What the Hell Is Going On
WTH Are Young Gen Z Voters Turning Conservative? The Yale Youth Poll's Milan Singh Explains

What the Hell Is Going On

Gen Z may not be the liberal base of support many on the left hoped they would be. Today, there is a growing split between voters under 30, with 22-29 year olds favoring Democrats by 6.4 points and 18-21 year olds favoring Republicans by almost 12 points. As America's youngest voters are growing up in the age of COVID lockdowns, social media, and cancel culture, conservative and MAGA ideology is emerging as the new counter-culture, giving young men in particular an opportunity to escape the world around them. How will the youngest voter cohort change the bases of both parties? And how will young voters change as they grow older? Milan Singh is the founder and Director of the Yale Youth Poll. Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, he is a junior in Pierson majoring in Economics. He has previously worked as a researcher at Slow Boring; a data science fellow at Decision Desk HQ; and social policy intern at the Niskanen Center. This past summer, he worked as a consultant for Blueprint and WelcomePAC. Outside of the classroom, he is one of the Opinion Editors for the Yale Daily News.Read the transcript here. Republicans win U.S. House, Brazilian homeschoolers growing despite opposition, Eric Metaxas v. John Piper about Trump

It's Tuesday, November 12th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Brazilian homeschoolers growing despite opposition The Brazilian homeschooling movement is growing despite opposition from the leftist government of that country. Over the weekend, 3,000 homeschoolers gathered outside of Sao Paulo for a major conference and rallying point.  Generations Radio and The Worldview supported the conference with speaking and resources. Reports of government prosecution of homeschooling families are on the rise, with at least twenty cases presently on record.  Pray for Christian families under this spiritual and political push back. Psalm 78:5-6 encourages parents that God has “established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children.” German government collapsed last week Only hours after Trump's announced election last week, the national government of Germany collapsed. The multi-party based government was tenuous to begin with, but when Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the government lost its majority in parliament. The government has also lost support from the populace. According to a recent survey, only 3% of the people called the present government “good for Germany.” Germany's economy shrinks as families have fewer babies Germany is the fourth largest economy in the world after the United States, the European Union, and China. Interestingly, Germany was the only economy of the Group of 7 nations to shrink last year.  Thus far this year, the country is barely holding onto a 0.1% annual Gross Domestic Product increase based on data from the first three quarters.   In addition, industrial production has been steadily decreasing since 2018. Germany's working age population will decrease more than every other G7 nation over the next five years due to low birth rates.  Catholic Latino support for Trump doubled between ‘20 and ‘24 The Republicans gained more ground cultivating support from the Latino Catholic vote than any other major demographic in the 2024 presidential election. Trump support among Catholic Latinos increased from 28% in 2020 to 53% in 2024 — almost double! Support from the Catholic demographic in general for the Donald Trump presidential bid actually increased from 47% to 58% between 2020 and 2024.  Republicans win U.S. House According to Decision Desk HQ, the Republicans won control of the U.S. House with 219 seats over the Democrats with 210 seats.  218 seats are necessary for a majority. Eric Metaxas: Pastors don't understand the times Pastor John Piper sparked a little controversy among Christian websites when he commented on the presidential election, noting that “[God] having delivered us from one evil, [He] now tests us with another.” The pastor referenced Deuteronomy 13:3, not to listen “to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Citing 1 Chronicles 12:32, Christian commentator Eric Metaxas responded by saying, “Shame on these pastors for not being Sons of Issachar, but rather modern day Pharisees and Sadducees, not knowing Truth from a lie. Lord, deliver us from them.” Evangelical theologians discuss presidential election, pro-life movement Other leading evangelical theologians have commented on the election as well.  Carl Trueman wrote that he “would be horrified if my children behaved as either of our two serious presidential candidates routinely do.  The choice is a grim, but unavoidable one. ... Vote against the candidate who will do the most damage by policy.” And Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, opined that “the pro-life movement in the United States is in big, big trouble” based on recent losses at the ballot box. But he also said, “I'm thankful for the clarity that the American people achieved for the Republic. I think the choice, in this case, (for President) was also healthy for the Republic.” Trump appointed Rep. Elise Stefanik as Ambassador to United Nations President-elect Trump has appointed GOP Congresswoman Elise Stefanik of New York as the next Ambassador to the United Nations, reports ABC News. Stefanik has a 48% conservative voting record on Liberty Score. That compares to Rand Paul's 93% on the same rating.   Stefanik voted to codify same-sex mirage into federal law back in 2022, and was in favor of the female draft in 2021.  