Enjoyed this episode or the podcast in general? Send me a text message:Stealth isn't “dead” and it also isn't enough. What actually decides who lives in contested airspace is who can sense, sort, jam, and adapt faster across the electromagnetic spectrum, and that's why the F-35 is getting a nearly billion-dollar Barracuda electronic warfare upgrade. We walk through what the AN/ASQ-239 is built to do, why wideband transmitters and smarter receivers matter against modern, networked air defense systems, and how this refresh is meant to turn the jet into a far more aggressive digital threat. We also get real about the bottlenecks nobody memes about: heat, power, and integration. The more the F-35 becomes a flying supercomputer, the more PTMS cooling limits become mission limits. Then we unpack the collaborative side of stealth, from passive detection to MADL networking and time difference of arrival math that can triangulate a radar and cue a focused AESA beam for a fast shot.Next comes the spicy part: TR3 and Block 4. The hardware leap is massive, but the software has been unstable enough to delay deliveries, force truncated builds, and keep upgraded jets in training roles. From there, we look at the hopeful path forward with Project Overwatch and cognitive electronic warfare, where onboard AI can recognize new signals, retrain quickly, and push updates back to the fleet, plus quantum-resistant encryption aimed at the next cyber fight. If you care about the future of electronic warfare, airpower modernization, and what your defense dollars are really buying, hit play, then subscribe, share the show, and leave a review. Donald Jackson has spent a lifetime in wild places--as a hunter, outdoorsman, US-Marine-turned-Peace-Corps volunteer, fisheries biologist, conservationist, writer. But this conversation cuts way-to-the-bone-deeper than biography. It's about memory, meaning, loss, conservation, faith, and the meaningful things the outdoors teaches us over a lifetime--if we're paying attention. Listening. An amazing storyteller, Jackson describes the people and experiences that shaped him, what science can and can't explain about the natural world, why certain moments outdoors never leave us, what remains after decades spent chasing wild things across changing landscapes--and maybe why any of it even matters in the first place.   Visit the Legendary Brands That Make MOJO's Duck Season Somewhere Podcast Possible: MOJO Outdoors  Alberta Professional Outfitters Society Benelli Shotguns Bow and Arrow Outdoors Create the X Habitat Management App Ducks Unlimited  Flash Back Decoys GetDucks.com Migra Ammunitions onX Maps  Use code GetDucks25 to save 25% Sitka Gear SoundGear Use code GetDucks20 to save 25% Tom Beckbe USHuntList.com   Like what you heard? Send us Fan MailDuring the 1980s, the United States was still struggling to come to grips with its involvement in the Vietnam War and as part of that effort, Hollywood churned out a number of movies with the conflict as its backdrop. For younger audiences especially, they provided an insight into what their fathers or older siblings may have experienced during their tours of duty in the jungles of southeast Asia. One of the most seminal pieces produced in this period was 1987's Full Metal Jacket directed by legendary director Stanley Kubrick. The film demonstrates the process of turning ordinary young men into weapons to be used in war and how that impacts them when they get to the battlefield. Thus, the movie starts in a US Marine boot camp and then transitions to the battlefield of Vietnam just as the Tet Offensive gets underway, the main characters fighting in the streets of a city called Hue. For countless young people at the time, this may have been the first time they would have heard of Hue or been made aware of the battle that was waged there but for the veterans who fought in its streets in early 1968, its name is as engrained on their memories as Iwo Jima or Inchon was to the generations that came prior. In this episode, we are going to look at the origins of the battle, chart some of the key events and discuss its aftermath. This is the story of the Battle of Hue. We want to introduce you to Yukon. This handsome guy would love to trade kennel life for the Yukon if he had the option! He is a Husky/Malamute mix (heavy on the malamute) who is 9 years young. Yukon came from Camp Pendleton-- yes, that Camp Pendleton! While he was not qualified for service as a US Marine, he lived on base. He was passed from family to family through the years that he spent there. He would be given a home, then the family would get transferred to a new base and would leave Yukon behind to be adopted out by a new family. Yukon went through approximately 9 families because of this sad cycle. He was then adopted by what truly seemed to be his fur-ever family. He had children and a dog sibling to share his home with. The children suffered from severe allergies and the parents were constantly on the hunt for the cause. After a full allergy screening, it was determined that the saliva from both dogs were the cause of the allergies the children were suffering from. The family then has to make the heartbreaking choice to rehome both of their dogs. The task of cramming allergy meds into a young child is a daunting task and we can understand that. The other dog was rehomed fairly quickly by the family. Yukon, however, wasn't as lucky. No one wanted a big, 'old dog'. Let's be correct. The right people didn't want an 'old dog'. Yukon is a gentle soul. He loves people and is wonderful with young children. His previous family has a three-year-old who would snuggle and lay with Yukon. He seemed to relish the moments with the children. He wasn't even bothered when the now nine-month-old child came along. Yukon is house trained, good with other dogs and children and UTD on his vaccinations. Yukon also knows basic commands such as "sit". He isn't troubled by the noise of the kennel. He looks at us so sweetly and quietly, and we know we need to get him back into a permanent home. Would you be willing to give him a cool floor to lie down on and a backyard for sniffing? Will you be the FINAL family and home he ever has to get used to? We want to get Yukon into his fur-EVER home more than anything as the heat of the season approaches. This lovable pup has paid his dues with age and shouldn't have to look for another family AGAIN, but here he is. He has never seen a cat so he isn't sure if he will tolerate them, but he is great with children, including the young ones. If you can find it in your heart to share a life with a soul as beautiful as Yukon's, please come meet him at our shelter, Van Buren County Animal Control. We are located at 58040 County Road 681, Hartford, MI. Our phone number is 269-621-4624. We don't think that you'll be disappointed by this guy!