Following recent sombre developments that our beloved Stanley Street Block Parties are no longer—cheers for that, local council!—we thought it appropriate to pay homage to the fantastic times enjoyed by all, by making available our recorded mix from last month. (We failed to realise it at the time, but it may be the very last Block Party gracing the sacred bitumen known at Stanley Street... at least, for the foreseeable future.) The Fazz @andrewfazzolari and I were handed a prime slot for the balmy October afternoon to do our Attic @atticsydney thing. Within the hour-long offering, you can expect our usual blend of fun, fruity, typically disco-skewed house music, with a few fruits from yesteryear thrown in. This is the result—hope you dig! @pole-jam-vinyl @d-phunq @nervous-records @retromigration @ravanellidiscoclub @kai-alce @user-576421441 @1codycurrie @toytonics @daveleezr @suddenmovesmusic @slothboogie @harold-heath @s-a-s-h-sundays
Con ospite Fabrizio "Fazz" Gilardi (@Fazzettino), andiamo a dare 3 previsioni azzardate (per essere eufemistici) a testa, come sempre cercando di litigare l'uno con l'altro.
Reed Smith's Hagen Rooke (Singapore) and Soham Panchamiya (Dubai) are joined by Samson Leo, co-founder and Chief Legal Officer of Fazz, to discuss stablecoin regulation in various jurisdictions, including Singapore and the UAE. How will these regulations affect stablecoin issuers and projects? What do they signal about the state of play for stablecoins in the future? Also, there is general debate around the regulatory framework affecting crypto in this increasingly maturing landscape.

The Fazzes are down bad. Let's talk week 4.
Here's a reboot of a fan favorite: Noel Paul Stookey, the Paul of Peter, Paul & Mary. He not only rode the folk wave of the early 1960s with such indelible songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon," "If I Had a Hammer" and helping popularize a young Minnesotan bard who went by the stage name of Bob Dylan, but helped created it. He shares the iconic trio's origin story as well as his own, and the many memories of a life, well lived, in music. Peter, Paul & Mary's long, legendary career was cut short with Mary Travers' tragic death in 2009, but their place in the cultural zeitgeist is eternal. Noel, a part-time Ojai resident, joins us to talk about his new album, "Fazz: Now & Then" and to reflect on the experience of collaborating with fellow musicians during the pandemic to create this nuanced, wide-ranging collection of 20 original songs with talented musicians such as Kent Palmer, Paul Winter, Paul Sullivan, David LaPlante and Edward Mottau. Fazz, as Noel explains, was christened by Paul Desmond of the Dave Brubeck Quartet to explain Peter, Paul & Mary's distinct fusion of jazz and folk. Noel picks up the resident Ojai podcast guitar (be still, my heart) to explain the shadings of alternate chord structures that inform much of the color of the album, as illustrated by the A Major, and the A Major 7th, its "smoky, mysterious cousin." Noel talks about writing "The Wedding Song: There is Love" - for Peter Yarrow's wedding, and his reluctance to perform it again until urged by Peter, and how it has made many, if not most, of the lists of most beautiful songs of all time, right up there with fellow Ojai resident Amanda McBroom's "The Rose." He also discusses his Christian faith and the epiphany he had at age 30 after a decade of fame, and the toll it took on his well-being. There's relevant folk music news: Noel's good friend John McCutcheon just released “Ukraine Now.” We did not talk about Ron DeSantis' fading aspirations, the Buffalo Bills abysmal overtime record or the enduring mystery of who ordered the hit on Tupac Shakur.

