Text me Your email for my Booking LinkWhat makes a yoga studio thrive? It's not the logo, the schedule, or even the space — it's the teachers and the point of view that your studio holds. In this special “podcast buddy” episode, I sit down with Francesca Cervero, host of The Mentor Sessions Podcast and long-time private yoga teacher and mentor. Francesca has been teaching yoga full-time for over 20 years, runs a teacher training called The Science of the Private Lesson, and mentors yoga teachers to develop a strong, authentic teaching voice.Together, we explore the evolving yoga industry, the role of studio owners in elevating their teachers, and why having a clear point of view is more powerful (and sustainable) than trying to be everything to everyone. What you'll hear in this episode:• How yoga studios have shifted from community-led to franchise-driven — and back again• Why teachers fresh out of training aren't always ready for studio life (and how to mentor them well)• The difference between “niching down” and developing a true teaching point of view• Why your yoga studio is only as strong as the teachers who represent it• How community studios today can compete with franchise-level tools• Real talk about industry changes, competition, and what makes studios sustainable in 2025 and beyondLinks & Resources:Connect with Francesca → francescacervero.comListen to The Mentor Sessions Podcast with FrancescaBook a free strategy call with me → yogabizchamp.link/bookBook a complimentary 45 minute strategy session with the sales arms with my link https://www.thesalesarms.com/yogabizchamp Get 50% off your first three months of Offering Tree, OR 15% off an entire year with my Exclusive Discount Link Offeringtree.com/yogabizchamppodcast. In today's episode, Adrienne guides you through a deeply restorative Yoga Nidra practice designed to help you welcome new seasons, new routines, and fresh habits into your life.Yoga Nidra—often called yogic sleep—is a state of conscious relaxation that allows the body to rest deeply while your mind remains awake and aware. Unlike ordinary sleep, Yoga Nidra takes you through stages of awareness that calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and open space for clarity and renewal. Research shows that this practice can improve sleep, enhance creativity, and help integrate positive change into daily life. Our theme for this practice is embracing new beginnings—whether that's shifting into a new season, starting fresh routines, or letting go of old patterns that no longer serve you. Through body awareness, breath, intention-setting, and guided visualization, you'll plant seeds of gratitude and self-care that can grow into lasting habits. This practice is your invitation to rest, restore, and reset. Find a quiet space, lie down, and allow yourself to be guided. By the end, you may feel lighter, clearer, and more ready to step into new rhythms with intention.Send us a textWanna be on the show? This week I am chatting with yoga trainer, studio owner, and data maven, Gina Ward.Gina ran some data for yoga studio owners, so she could better inform her yoga teacher trainees what the realities of studio ownership are like. Wanna know what the data said? Yeah, I did too. Take a listen find out.KEY TAKEAWAYS:1. Studio profitability isn't guaranteed Profitability means revenue exceeds expenses—but 20% of yoga studios never reach that point. Only 25% are profitable in year one, while 55% take 1–5 years. Most studio owners earn less than people assume.2. What studio owners really earn 52% of yoga studio owners make $12–60K per year, often working 40+ hours a week. Only 12% earn more, while 18% make less than $12K. These numbers show two truths: (1) owners aren't the “big winners” of the yoga industry, and (2) we can't fix money problems we refuse to discuss. 3. Headcount ≠ success For membership-based studios, headcount is often a vanity metric. It looks good on paper but doesn't always reflect real revenue or financial health.4. Pay for prep time Gina compensates teachers for reading emails and prep work—a small but powerful shift that values teachers' time. This should be an industry standard. 5. Rethinking hiring culture Studios often expect teachers to “fit in” socially before being hired. This mindset undervalues professionalism and holds the industry back. Fair, transparent hiring practices are essential for credibility.6. Professionalism vs. friendship In wellness, blurred boundaries between “boss” and “friend” are common. But leaders set the tone: if owners expect professionalism from teachers, they must model it themselvesRESOURCESWorking In Yoga WebsiteWorking In Yoga NewsletterPodcast ShopRegister for the FREE webinarOffering Tree Discount For Working In Yoga Listeners!!Gina's Website

What if the thing you see as your biggest weakness is actually your greatest asset? This week, I'm sharing one of the best lessons I ever got from a dance professor: “If you can't fix it, feature it.” At the time, it was about choreography—but over the years, I've realized it applies to business too. From my gray hair patch (that my stylist insists I feature!) to running a home studio out of my basement in the early days, to building six-week sessions that turned into our most profitable program—what started as “flaws” or “detriments” became the exact reasons people trusted and chose my business.Inside this episode, you'll hear:

