Robert Glazer is a world-renowned CEO, bestselling author, and performance culture architect known for building multimillion-dollar companies without compromising values. As the creator of the viral Friday Forward series and an expert in leadership, Robert has helped millions elevate their mindset and develop disciplined, high-impact teams. His work centers on operationalizing genuine core values within organizations and empowering individuals to lead authentically, with clarity and purpose. In addition to his latest book "The Compass Within," he's influenced leaders and entrepreneurs to embrace growth, integrity, and actionable change in every aspect of their lives and businesses. Takeaways: Core values are only meaningful when they guide real behaviors and decisions—not just words on a wall or clever acronyms. True leadership operationalizes these values at every level of the organization. Personal and company values should be intrinsic, not aspirational. Leaders who understand and live by their authentic values make stronger decisions, inspire trust, and build happier, more resilient teams. Burnout comes from misalignment, not just overwork. High performers avoid burnout by aligning their daily activities and choices with their personal core values, focusing on the journey rather than just the destination.  Sound Bites: “The behaviors you reward are ultimately the core values and the culture.” – Robert Glazer “You are going to lead from your core values whether you realize it or not.” – Robert Glazer “Hustle without strategy is just burnout.” – Mick Hunt Connect & Discover Robert: Website: https://robertglazer.com/ Podcast: The Elevate Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertglazer_/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/glazer/ Book: The Compass Within The Six  Core Values Question page: https://robertglazer.com/six/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RobertSGlazer

Welcome to the What's Next! Podcast with Tiffani Bova.    This week, I'm joined by Robert Glazer. Robert is a #1 Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and international bestselling author, TEDx speaker, and the founder of Acceleration Partners, a $50M global partner marketing agency known for its award-winning culture. He is also the creator of Friday Forward, a weekly inspirational newsletter read by over 200,000 professionals in 60+ countries. And he has a new book out called The Compass Within.   THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR…leaders, founders, and professionals who want to align their decisions with their core values and lead with greater clarity and authenticity.   TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE…in fast-moving and uncertain times, it's easy to get pulled in different directions. Robert Glazer believes the antidote is grounding yourself in your values. Your "compass within" not only guides your personal and professional choices but also determines how you lead, build trust, and shape culture. By knowing what truly drives you, you'll make better decisions, connect more deeply with others, and avoid environments that drain your energy.   KEY TAKEAWAYS… Your values act as a blueprint for better decisions at work and in life. Leaders unconsciously lead from their values—knowing them makes you more effective. High-performing teams thrive when individuals share and honor their core values. Self-awareness is the foundation for authentic leadership and sustainable growth.   WHAT I LOVE MOST…Robert's reminder that many of us only realize our values when they're crossed—what he calls the “electric fence test.” By identifying them earlier, we can make intentional choices that help us thrive instead of simply reacting when something feels wrong.   Running Time: 24:25   Subscribe on iTunes     Find Tiffani Online: LinkedIn Facebook X    Find Robert Online: LinkedIn Website   Robert's Book: The Compass Within: A Little Story About the Values That Guide Us   The Six Core Values Questions

