A lo-fi version of the show this week, as Dori had a bumper bashing that did not lead to Adventures in Babysitting-style shenanigans.Dolph Lundgren dons a wig and teases Paulo, while Dori is intrigued by the most banned movie of all time — which just happens to be from the '80s and also happens to sound like a Berlin techno club.We take the time to remember Val Kilmer's most '80s — and '80s-adjacent — movies. Plus, we recap all the lovely acts of charity performed by George Michael, which raised the question: £25,000 or a cappuccino with Georgios? We also find out that the crowd at a Journey concert just goes on and on and on… while Paul Young goes nowhere without holding onto the railings.Jump to: - Dolph Lundgren is a tease (00:02:40) - Silent Album Protest (00:05:00) - Necromantic (00:10:30) - Val Kilmer Tribute (00:15:25) - George Michael's Generosity (00:30:10) - Journey Concert Fire (00:34:36) - Paul Young's Injury (00:36:14)https://movieweb.com/masters-of-universe-dolph-lundgren-cameo-tease/https://english.elpais.com/culture/2025-02-25/thousands-of-british-artists-back-silent-album-against-ai-is-this-what-we-want.html?outputType=amphttps://www.imdb.com/video/vi1319420697/?playlistId=tt0089886&ref_=ext_shr_lnkhttps://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14200643/George-Michaels-kindness-remembered-Christmas-star-funded-IVF-hopefuls-treatment-paid-strangers-25-000-debt-changed-ladys-car-tyre-rain.htmlhttps://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/2027884/beloved-80s-band-concert-abruptly-haltedhttps://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-news/2028556/paul-young-age-hospital-fall

Prepare to be consumed by the abyss! Veiled Metamorphosis, the crushing collaboration between Vitriol (ex-Nihill) and Grave Desecrator (ex-Necronomicon), has delivered an absolute masterpiece with their debut album, Tentacled Void of Infinity. This release is a monolithic blend of funeral doom's suffocating weight and the ferocity of first-wave black metal. From the crawling riffs to the guttural growls, every track feels like a necromantic ritual, pulling listeners into an unrelenting vortex of darkness. The album's atmosphere is pure evil, with each note meticulously crafted to crush and captivate. Mixed at Deathcrush Studios (Holland) and mastered at Point Break Studios (Stockholm), the production is as haunting as it is powerful. If you're a fan of extreme metal that pushes boundaries while honoring its roots, this is the album to immerse yourself in. Don't miss out on this spellbinding journey into the void!

The night before battle, a nervous young officer consults a witch, who promises to raise the dead to prophesy for him... Adapted from Lucan, Civil War, 6.413-830, followed by a discussion of Roman witches, zombies, and a lengthy digression on horse rearing! Content warning: The story is a lot gorier than usual, and there are references to suicide and to abortion and birth trauma in the commentary.

In one sense, it is a mere truism to speak of the evocative power of words. The olden efficacy of subtly woven spells, of magic formulas and incantations, has long become a literary metaphor; though the terrible reality which once underlay and may still underlie such concepts has been forgotten. However, the necromancy of language is more than a metaphor to Sir Roderick Hagdon: the scars of fire on his ankles are things which no one could possibly regard as having their origin in a figure of speech. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hmphaudiobooks/support

5.06 - Alyn’s Feeling Necromantic by Garbage Productions
Having followed the Champion of Selanna across nearly half of the continent of Cairith, the Adventurers from N'drin have finally arrived at the city of Farglenn just in time to get mixed up in the threat posed by a Necromancer that had managed to cripple the defenses of the city. Teaming up with a local captain and her twin brother, the only path froward seems to be to attempt to retake the fortress east of town and then try and stop the necromancer before the Winter Solstice, two days away. YOUR 2016 PHP PODCAST OF THE YEAR from simpleprogrammer.com Welcome to the very first episode of 2017! We’re back after a nice break for the holidays and ready to get back to being insightful and unfiltered. In this episode we talked about the concept of “programming as craft” with Chris and Ed having a great discussion about what should follow after the phrase “programmers need to learn empathy.” Ed also released some music, and is donating all the proceeds to OSMI. Chris was sad that he did not get the opportunity to re-record the vocal tracks from some of Ed’s older material in his own signature vocal style. Chris also talked (not so briefly) about the new laptop he bought and the security measures he decided to take with it. Do these things! Check out our sponsors WonderNetwork, Grumpy Learning and Open Sourcing Mental Illness Buy stickers at devhell.info/shop Follow us on Twitter here Rate us on iTunes here Listen Download now (MP3) Links and Notes Kent Beck’s tweet about programmers and empathy Ed recommended a book on non-violent communication Ed’s music stylings as Dead Agent Chris bought a Satechi Slim Type-C Multi-Port Adapter and one of the Apple USB-A-to-C adapters for his YubiKey Can Single User Mode get around FileVault? Prey can help protect your laptop if it gets stolen Chris blogged about his new laptop and setup Both Ed and Chris have had great success with recommendations provided by The Wirecutter
Thornli, Tabago and Krazius continue their search of the Void for Nibbles and spread chaos through the facility like some deadly holiday cheer. This week, on The Ace of Geeks Podcast, Jarys and Mike dive into a discussion on roleplaying games â?? what systems are better? Plus â?? weâ??ll discuss Ant-man, which Jarys and Melissa think is better than Guardians of the Galaxy, Mike got to try out Playmation, Disneyâ??s new imagination-based toy line, and weâ??ll debate whether the Battle of Hoth was a victory for the Empire or not.
