The Truth About Certifications (and Why Haters Gonna Hate)

Sign & Thrive

Send us a textThe mobile notary and loan signing industry is filled with opinions, misinformation, and yes, a whole lot of noise. Some say you need certification to succeed. Others say you're being scammed if you even consider paying for education. So what's the truth?I'm here to tell you straight: Certifications are 100% voluntary—but for the right notary, they can be a total game-changer.In this episode, I pull back the curtain on what certifications actually do (and what they don't), why haters love to hate, and how to navigate the noise with integrity, strategy, and confidence. You'll hear:Why certification is NOT required—but often helpfulWhat continuing education actually does for your business (think: confidence, credibility, and conversations)How to spot toxic energy and hypocrisy in the industryThe crabs-in-a-bucket mindset and why it's holding good notaries backHow to stop collecting certifications and start putting them to workWhy implementation is the missing link in most notaries' growthWe've got notaries from all walks of life joining this industry—white-collar professionals, single parents, career switchers, retirees, and people starting over. So when someone says “You don't need that,” they're often speaking from their place of privilege and experience—not yours.Education is how we shine the light back on the path we've walked so others can find their way, too.Mentioned in This Episode:

SaaS Marketing Bites from Powered By Search

Only a handful of SaaS marketing leaders I spoke to in Q1 expected that they'd even be close to their pipeline goalsAnd almost certainly, CMOs, VPs, Directors, Heads of, will be asked by the higher-ups what happenedThe answers will be simple:Whether it's the relentless cutting of teams and budgets, deals taking longer to move through pipeline or a decrease in demand across the marketIt has been... unpleasantI've been reflecting on my own performance this quarter and I'm OK with admitting I'm behind what I'd normally expect in Q1But I'm also not beating myself up and here's why:1. The client-product fit is extremely strongWe've been talking about how bad this period will be since Q2 last year! So as a team, we decided to focus on revisiting the quality of our pipelineBy refining our targeting and our messaging, we were able to attract more perfect-fit prospects than ever beforeAnd because the messaging was pain point focused messaging for right now, those prospects are converting into customers at an extremely satisfying rate2. The infrastructure we built in Q1 is future-focusedIt's likely going to be a bad Q2 compared to historical performance too. Maybe even worse than we expected because of aftershocks from the emerging banking crisisThat said, we fully expected it to be uncomfortable in Q2 too and made the choice to focus on building out foundations for new channels that would pay dividends in Q3 and Q4 when everything (we hope) picks up againWhat does that look like?– Building a total addressable market audience – I personally reviewed thousands of companies for fit– Built systems for getting in front of those companies today– Built systems internally for managing the different kinds of companies who we are already seeing fill our pipeline (it's a trickle, but it's an early sign)3. We got problem focused and scrappy againWe've been in years of plenty and that breeds an attitude of entitlement: "we do x and we get y"But the past 90-120 days have been all about trimming the fat in what we doWe removed heaps of stuff that wasn't serving us in reaching our best customers, redistributed investment to channels that we're building, tried stuff that made everyone feel uncomfortable (see basically any post I've done since Jan 1 on LinkedIn

#36 – Do This Every Day to Fast Track Your Goals   Click here for your free download with this episode One of my weaknesses is that I am always on the lookout for new habits that have the potential to help me experience more joy and appreciation, to create more abundance or to do good and help others more effectively or consistently. I know this might sound like a healthy enough interest, but if it was up to me I'd almost string my life together with habits. And I know that would actually defeat the purpose of creating a happier, more abundant life because it would allow for no spare time to do something spontaneous or to enjoy the moment. But it is safe to say that I am a bit of a sucker for habits. Luckily I've learned (over many many years!) to be selective and to accept that I can't possibly do it all, no matter how amazing a new idea sounds. I might try it out, but I know there's a limit to how many things I can actually do. That said, I do have a few habits that are so special and powerful that I think everybody should have a go at trying them out. Just because they are 100% worth the effort. In today's episode of the Financial Harmoney Podcast, I am going to share one of THE most effective habits I've come to implement. And it's the perfect habit if you want to hit your goals AND are open to trying out something new. Believe me, this is a habit worth putting in to your daily routine! After listening to this episode you'll know:The one habit I recommend you try for 1 month to help you fast track your goalsThe 6 reasons why this habit is so powerful4 Tips on how to implement this success formula in less than 5 minutes per dayHow it's helped me recently to get back on track with my business ánd personal goalsAnd to help you get started as well as maintain your new habit for 1 month, you can download your habit tracker along with a super short summary of the key points of this episode here. Money is a topic we are obsessed with in this society. It's incredibly sensitive, so we rarely talk about it directly. Yet we're constantly surrounded by conversations related to it. Part of the reason is that there is a great deal of shame surrounding it – mostly in not having it, though for some there's shame in having it that leads them to not have it. All this emotional weight and avoidance creates a very disempowering dynamic.  In order to reclaim this tool to build sustainable lives and businesses we must start by intentionally engaging our relationship with money. In this episode of the Unlimited Podcast I invited Ornella E Yovo to join me in a conversation around developing tangible financial empowerment. Some of what we talk about in this episode include:Why we avoid dealing with money and what avoidance can look likeBuilding your financial musclesThe problems with trying to “mindset” your way to wealthCreating sustainable habits around moneySetting boundaries to strategically engage goalsAnd more! Thank you for listening! If you enjoyed this episode, take a screenshot of the episode to post in your stories and tag me!  @unlimitedcoachvalI love to hear your thoughts and I'm always happy to answer any questions. You can shoot me an email at valerie@valeriefriedlander.com or DM me on InstagramAND don't forget to subscribe, rate and review the podcast and tell me your key takeaways!CONNECT WITH ORNELLA E YOVO:Instagram with OrnellaInstagram with OsqrdWork with Ornella!CONNECT WITH VALERIE:Facebook Instagram Get email updates!