Analogue Discogue is an esteemed hi-fi, vinyl-only event hosted by house and disco aficionado, Norm De Plume. We were invited to join the line-up for its July event: a sun-kissed Sunday afternoon affair hosted at the exquisite, Japanese-inspired Rekōdo Restaurant & Vinyl Bar at Sydney's Barangaroo. Rekōdo's crystal-clear Klipsch sound system sounded expectedly immaculate right throughout the afternoon's proceedings: the clarity and warmth of the system provided an ambient yet immersive experience for diners and listeners, alike. It was an absolute pleasure. The Fazz @andrewfazzolari and I came prepared, armed and loaded with a couple of boxes of carefully-selected favourites—a concoction of newer burners and some favourites from yesteryear—and did our very best to fly the Attic flag proudly. The big dog, Andrew Fazzolari @andrewfazzolari, blew out an undisclosed number of candles in March and decided to celebrate the occasion with a good ol' fashioned Saturday shindig at Stanley's. The Fazz curated a hand-picked line-up of selectors for the special occasion and generously gifted me the first two hours of the balmy Autumn evening! I entered the venue at the tail-end of, shall we say, a "colourful" daytime takeover that was many hours—and countless beverages—deep, and was greeted by an intriguing soundtrack of popular radio-played bangers from the start of the century; 'Ms. Jackson' and 'Teenage Dirtbag', notably. At its conclusion, we were afforded a few sought-after moments of serenity while the Technics were rolled out and added to the booth. I was afforded the opportunity to allow the dust—and, indeed, serotonin!—to settle, and re-set things with some lower, slower groovers, just as intended. I prepared a bespoke "crate" of selections filled with some of the birthday boy's personal favourites and guilty pleasures, along with others I thought he might enjoy. I believe I hit the brief and was pretty pleased with the result. Most importantly, The Fazz seemed to enjoy himself right through 'till the call for last drinks. In any case, I hope you enjoy it, too. --- : Tracklisting: 01 : Dave Allison - 'The Way Is Heart' (Original Mix) [Kinjo Music] 02 : Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee - 'Sweet Love' (Original Mix) [Editorial Records] 03 : Ben Sun - 'The Answer' (Original Mix) [Razor-N-Tape Records] 04 : Late Nite Tuff Guy - 'My Sugar Is Gone' (LNTG Edit) [Razor-N-Tape Records] 05 : Coutel - 'This Is Love' (Original Mix) [Masterworks Music] 06 : Letherette - 'Fresh & Clean' (Original Mix) [Wulf] 07 : Tony T. - 'The Feeling' (Original Mix) [Editorial Records] 08 : Admin - 'Halo' (Original Mix) [CDR] 09 : Crazy P. - 'Last Knockers' (Original Mix) [Paper Recordings] 10 : Magic Source - 'Genius Of Love' (Original Mix) [Favorite Recordings] 11 : Clive From Accounts - 'It's Not That I Don't Care' (Original Mix) [Razor-N-Tape Records] 12 : 78 Edits - 'Come On Baby' (Original Mix) [Editorial Records] 13 : DJ Snatch - 'All Night Long' (Original Mix) [CDR] 14 : Simply Red - 'Sunrise' (Original Mix) [Universal] 15 : Scruscru - 'Love Fusion' (Original Mix) [Ltd, W/Lbl] 16 : Ash Reynolds - 'Falling Back' (Original Mix) [Slightly Transformed] 17 : Ethyène ft. In this episode, join us in the sixth and final installment of our fifth-year anniversary summit recaps where we feature fireside chats with thought leaders and founders across industries sharing their insights on various sectors and trends shaping the future of ASEANnovation. While global macroeconomic situations have dampened venture funding, the growth-stage companies we have represented on today's panel have managed to close major funding rounds. In this conversation, we learned how they have weathered the storm so far, what underlying opportunities they are looking to tap into, and advice they have for fellow entrepreneurs navigating today's fundraising environment, given that, at the end of the day, they are all building to last. Hear from Aaron Tan, CEO and Co-Founder of Southeast Asia's leading auto retail platform Carro, Anderson Sumarli, CEO and Co-Founder of Indonesian retail investment super app Ajaib, and Hendra Kwik, CEO and Co-Founder of regional digital financial services ecosystem for businesses Fazz. The Fazz and I returned to one of our favourite haunts—and a hidden local pleasure!—Stanley's on Stanley for an all-afternoon/all-night pre-Christmas affair. The entire venue was booked for an EOY shindig by the fine folk at Desk Space—a nearby co-working hub—who, I don't mind mentioning, had personally requested our services, having heard one of our @atticsydney mixes playing during a venue inspection. (Humble brag, sure, but hey, gotta take them where you can!) The seven-hour sesh flew by in the blink of an eye, and we had a blast playing for the wonderfully receptive crowd who stuck with us right 'till close. Here is the opening hour, beginning at five o'clock. It's an understandably laidback affair, setting the scene for all that was to come! (And it definitely did.) Hope you enjoy some forgotten favourites of yesteryear, washed down with the usual abundance of lower, slower, groove-laden jams! --- : Tracklisting: 01 : HNNY - 'Hej' (Original Mix) [HNNY] 02 : Queen - 'Cool Cat' (Original Mix) [EMI] 03 : Sticky Fingers - 'How To Fly' (Original Mix) [Sureshaker Music] 04 : Jenevieve - 'Baby Powder' (Original Mix) [CDR] 05 : Thundercat - 'Them Changes' (Original Mix) [Brainfeeder] 06 : Planty Herbs - 'Thank You' (Original Mix) [Intimate Friends] 07 : Lightfoot - 'Digital Wallpaper' (Original Mix) [Dust Collectors] 08 : InI & Pete Rock - 'Think Twice' (Original Mix) [VinDig] 09 : Letherette - 'After 8' (Original Mix) [Wulf] 10 : Saine - 'Casual' (Original Mix) [Fools & Fables Recordings] 11 : Dave Allison - 'Cocktail Blue' (Original) [Kinjo Music] 12 : Ben Sun - 'The Answer' (Original Mix) [Razor-N-Tape Records] 13 : Those Guys From Athens - 'Burnin' Up' (Original Mix) [Too Slow To Disco] 14 : Fantasy Love Affair - 'How Can I Forget' (Original Mix) [Chopshop] 15 : Linda Clifford - 'Never Gonna Stop' (DJ "S" Remix) [Too Slow To Disco] 16 : Poolside ft. Il Canada trionfa in Coppa Davis dopo aver battuto l'Italia in semifinale tra mille rimpianti. Pagelle di fine stagione per gli azzurri con Fazz.
