Possessing a voice as cool and crystalline as an Alpine stream, Natalie Cressman draws inspiration from a vast array of musical currents. A prodigiously talented trombonist, she's spent the last 14 years touring as a horn player and vocalist with Phish's Trey Anastasio, while also performing around NYC with jazz greats Wycliffe Gordon, Nicholas Payton, Anat Cohen, Dave Douglas, and Peter Apfelbaum. Deeply versed in Latin jazz, post-bop, pop, and Brazilian music, Cressman has released three albums under her own name as well as three acclaimed duo albums with Brazilian-born guitarist Ian Faquini, her primary musical partner for the past decade. Together they've honed a singularly expansive creative communion encompassing their love of the Brazilian songbook, jazz, Impressionism and sophisticated pop songcraft. Focusing on their original songs, the duo's recordings include 2019's Setting Rays of Summer, 2022's Auburn Whisper, and the soon-to-be-released GUINGA, a tribute to the revered Brazilian composer and guitarist. Cressman's trombone prowess has earned her widespread recognition. In both 2019 and 2023 Downbeat awarded her “Rising Star Trombone” honors in the magazine's annual critics' poll.Drawing on her love of groove, cool R&B and jazz, Cressman released the solo albums, Unfolding (2012) and Turn the Sea (2014), followed by Etchings in Amber (2016), a gorgeous duo album with guitarist Mike Bono that introduced Cressman as a formidable musical force without her horn. She released The Traces EP in 2017, which expanded her creative reach into post-production with meticulously crafted soundscaped tracks inspired by R&B and indie pop.To see if Natalie Cressman &Ian Faquini are playing near you click on the link!https://www.nataliecressman.com/shows

Gravity - The Digital Agency Power Up : Weekly shows for digital marketing agency owners.
This week we delve into the journey and experiences of David Drebin. From discovering a passion for photography in the 90s to pursuing opportunities and challenges in New York City, David realized that the journey itself is more important than any destination. We explore David's struggles with the business side of art and the challenges that creatives face in being their own biggest critics. David opens up about impostor syndrome, comparison, and the fear of vulnerability that many people experience. He shares his approach to balancing authenticity and creating personas in the social media world and how he navigates the fine line between creating art he loves and art that sells well. We learn about David's alter ego, his belief in self-advocacy, and his journey of betting on himself. The episode also touches on overcoming insecurity in showing one's work and the importance of letting things flow naturally in the creative process. Hosted by Bob Gentle, this episode promises an insightful conversation with a talented artist who has successfully built and marketed his personal brand.About DavidDavid Drebin is a multidisciplinary artist, working in various art forms, producing limited edition works including Photographs, Lightboxes, Neon light Installations, Sculptures, and Etchings on Glass. In 2005, Drebin had his first solo exhibition at Camera Work in Berlin. This was followed by his first illustrated book entitled “Love and Other Stories”.Reflections on David's artwork:“Drebin's photographs are epic, dramatic, and, above all, cinematic and have been collected around the world. In a unique and opulent way, Drebin stages femme fatales against the gigantic backdrops of cities such as Hong Kong, New York, and Paris. The panorama of the big cities, which, due to their format, are a tribute to cinema, serve as cinematic settings. With their impressive skyscrapers, they provide the viewer with a nearly infinite surface for the imagination. The distinctive tension and depth in his pictures arise from the free combination of such differing topics as humor and sex, melancholy and sex, and melancholy and humour. At Art Miami in 2010, his now sold out “Central Park” sold for a record price of $78,000 through Contessa Gallery who has featured Drebin in major Art Fairs since 2008 alongside art world legends Andy Warhol, Chuck Close and Helmut Newton.Exclusively publishing books with ( www.teNeues.com ), his books are distributed around the world and often followed with exhibitions in Paris, New York, Miami, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Brussels and many other cities Internationally. There is much wisdom in the rhythm of the water. In this episode, we talk about the cycles of water, including the fascination of ice crystals decorating windows like etchings of intricate art. Then there's Dr. Masaru Emoto's work published in, The Hidden Messages in Water (2004), where he explains how loving words of gratitude turned into exquisite crystals. While threatening phrases caused the crystals to become misshapen as if confused. We wrap up in appreciation for the sustenance of water. In https://change-the-story-chan.captivate.fm/episode/episode-40-pangea-world-theater-chapter-1 (Episode 40) Dipankar Mukherjee, and Meena Natarajan discussed their work around issues of race and justice. In this second half, we asked: How can Pangea, a small community-based cultural institution punching way above its weight, maintain the power and integrity of its community building work amidst the chaos and uncertainty of contemporary life in America? Pangea World Theater spent its 25th anniversary year helping their Minneapolis community heal the wounds and sort through the ashes left in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. But this mending and reckoning dance was nothing new because Pangea's work is intrinsic to the story of this place-- It's struggles.