Can Democrat Stupidity Be Measured - Weekend Recap 12-07-25

“How stupid are Democrats?” Every time we think we've hit the bottom, they break out a jackhammer and start digging like they're hoping to discover a new layer of dumb beneath the mantle. Democrats don't just make mistakes—they build entire ecosystems of stupidity. They terraform reality until rational people look around thinking, “Did I miss a memo? Did the CDC issue a stupidity outbreak warning and I forgot to mask up?”I mean, we've reached the point where an overweight farm-animal-shaped dude—complete with a fully intact factory-issued reproductive package—wins the “World's Strongest Woman” contest. That's not progress; that's performance art for people who failed high-school biology but excelled in cosplay. And the best part? The contest officials were SHOCKED. “What? He's not a woman?” Like someone told them gravity was political.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode, we examine why arts education often maintains higher standards even as liberal arts programs shrink in schools and universities, and what students lose when curriculum narrows to job training. We discuss how platforms like X are adding country-of-origin labels to identify foreign influence and bot activity, and highlight the “foolishness of the week” involving the controversy over the “world's strongest woman” and the broader questions it raises about biology and competitive fairness. We turn to Australia's proposal to ban social media for kids under sixteen, exploring the practical limits of age verification, the tension between parental authority and government regulation, and why teens remain vulnerable to algorithmic manipulation. We close by considering where society should draw age boundaries, how platforms shape behavior, and what genuine responsibility looks like in the digital age. 00:00 Introduction and Overview 00:29 The State of Arts Education Today 02:57 Why Liberal Arts Are Disappearing From Schools 05:45 What a Liberal Arts Education Actually Provides 06:59 X Adds Country-of-Origin Labels 09:56 Foolishness of the Week: “World's Strongest Woman” 11:31 Biology, Fairness, and Competition in Sports 17:51 Age Rules and Arbitrary Lines 20:53 Australia's Proposed Social Media Ban for Under-16s 23:21 Why Age Verification Won't Work in Practice 26:08 Should the Government Regulate Children's Social Media Use? 27:32 Algorithmic Bubbles and Teen Vulnerability 33:45 96% of Australian Children Ages 10-15 Use Social Media 34:55 Where to Draw the Line: 13, 16, or 18? 39:34 Parental Responsibility vs. Government Control 46:34 Closing Thoughts on Freedom, Parenting, and Policy Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of She Who Dares Wins, Michelle sits down with Becca Worgan — the current Natural World's Strongest Woman under 82 kg and possibly the calmest, most grounded powerhouse you'll ever meet.Becca didn't grow up dreaming about lifting atlas stones or dragging cars for fun. She only started Strongman in 2019… and then decided to go and dominate it. Casual. We dig into how she built her strength, both the muscle and the mindset. She talks about juggling university, work, and training without losing her sanity, and why stepping into a Strongman gym as a woman can feel like walking into a secret society — but shouldn't.Becca also shares how a tiny pivot from bodybuilding to Strongman changed everything, why the crew at Steel City Gym in Middlesbrough helped her level up fast, and how community can do what discipline alone can't.There's also plenty on injury setbacks, rebuilding confidence, stepping into commentating, and why she's training to become a physio specifically for strength athletes — because she wants to give back to the sport that gave her direction. It's an episode full of grit, straight talk, and reassurance for every woman who's ever looked at a barbell and thought, “Not sure that's for me.” Spoiler: it is.Key TakeawaysRelentless focus pays off. Becca's success comes from showing up, even on the grim days when motivation left the chat.Your environment matters. A supportive gym isn't a luxury — it's rocket fuel. Steel City proved that.Strength isn't a boys' club. Women face real barriers entering strength sports, but Becca's on a mission to tear those down.Make your passion your career. From competing to commentating to becoming a physio, Becca's building a future rooted in the sport she loves.Setbacks don't define you. Injuries happen — the comeback is where the real mental strength shows up.Notable Quotes“Once you know how to use everything and what you're doing, that fear will go. You can get really confident really quickly in it.”“I just love being strong. It quickly became, I'm more interested in what my body can do than what it looks like.”“It's not selfish. An hour at the gym three or four times a week isn't selfish at all — you can definitely find that time.”“I've never been so pleased about something in my life. All that work was worth it when I won.”“If you're in the northeast, send me a message. I'm training all over the place and I'll happily train with you.”ResourcesBecca Worgan on InstagramSteel City Gym, MiddlesbroughNatural World's Strongest Woman CompetitionChaos PromotionsUK Natural Strength Federation (UKNS)Support the ShowShop hoodies and tees at

UK Athletics have encouraged all their female athletes to get the SRY screen done to ensure eligibility for women's sport. Listener Karla emailed the programme to say that she wanted to talk about what it means to be a female breadwinner. She didn't know it, but Steffie had already read her book and turned up to learn more. They also explore the concept of performance coaching in sports and why Strongwoman doesn't get the same coverage as the men's competitions. Steffie is a competitive strongwoman from Buckie, Scotland, and is the reigning Scottish and British Champion.  A survivor of rape, bullying, and severe depression, she found purpose and power through strength sports — and hasn't looked back since.  Since starting in 2019, Steffie has built a reputation for raw grit and honesty, both on the platform and off. He immediately became enamored by all things strongman, learning everything he could while connecting with the other top athletes in Europe. This eventually led to the start of MST, and the rest is history. Similar to the seminar, there is a ton of valuable take away concepts and lessons in this episode; so, ENJOY! Thanks guys. For listener week, you, our listeners, decide what we cover on the programme. Listener Liz got in touch to say she wanted to know more about the women fighting on the front line in Ukraine. Nuala McGovern is joined by BBC journalist and reporter Olga Malchevska, whose home in Kyiv was bombed at the start of the war. She's been back to Ukraine to meet three women who are fighting for their country – we'll hear from one of them who was severely injured when the car she was in drove over a landmine. As a child Julie De'Ath always wished she had an older brother, ‘an easy pass to get a boyfriend', she said. Two years ago at the age of 67, she finally got one when she received a message on Facebook from a man claiming to be that brother. Her mother had given birth to a baby boy in the 1940s but being unmarried at the time, gave him up for adoption. It was a secret her mother took to her grave. Julie contacted Woman's Hour as part of Listener week to share her story for the first time. We also speak to her long-lost half-brother, Tom, and to Miriam Silver, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, who specialises in parenting and children who have been adopted.  Victorian strongwoman Vulcana was known for her jaw-dropping feats of strength and her breathtaking beauty. Listener Eric suggested her story to us. He asked that we talk to author Rebecca F John, whose historical novel, Vulcana, fictionalises her life. She tells Nuala about the remarkable, and trailblazing, performer. Plus, Sam Taylor, Britain's Strongest Woman 2020, tells us what it's like being a modern-day strongwoman. Franceska Murati is a 27-year-old businesswoman and this year's Miss London. But there's more to this beauty queen that meets the eye. At 4 years old, she arrived in the UK alongside her parents and older sister. They had escaped war-torn Kosovo, smuggling themselves on the back of a lorry. She shares her story. It's something we've all probably done at one point or another - eating alone. Whether that's taking yourself out to a restaurant you've always wanted to go to, grabbing a meal while you're on a solo trip, or cooking for just yourself at home. But despite how common eating alone is - given that in 2022 the Office of National Statistics showed almost one in three households in the UK were people living alone - some might say there's still a stigma around it. So how do we get around it? Nuala talks to Woman's Hour listener Julia Georgallis and food writer Clare Finney.
