We recently had a chance to catch up with legendary producer Troy Taylor for an interview on Instagram Live. During our conversation, we touched on his earlier work with Boyz II Men as Troy produced on their debut album “Cooleyhighharmony”. He did the songs “Little Things” and “Your Love” Delite of course has plenty of history with Trey Songz and worked with them throughout his career. We touched on the progression in Trey's career from his debut to the “Ready” album. We also talk about the impact that the “Anticipation” mixtape had on Trey Songz's career. We took it back to the origins to hear sessions that Troy Taylor had with the likes of 702 as well as the great Stevie Wonder. He then filled us in on his production process and what goes into creating hit songs such as “Sweet Lady” by Tyrese. The producer also talks about some upcoming music that we can expect from him including Trey Songz. Breland and Dru Hill. Watch what he had to say in the video above.

 On 1982's Big Ship, Freddie McGregor's love of African-American soul music comes through loud and clear -- even though many of the more Rastafarian-oriented lyrics are very much a product of the Jamaican experience. True to form, the singer provides a variety of political and apolitical songs. While gems like "Holy Mount Zion" and "Get United" underscore his political/spiritual beliefs as a Rastafarian, McGregor favors more of a lovers rock approach on "Let Me Be the One," "Stop Loving You," and "Sweet Lady." In reggae circles, the term lovers rock refers to reggae that chooses romantic themes over social or political topics -- essentially, it is the reggae equivalent of romantic R&B. And any soul lover who has spent a lot of time savoring the romantic sweet soul of the Delfonics or Brenton Wood should have no problem getting into the lovers rock on this album. For that matter, McGregor's more sociopolitical songs have just as much classic soul appeal. Reissued on CD in 2001, Big Ship is among the best and most consistent albums that McGregor provided in the 1980s.

Tyrese Gibson has become a seasoned vet in the worlds of music and film as well as a respected author. Tyrese, who has been a sensation in the R&B world for nearly two decades, is responsible for such classics as “Sweet Lady” and “How You Gonna Act Like That." Tyrese has transitioned into the world of film starring in the leading role of the John Singleton classic, Baby Boy.  Not fond of the entertainment industry, former RichGirl, Kristal Lyndriette Smith, is back with a solo career and ready to take on the industry. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina, Kristal has always been surrounded by music.  Algebra Blessett, an Atlanta native, began her career by playing club dates before releasing “Purpose,” in 2008, which included the single “Run and Hide.” The album held steady on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums Charts for 14 weeks.  She has collaborated with India.Arie and Esperanza Spalding, winning Grammys for both collaborations, and was featured on Anthony David’s #1 R&B Adult Cotemporary Chart hit, “4evermore.”
