ironically) a stoner metal masterpiece built on the stony, doomy, metal foundations crafted by the band over the course of their 3 previous “volumes”, resulting in one of the finest offerings from the legendary period known as “The First Six”. It's “time to hear what cocaine sounds like”. Find out what sort of sonic gloriousness you can create when “the budget for blow is larger than the recording budget”, discover “the magic of marinara”, listen to “the most important riff of 1972” and pay heed to our “public service announcements” regarding “ride share rules” & “driver's license requirements” before you break out your straw and JOIN US for a look back at 50 years of stoner metal excellence as we talk outside the lines and dive snout first into BLACK SABBATH, VOL. 4. Since the late 1970's, guitarist Phil Bowley and his lightning fast fingers have been a key ingredient of many cool outfits....from the leather and studs of Shy Thunder, to the crunching riffs of White Widow, the melodic raunch of Rags n Riches to the street-level sleaze of the Candy Harlots - and most recently, the loud and brooding tunage of Melody Black and Dept. of Gloom. The one constant for this six string king is volume - and lots of it ! On episode #149 of the Australian Rock Show, Phil joins us to look over his life in rock ‘n' roll and we cover many highlights: supporting Dio in 1986, opening up for AC/DC in 1991, performing at the first 'Metal Crusade' concert in Sydney in 1985 - his time in the Candy Harlots (and recording their Five Wicked Ways album), gigging with cricketer Brett Lee's band and much more ! Play very loud. Music by: Dept. of Gloom, Shy Thunder, White Widow, Supernaut, Phil Bowley

“Meet Me On Another Day” From the mid-‘80s to about 1993, David Long used to front the Dublin band Into Paradise. Filled with moody rhythms, dark melodies and churning choruses, their work brought to mind that of Echo and the Bunnymen and The Sound. Sure enough, Adrian Borland of The Sound produced their second album Churchtown. Made up of David, Rachel Tighe, James Eadie and Ronan Clarke, Into Paradise were a spellbinding outfit whose songs were urgent and yearning. But they only put out two albums Under The Water and Churchtown and aside from a handful of great singles in the early 90s, that was that. In '96 Long and his childhood pal Shane O'Neil who fronted the band Blue In Heaven, teamed up for an album under the moniker Supernaut. The two friends had also been in bands together before, so working with each other was a natural thing. And then Long kind of stepped away for a bit. A bit being like 20 years or so. After a series of winning solo albums, he and O'Neil started writing and recording together in 2018 or so and that collaboration yielded loads of new material. So much so, in fact, that their new EP Far From Home is out now and their new album Moll and Zeiss is forthcoming. The new material is a nervy blend of The Go Betweens, The Triffids' Born Sandy Devotional and the Jesus and Mary Chain. It's some of the most riveting work we've heard by anyone in years. And David Long? One of the nicest dudes around. You're going to dig this chat. Quotes“Folks coming out of boot camps or learning on your own, you’re writing a lot of things from scratch. In the real world, you don’t do that a whole lot. That’s rare, especially in larger companies. So I learned how to read code, how to understand code and how to hold a lot of information in my head.”“What really drives me now is mentoring and teaching. I love research, I love to build things. I’m a great starter but not a great finisher. But I found that I could explain technical things to lay people and to more junior technologists and even to senior technologists.”“I do about 5 or 6 people at a time and take them through about an 8 month program. Doom, drums, and Happy Birthday, Mike Scales!
