A rare dinosaur discovery — a juvenile tyrannosaur— by University of Kansas paleontologists will help researchers learn more about the early lifestyle of the creatures. The KU team is in Montana completing the final excavation of the specimen that was first discovered in 2016.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch an uns! _____________________ #podcast #arthouse #analyse #filmkritik E-Mail: info@tele-stammtisch.de PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/AndreasPrill Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 Folge direkt herunterladen Folgt uns ab sofort regelmäßig live auf Twitch: twitch.tv/dertelestammtisch

Longtime listeners will be familiar with the fact that Dave has spent a lot of time looking at and working on various bites marks on dinosaur bones left by the carnivorous theropods. These can tell us an enormous amount about who was doing what to whom and what it can mean for the ecology and behaviour of both the herbivores that were bitten and the carnivores that bit them. However, to date work on this for dinosaurs has almost exclusively focused on the tyrannosaurs with their tendency to bite on bones. But they weren't the only ones doing this. As Dave explains to Iszi in this episode, he's got a big new paper out with a plethora of authors assessing what was going on in the famous Morrison Formation that was teeming with giant sauropods but had plenty of theropods around too. What were they up to and can we learn more about their biology from a few bites? Links: Matt Wedel's blog post about the project: https://svpow.com/2023/11/14/new-paper-theropod-bite-marks-on-morrison-sauropod-bones/ Dave's post about it: https://archosaurmusings.wordpress.com/2023/11/14/theropods-bit-sauropods-too/ And the paper itself: https://peerj.com/articles/16327/

She speaks to Woman's Hour alongside Tender CEO Susie McDonald about the work they're doing to try and prevent domestic violence. A special police unit used to spy on left wing political and activist groups was not justified and should have been disbanded in its early days. That's one of the conclusions of the first part of a judge led inquiry into undercover policing, which covers the years 1968 to 1982. Sir John Mitting, Chair of the inquiry said most groups infiltrated by the Met's Special Demonstration Squad posed no threat. His report details tactics such as forming sexual relationships while undercover and using dead children's names to create false identities. Hayley Hassall is joined by ‘Alison' who had a five year relationship with an undercover officer, and by Harriet Wistrich, who is Director of the Centre for Women's Justice and part of the legal team that represented women in the inquiry. The writer, editor and disability activist Lottie Jackson has written a memoir called See Me Rolling. In it, she discusses the way that society views disability and the innate prejudices that we have. She also talks about fashion and how important it is in letting her express her identity. She joins Hayley. The journalist Afua Hirsch has made a new series of Africa Rising for BBC 2, about an African cultural renaissance. Afua visits three very different countries; Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa, and interviews young creatives who are expressing new ideas which are gathering momentum across the continent. Afua joins Hayley to talk about the female artists she met and their inspiring visions.
Plausibly Live! - The Official Podcast of The Dave Bowman Show
For me, history is highly tactile. I connect when my hands can feel and touch the things about which I have studied and learned. A few weeks ago, I was able to place my hands on a sixty-six million year old rock, in which was embedded a Tyrannosaur who had once walked the banks of Hells Creek in what is now Montana. A few days later, almost on a whim, I walked with my son on the field of Gettysburg, where the tide of war has changed and where freedom and liberty had been saved. S short distance away, Lincoln had delivered his eternal remarks. A day later, I watched my son, reach out himself, and touch history… --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/plausibly-live/message