If you don't know your core values, you'll likely build a business that looks successful on paper but leaves you burned out and misaligned in real life. That's why I invited my friend Robert Glazer on the podcast. He's an entrepreneur, bestselling author, and someone I always learn from when it comes to leadership. Robert built a global business that won dozens of “Best Place to Work” awards, writes the Friday Forward newsletter read by hundreds of thousands each week, and has published five books translated worldwide. His new book The Compass Within is about uncovering the values that drive you—and using them to align your business and life so success actually feels fulfilling. In this conversation, Robert and I dig into where core values really come from, why it's so important to share them with your team, and how to infuse them into your culture so your firm can grow without losing what makes it special. We also talk through his “three climbs” framework, and why so many advisors get to the top of the wrong mountain and wonder why it doesn't feel like freedom.3 of the biggest insights from Robert…1. The Compass Within: Why Advisors Need a Core Values FrameworkRobert's new book isn't just another leadership parable—it's a tool to help you figure out the values that drive every decision you make. When you know those, you can build a firm that scales without burning you out, gives your team clarity, and actually supports the kind of freedom you want.2. Core Values Are Formed Earlier Than You ThinkMost values are rooted in childhood—they usually come from one of two places: the moments that lit us up, or the painful experiences we swore we'd never repeat. When you understand those drivers, you can lead more authentically, set clearer expectations, and avoid the blind spots that derail teams.3. From Words on the Wall to Culture That WorksValues don't matter if they just sit on a wall—they've got to show up in daily behavior. Robert shares how firms can turn values into real systems so your firm attracts the right people, and scales trust without the founder needing to be in every room.4. The 3 Climbs: How to Build a Business You Never Want to Retire FromToo many advisors grind their way up the wrong mountain, only to find emptiness at the top. Robert explains the 3 climbs of entrepreneurship and how to design your firm so the journey itself is energizing.SHOW NOTEShttps://bradleyjohnson.com/138FREE GIFT + JOIN THE DBDL INSIDER CREWToday's Gift: Get copy of Robert's book, "The Compass Within" [while supplies last]To get access to today's free gift AND become a DBDL Insider with VIP access to future resources and exclusive content, text "138" to 785-800-3235. *Message and data rates may apply. Welcome to episode #1004 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). What does it really mean to lead with values when so much of modern business seems built on quarterly results and surface-level culture? Robert Glazer has spent his career proving that sustainable performance isn't just about financial results. It's about the alignment between who you are and what you stand for. As founder and chairman of Acceleration Partners (a marketing agency), Bob built a company repeatedly recognized as one of the best places to work. Beyond the accolades, he is an author of seven books, including Elevate, Elevate Your Team and his latest, The Compass Within: A Little Story About the Values That Guide Us. In this conversation, Bob explores the central role that core values play in authentic leadership, how formative experiences shape decision-making and why self-awareness is the foundation of both personal and organizational growth. He explains how parables and storytelling can make complex business ideas more memorable, why mentorship still matters in a polarized and tech-driven world and how the rise of AI is intersecting with deeply human questions about meaning, integrity and belief. Bob reminds us that values are not slogans for walls or websites but active forces that define culture, guide behavior and ultimately determine whether leaders and organizations thrive or falter. In an era where data can overwhelm judgment and polarization can fracture trust, his work pushes us to examine whether our actions reflect the values we claim to hold, and how to close that gap. My experience is most everyone thinks they know what their core values are, and in truth, very, very few do. And due to this we find ourselves doing things that are not fulfilling to us, and not engaged with what does fulfill us. Amidst that we grow…frustrated. Even to bitterness. Or fairly apathetic and just going through the grind. So I've brought someone on to the show to hear his story, of going from not understanding his core values, to getting very clear on them. I think it will help you better understand what core values really are and how to get clarity on yours…and adjust your life accordingly. Robert Glazer was walking aimlessly through school with his drive…disengaged. He decided to travel abroad and found his interest in business outside the school walls. He started learning the ropes, but it was still later that he found a desire to clarify his values. He spent six months getting clear on four, key core values. When he discovered them, he says the next 15 years were just fantastic. He founded a global marketing agency, started an inspirational newsletter called Friday Forward that reaches over 200,000 readers worldwide each week, and hit the #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller list as author of several books, including Elevate, and now is host of the Elevate Podcast. His show has many similar guests as I do here, and what drives them is a key focal point, but he gives more space to a business focus. He is also the author of the Friday Forward newsletter, read around the world by 200,000 people. Robert, welcome to the show. Thanks for having me, Steve. Well, let's start with the beginning. How does one, be it five successful companies, writes multiple best-selling books when they still look much too young for my eyes? Do you see that? Maybe not five successful companies, but I had the failures first, so maybe that was a good learning. But yeah, look, I probably unsustainably burned it at all ends for almost a decade. And so I'm doing some revisiting of my own physical capacity and trying to be more sequential in some of my work and not do everything at once. But a lot of it was really tied together, right? I was building, when I was building the business and acceleration partners, because I was a lot of sharing a lot of those stories and doing the writing. And my role in the organization evolved over time to be more of the sort of strategy and the culture. And I had a great kind of partner who took over the operation, the pieces that they often found in different people. So what does it mean, Partnership Marketing Agency? What does partnership marketing look like? Yeah, we're a big fish in a small pond. So we focus on what partner and affiliate marketing, which is a form of digital marketing. And unlike kind of people Google, which is per click or Facebook or things that are impression based. Uh, this is where brands partner with publishers or affiliates who agree to promote their product or services, have everything tracked, and then they only get paid, uh, when it performs, sort of cost per action. So you could imagine, you know, you could be a partner of Amazon or affiliate and, you know, after this podcast and a recap and say, here are Bob's five best books. And if people buy those, you make 5% or 6% on each book. So it's actually a big part of e-commerce. It's probably about 20%. I think it's not as talked about in public because people writing these lists and bestsellers and influencers, and they're not doing all this stuff out of the goodness of their heart, but they may not want to make it super clear that anything you click on and buy from them, they get paid a part of. But this is basically how the content world is marrying up with the commerce world online. A lot of people talk about influencer marketing and how influencers are so critical in promoting products, especially more mature products.  Influencers big. And again, it depends on how you pay, like influencers are also affiliate. Some get paid $10,000 to build content and run a campaign, and some are actually just paid based on what they sell. So it's just sort of the model around that. So it's all about finding the balance of providing the content and the advertising and how do you not burn out your followers, I guess. You have to be authentic. You can, for a while, get away with just promoting things because you get paid for them. But I think the people who are actually most successful at this have huge fallings, a lot of authenticity, a lot of trust with their audience. And what's happening today is that people trust other people about what to buy more than they trust the brand telling them.

Title: 2023 Listener Favorite: Elevating Your Organization Starts with Elevating Your Team with Robert Glazer Welcome to the What's Next! Podcast with Tiffani Bova.  As we approach the end of the year, I'm pausing to look back and celebrate all of the wonderful guests that I had the honor of speaking to on the show. And based on your feedback, many of these guests resonated with you as well so we're giving you another chance to hear them in this series of 2023 listener-favorite episodes! This week, we're bringing back an episode with Robert Glazer. Robert is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Acceleration Partners, a global partner marketing agency and the recipient of numerous industry and company culture awards, including Glassdoor's Employees' Choice Awards two years in a row.  He is the author of the inspirational newsletter Friday Forward. He's also the #1 Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and international bestselling author of five books: Elevate, Friday Forward, How To Thrive In The Virtual Workplace, Moving To Outcomes, and Performance Partnerships. He is a sought-after speaker by companies and organizations around the world and is the host of The Elevate Podcast.   THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… leaders who want to foster a culture of growth and anybody who is managing a virtual team.  TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE… the growth of an organization is proportionate to the growth of the individuals on the team. Just as much as leaders focus on business growth, they should focus on the growth of their employees who are on the ground doing the work. Robert breaks this down into four key elements: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical.  WHAT I LOVE MOST… the way that Robert manages employees against agreed-upon KPIs instead of sporadically checking in on small steps along the way. This gives his remote team autonomy and flexibility to achieve their goals and, ultimately, reinforces a culture of trust.  Running Time: 28:10 Subscribe on iTunes Find Tiffani Online: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Find Robert Online: Official Website Twitter LinkedIn Robert's Book: Elevate
