The kingdom of God stands in direct opposition to a world consumed by personal ambition. Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar explore what it truly means to live with a kingdom mindset and why selfishness is one of the greatest obstacles to faithful Christian living. They explain that kingdom-mindedness means living under God's rule, reign, and authority rather than building a personal kingdom centered on recognition or control. True freedom comes when believers stop striving to make a name for themselves and instead focus on the glory of God and the good of His kingdom. The cross itself represents a complete transfer of allegiance, with every area of life falling under the authority of Christ. The guys point to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane as the perfect example of surrender to the Father's will. Even in anguish, Jesus submitted Himself completely, showing that suffering and obedience are not incompatible. They also reflect on David's life, whose continual repentance and worship revealed a heart shaped by the kingdom of God. Kingdom-mindedness produces humility, worship, and a desire to be searched and refined by the Lord. The guys emphasize that believers often become distracted by earthly concerns, preventing them from simply resting in God's presence and delighting in Him.The conversation then turns to how kingdom living shapes daily priorities and relationships. The kingdom of God is marked by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, fostering a new disposition toward sin, obedience, and community. The guys explain that Christians are not meant to live in isolation but in fellowship, learning from those who have walked faithfully before them. God has given His people resources, wisdom, and testimonies of His faithfulness to strengthen them through every season. Kingdom-minded believers recognize that their lives are not their own and that every opportunity exists for God's glory. Finally, the guys discuss the importance of resting in God's kingdom rather than being consumed by the world's noise and anxiety. Modern life is full of distractions that constantly pull attention away from God, making silence and stillness increasingly rare. The guys encourage believers to slow down, seek God first, and recognize His care in both Scripture and creation. Kingdom-mindedness means fully trusting the King, knowing that He provides, sustains, and rules with perfect goodness. In the end, believers are reminded that their ultimate inheritance is not found in earthly success but in belonging to Christ and awaiting the King's return.Send us Fan MailThanks for listening! How did the Apostle Paul go from being an enemy of Christians to defender of the faith? There would be no benefit for an enemy of the church to lie about his conversion to the faith, to preach openly and establish churches or to give them correction.  After the Resurrection Jesus appeared to Paul and chose him to herald the gospel. Paul's deep knowledge of the word lays out the basis for our hope in the Resurrection, the promise of eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15  VF-2182 Watch, Listen and Learn 24x7 at PastorMelissaScott.com Pastor Melissa Scott teaches from Faith Center in Glendale. Award-winning novelist Missouri Williams on writing strange and ambitious fiction, treating doubt as a generative force, and why idleness is essential to creative work. We discuss How a destabilising illness and a new language can reshape a writer's whole relationship to words. Why style isn't something you construct so much as a way of seeing you're partly stuck with. The case for drafting without thinking about the end result and keeping the stakes low. What an image you can't stop returning to can reveal about the book you need to write. When idleness and empty, unproductive time become the most essential part of the work. How doubt can function as a generative engine rather than a block. A method for layering instability into a narrator who sounds completely in control. What a chorus can do on the page that a single narrator can't. Why being placed outside your depth, where everything has to be relearned, can sharpen a writer. The difference between doubting your work and doubting your right to do it at all. Resources & Links

Mind Stayed on Him In this mid-week teaching at Church of the Harvest, Associate Pastor Todd Haggard addresses the pervasive spiritual challenge of the modern digital era: the saturation of our attention and the degradation of our spiritual hearing. Using the dramatic narrative of the Prophet Elijah from 1 Kings 19, Pastor Todd illustrates that a chaotic environment or an emotional crisis will actively skew a believer's perspective, making a deliberate pursuit of quiet reflection the ultimate prerequisite for processing the voice of God. Key Highlights The Hostage of Attention: Satan utilizes modern technology, targeted algorithmic marketing (such as tracking data across platforms like Amazon, Walmart, and Facebook), and sensory notifications to take the human mind hostage. Pastor Todd notes that we have become like