Happy last Thursday in May! As we round out the end of May, I (Allison) am finishing up the last week of my maternity leave! She asked: "My previous functional medicine provider put me on a supplement for my estrogen dominance about a year ago. Since then, I have been taking I-3-C Plus Dim and Calcium-D-Glucarate everyday. Happy May! As we step into the months of April and May, I (Allison) am finishing up my maternity leave. To give me a break from podcasting, we're pulling content from our group coaching calls inside our private coaching group, the Better Belly Blueprint, to share with YOU. Today's topic is from my client Krista. She asked: "What are the possible causes of oxalates being that high? I had no candida or mold on my OAT and I don't feel like I overeat oxalates... To be truthful, my true vices in everything that I have given up have oxalates - coffee, dark chocolate and a good glass of red wine. I am giving up wine this month while doing these protocols (as well as all alcohol) - which I only had 2 glasses a week. I am weaning off coffee (only had two literal sips today of half calf because I LOVE the taste) and I am really hoping I don't have to completely give up chocolate - but what do you think?" Krista's question comes from the fact that she got testing inside our program that showed that she has elevated levels of oxalates in her body that was part of the root causes driving her symptoms. Oxalates come from a variety of places, but one place you can control them the most is in your diet. What she REALLY wanted to know is - what foods does she actually have to give up? Is it all foods with oxalates? Is her oxalate problem really about food - or is it possibly something else? This is a GREAT question and one that opened us up to talking about the DEEPER root causes of oxalates other than food (because oxalate sensitivity is NEVER just about food!). Learn the wide range of histamine intolerance symptoms, why the low histamine diet isn't enough, and the 6 root causes to high histamine.---Histamine Intolerance is one of the most misunderstood, poorly treated chronic illness issues out there.Most commonly, it is oversimplified as simply an issue that can be resolved by diet control. Unfortunately, the low histamine diet does not heal histamine intolerance at all, but merely masks the issue through symptom managmenet.Can a low histamine diet reduce histamine symptoms? Yes.Can you ever get off of the low histamine diet through doing the diet alone? No. The low histamine diet does NOT heal your sensitivity to histamine (which is actually possible).
