MTL Cannabis CEO Mike Perron joined Steve Darling from Proactive to to discuss the ethos and operations of their family-founded company, which places a high value on the quality and potential of the cannabis plant. The company's focus is primarily on flower-based products, including dry flower and pre-rolls. However, Perron notes that they are also venturing into hash production, leveraging their in-house knowledge and capabilities to broaden their product portfolio. Perron highlighted to Proactive the significant growth MTL Cannabis has experienced, attributing it to organic business development strategies. Remarkably, until January last year, the company's sales efforts were spearheaded by a single, highly dedicated sales representative. This individual not only worked with provincial boards but also took personal initiatives to promote the brand to dispensaries and budtenders during weekends. Furthermore, Perron provided insights into MTL Cannabis's agreement with Canada House Wellness Group, a company deeply rooted in clinics and medical cannabis, originally established by veterans for veterans. The veteran community constitutes a crucial segment of their business, accounting for about 96% of their medical cannabis sales. Canada House operates 12 clinics across the country, including virtual ones, with a strategic presence near military bases to best serve the veteran population. #proactiveinvestors #mtlcannabis #cse #mtlc #CannabisIndustry #CEOInterview #CannabisBusiness #CanadianCannabis #CannabisNews #StrategicGrowth #QualityFlower #MedicalMarijuana #RecreationalCannabis #CBDProducts #CannabisCommunity #Entrepreneurship #RTOSuccess #CannabisCulture #InnovationInCannabis #CanadianBusiness #HealthAndWellness #OrganicGrowth #FinancialStability #IndustryInsights #CannabisInnovation #VPofSalesStory #CannabisExpansion #2024Plans #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Libby Znaimer is joined by Paula Fletcher, Toronto City Councillor for Toronto-Danforth, David Crombie, former Mayor of Toronto, and Karen Stintz, CEO of Variety Village and a former Toronto City Councillor and former mayoral candidate. The mayoral race keeps growing. There are now at least 68 candidates vying for the City's top job. Will we reach 70 by week's end? And, what about the closure of a section of Queen Street in the downtown core as construction for the Ontario Line commences there? Do we really expect that it will only last four years? And what about the impact it will no doubt have on pedestrian, car and transit traffic? There are clearly many questions left unanswered about the challenges our City currently faces. ---- MILLINER DAVID DUNKLEY ON HATS AT THE CORONATION Libby Znaimer is now joined by David Dunkley, a Toronto-based milliner who specializes in making couture hats. David is in London as part of the Coronation festivities for King Charles III. The master milliner will be on demand selling his very own hats to those celebrating this milestone in the royal family history. He will be assisting those at Canada House as well. He joins Libby to weigh in on the celebrations, his favourite colours and styles of hat and the kinds of designs he has included in his catalogue. ---- A CODE OF CONDUCT TO HOLD GROCERS ACCOUNTABLE Libby Znaimer is now joined by Michael Graydon, CEO of supplier industry group Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada and co-chair of the steering committee, overseeing the code. An official code of conduct to hold grocers accountable has reached a final draft. It includes a process to resolve disputes and impose sanctions on continuous violators. However, it stops short of actually imposing fines on bad actors. So, what exactly does this code of conduct actually look like and will it be enough to keep the grocers in check? Listen live, weekdays from noon to 1, on Zoomer Radio!
Hello…this is Bo Kauffmann of Remax in Winnipeg, with your real estate news for… Monday, April 17th, 2023… Today is National Crawfish Day and Bat appreciation day (the mammal, not the stick) Just a few weeks ago, we were wondering if cheap credit and government-led relief measures would stop Canada's real estate market from going down. According to figures from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) that came out this morning, the benchmark home price went up a lot in March. Canadian Real Estate Prices Jump $12k Last month. In March, the average home went up 1.7%, or $12,300, to $727,700. It comes after a 1.0% rise (+$7,100) in February and is the second increase in a month since the correction started. Even though two months doesn't seem like much, it's enough to change the direction of the annual trend. In March, home prices dropped by 15.5%, or $133,300 as compared to last year. The 12-month drop is the biggest fall in CREA's benchmark's history. Since the standard only goes back to 2005, it's hard to say how this compares to the correction in the 1990s. At the same time, this might be the fastest rate of turnaround. Prices of properties don't move in a straight line, so it's too early to tell what will happen. For more on this report, go to https://boknows.homes/8c2f1d90 Here in Winnipeg, we should also focus on one figure that I just mentioned: The benchmark home in Canada sits at 727K??? Not around Winnipeg, where you can get a really nice, detached bungalow for about half that amount. In fact, I just listed a nice 1300 ft bungalow on an acre property just south of Ile des Chenes for $350K. Thinking of buying? Ben Luke talks to Allison Katz about her influences in the realms of literature, music and, of course, art, and the cultural experiences that have shaped her life and work. Born in Montreal in 1980, Katz is an artist who probes the complexities of painting, drawing on diverse imagery, a range of painterly techniques and distinctive forms of display to create environments that are by turns delightful and perplexing, but always enthralling. The longer you spend in the company of Katz's work, the more the associations, the playful connections, and the fundamental rigour of her thinking emerge. In this conversation, she discusses the influence of being a life model at a young age, and making numerous “portraits” of a painting of a woman by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. She reflects on paintings by Edgar Degas and Andrea del Verrocchio, among others, discusses how the poet and translator Richard Howard helped her read poetry and see that frivolity could be serious, and expresses wonder at British radio programmes, including sporting commentary. And she answers the questions we ask all our guests, including the ultimate one: what is art for?Allison Katz: Artery, Camden Art Centre, London, until 13 March. That exhibition originated in a slightly different form at Nottingham Contemporary, and a catalogue accompanying the two versions of the show will be published in early 2023. An exhibition of Katz's posters is at Canada House, London, until 26 March. Her paintings are in The Milk of Dreams, the central exhibition at the Venice Biennale, 23 April-27 November. She has a solo exhibition at Luhring Augustine, New York, in September. