"Did you have any idea that the release of your song “Into the Sea” would coincide with a worldwide pandemic and bring hope to millions?" Tasha is not only engaging and wonderfully approachable, but her wisdom and faith is far beyond her years. Our conversation was like old friends over coffee sharing the wonder of all God has done in her life. Of course, the truth is, we are old friends. Tasha and I met while studying divinity at Kings University. We became close during that challenging season. We were following the Holy Spirit after receiving the call of God on our lives and had yet to see all the God would do to bring us to the places we are serving now. Oh yes, “Look What You've Done” is appropriate. It is also the title of her newest song. Join me, and my friend Tasha Layton.

The Way of Improvement Leads Home: American History, Religion, Politics, and Academic life.

In August 2019, The New York Times Magazine published The 1619 Project, an attempt to reframe American history by "placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative." American historians have praised and criticized the project. In this episode we talk with Thomas Mackaman, a history professor at Kings University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and a writer for World Socialist Web Site. Mackaman has not only criticized The 1619 Project, but has interviewed other critics of the project, including several award-winning historians. Why are socialists so upset about this project? What is the backstory behind Mackaman's interviews with Gordon Wood, James McPherson, Clayborne Carson, and other 1619 Project critics? Anyone interested in debates over how historians do history and connect the past to present political and social issues will learn something from this episode. Learn more about your ad choices. How your relationships, faith, mindset, and willingness to change will determine your influence   In this week’s episode, we interview Christian speaker, leadership coach, and author J. Loren Norris.   J Loren Norris’ passion is to equip, train and mentor the next generation of leaders. Loren hosts workshops for private groups, conducts life leadership seminars and mentors students. Whether entertaining and engaging crowds of 40,000 or sharing “life lessons” with elementary students, Loren approaches every crowd with an open mind and loving heart.   He has an uncanny gift for storytelling and can teach you how to effectively interweave your life story into any topic, subject or big idea. Through this process he teaches speakers, leaders and parents to transform their story and transform their lives.   Loren is also a Certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach. For years, he has coached Dale Carnegie Courses, has trained leaders, teachers and pastors for Gateway Church, The Kings University, and entrepreneurial leadership courses at Brookhaven College.   In This Episode You Will Learn:   Where you came from doesn’t have to determine where you’re going.   The five people you spend the most time with can and will change your life.   The law of attraction works… especially for those who have faith!   We have the mind of Christ and when we think the thoughts of Christ, amazing things happen!   You don’t have to agree 100% with people to seek their wisdom on certain matters.   And, much, much more!   Memorable Quotes:   “We have to be able to entertain thoughts that we’ve never had before in order to change our reality.” - S. Richard     “The Enemy wants the Church to be broke because when the Church has money the Church has power.” - J. Loren Norris     “The reason some people are broke is because they’re blaming everybody else for their lack of success.” - J. Loren Norris     “Action trumps everything! If you don’t like where you’re at, do something about it.” - J. Loren Norris     “Understand that the authority to change your life is married to the responsibility you take of your life.” - J. Loren Norris     “There is no tree that will ever grow a leaf unless the roots be buried in deep soil, and someone has to tend that soil. Someone has to be able to feed those nutrients into those roots.” - J. Loren Norris     “Some will say: ‘If you’re rich and you call yourself a Christian you should be giving back to the poor. Now, hang on a minute! The first guy who was noted for saying that was Judas Iscariot.” - J. Loren Norris     “If you’re not able, that’s one thing. But if you’re not willing, that’s not my fault. So, my success does not mean your failure” - J. Loren Norris     “If we can get it through our minds that money is in the hands of ‘Jireh’ (God will provide); and money like mountains, like cancer, like the issue of blood, like the little girl who died while Jesus was on His way - they all answer to Him.” - J. Loren Norris     “I love the T-shirt I saw the other day in a bookstore that said: ‘To leave the 99 in search of the one seems nuts… unless you’re the one.’' - J. Loren Norris     “God blessed us to be a blessing.” - J. Loren Norris     “There’s a reason why the devil doesn’t want Christians to be wealthy… because once they are wealthy, they kill poverty. Christians who are wealthy fight abortion. Christians who are wealthy adopt young children. Christians who are wealthy give to educate, to empower, and they fight the social agenda of the gates of hell.” - J.... Support this podcast