This week, I'm sharing the story of how I finally got my dream property—a year in the making, and really, years in the waiting. For so long I was hustling, grinding, stressing, and “doing all the things,” but not seeing the results I wanted. Sound familiar?Everything shifted when I stopped trying to do business like everyone else and started living in alignment with who I am. I got clear on what I wanted (yes, I literally drew it out), held onto the belief that it would happen, and released the pressure of how it would come together. That clarity—and willingness to walk away when things didn't fit—opened doors I couldn't have planned for.In this episode, I'll share:The miracles and setbacks that led me hereWhy unwavering belief (without attaching to the “how”) is powerfulHow living authentically creates alignment—and alignment attracts opportunitiesA simple reflection to check if what you're doing now is truly moving you where you want to beBy the end, you'll be inspired to pause, reflect, and get clear: Are you living in alignment with who you really are, or chasing someone else's version of success?Your GO-TO LINK for all things Brick and Mortar Visibility-: Level UP : Your Business, Your Life, Google Business Profile Workshop, Visibility Workshop, Hire Melissa, Newsletter, & Referral Partners.Love today's podcast?
AI is everywhere—and your clients can tell when you're using it. While that's not necessarily bad, it has created a shift: people are more skeptical, less trusting, and craving something real. This week, I'm talking about what that means for your marketing as a brick-and-mortar business owner—and why this is actually a massive opportunity. We'll cover:Why authenticity is your biggest marketing advantage right nowHow to meet your clients exactly where they are (instead of just telling them what you offer)Ways to make your marketing feel human without losing professionalismHow showing up less curated can create more connection—and more salesIf you've been feeling like your marketing isn't landing, this might be the shift you need.

How2Exit: Mergers and Acquisitions of Small to Middle Market Businesses
Watch Here: https://youtu.be/PnKoDPkgKFIAbout the Guest: Rosco Graves is the founder of Polaxis Professional Services and a former Deloitte advisor. He's navigated both the boardrooms of Fortune 500 companies and the trenches of small business ownership—including launching a yoga franchise. Today, he helps small business owners prepare financially for growth, funding, and exits, specializing in turning messy books into stories buyers want to hear.Summary: In this episode of How2Exit, Ron sits down with Rosco Graves—former Deloitte advisor turned entrepreneurial CFO—to unravel the financial blind spots that plague many small businesses. From owning a yoga franchise to running Polaxis Professional Services, Graves offers rare insight on what owners get wrong when starting, running, and especially exiting a business. The conversation is an eye-opening roadmap for founders, buyers, and anyone serious about unlocking business value through financial clarity. Graves doesn't just talk balance sheets—he breaks down the real-life implications of sloppy books, sketchy add-backs, and why sellers often sabotage their own exits to save a few tax dollars. This is one of the most tactical and truth-heavy episodes of the season. Key TakeawaysMost Small Business Owners Don't Understand Their Financials – Many don't know what “good books” look like, and believe that filing a tax return is sufficient for running or selling a business. You're Not Fooling Anyone with Your Add-Backs – There's a line between aggressive adjustments and devious manipulation. Sophisticated buyers will catch it.Clean Financials Win Deals – Having a finance-savvy team member who can explain your numbers is more valuable than having the best broker in the world.Sloppy Books Kill Value – Underreporting income to avoid taxes might save you 30 cents today but cost you $3 per dollar at exit.Inventory Stuffing and Payroll Gimmicks Are Red Flags – Buyers should watch for sudden revenue spikes without corresponding operational changes.Buying Existing Businesses Beats Starting from Scratch – Graves advocates for acquiring operational businesses over new franchise launches due to lower risk and immediate cash flow. You Can't Outsource Sales if You Don't Understand It – Founders must embrace being generalists early on and learn the core levers of their business.Sellers Often Sabotage Trust – If you've lied to the IRS, why would a buyer trust you? Reputation, transparency, and consistency are deal-makers.--------------------------------------------------Contact Rosco onLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/roscograves/Website: http://www.polaxis.co/--------------------------------------------------

I also offer my respects to the great teacher, Caitanya, who, 500 years ago, as a barefoot monk, traveled throughout India and introduced the process of bhakti yoga, going door to door and teaching people that it doesn't matter where you live, it doesn't matter what style you have, you don't have to change any of that. His point was to change the vibration in your life. And just as you may notice, if you have ever been to a movie—have you ever been to a movie? There's a few times, a long time ago. They have a soundscape. You can tell what the mood of the movie is by hearing the sound. I also found out, in research I'm doing for another book I'm writing, that so-called silent movies weren't silent. They were always accompanied either by a live pianist or organist, because we need sound to give us context. And there's a soundscape in our lives, and there's a saying that I like. If you don't like what you're being subjected to, anybody in any part of your life. Do you not like what you're being subjected to? Just say, yes, go along. Then change the subject. That's our free will to change the subject. And one of the ways that the great yogis have taught to change the subject is to change the sound vibration. Upgrade the sound, upgrade your life, because it upgrades your consciousness. I have been an active participant in the yoga industry since the early 2000s, and I have never really understood how brick and mortar yoga studios, especially locally owned ones without corporate backing, made it work. I've been curious about it, and I have seen a few studios run incredibly well and last a long time, but we all know those are the outliers. These spaces are so important for us as teachers and students, and for the wider community as well, but they so often struggle to survive the impact of late stage capitalism. And that was true even BEFORE the pandemic, when so many of our favorite local businesses closed down. There are not that many yoga studios that have been around for a long time, but we are VERY lucky today to hear from one of my old friends, Deb Flashenberg who has had a thriving locally owned yoga studio in New York City since 2002. AMAZING.