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This podcast features SolGold CEO Nick Mather accepting The Northern Miner's "Mining Person of the Year" award for 2018, first announced in March 2019. The award is in recognition of Nick's role as the driving force behind the wildly successful grassroots exploration team that has drilled off the world-class Alpala copper-gold deposit at its Cascabel project in Imbabura province in northern Ecuador. Even with 3 billion tonnes now sitting in the resource category, these are still early days for SolGold at Cascabel, with potentially many more discoveries to come in the region. In this episode we meet some of the people whose stories are told in the musical Come From Away which opened last month at the Phoenix Theatre in the West End. If you aren’t familiar with the show, it’s about what happened when the US airspace was closed on 9/11. 38 planes were forced to land at Gander airport on a Canadian island called Newfoundland. The 7,000 people from those planes were taken in and looked after by the people of Gander and nearby towns for five days before the planes were allowed to take off again. I was recently invited to go and have a chat with some of the Newfoundlanders and some of the plane people who were stranded there at the time. They’d come to London see the show and meet the actors playing them. And for one afternoon they all got together on the top floor of Canada House, overlooking Trafalgar Square, where once again, they told their versions of what happened on the north east tip of north America in September 2001. This mini-podcast features a clash of visions between Franco-Nevada chairman Pierre Lassonde and new Barrick Gold president and CEO Mark Bristow on the value of keeping Barrick's Canadian identity and robust head office presence in Toronto. With Bristow becoming Barrick's operating head on Jan. 1 with the finalization of the merger between Barrick and Bristow's Randgold Resources, Lassonde had a few choice words to say about the matter in the media and at the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame induction ceremony in January. During Bristow's first conference call with Barrick shareholders on Feb. 13, he gave a fuller explanation of the company's corporate restructuring, and rebutted what he called "those short little hysterical cries about us closing down stuff." Mark Bristow will be one of five keynote speakers at The Northern Miner's third annual Canadian Mining Symposium at Canada House in London on May 22. The interview is recorded live at The Northern Miner's Canadian Mining Symposium held in late April at Canada House at Trafalgar Square. Happy #PDAC2017 week! Matt and Lesley are back with a great edition of the Geology Corner wherein we discuss some outlandish mining deals from cycles past, including: finding gold in the Ottawa River, sifting through sewage, and interstellar adventures! Discussion also includes advice for navigating the PDAC conference, and recent moves in copper and gold that appear to be underpinned by socio-economic announcements out of the U.S. and China. Meanwhile, Matt sits down with Otis Gold (TSXV: OOO; US-OTC: OGLDF) president Craig Lindsay to chat about the Kilgore gold deposit in Idaho, where the company is looking at releasing a maiden preliminary economic assessment (PEA) on a proposed heap-leach operation in the next twelve months. We talk about recent drill success and the discovery of the Aspen corridor, as well as a subsequent $5-million strategic investment from Agnico Eagle Mines (TSX: AEM; NYSE: AEM). Matt also details the exciting announcement of The Northern Miner's Canadian Mining Symposium in London on May 9, 2017. The Symposium will take place at Canada House on Trafalgar Square in the lead up to Canada celebrating its 150th anniversary of Confederation. Speakers include Robert Friedland and Lukas Lundin. Today's guest painted Hockey Knights in Canada, the famous murals that are opposite each other at the College Street Subway station. His name is Charles Pachter, and his work not only adorns subway halls in downtown Toronto, but also the Canadian Embassy in Washington, Canada House in London, the Parliament Buildings, the Prime Minister’s residence, and the Embassy of France in Ottawa. There’s also a short video that goes with this episode that I’ve posted to Youtube. It's called 'Canada's Artist' Charles Pachter. We know there is a business side to show business. How much do you know about the business side in the art world? And what can you learn about the mindset of an agent, regardless of your creative discipline? Your best insurance for success is to understand how the business or administrative side of your art form works to promote your success and access to wider audiences. Barbara Pelham, owner and director of the world famous Canada House Gallery in Banff, Canada gives us a peek behind the canvas at the interactions between the artists, collectors and agents (galleries) that facilitate the movement of art from artists’ studios and galleries to the homes, offices and museums of collectors around the world. Dedicated to serving Canadian artists and a global network of art collectors, Barbara’s staff coordinates the marketing and promotion of artists and the pricing of their works globally in a unique win/win/win situation. One of the more successful practices is to arrange gatherings where artists and potential purchasers get to meet each other and create personal as well as professional relationships. One of the best training grounds for developing artists may be to work in a gallery atmosphere for a time to get a feel for how the deals are done and relationships are built. Learning to communicate with the gallery’s clients may in fact serve budding artists well in eventually marketing their work … especially if they’ve found their own niche and applied their knowledge, expertise and technique to create works that are unique. Barbara fills you in on the role each of these players play in a way that will inspire you to rethink your own approach to your own creative work. In whatever form it may take.
