The Extraordinary Anna Parke by Melanie Murphy is a great read in womens literature with magical realism! This is a great read with just a touch of magic. Like a womens literature, this book strongly develops the emotional tension and relationships women's literature is known for. Melanie Murphy when she isn't writing, she has her nose in a good book, cheering her two boys at their little league gams, and her toes in the sand. She lives in a great community called Massapequa Park, in Long Island. When she isn't teaching, she can be found teaching English, reading a good book, cheering on her boys at a little league game, or relaxing in the sand at the local beach (in the summers of course). If you are interested in purchasing their books, you can do so here https://www.amazon.com/Extraordinary-Anna-Parke-Melanie-Murphy/dp/B0CCCKKF5Y If you enjoyed this episode you might also enjoy my interview with If you are interested in being a guest on my podcast, you may fill out the form on my website: http://authorsalcove.com/be-a-guest You can also follow me on: Facebook: http://facebook.com/authorsalcove Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/authorsalcovepodcast/ Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/agnes-wolfe-20bb47288/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2EQYPBl1LtZh08qCdIRHTy?si=aa56d7a9565a49fa YouTube: https://www.youtube. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/authorsalcove/message

Joining me this week on the podcast is Youtuber, author and mother of two Melanie Murphy. Melanie's approach to parenthood really resonates with me, and we talk a lot about both feeling very strongly that whatever way you want to parent is your choice, and no one else's. She discusses her choice to bedshare with her babies, her choice to talk about breastfeeding online – which brought a whole new level of criticism to her door – how her past experience with eating disorders has shaped the way she views feeding her children, and her decision not to share her children's names. When you speak to Melanie, she's so engaging that you can immediately understand why she's got such an adoring following online – I hope you leave this episode feeling like you're not alone in ANY of your parenting struggles. Voice Over Talent Melanie Murphy sits down with Jeff Bickerstaff to help us understand how voice image plays a significant role in business relationships, from marketing to management. Funny enough, her first occupational interest was being a great LISTENER as a counselor. For those of us who know Melanie, that's no surprise! She has a keen sense of what people need to hear so we can more effectively convey information. Like many local business owners, Jeff was unsure what it meant to use voice talent for business. Melanie breaks down what the brand voice sounds like to the marketplace to help us understand where we can be more clear, more direct, more friendly, and eliminate marketplace confusion. If you're experiencing delays in the sales cycles or answering the same questions over and over again, you should probably talk to Melanie. She can help you see from an objective perspective how clarification of voice systems and messaging can solve problems you may not know exist. Working with a voice image specialist may be the smartest move you make to grow your business. Note: This episode has a few swear words so please be aware of your surroundings when listening out loud! I recently took a free self defense class at Way of the Crane in Boulder. It was hosted by Newton Running and the sensei, Melanie Murphy, was fantastic. She was strong and bold and in just one hour, she made us feel stronger and bolder. I knew immediately when she started talking that I needed to get her on the podcast. We recorded a couple weeks ago and I decided her message was the perfect way to start the new year. Today we talk about: Traumatic events that push us to find our power Melanie's philosophy on self-defense Dis-ease: turning someone else's disease into a weapon you can use to defend yourself Asshole repellant Tricks that predators use: intimidation, manipulation & more What we can do to help our kids develop their power and avoid being preyed upon Flipping the power switch I know this episode will resonate in some way with each of us. For more empowerment, Melanie offers free classes on the calendar every month and a 4-hour intensive class that will drive home what you learn so that it starts to become second nature. If you’re in Colorado, this is a great opportunity for you to gain strength and confidence. Check the calendar here for more info. In the very short term, she has a free intro class on Wed Jan 9 6-7PM and she’s taking enrollment for her 4 hour workshop on Jan 27 from 12-4. To further enhance your strength and empowerment this year, Skirt Sports is offering you 20% off your orders through March. Just use the code RUN20. If you aren’t familiar with Skirt Sports, I founded the company in 2004 because I wanted clothing that didn’t ride up or chafe, that fit my body, and that was cute! So I figured out how to start a clothing company and I did it. Over the years, we have grown and evolved. Today we offer a full line of women’s athletic apparel that fits our bodies and makes us feel good. So be sure to use the code RUN20 as we’re launching all sorts of incredible stuff this season. To close out, it’s Melanie's final nugget that you need to hold close as you enter this new year. “Speak from your heart. Believe your soul. And trust your body.” As always, thank you so much for giving me a very long 5k of your time. If you have any recommendations for guests, feedback, questions or more, let me know. I’m here for you. All right then, you know what time it is. It’s time to get out there and run this world. Have a great workout and I’ll see you next week!

In today’s episode of The OffBeat Business Show and OffBeat Business TV, OBBM CEO and host Susan Hamilton, talks with Steve Mangum about the blockchain and the impact crypto currency is having in 2018. Share this valuable conversation with your friends and peers, and let’s get ready for currency conversions that can make or break the local family business landscape in the very near future. Steve Mangum is the VP of Zero Waste Advocacy, a company recognized for blockchain strategy as it relates to the disposal of company waste disposal. Retired Fort Worth Police Sgt. Richard Morris talks with Host Susan Hamilton about what officers in our communities go through as officers, husbands and community members. In light of escalated violence in schools and churches - even riots and aggression - across our nation, our officers are exposed to tragedies that are often not addressed in a way that allows them to decompress or recover properly. Due to this, first responders have a life expectancy of 15 years less than a civilian. Listen as Richard Morris shares compassion and simple behaviors we can adopt to be part of the solution, and possibly save lives in the process. Discover RichardMorrisSeminars.com for self defense strategies, classes, and more.
