Video animation by: Big Flowers Intro/Outro beat by: BLOODBLIXING The Plug (0:39). The Interview (2:07). Throughout my life, music has consistently been a vital channel for me to process emotions and make sense of the world. Very few artists have allowed me to explore the darkness and melancholy swirling around in my head quite like Sadistik. Since the moment I first heard Sadistik's music over a decade ago, I was taken aback by his beautifully-poetic and vulnerable approach to creating hip-hop music. He also had a knack for collaborating with producers who understand his artistic vision - creating moody, dark, and cinematic soundscapes for his words, working with the likes of Blue Sky Black Death, Kno of CunninLynguists fame, and most recently Maulskull, the producer for his latest opus, Oblivion Theater. In today's episode we dive into Sadistik's affinity for the darker things in life, his writing process, and the makings of his great new album with Maulskull, Oblivion Theater. Sadistik's affinity for darker subject matter (2:36). The personal experience of creating such emotional and heavy music (9:46). Origins of Sadistik's interest in horror, human psyche, and filmmaking (12:31). How Sadistik discovered his signature sound (20:41). Sadistik's writing process (24:45). Sadistik and Kno's creative connection (30:45). The production vision for Oblivion Theater (34:36). Key inspiration behind Oblivion Theater (37:12). Oblivion Theater's messaging (40:17). Major rap influences for Sadistik (46:46). Upcoming projects / tour dates / merch (50:39). In this episode we review records from Duane Eddy, Cunninlynguists, Mrs. Piss, EMA and Iowa City's own Sinner Frenz!!! We also talk about Barq's Root Beer and the real meaning behind their slogan "Barq's has bite". Plus the lie and importance of caffiene, how hot chips and energy drinks remind Dan of cybergoths, hippy goths and strobe lights and how life could have no consequences!!!

This week I sit down with the founding member of CunninLynguists and QN5 Music representative, Deacon the Villian. We talk about the days growing up as a preachers son in Kentucky, to Kno's new Built to Fade album. Of course, we reminisce about Big L, The B.U.M.S., sampling and chat about the events surrounding the pivotal album, A Piece of Strange, an album that almost became the new name for the group. A Piece of Strange is a dense concept record that explores the religion and racism that are staples of the south, and questions the space between right and wrong that will always resonate. Lastly, we chat about the events leading up to The Off Daze side project, which leads us through excursions in Paris, remaining 100% sample free and how underground hip-hop bubbled up from the decline of the mainstream. Deacon expects to release a new song every three weeks throughout 2020, so he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.Show Website: https://www.bedroombeethovens.comShow will be uploaded at 12 Midnight Central following show releaseFollow us on social mediaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/hlnfradionetworkTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/HLNF_BulletinInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/heartlandnewsfeedMastadon: https://liberdon.com/@heartlandnewsfeedDiscord: https://discord.gg/6b6u6DTSupport us with your financial supportStreamlabs: https://streamlabs.com/heartlandmediaPayPal: https://www.paypal.me/heartlandmediaSquare Cash: https://cash.app/$heartlandnewsfeedPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/heartlandnewsfeedCrypto via 1UpCoin: https://1upcoin.com/donate/heartlandmedia

It has been said in the music industry that “it’s not what you know, but who you know, that makes one successful.” Taylor “Cas Metah” Hogle may argue that who you know, has a great impact on what you know. A quick listen to the Ohio native’s music reveals his understanding that life is about relationships. A glance at his discography reveals just how well he understands it, and how well he puts it into practice. Cas Metah is a friend to all true hip-hop heads, and he thinks it’s about time you get acquainted. Taylor Hogle fell in love with hip-hop as a teenager. Never one to shy away from commitment, Cas wrote raps for two years before ever touching a microphone! In 1997 he began recording homemade mixtapes and gaining a rep locally. Alongside 2-Tone, Ruffian, Shaw Bihland several other hungry talents, Cas formed Field Specialists. Metah quickly became the crews leader/in- house engineer, nicknaming his home studio the “Guest Room” due to the frequency of company and all night sessions. In 2002 Cas pressed up Key Tah Life, his first album of all original material. A chance meeting with JustMe in ‘03, led to a great friendship and the formation of Scribbling Idiots. Over the years the collective has discovered amazing talent worldwide and currently boasts the following “family” members: JustMe, Cas Metah, Theory Hazit, Elias, ReFlex the Architect, MP Ancient, Wonder Brown, Mouf Warren, MattmaN and Jaq. From landing opening gigs with Joell Ortiz, Twista, The Pharcydeand Bizzy Bone just to name a few, to hitting up tour dates with vets like CunninLynguists, J-Live and Aceyalone, the list goes on and on as Cas continues to create a large buzz in hip-hop circles on and off stage. Due in large part to Cas’ tireless work in the studio, he has released numerous albums, EP’s and/or single songs on his own, as well as with several established record labels, including: Plattertude Recordings (U.K.), Illect Recordings, End Of Earth Records, Dunsin’ Donuts (Japan), Soulspazm, and BBM (Baka Boyz Media)/Empire Distribution. When it comes to collaborating with some of the best known (and unknown) artists in the game, Cas has worked with nearly everybody! Here’s just a highlight reel: Masta Ace, Kno, Witchdoctor, T-mo Goodie, 4th Disciple, LMNO, Deacon The Villain, Mars ILL, Copywrite, J. Rawls, Hell Razah, Shabazz The Disciple, Mista Sinista, Audible Doctor, Blueprint, J57, Craig G, D.V. Alias Khryst, Casual, Wordsworth, Yukmouth, Ras Kass, Ahmad & Ski Beatz! Wow! Perhaps more impressive than any of the credits listed above, is the countless guest appearances, cameos, and side-projects Cas has piled up throughout the past two decades. Prolific doesn’t begin to explain this young man’s writing ability. Nor does it explain his magnetic personality and networking skills. Just Google the name “Cas Metah” and it will take you down a plethora of rabbit holes! And if you don’t know, now you know!