Federal Reserve cut reserve rate again The U.S. Federal Reserve Board voted to cut the reserve rate by another 25 basis points late last week. That follows a 50 basis point cut in September.   The rate was just about 0% in January of 2022, at which point the Fed began increasing the rate all the way up to 5.33%. Trump election impacting market And finally, cryptocurrency prices shot up after the Trump election last week. Bitcoin is scraping $88,000. Gold dropped slightly from the $2,740 per ounce to the $2,670-per-ounce range. And the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq stock indexes bumped up about 5% since the election. -Welcome back to CNBC-TV18's Marketbuzz Podcast. This is your host Kanishka Sarkar bringing you top developments ahead of today's trading session -Early exit polls in the extremely close U.S. presidential election appear to give an edge to Republican Donald Trump. Trump won eight states in the election while Kamala Harris captured three states and Washington, D.C., Edison Research projected. The early results were as anticipated, with the contest expected to come down to seven swing states. -Early results from Georgia, which narrowly voted for Democrats four years ago, could offer initial insight into how the two candidates are performing. Pennsylvania and parts of Michigan, both crucial battlegrounds, close at 8 p.m. local time. -Equities in Japan and Australia climbed. Chinese equities were mixed, with the CSI 300 Index of onshore shares edging higher in early trading while a gauge of the nation's Hong Kong-listed stocks down about 1%. -While results were still being collected and polls remained open in many key states, the ex-president's odds of election were climbing on betting markets and on national forecasting sites such as Decision Desk HQ. The Mexican peso and the Japanese yen dropped about 1%. -Back home, for a better part of Tuesday's trading session, Monday's lows were in danger of being taken out as the Nifty made a low of 23,842 on Tuesday. Then came the rebound. The Nifty Bank was the one that triggered the upmove with a sharp recovery from the lows. The financial services expiry, coupled with oversold setups on the charts led to a major short-covering move on the indices. By the end of Tuesday's session, the Nifty was back above 24,200 and the Nifty Bank, after a 1,000-point move, was back above 52,200, having traded briefly below the mark of 51,000 in intraday trading. -All eyes are now on the United States, where the outcome of the Presidential Elections, which is among the most closely contested ones in recent times, will be known in just a few hours from know. Polls continue to show both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in a neck-to-neck fight. Sometime later today, there should ideally be a clearer picture as to who has emerged as the winner to be the next President of the US. -Wednesday's trading session will not only be the weekly expiry of the Nifty Bank, that led the reversal during Tuesday's trading session, it will also see earnings reactions from both Dr. Reddy's and Titan, the two Nifty constituents that reported results after market hours on Tuesday. Earnings reactions will also come from stocks like GAIL, Oil India, Mankind Pharma, Manappuram Finance, Waaree Renewables, JK Tyre, Berger Paints, Balmer Lawrie, among others. -While there are Nifty results like Tata Steel, Power Grid on Wednesday, broader market names like Delta Corp, Endurance Technologies, Power Grid, RITES, Rain Industries,  Sonata Software, JSPL, Shipping Corporation, among others will also be reporting results. -In terms of commodities, oil was steady after a five-day run of gains as the market monitored a tight US presidential election and Hurricane Rafael menaced production in the Gulf of Mexico. West Texas Intermediate traded near $72 a barrel after rising 0.7% on Tuesday, with Brent crude closing below $76. Rafael is threatening about 1.7 million barrels a day of output in the US gulf, and Chevron Corp. has shut some oil and gas facilities in the area. Gold was also steady as investors monitored a tight US election that could prove massively consequential for financial markets. -GIFTNifty was off highs this morning trading at a discount of nearly 60 pts from Nifty Futures Tuesday close tracking US polls outcome, indicating a start in the red for the Indian market. SERIES 3 EPISODE 3: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: The selection of Kamala Harris's Vice President is a big story and I'm really interested and it could be Joe Biden and I'd go "Whatever You Want, Queen." The lead story today is ANOTHER poll explosion She's ahead in the Morning Consult poll 48-44. A week ago she was ahead by ONE point. Two weeks ago TRUMP was ahead by TWO points. That's a seven point swing since President Biden bowed out. They polled on six key attributes in seven swing states: she wins not too old in a landslide. She wins "mentally fit" in a landslide. She wins "less dangerous" in a landslide. She wins "cares about me" by as much as ten. She's tied with him on "more presidential." She's up. by three in SurveyUSA. CBS (which never had Biden ahead) has her up by one. Decision Desk HQ shows her improved in nine of its ten battleground states (the only one she didn't improve on? Virginia, where she and Biden were each up by three). For the first time even Nate Silver's projection says she has the better chance of winning the electoral college – 53% – and winning it by 282 votes to 255 for Trump – and has her up in the polls by one and nine tenths points, largely because HIS average of the polls in Pennsylvania has her up by a point and in Michigan by just under three. Nate Silver