#884 | In this crossover episode of 'No Question About That' and 'The Promised Land' Ed chats to Scott Saunders, about a myriad of topics surrounding Manchester United. They address the unbearable summer heat, the impact of losing a close friend and podcast partner, and the challenges of recording content during the noisy summer months. Focus shifts to the football club's difficulties this past year, particularly the struggles with transfers and the inevitable media frenzy. They evaluate the club's state-of-the-union, potential incoming and outgoing transfers, and the importance of patience for fans during the rebuild process. There is a strong emphasis on the need for a new goalkeeper, striker, and midfielder to enhance the team's spine. The hosts also touch on player development, the intricacies of dealing with underperforming or high-wage players, and the financial realities facing the club. Allison Williams' filmography is loaded with variety, but it's also packed with examples of how one project can influence another — even if they're in entirely different genres. There's the hit HBO comedy-drama series Girls, which first sent Williams' star skyrocketing. As that show wound down, Williams headlined a feature film for the very first time, Jordan Peele's Academy Award-winning horror movie Get Out. Williams continued to enjoy great success in the genre, but wound up exploring an entirely different corner of it with the horror-comedy M3GAN. Now, M3GAN 2.0 let's her do just that yet again as the horror-comedy concept becomes a horror-comedy-action film.M3GAN 2.0 picks up about two years after the events of the original film. Since Gemma's (Williams) A.I. creation went on a murderous rampage, she's put her focus on advocating for government oversight of artificial intelligence. However, when Gemma discovers that the M3gan tech wasn't entirely destroyed and was used to create a military-grade weapon called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), she's left with no choice but to resurrect and team up with M3gan to stop Amelia from growing too far beyond the control of her human creators. With M3GAN 2.0 now playing in theaters nationwide, Williams joined me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to retrace her journey in film and television thus far, and to dig into how her craft in front of and behind the lens has evolved. This is a very fun special crossover of AOP and Daddy Dailies with host Vika Stubblebine. She actor, writer, director and stand up comedian who most recently wrote on CBS's S.W.A.T.. She is a co-founder of Not Your Daddy's Films, a social impact organization dedicated to empowering and educating women and nonbinary filmmakers through events, screenings and podcasts. The community they've built is truly remarkable. When you find your people - the ones who share your wavelength and want to build something meaningful together - the chaos becomes creative fuel rather than overwhelming noise. Both our shows are doing essential work highlighting the voices and experiences of those often overlooked in the industry. This crossover was a perfect example of what happens when we can come together to share knowledge rather than hoard it. Enjoy xx AOP SUBSTACK
“Fascism isn't just about power—it's about controlling the stories we tell. It warps narratives to justify oppression, trapping us in cycles of dominance and despair. But stories can also resist, break those cycles, and open the door to something new.“ This is how YouTuber and hardcore Trekkie Jessie Gender starts her video essay “The Stories Fascism Fears Most“ which we highly recommend. A few weeks ago, Elia Ayoub sat down with Jessie to talk about it. They got into their love of Star Trek - because of course they did - as well as other franchises like The Matrix. Edward Ginis, Founder and CEO of OpenPlay, attended his 15th Music Biz Conference this year. In this episode, he discusses how the Conference continues to evolve with the times, providing true substance and debate over platitudes and hype. In the same vein, Edward touches on just how crucial it is for our industry to nurture entrepreneurs and startups in a mutually beneficial relationship. He discusses how the Conference's startup programming, including OpenPlay's “Break The Silos. Build The Future.” Hackathon, allows our industry to both progress in tandem with the tech space and show investors that music companies are worth collaborating with. Finally, he covers hot-button topics such as AI and copyright registration, and how we as an industry have to step up where the government leaves gaps!

We're back! Welll, I mean, we weren't like, gone, really, just not releasing shows. We released a show! And it's a part one of two, so that means we will have released two shows! Nothing will stop us now! One Halloween, long ago, one of our Crossover episodes got religion. Or rather, the discussion about the comic that we were covering with guests Tim Price and Sean, Podcast Host and Man of Knowledge, turned to that topic without having been planned that way, and we wound up having an informative and extremely interesting discussion. You can listen to that here: https://marriedwcomics.libsyn.com/mephisto-vs-the-podcasters-three-god-dracula-and-everything-else It was well-received by our listeners and we were complimented on how civil and non-jujdemental we came across. Since this surprised us as much as anyone, we thought we'd have them on again for a (slightly) more structured discussion. In part one, we cover the Fantastic Four: Hereafter arc, and talk about death and resurrection in comics, how aspects of the story come across when filtered through the lenses of different faiths (Including how one story element is technically blasphemous for different reasons for different religions, but only if you're really really trying to see it that way. In Part 2, we will have a no-questions forbidden roundtable on religion, in which we compare and contrast dogma, talk about how each of our religions thinks about the other ones, and all sorts of other things that you'd think would have led to huge arguments, but didn't! We decided to split this episode, both due to the time, and content: part one is more comics focused and part two is more religion focused. This will allow people that are not interested in one or the other topic the opportunity to focus on the one they want. After both are published, we may publish one that includes both, for all you completists out there. Here's one of Sean's shows: https://fireandwaterpodcast.com/show/wonderwoman/ Here are Tim's: Www.thehuntresspodcast.com

This week's episode is a little different than usual - but stick with me, I promise it's worth it.Rather than diving into a British murder case or chatting with a true crime expert, I'm joined by my good mates John and Josh from across the pond for a special ‘Am I the A**ehole?' session.John and Josh are two-thirds of the hit podcast 'Reddit on Wiki' - and after months of back and forth (they're busy lads), I finally managed to sit down with them and record this long-overdue crossover. If you're unfamiliar with AITA, here's the gist: Josh reads out wild moral dilemmas he finds on Reddit, and John and I weigh in on whether the original poster was out of line… or just misunderstood.Yes, it's a bit of a curveball from my usual content - but if you're into stories about questionable behaviour, moral grey areas, and you fancy a good laugh, I think you'll enjoy this one.Head to redditonwiki.com to learn more about my guests and their show.***This session was recorded on April 4, 2025.Join my Patreon community at patreon.com/britishmurders for exclusive perks, including early access to ad-free episodes, bonus episodes and content, exciting giveaways, and welcome goodies!Follow me on social media:Facebook | British Murders with Stuart BluesInstagram | @britishmurdersTikTok | @britishmurdersJoin the private Facebook group:British Murders Podcast - Discussion GroupVisit my website:britishmurders.comIntro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'davidjohnbrady.com Hosted on Acast.