The SetList is a music podcast hosted by Forth District’s A&R, Adan Bean, and features artist from every part of the musical landscape. The SetList seeks to reveal an artist’s interests, influences, and background in music like no other interview has done before. On this episode, Adan sits down with the Kentucky-bred offshoot group The Off Daze! Deacon Tha Villain and Natti (Cunninglynguist) and Sheisty Khrist (NWL) talk through the origin of their incredible project and what it's like growing up in the KY music scene. We also delve into unforgettable stories about Kanye West being unrecognized in the middle of the streets of Norway, Cee-Lo down on his luck, and Macklemore when he retired...before the superstardom of "Thrift Shop" fame. We discuss it all! Psychedelic and boogie-influenced love raps are the order of the day on this good time collaboration between Natti and Deacon The Villain from Kentucky’s CunninLynguists crew and Sheisty Khrist. Over the bouncing bass and ‘80s synths of “Couple’s Skate,” the duo name-check fellow funked-up hip-hop crew Digital Underground before announcing, “It’s like you and me flowing through the ether / The sounds of the quiet storm going through the speaker.” Closing cut “Who Are You?” moves in a poppier direction with a rousing chorus sung over upbeat, guitar-and-scratch production. ~ Bandcamp Daily (Best Hip Hop on Bandcamp Aug'18) Mixed and Edited by DJ Opdiggy Recorded at the Orange Fuzz studio. Lilla Al-Fadji i P3 hördes första gången sommaren 2009. Karaktären Lilla Al-Fadji spelas av Felipe Leiva Wenger, även känd som Fille i rapduon Ison & Fille.

On The Library with Tim Einenkel, Tim talks with Hip-Hop Artist Substantial about his latest album "Home is Where The Art Is." This interview will air in three parts, here is part 1 of the interview. More on Substantial below: Substantial is synonymous with hip-hop, from the U.V. Ink label he launched, to the lyrical dexterity of his common-man flow. His debut solo album, To This Union A Sun Was Born (Hyde Out Productions), did well everywhere, especially in Japan where it hit the Top 10. This success set off a career touring Asia, Europe and almost all of North America. As things got busier, Substantial linked with QN5 Music to focus solely on artistic creation. That led to profound collaborations with the legendary DJ Kool Herc, Bootsy Collins, Chew Fu, Cunninlynguists, Nujabes (R.I.P.) and an appearance on Bruce Kulick's (of KISS) album with all-star rocker Gene Simmons. His videos have appeared on MTV, BET, and VH1, while his music has made it to the second round of Grammy voting in three categories. Even the renowned car company Bentley reached out to have Substantial's supergroup FANOMM (with Chew Fu & J-Cast) create a song for them and perform in China at their car show. Vogue Magazine included his duo's music (Bop Alloy) in a recent playlist. Not bad for the Prince George's County rapper and community activist: He builds recording studios for at-risk youth in conjunction with Covenant House, and raises money for school music programs in VH1's Save The Music Series. For his newest album Home Is Where The Art Is (Mello Music Group), Substantial called upon Oddisee, an acclaimed musician who directed, mixed and contributed a large portion of the production. That's just the start of things to come. No wonder they call him Substantial. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