Refusing to use the ‘coloured entrances’ in the Jim Crow era and using her art to expand into the fullest version of her self, singing with her entire chest and captivating audiences that would have ordinarily overlooked her resplendence because of the colour of her skin.   About Sarah Rose Gregory:   Sarah is a storyteller, ex civil servant, artistic activist, event organiser, community fund raiser,  black British woman, of Ghanaian and Irish descent with four children, an ardent dyslexic who campaigns. Whether it be leading NFL players and their families in daily devotionals, overseeing a retreat of over 300 young adults, or spending time with his family across the globe, Pastor Chad M. Johnson is always on the go! Pastor and Professional Sports Chaplain, Chad M. Johnson has experienced the ups and downs that life as we know it can bring, but he hasn’t allowed that to stop his ministry. At the young age of 17 while attending a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camp, it became clear to Chad that his purpose in life was far different than others his age. It was at this moment that he came to the realization that Christ placed him on this Earth to impact the lives of thousands. Igniting a passion within him, Chad returned from this camp, and immediately took to sharing The Gospel of Christ! In the beginning stages of his journey, Pastor Chad began sharing the Word by leading team chapel services for local high school area sports programs. From there, his career skyrocketed! In 2002, he pioneered the first citywide urban youth retreat, “Camp Elevate” that is now nationally recognized and continues to meet annually. His ministry continued to reach new heights in 2002 when he was asked to serve in the NFL as the Arizona Cardinals team chaplain. During his time with the Cardinals, his duties included and still include; mentoring and pastoring thousands of professional athletes. After his departure from the Arizona Cardinals, Chad went on to continue his ministry with the Pittsburgh Steelers in which he currently works for Athletes in Action. For the past 6 years he has also served as the spring training chaplain for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chad’s heart for the young men in the sports industry is evident as he has worked with over 100 professional athletes. His heart’s desire is to see athletes become the men that God has called them to be. In 2006, Chad started “Elevate International”, a non-profit organization that serves urban youth and families worldwide. To date, there have been fourteen consecutive camps for youth between grades 6 and 12, named Camp Elevate, and seven retreats for young adults age 18-35, named Elevate Remix. Chad’s educational background consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministries from Arizona Christian University in Phoenix. He also spent time at Kings University; immediately following completion of his undergraduate career, Chad began making an immediate impact within the inner city. One of his main areas of expertise is working with “at risk” youth and families. This has been demonstrated as he has served in various capacities such as: Youth and Children’s Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Executive/Student Ministries Pastor at Church for the Nations, leading discipleship discussion, outreaches, and service projects, organizing and attending missions to the community and to other countries worldwide.

Alexander feel as though he has the best parents in the world. They support me through absolutely everything. Coasted through public school involving himself in as many things as possible. Went to the high school where Alexander’s public school fed into. All was fine, one of his friends passed away in Grade 9 which was tough. Went through the rest of high school playing soccer and in the band and being involved in as many leadership opportunities as possible. It came to university choices where Alexander studied at Kings University at Western University. Alexander then lost his friend between the summer of 1st and 2nd year tragically and that kind of changed everything for him. Until recently Alexander fell into a slump where he wasn’t always staying true to himself, and that’s the message Alexander want to talk about. Being true to yourself and sometimes not always keeping everyone around. It sounds harsh but being true to himself and authentic with what Alexander do has helped get himself to where he wants to be today and has allowed Alexander to set himself on a path where he will continue to grow and learn. Alexander is a postgraduate student at George Brown for sport and event marketing and currently in his internship. Never underestimate the power of authenticity. There have been times in each of our lives where we have felt alone in a large crowd of people. The desire of our hearts are to feel connected and feel like we belong somewhere, but all too often it can be a struggle to find our group of friends where we can just be ourselves.  There are people all around us that are hurting and broken, praying and hoping that someone will stop and notice them. Are we interruptible? Are we so focused on our own agenda that we miss when our brothers and sisters are praying for a friend?  Join Amy Ford for a special broadcast as she interviews her oldest son, Jess Ford who is starting his senior year in high school along with his close friend Abram Deprang who just graduated high school and is soon to start his first year of college at Kings University. Tune in to hear how difficult it is in today's society to not sacrifice your beliefs while finding a place to fit in and belong. You will LOVE this! Share with your friends! Be encouraged to allow the Holy Spirit to interrupt us so that we can help others and be aware when God brings us people that need a friend!