It's Tuesday So It Must Be The End Of The World! In this episode, the boys chat free style for a while before they remember they're doing a podcast – due to Douglas being quarantined from his family because of his recent bout with the flu. Here. I'll list things that get talked about before the show even starts: TikTok influencers The Mandolorian Election Madness Somewhere in the middle we talk about Michael Caine. I don't remember why. Oh, yeah. Now I remember. Doug joins Black Sabbath. It's a whole thing. There are some pretty golden Father Charles Letters. Young Rob rules. We revelate the most evil man who walks the earth. That's not even a joke. Oh, and then we launch clowns out of a canon. Some pretty great Hallpass From Suffering candidates get talked about as well. That part is sweet. Also, Britney Ballots forever! Then it's Rob's turn in the Coffee Cup Confessional. Also, plans are made to release It's A Dildo Bandito Christmas! Music Credits: “The End Is Nigh Show Theme” by Douglas AsSeenOnTv “Dear Father Charles” by Douglas AsSeenOnTv The Hallpass From Suffering Intro features “As The World Falls Down” written by David Bowie performed on the harp by Adam B. Harris “Celebration of Revelations” intro features part of “Street Hassle” by Lou Reed “National Acrobat” by Black Sabbath Managed by Maire's Dead Grandmother Produced by D. In this episode, Scotty talks with old friend Nick Matlin about his early days riding for Dogtown, going to Astro Skate, why Supernaut went out of business, and his insane number of jobs performed in the skate industry.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Back before corporations acquired (and systematically destroyed) rock radio by playing the same 10 songs on perpetual repeat into the dirt, radio disc jockeys used to actually have some control over their “playlists” and would sometimes throw on a song that wasn’t a normal rock radio favorite: maybe something that wasn’t a “hit single”, or something for which there was no “music video”; something longer, something unusual, something off the beaten path: we call these Deep Cuts. That’s what us Metal Nerds call “The Good Stuff”. And when it comes to Black Sabbath, it’s ALL Good Stuff!!! There’s just one problem: because WE THE NERDS here at Metal Nerdery are already so intimately familiar with what shall be henceforth known as “The First Six”, it was kind of a challenge for us to each pick our favorite 6 deep cuts from The First Six Black Sabbath albums. There were a few that overlapped on our respective listicles but we tried to go as deeply as we could to give those of you who are only familiar with side 1 of ‘Paranoid’ a nice sampling of what we call “That GOOD Sabbath”. JOIN US after you’ve finished your bowl (of breakfast cereal) as we discuss our favorite “deep cuts” from our favorite first 6 albums by our favorite First Godfathers of Metal, Black Sabbath. On episode 19 of the Bois & Bar Talk podcast, the Drink of the Week is Supernaut by New England Brewing Co. out of Woodbridge, Connecticut. According to beeradvocate, this American IPA scored a 96 out of 100. It has a 5.8% ABV has a fruity flavor with hints of pineapple and mixed berries. We could taste the Mosaic hops and bitterness, but it was also a crisp drink to have. Supernaut has a golden color with a large white head and pours nice. Preparations for episodes during hot days in June usually include running a large fan in our small recording studio cooling down as much as possible. Once the fan is off and we hit record, it feels as if we are on the clock before sweat begins. It feels like an oven slowly preheating until after our 30 minute episode when we are tapped out from pure heat. Typically, we don't have a direction with our crammed episodes. We kicked off talking about how people sun bathe as a hobby at the expense of their health and without proper hydration. Somehow this turned into a conversation about eggs and dipping sauces. Surprisingly, we haven't talked about our stock trading addictions on the show. We ranted about the thrill of penny stocks and the mental stress that it brings. After that, we mentioned pests like fruit flies and mosquitos up north, compared to lizards in the south. Not to mention, northern people move much faster than anybody in the south. Lastly, Rob talked about his weekend Florida trip and what it was like to board a plane with COVID-19 rules. The mask rules nowadays are definitely confusing to follow for every different place. Yeah we know, our episodes are all over the place man. Anyways, if you like this episode feel free to check out the previous one on Bois & Bar Talk. Cheers!
Another Mike Millard master was released by JEMS and it's Black Sabbath, Long Beach CA, September 7, 1975. This show was in support of their Sabotage album and I play Snowblind, Symptom of the Universe, Supernaut, and Iron Man. Excellent recording of the daddies of heavy metal.

Escuchamos N.I.B., Paranoid (Black Sabbath), Supernaut, Changes (Vol. 4)