frogs in boiling water—so accustomed to constant mental simulation that we fail to notice our attention is being systematically stolen. The Immediacy Trap: Modern search engines process roughly 100,000 requests per second, conditioning society to expect instant results. This entitlement to immediate answers creates deep friction when brought into a walk of faith, as believers begin to mistake a sovereign God's requirement for patient waiting as a lack of response or absolute rejection. The Danger of Emotional Amplification: When an individual enters a season of physical, circumstantial, or relational trauma, their internal spiritual hearing is instantly compromised. Instead of processing raw truth, the mind filters messages exclusively through the lens of active pain, causing the emotions to artificially amplify fear and distortion. The Logic of Elijah's Flight: After executing the spectacular supernatural defeat of 450 prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel, Elijah fled in absolute terror from the threats of Queen Jezebel. He traveled to Mount Horeb (Sinai)—the exact opposite end of the kingdom. While Elijah was actively running from an earthly crisis, his instinct subconsciously guided him toward the historically established mountain of God. The Sovereign Whisper: God did not position His presence inside the mountain-shattering wind, the structural trauma of the earthquake, or the blazing heat of the fire. Instead, He chose to communicate through a fragile, low-whisper cadence ("a gentle whisper"). God uses the subtle volume of a whisper to demand that a believer quiet their environment and pull close to hear Him. The Spectrum of Spiritual Hearing: Noise vs. The Whisper [ HIGH VOLUME: THE STREET LEVEL ] ────► Notifications, News Alerts, Anxiety, Chaos │ ▼ (The Transition: Active Isolation & Cave Mentalities) │ [ LOW VOLUME: THE THRONE LEVEL ] ────► The Gentle Whisper, Patient Trust, Wisdom Source of Sound Structural Character The Impact on the Believer's Mind The Earthly Torrent Digital alerts, targeted tracking, social media loops, and cultural paranoia (e.g., alien conspiracies, global panics). Creates a thick layer of static that clogs the cognitive ability to filter eternal truth from temporary noise. The Voice of Crisis Intense screaming, emotional reactions, active wounds, and feelings of utter isolation ("I am the only one left"). Distorts logic and forces the individual to interpret God's behavior through their current hurt rather than His historical character. The Gentle Whisper Sovereignly timed, slow-paced, intimate, requiring stillness and the total abandonment of performance. Calibrates internal perspective, imparts true structural understanding, and restores clear direction for the calling. Core Message: Trusting the Heart When Blind to the Hand The core directive of the teaching centers on breaking free from the cultural demands for quick, easy formulas. When your current circumstances are completely obscured by structural shifting, you must lean on the historical consistency of God's character. "All the information in the world is useless if you don't know how to apply it and use it... Quick answers usually aren't great answers. When we can't see His hand, we trust His heart." Scriptural Foundations Isaiah 26:3: The promise of absolute, perfect emotional preservation for the mind that remains unswervingly fixed on God. 1 Kings 19:11-18: The structural recording of Elijah's retreat into the cave at Horeb, the subsequent atmospheric disruptions, and the realization of God's presence within the low whisper. Proverbs 4:7: The paramount structural command of scriptural living: "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." "Thanks for listening! Our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters in Iran are not shying away from being bold for Christ with their family and friends—even as a war is going on around them. This week, you'll meet Sister Benesh, a bold evangelist and house church planter in Iran. In her first five years following Christ, she planted more than 30 house churches. Inside the Islamic Republic of Iran! Benesh grew up in a Muslim home, but over time, she began to question many aspects of Islamic teaching. As a teenager, she remembers hearing some women talking about the fact that Christian women—without the oppressive restrictions of Islam—were more free than Muslim women. Benesh became curious to know more about Christianity and the peace and love Jesus offers. Benesh's father became very sick while she was in college. Her mother prayed repeatedly to Allah to heal him, but it didn't work. Benesh's father died. Shortly after, her mother died too. Her grief at the loss of her parents pushed Benesh even further to seek answers about Christ. First, she looked online. Then, after moving to a bigger city for employment, a coworker invited her to a church meeting. Experiencing Christian worship and fellowship for the first time, Benesh knew Jesus was calling her to put her faith and trust in Him. Despite her parents' death, Benesh had peace from God—a peace that shocked her sister and other