has Kamala Harris within six points of leading in… Florida. ALSO THERE'S THE VP THING. Reuters reported Tim Walz and Josh Shapiro are the finalists. It might be Mark Kelly in the mix, too. Sure great fine get Walz new younger glasses. End advice. AND NOW WE KNOW WHY RFK MADE THE BEAR VIDEO: Yes, sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you and sometimes when you try to get ahead of The New Yorker story about you dumping in Central Park the dead carcass of a bear cub you say another motorist killed, it turns out there were stories the bear had stab wounds, and oh yeah the magazine has a PHOTO of you mocking the dead bear and in it your fly is unzipped. SEASON 2 EPISODE 27: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) SPECIAL COMMENT: Uh-oh. Somebody told Trump about the 14th Amendment and he's terrified And we know who terrified him. The Wall Street Journal published a 900-word editorial exactly 77 minutes before Trump's post and it is aptly titled “The 14th Amendment Trump Panic” because while the Journal usually has the confidence and arrogance and factuality of Marie Antoinette apocryphally talking about dessert, this time the lead fascists Chez Murdoch sound really scared. They have resorted to the argument that even if the 14thAmendment doesn't JUST apply to people who literally fired a gun at the flag or those who instructed them to, it can't apply to January 6th because January 6th wasn't a REAL insurrection because… uh… it didn't SUCCEED. 14-3 advocates are quote “willing to put democracy at risk in order to save it. But U-S institutions held up reasonably well despite the strains of the Trump Presidency, even the events of January 6. The transfer of power took place on schedule…the rioters and organizers are being punished, often severely…” In other words: whaddya mean ATTEMPTED murder? What kind of crime is THAT? Either there's murder, and you go to jail, or there isn't murder, and you go free. Am I right? Trump bleated about socialists and democrats and election interference and who will get to tell him? The Disqualification clause was in essence created to keep the Vice President of the confederacy out of the Senate. After he won. As a DEMOCRAT. In 1866. And Alexander Stephens had been convicted of NOTHING. He was arrested for treason on May 11th, 1865, released from prison in October without even going to trial. In 1919, 14/3 was used to keep a Congressman-Elect, Victor Berger of Wisconsin – literally an actual member of the Socialist party – out of the House because he had been convicted of violating the Espionage Act during the 1st World War because he opposed U-S entry into it. And just last year local New Mexico official Cuoy Griffin was bounced by 14/3 after nothing more than a misdemeanor conviction for trespassing. The point of course is that Stephens was kept out even though he was never convicted of anything, never even TRIED for anything, and he was readmitted only after a Congressionally-approved amnesty. Trump doesn't understand these nuances but like the wild animal he is he can smell fear, and there's nothing but fear in the WSJ editorial. Press the point. Plus we knew Mark Meadows had confessed to the Georgia judge last week while trying to get his trial moved to Federal Court. We had no idea how MUCH he had confessed, and how screwed he is, and how his only option may be to cut a deal with Fani Willis. B-Block (20:27) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: All is finally well at CNN where the new guy starts in one month and four days and controversy is a thing of the past and what do you mean at the BBC he once leaned over to a news editor and BIT HIM ON THE ARM HARD ENOUGH TO LEAVE MARKS THROUGH HIS SHIRT? (26:26) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Matt Schlapp conducts an exorcism...in his PANTS! The Philadelphia cemetery that has a memorial to...Nazi collaborators? And segueing perfectly: After pimping for the hashtag "Ban The ADL," Elon Musk insists he's opposed to all forms of anti-semitism and then explains that the main Jewish organization fighting anti-semitism, The Anti-Defamation League, has conspired to destroy advertising on twitter and he's suing them and if Musk ain't an antisemite it's an incredible simulation. C-Block (33:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The school year has begun at every level and inevitably I flash back to the day my legendary Cornell American history professor nearly failed all of us in his class because his favorite football team lost.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Democratic nominee Joe Biden was projected to win the 2020 presidential election as of early Friday, as voters rejected President Donald Trump's chaotic and deeply polarizing first term. Biden's vice presidential running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, made history by becoming the nation's first female, Black, and Indian American vice president. Biden surpassed the 270 electoral votes required to win the White House by flipping the battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, according to projections by Decision Desk HQ. The call was made at 8:49 a.m. ET on Friday, November 6. MSNBC, CNN, and BBC called the election for Biden shortly after 11 a.m. ET on Saturday.

And Donald Trump is having a Twitter tantrum. I'll run down the latest news as it stands when we hit the air at 5ET. We'll chat with Will Bunch, columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, as it all came down to Philly! Our other very timely guest today is Ion Sancho who served as the Leon County, FL Supervisor of Elections for 28 years, and was the Technical Advisor for the 2000 Florida Recount.