Melbourne hard rock outfit High As Hell have certainly done it hard as hell in their brief existence. After releasing their debut album Razorblade Dream during the bleak COVID years and not being able to fully tour or promote their music, High As Hell have wasted little time in rectifying that situation with a string of high energy gigs up and down the East Coast of Australia.Along the way the band have gathered a continually growing legion of fans who gravitate towards their stoner meets metal edged sound and now plan to give their debut release the respect it deserves by releasing it again, but this time on vinyl. To celebrate, High As Hell plan to commandeer The Old Bar in Melbourne on November 25 and are bringing with them their good mates from Duneeater, The Balls and Flying Dutchman to wreak havok. To tell us more HEAVY tracked down vocalist/guitarist Fazz Hellman to find out more information."In my eyes this one's gonna be one for the ages," he enthused. "It's a fully stacked line-up - and I know people say this shit all the time - but the bands are all of my favourite local bands. It's gonna be a very cool night."As mentioned the initial release of Razorblade Dream co-incided with lockdowns and the uncertainty of COVID, so having the chance to re-release the album on vinyl is of special significance to High As Hell."It's gotta be done," Fazz laughed. "People still love having that hard copy of music. There's still a lot of old school crew out there, and even the younger crew as well. It's just good to have artwork and something in your hands. We will have the full merch stand including vinyl going on the night. That's become a huge thing for us since having Youngy on board. He's mad about his merch and he does it well, so that's definitely one thing that we've learnt from him."In the full interview Fazz talks more about the launch party on November 25, the decision to release the album during COVID, the difficulties caused by that, the initial reception to Razorblade Dream, what High As Hell base their sound on, new music and the direction it is going, writing music during COVID without the luxury of being able to road test the songs live, the diversity in their music that enables them to play live with bands from King Parrot to Odius to Massic, their upcoming trip to Tasmania with King Parrot and more.

Noel Paul Stookey, the Paul of Peter, Paul & Mary, not only rode the folk wave of the early 1960s with such indelible songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon," "If I Had a Hammer" and helping popularize a young Minnesotan bard who went by the stage name of Bob Dylan, but helped created it. He shares the iconic trio's origin story as well as his own, and the many memories of a life, well lived, in music. Peter, Paul & Mary's long, legendary career was cut short with Mary Travers' tragic death in 2009, but their place in the cultural zeitgeist is eternal. Noel, a part-time Ojai resident, joins us to talk about his new album, "Fazz: Now & Then" and to reflect on the experience of collaborating with fellow musicians during the pandemic to create this nuanced, wide-ranging collection of 20 original songs with talented musicians such as Kent Palmer, Paul Sullivan, David LaPlante and Edward Mottau. We did not talk about whirling dervishes, James Beard or "The Slap Heard 'Round the World."

The term old school is thrown around in the modern age like a badge of honour. Not that it isn’t, but you get the feeling half of the people who profess to be from that school of hard knocks are more referring to the movie of the same name rather than an ironclad way of life. Not so Victorian outfit High As Hell who prefer to let their music dictate their pedigree over a few throwaway lines with little substance. With fat, crunching riffs, powerful vocals and an aggressive approach to music that would sit Satan himself on his ass, High As Hell today launch their debut slab of metal, Razorblade Dream, a crushing album that says more through music than what most do with actions.Guitarist/vocalist Fazz Hellman sat down with HEAVY on the eve of the release to run us through the album and their take on heavy metal.“It’s just a bunch of riffs put together,” Hellman shrugged modestly. “We're all a little bit older now man and we've kind of... we've explored and experimented and done our own thing. We came together four years ago and realised what we loved which was loud, riffy, heavy fucken music. It's a mash-up of everything that we love. We didn't really sit down and set out to sound like anything in particular - it just came naturally. It's a good blend of all the old school shit that we love and some of the new shit that we love as well.”Those in the know refer to High As Hell as an old school metal band with a new school attitude. While Hellman doesn’t profess to know exactly what that means, he also refuses to shy away from the compliment.“I guess if you take this whole covid shit as an example, the only tool that we have right now to push this album is purely online and obviously radio and that stuff. We're very grateful for that and grateful that we get to do that but we would much prefer to do it the old school way and slog it out and play the shows and feed off that energy with the crowd and meet people after the show and stuff like that. It’s more personal. We love the old school and I guess we have a bit of the old school work ethic where we just don’t stop, but you need to adapt to your surroundings and the situation and the times and keep moving forward."In the full interview Fazz goes deeper into Razorblade Dream, their attitude to music, selecting singles, living in the current world climate as a fresh band, how they have looked to come out of this period stronger, the pain of not being able to play live and more.