family members. Many were curious why she was different, which gave her open doors to share Jesus. At first, Benesh feared what her family or others would say or do if she shared Christ with them, but she quickly overcame that fear when she realized how hungry Iranians are for the truth. Sharing your faith can be dangerous in Islamic countries, but Benesh was so focused on sharing the joy she'd found in Christ that she almost forgot about the threat of the Islamic regime and Revolutionary Guards! Listen as Benesh tells how we can pray for her ministry, for the Iranian regime, and for bold witnesses for Christ in the Middle East—and as she challenges every Christian to tell others about Jesus! When one becomes a Christ-follower the common, if unspoken, expectation is that life will take a dramatic turn, even an amazing turn, for the better. But the truth is, Christians are people, too. And life is characterized by frequent stretches, seasons even, of boredom for Christians. What do we make of those stretches? Are long stretches of boredom the result of sin? Or, is it the case that boredom is actually a luxury? Mark and I think through boredom, this out-of-the box topic. The Scriptures don't say anything expressly about boredom, so what should a believer think? In the show's opening I also offer several suggestions for how Christians should go about processing the news of alien (UFO, UAP) intelligence and presences. What should we do with what may be unprecedented information?! Come laugh and think with us.

Send us Fan MailDavid Norman retired last school year with 31 years under his belt as a NC HS Social Studies teacher and baseball coach. David is now running Norman Financial Coaching and supports teachers in a variety of ways with their finances. David has a wealth of knowledge about teaching and growing your wealth, we hit on a variety of subjects during this introduction to David Norman to the FIT audience. Below is a little about David and his thoughts on teachers and the "vow of poverty" we take to go into education. The Teacher's Myth...You took a vow of poverty when you became an educator.  I have been a teacher all of my life, or so I have been told.  I started getting paid to teach in 1994.  While my career is certainly in the later innings, I have found my 3rd or 4th rejuvenating burst of energy as I transition into full time financial coaching even as I help launch the Economics and Personal Finance curriculum for our State, District, and my School.  As my National Board Certification and almost two decade role as a NB Facilitator for my District has taught me, the single most important element to a child's learning is having a highly qualified and motivated teacher.  Even the most dynamic teachers, however, cannot be at their best if they are stressed, exhausted, or unduly frustrated.  Financial stress can create and compound the above and has made a good many of my colleagues question their career choice, some even leaving the profession as a result. My mission is to show teachers a way to have their cake and eat it too.  We can, and many do, build wealth even as we fully engage our students and make a career out of our calling.  The belief that teachers take a vow of poverty once they commit to a career in education is a myth!  In fact, this myth applies to many middle-class incomes, not just educators.  While "you didn't get into teaching for the money," may be true, it doesn't mean we shouldn't challenge the narrative that teachers are destined to live paycheck to paycheck, holding on for dear life until eligible for their pension.  In fact, if we are intentional with our money, the teaching profession affords us many opportunities to build wealth that others do not have.  Equally as important, the far more valuable commodity of time is more readily available to us than in most professions.  Taken together, time and a new money mindset can be powerful tools to both create a comfortable post-teaching life, as well as a tremendously rich journey throughout our careers. https://www.normanfinancialcoaching.com/

In this episode, Pastor Rachel introduces the "believer's battlecry" found in Jude 3, calling every Christian to "contend for the faith" with a heart completely surrendered to God's purpose. Moving beyond a "fire insurance" faith, she challenges listeners to become John 8:29 believers who live to please the Father in every season, trading the "fear of man" for the "applause of heaven". The message provides a practical biblical prescription for spiritual vitality: building ourselves up on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping ourselves in the love of God as outlined in Jude 20-21. Through stirring accounts of the Moravian missionaries and her own journey of choosing Christ over cultural popularity, Pastor Rachel illustrates that contending for the faith requires intentionality in our marriages, media choices, and marketplaces. Ultimately, this teaching reminds us that as we take responsibility for our inner man and stand on the victory of Christ, we will be strengthened to do great exploits for the Kingdom (Daniel 11:32).