-- It's beauty-- It's resilience. Welcome the newest member to the book club - Visionary Fiction Author, Rob Springer. Rob's debut novel Organ Pipes of The Soul is 19 years in making. We talk about his publishing journey and why he enjoys writing. If you are looking for your next great read, Organ Pipes of The Soul may be just the gem you are looking for. To learn more about Visionary Fiction: https://visionaryfictionalliance.com/ You can learn more about Rob and purchase his book at https://organpipesofthesoul.com/ More about Rob Springer: I have been writing on and off since high school, eventually getting my BA in English with a creative writing emphasis. But life had other plans and instead of going into teaching, I found work in publishing. Along the way, the Twin Towers fell, my job was shipped to India, and due to that outsourcing, I had a chance to return to school at 62 years old, thus making me a late-life Master of Arts recipient. I wrote a whole new novel for my MA thesis, did more writing than I ever had, and started to teach Freshman English. I find myself at 67 a happily married spouse, a parent, a grandfather of two, and much to my surprise, a Deacon in my church. I have a modest media presence and a modest publication history in four of the volumes of my school's student/faculty publication, University of Indianapolis' Etchings. Meanwhile, this novel kept reminding me not to forget it, and the current pandemic has increased my motivation to get this story out. In my last editing pass, I finally knew I was ready. I hope you are pleased with this story. I hope you find it intriguing. It is meant to be thought-provoking but entertaining. I think you will find it both. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bright-headed-publishing/message

He also had master classes with Brian Ferneyhough, Raphaël Cendo, Alberto Posadas, Antoine Beuger, Dmitri Kourliandski, Georges Aperghis, Mark Andre, Beat Furrer, Franck Bedrossian, Rebecca Saunders and Ming Tsao. He has been selected for ‘Voix nouvelles’ program at Fondation Royaumont, “Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky city”, Etchings festival, Schloss Solitude SummerAcademy, Tzlil meudcan festival and Sirga Festival. His music has been played by ensembles like Court-Circuit, Xasax, les Cris de Paris, 2E2M, L'imaginaire,Nikel, le Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ecce ensemble, Les solistes du Balcon, ensemble interface, ensemble Surplus, and Duo XAMP (microtonal accordions), in France, Israel, Switzerland, Belgium,Germany, Russia, Austria, Brazil, USA, Turkey and Spain. Watching a friend's slow fade of their mental faculties is not for the faint of heart.
The joys and pitfalls of this thing called retirement.
A collection of souls in a drawer - and mine was next.
I had to try and make sense of the strange online attraction.
Possibly better than meditation - the sport of Tennis.
What if Elizabeth is out there somewhere in the garden? And I did have a shiver of fear.
An antique store and the love of my life.
A run through the woods, which ends up on the roof of a car.
A blonde Adonis at the beach, known only as "The Used Car Salesman."
Feels like it all happened just the other day.
Tatoos, red tie, shirt, and I am in Rockabilly heaven.
One day that stands out had a very magical, almost mystical quality.
One very bright, clear night, he decided to venture forth.
Dea nurtured her dramas as intensely as a mother her child.
Come to my house. Bring your son. We'll have tea!
I was free at last to enjoy that summer of love, sun, hot men, and lots of great live music.
This week, painters Justin Vining and Benny Sanders egg each other on, Big Foot Yancey pays a visit, the Phoenix Theatre's new dark comedy, the Museum of Miniature Houses presents free creativity sessions, and a chance to see a collection of copper etchings by Salvador Dali.
I had taken him on a very special outing.
A quiet meditative weekend, that was not to be.
THIS IS NOT A TEST - books, music, movies, art, culture and truth
On tap today: collecting things, completism, Catcher in the Rye, TV Guide magazine, bottle caps, cat-eye sunglasses, Circus, CREEM and Rock Scene magazines, box rattlers, sealing things in hard plastic, View-Master, King Tut, silver dollars, binding sniffers, Mantle rookie cards, Electro Harmonix pedals, The Wormwood Review, The Wailers, Elvis tie racks, being no-nonsense and domesticating wolves.
