Greetings my movie maniacs and my fellow freedom-fueled film fanatics! I bring you another Movies Merica episode in my Horror House series and this time I'm spoiler-free reviewing Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the horror classic The Shining. The little boy Danny Torrance from The Shining is all grown up and can still shine, but it makes him a target of the ghosts from The Outlook Hotel. He's learned to live with it but he discovers a young girl, Abra, who can also shine is a target of a new evil. A group of psychic vampires that feed on the shine of children then kill them. Danny must step up to protect Abra and take care of unfinished business. Ewan McGregor stars as Danny, now Dan Torrance, Kyliegh Curran as Abra and Rebecca Ferguson plays the sinister Rose The Hat. Doctor Sleep also stars Cliff Curtis, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Selena Anduze, Carel Struycken, Bruce Greenwood, Robert Longstreet, Katie Parker, Jamie Flanagan, Met Clark, Zackary Momoh, Jocelin Donahue, Dakota Hickman, Carl Lumbly and Henry Thomas.Support the showFeel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

It's time to turn the Thanksgiving tables on the colonizers, practice your tango, and think about Debbie's needs as we get all together ooky with Barry Sonnenfeld's Addams Family Values (1993). Should we give the incomparable Joan Cusack most of the credit for making this sequel better than the original? Or does it go to the incredibly precocious Christina Ricci, who might be the best child star of her generation? Are Angelica Huston and Raul Julia the ultimate relationship goals on-screen couple? And is Uncle Fester's O face in this movie even creepier than Dan Ackroyd's in Ghostbusters? All we know it that we want to find the kind of loving acceptance the Addams Family bestows so easily.

Reach for your 80s hair goals and get that voodoo doll ready as we embrace our dream of joining an all-powerful coven in The Witches of Eastwick (1987, yet again). Who had more fun playing the devil, Jack Nicholson or Al Pacino? (And yes, we will cover The Devil's Advocate soon, don't you worry.) Is this film feminist or not? Should Helen let go of her grudge against Susan Sarandon, after nearly being run down by her on a scooter? Does Veronica Cartwright deserve an Oscar for her incredibly unhinged performance? We're too busy enjoying our gorgeous mansion and giant butler to worry about the contractual details.

Overlapping Dialogue's 2nd Annual Spooktober Spooktacular marches on with a duo of films that will be sure to scare your socks off, either through genuine terror or the fact that they're genuinely terrible. Up first, George Romero's 1985 conclusion to his legendary zombie "trilogy," Day of the Dead. We dig into a discussion about why exactly this least celebrated entry of the three is perhaps the series' most narratively and thematically daring offering and find every opportunity to crack up at the ironically excessive performance of Joe Pilato as Captain Rhodes. Speaking of unhinged hilarity...our second film, Addams Family Reunion is most certainly the former in its unsuccessful attempt in achieving the latter. Listen as we puzzle over the appeal of the creepiest and cookiest family in all of pop culture, take stock of the 90s craze of TV to film adaptations, try deciphering the plot of this half-baked disaster, and take every ounce of solace we can in a far-too-good old geezer turn from the great Ray Walston. Abstract, maar goed gevonden: https://bit.ly/3cAD8l7. # Cyclomer foto’s via https://bit.ly/39wAz1x.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and written by Paul Rudnick, Addam Family Values is based on the characters created by Charles Addams and is the sequel to The Addams Family (1991). The film features many cast members from the original, including Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd, Christina Ricci, Carel Struycken, Jimmy Workman, and Christopher Hart. But this time we've got Joan Cusack. That Film Stew's Luke and Nathan take a look at this follow up, that although reunites the cast, might not have hit the landing in capturing the magic of the 1960s sitcom like the first movie did. Joan Cusack plays a serial killer who marries Uncle Fester (Lloyd) intending to murder him for his inheritance, while teenagers Wednesday (Ricci) and Pugsley (Workman) are sent to summer camp.
