Alors que la France fait face à une conjoncture économique morose marquée par une croissance négative au premier trimestre et une inflation élevée, Thierry Breton n'hésite pas à sonner l'alarme. Selon lui, la France est « vraiment prisonnière de son incurie budgétaire » et risque de sombrer dans une récession technique, avec deux trimestres consécutifs de croissance nulle. L'ancien ministre des Finances pointe du doigt le déficit public français, qui peine à revenir sous la barre des 5% malgré les objectifs européens, et plaide pour l'instauration d'une « règle d'or » budgétaire afin de forcer la discipline.Thierry Breton explique que cette situation affaiblit la voix de la France en Europe, les autres pays lui disant de « faire d'abord le travail chez soi avant de parler ». Il craint que la France ne puisse plus peser sur certains dossiers clés, faute de respecter ses engagements budgétaires.Néanmoins, l'ancien commissaire européen se montre optimiste sur certains sujets, saluant notamment le succès du sommet Choose France, qui a permis d'attirer 93 milliards d'euros d'investissements étrangers, principalement dans les centres de données et l'intelligence artificielle. You have to go deep in the weeds to see it but if you understand the details of the events, the information being revealed by Brennan's lawyers is the opposite of helpful to his case.  As an example, there is a citation included in a footnote of the December 22, 2025, [fn #20 page 6] letter that links to a March 31, 2022, letter sent to John Durham. Here's page 6 of the 2025 letter. Compare the underlined section to the 2022 letter sent to John Durham. In 2025 Brennan is telling the Florida court the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) conclusion was confirmed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in a “very serious review.”  However, in 2022 Brennan told John Durham that Robert Mueller never interviewed him or offered an assessment of the ICA; Mueller just regurgitated it. So, which is it? These contradictions are throughout both of the letters when you compare them side-by-side.  In 2022 former CIA Director John Brennan was trying to escape the Durham review.  In 2025 Brennan is trying to escape a grand jury review. Il engagera le 8 septembre la responsabilité du gouvernement devant l'Assemblée nationale, réunie en session extraordinaire. "Depuis la guerre, la France n'a jamais été aussi endettée qu'elle ne l'est aujourd'hui", a estimé le Premier ministre lors de son discours de politique générale en janvier dernier. Une annonce qui a entrainé une vive inquiétude des secteurs économiques, et notamment des chefs d'entreprise, alors qu'ont lieu en ce moment les universités d'été du Medef. "On ne joue pas avec l'économie", alerte aujourd'hui le président du Medef Patrick Martin. Des incertitudes économiques qui interviennent dans un contexte difficile, avec l'accord tarifaire plafonnant à 15% les droits de douane pour tout ce qui est exporté d'Europe vers les États-Unis. Par ailleurs, le président des États-Unis Donald Trump a menacé lundi d'imposer des nouveaux droits de douane aux pays qui ciblent selon lui les entreprises de la tech américaine. Des commentaires qui semblent viser directement les pays européens.Thierry Breton, ancien Commissaire européen chargé du Marché intérieur, et ancien ministre de l'Economie et des Finances, nous donnera son analyse de la situation politique et économique de la France. Il reviendra également sur le réveil qu'il juge nécessaire de l'Europe, qui selon lui doit davantage peser dans les négociations commerciales avec les Etats-Unis.