Outro: Buzzsaw Party Boy. The Text: This week's text is Control, spanning from pages 298 – 314. Synopsis: While considering what to do with the tranquilized Tyrannosaur and boasting that full control has been restored to Jurassic Park, the auxiliary power runs out. As the power goes out, the waterfall is halted, and the electric door separating Grant from the kids is unlocked and opened. Arnold and Wu review the system printout and sees that they've been running on auxiliary power since they reset the system back at 5:14 a.m. Discussions surround: Doing the Math, Malcolm's History of the Western World, Timeline, Show, don't tell, Crichton Tropes, Contrivances of Plot, Movie Adaptations, Control is a Hoax, Hammond's Dream, and Island Layout. Outro: Shelter Dog. The Text: This week's text is Tyrannosaur, spanning from pages 288 – 298. Synopsis: Muldoon and Gennaro locate the Big Rex and head out to tranquilizer her. Meanwhile, Lex, Tim and Grant plummet over the waterfall where the Big Rex has been waiting to eat them. The tyrannosaur loses them in the water, but finds the life vest. Meanwhile, Grant snags the kids, resuscitates Lex from drowning and leads them up a path behind the waterfalls to hide from the Tyrannosaur. Behind the falls, Grant finds a secured maintenance facility, golf cart, and juvenile velociraptor, but unfortunately, he gets separated from the kids by a locked door. He tranquilizes the raptor, discovering that it's a male that was bred in the wild. The kids, on the other hand, are locked out and the tyrannosaur bursts through the waterfalls, uses its tongue like an elephant trunk to catch Tim, and is about to eat him, when it falls asleep. Outro: Latebloomer. The Text: This week's text is Control, spanning from pages 149 - 154. Synopsis: Wu, Hammond and Arnold begin to feel some anxieties of the consultants actually recommending that the park be closed for safety reasons, and become leery of Malcolm and Gennaro in particular – while our consultants tour through the sauropod paddock, enjoying the view of Triceratops, Apatosaurus and Hadrosaurs. Muldoon, on the other hand, has anxieties of the consultants' actual safety, and preps his Jeep with a rocket launcher just in case – which isn't much of a vouch of confidence for the park's safety is it? At the same time, a large storm coming in jeopardizes the safety of the big supply ship, the Anne B, and since Hammond spared the expense of installing a storm barrier at the docks, this ship must depart early. Oh, and unbelievably, contrary to everything they've been told so far on this tour, Tim spots a rogue velociraptor running amongst the hadrosaurs, and it's so unbelievable everyone scrambles to find an explanation. Discussions surround: Movie adatpations, Control is a Hoax, and the Island Layout. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by national acting treasure and Distraction Pieces friend PADDY CONSIDINE!You may remember back all those years to 2015, when Paddy made his first appearance on the podcast... A huge amount of life has happened since then, and you're about to hear - well, condensed into an hour or so - all about it. We find Paddy in a good place, which is lovely to hear, and delve into the past again, in a number of ways, to hear about past advice he gave Pip in the first podcast appearance, class, revelations on Broadway, what is available to you with the appropriate outlook, that old ever present bastard of imposter syndrome, on set relationships, directing one's self, his past films including Journeyman and Tyrannosaur, House Of The Dragon, Riding The Low, and all the other extra trimmings tha come with all of that. A fantastic one which you'll love, and you're always in good company with Paddy - enjoy!DPP EP29 with PaddyINSTAGRAMRIDING THE LOW linksIMDBHOUSE OF THE DRAGONTYRANNOSAURJOURNEYMANSCROOBIUS PIP on TWITCHSCROOBIUS PIP on INSTAGRAMSCROOBIUS PIP on TWITTERSCROOBIUS PIP on PATREONDEBRISNORTH STAR RISINGPOD BIBLE Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. It seems that like the Tyrannosaur, WOSN doesn't follow any set patterns or park schedules. It's the essence of chaos. So, here we are, a week and a day after the last episode. Anarchy! But still, we're not posting old episodes, we're making all new ones! In this episode, we discuss everything Jurassic Park, from the 1993 classic directed by Steven Spielberg, to the current trilogy, Jurassic World. So, pour yourself a trembling glass of water, hang onto something and put those down, if they're heavy it means they're expensive…and listen to the grating sound of us talking, which is akin to Alan Grant blowing into a fossilized Raptor larynx. Don't have the time? You'll find the time. Because…life…finds a way… Note: Trevorrow is pronounced like "tomorrow." Not like "Devereaux." I don't know why I did that, but sometimes the simplest pronunciation is the correct one. Now ask me how to say Timothee Chalamet… Note #2: Every time one of us said Stegosaurus… we meant Brontosaurus. We're not paleontologists… Modern Funk Groove by StudioEtude. Eddie Marsan first came to my attention with his now legendary performance in Mike Leigh's “Happy-Go-Lucky.” He has so many layers at play under Scott's anger, gives so much depth to that character. It is a wonder to behold. He kept doing it in films like “Tyrannosaur,” “Still Life,” “Sherlock Holmes,” as Terry in the Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” and now in his newest film, “The Contractor,” opposite Chris Pine. In this half hour, Marsan talks about the formative influence of Leigh on his work and the meaning of the command “dig a hole and sit in it.” He shares some things he picked up from never leaving Jim Broadbent's side on the “Gangs of New York” set, the technique of “listening with prejudice,” the importance of living a life in such a way that the job of acting doesn't fulfill your egotistic needs, plus much more. Episode 10 we jump into it with a quick update on the Russian Invasion and talk about a “riveting” paleontology story on the proposed Tyrannosaur split up before jumping into movie news: which consists of MGM being acquired by Amazon and what the possibilities hold for this move. Jack Black announcing a new Kung Fu Panda series on Netflix called Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. We take a new look at The Pentaverate. Some casting news for The Mandalorian, Blue Beetle, and Madam Web. Scream 6's release date. More Backrooms viewings, The Third Test video and First Contact video. In Gaming news, a lot of trailer viewings. A better look at Hogwarts Legacy, new look at The House of the Dead Remake, First look at The Quarry and Vampire the Masquerade: Swan Song. Kingdom Hearts turns 20 this week. We jump to Music News and Review Impera by Ghost. We talk about AKC's new single, Skynd hitting a million views for her single, Chris Watts. And to close out the show is the first ever haul showcase. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Oi Oiii! How's it going? It's that new TSP time of the week and we're back with a bona fide classic. Craig's sits down (in the same room!!!) with the fantastic actor, Paul Popplewell. You might know Paul from such films as 24 Hour Party People, Journeyman, Peterloo and Tyrannosaur, or from his myriad brilliant roles in both television and theatre. He and Craig discuss, moving schools, finding those inspirational people, which living person he most despises (he doesn't despise anyone particularly), loss, getting in with rascals and loads, loads more. It's a fab chat and we're sure you'll reckon so too. It's episode 153 of the Two Shot Podcast with Paul Popplewell. Get in touch... Yeah Roy!We bring the noise this episode and plenty of talking over each other as I welcome old friend Mr Shaun Oshea to our hobbit-sized Mezzanine based studio. After watching Oshea struggle to take his seat (considering he is particularly svelte now after losing a sizable amount of weight), my heart started its palpitations, and my mind began racing. How would I fit any normal-sized human into the leprechaun shaped hole Fiona has made for herself these past several months?!Did Ebert and Siskel have to deal with this kind of shit? Kermode & Mayo look pretty cosy in the BBC studios. Mr De Niro, it's Ben from FilmFloggers. We'll have to hold off that sit down chat about Heat; I literally can't fit you in atm. So Hot Fuzz, nothing's off the table this episode as we delve into a whole host of hot topics. Including the latest happenings in DW'S tardis (Bradley Walsh, really?), some drunken debauchery tales, and I give Shaun a Paddy Considine must-watch list with strict instructions to only be watched when you're feeling down and need something to pop a smile back on your face.