Baxter and Fazz are back with: Political Correct Insanity! Some things we got WRONG in the 20th Century. And, let's play 20th Century TV Trivia!
The Fazz @andrewfazzolari and I were kindly asked to open proceedings at S*A*S*H By Day on Sunday afternoon just passed. Despite it appearing to be a smoky—and later, a rainy—affair in its early stages; the show must go on... and it certainly did. We kicked off on the lower, slower, deeper tip, throwing on a selection of sub-110 BPM burners, setting the stage—and warming the floor—for Sondrio, Mo'funk and later... Black Loops! Within this couple-of-hour-long offering, you'll hear a range of selections from the likes of Tilman, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Frits Wentink, Harold Heath, Jehan and Admin, to name just a few. Many thanks, as always to Cris, Kerry and the S*A*S*H collective for keeping us in mind—as always, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We hope it warms your day/evening as it did on Sunday. Hope you enjoy as much! x --- : Tracklisting: On request—or when we hit a certain number of plays. Let's aim for, say, 500? ;)
Baxter and Fazz look at the phones we grew up with in the 20th Century. Also a critique of Holiday merchandising tactics in stores. And...what's in your fortune cookie??
The dust has settled on the last few busy weeks, and I'm finally making my recent solo S*A*S*H mix available—a deeper, warm-up effort in The Den, right before The Fazz and I took things big for the last couple of hours. (You can grab that one here: https://soundcloud.com/andrewfazzolari/andrew-fazzolari-brendan-clay-live-at-sash-10th-november-2019) In delivering this one; I tried to focus on building and maintaining a groove; keeping the room "warm" during the earlier hours, readying it for what was to come. Within, you'll hear originals from the likes of Frits Wentink, Ari Bald, Luvless, Mangabey, on a selection of labels currently tickling my ears, SlothBoogie, Pulse Msc and Kyoku Records, to name a few. If this gets considerable love—shall we say, 500 plays?—or a palpable demand of requests; I'll throw up the tracklisting. 'till then, though, sit back and enjoy warming up! Hope you like! --- : Tracklisting—now available: 01 : Around7 - 'Crazy Yvette' (Original Mix) [Robsoul Recordings] 02 : Frits Wentink - 'Theme 6' (Original Mix) [Wolf Music Recordings] 03 : Liam Geddes - 'For Everything' (Original Mix) [STRCTR Records] 04 : Mangabey - 'Pesci's Delight' (Original Mix) [Pulse Msc] 05 : Jedsa Soundorom - 'We Play House' (Original Mix) [Akbal Music] 06 : Hector Couto - 'Changes' (Original Mix) [Brise Records] 07 : Cabin Fever - 'You Are My High' (Original Mix) [Cabin Trax] 08 : Bas Roos - 'Like Jazz' (Original Mix) [Robsoul Recordings] 09 : I Gemin - 'Your Love' (Original Mix) [Slightly Transformed] 10 : Ari Bald - 'When Reality Hits' (Original Mix) [Astropical] 11 : Luvless - 'The First Aid Manual' (Original Mix) [SlothBoogie] 12 : Ant LaRock - 'Pleasure' (Original Mix) [Refuge Recordings] 13 : Niles Cooper - 'Strygere & Klaver' (Joe Corti Remix) [Kyoku Records]
Today, I sit with Cesar Fazz. A Mexico-born retired Yuma, Az Lieutenant. During our talk, it became evident how fond he was about his tenured career in law enforcement. With public perception of police at an all-time low, I would implore you to be the change you would like to see. We've been itching to get this one up and available since that glorious Sydney Saturday afternoon at Ivy Pool Club a couple of weeks back—and here it is! For context, we were asked to open up proceedings at the first 'Toast' event of the season and, despite the grim weather forecast; Mother Nature turned it on for all... so, we responded accordingly. "The Fazz" and I—unofficially waving the Attic flag—took the opportunity to play some of our lower, slower, funky burners and had an immensely enjoyable time in the process! Huge thanks to the Toast crew, and Christian Grande for the recommendation! Hope you dig this one! x --- : Tracklisting: 01 : Warren G. ft.