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Two-thirds of Americans are exhausted by a political narrative that doesn't match how they actually see the world. Jason Mangone has the data to prove it and a roadmap for what to do about it. Jason Mangone is the executive director of More in Common US, the American arm of a global organization founded after the assassination of British MP Jo Cox — whose maiden speech in Parliament included the line, “We have more in common than that which sets us apart.” Since launching its landmark Hidden Tribes study in 2018, More in Common has become one of the most cited voices on polarization, the perception gap, and what it will actually take to rebuild civic trust in America. Jason came to this work through a genuinely eclectic path: Marine infantry officer, Yale graduate student, co-author (with General Stanley McChrystal) of the bestselling Leaders: Myth and Reality, and yes, briefly the CEO of a Jersey Shore home maintenance company. He brings both the data and the disposition of someone who has learned to move across very different worlds — which, it turns out, is exactly what this moment requires. More in Common's Hidden Tribes research identified seven segments of the American public. The middle five — roughly two-thirds of the country — are what the research calls the exhausted majority. These are people whose politics don't map neatly onto partisan narratives, who hold genuinely heterodox views, and for whom the current political environment is actively draining. They're not disengaged because they don't care. They're disengaged because what they see on offer doesn't reflect how they actually think. The wings aren't just louder, they're more wrong about each other. A perception gap is the difference between what you think a group believes and what they actually believe. The research finds that the further left or right someone sits, the larger their perception gap. The heaviest news consumers also tend to have the biggest gaps — a finding that cuts against the assumption that more information produces more understanding. As a concrete example: 73% of Republicans said the US should be a world leader in developing clean energy. Democrats estimated that only 26% of Republicans held that view. Trump's coalition is not monolithic. More in Common's Beyond MAGA study identified four distinct segments within Trump voters: MAGA Hardliners (29%), Anti-Woke Conservatives (21%), Mainline Republicans (30%), and the Reluctant Right (20%). Support for the war with Iran breaks sharply along those lines — 87% among Hardliners, down to just 25% among the Reluctant Right. About a quarter of that last group now say they regret their 2024 vote. The priority gap may be the defining political story of 2025. In November 2024, Americans' perception of Trump's top priorities matched their own: cost of living, the economy, immigration. Today only 13% believe cost of living is his top priority. Nearly half point to immigration, and nearly half to the war in Iran. Jason is careful to stay nonpartisan, but the implication is clear: the exhausted majority that gave Trump his margin may not feel seen by what's followed. Institutions are where character gets formed — and they're disappearing. Jason identifies three drivers of polarization: smartphones and the attention economy, the erosion of intermediary institutions (churches, little leagues, volunteer fire departments), and elite rhetoric that rewards conflict over compromise. The second one gets less attention than it deserves. These weren't just places where people got along — they were places where people learned what kind of person they wanted to be. Being religious might be the new rebellion. Hidden Tribes 2.0 is in progress, and one of the most intriguing signals from More in Common's recent work involves generational attitudes toward faith. Among younger voters — Trump voters and non-Trump voters alike — being religious is now more likely to be seen as countercultural than being an atheist. Jason's read: when the dominant culture trends progressive and secular, traditionalism becomes the counterculture. It's not all that surprising. Countercultures, by definition, push against whatever's dominant. About Our Guest Jason Mangone is the executive director of More in Common US. He began his career as a US Marine infantry officer, serving three deployments including western Iraq and Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. After graduate school at Yale, he served as a research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations, co-authored the bestselling Leaders: Myth and Reality with General Stanley McChrystal and Jeff Eggers, and served as COO of the Service Year Alliance. Donald Trump's still threatening to completely destroy Iran as his revised deadline for a deal inches closer. The President's demanding Tehran lift its blockade on traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz by tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, he says, US forces will blow up all of the country's bridges and power infrastructure within four hours. Former Marine Gil Barndollar told Mike Hosking it doesn't look like hostilities will ease any time soon. He says Iran has rejected a ceasefire proposal, as it wants guarantees it's not going to be attacked again. Barndollar says the country has no trust in Trump and the US. Could US amphibious troops re-open the Strait of Hormuz? In his first major speech on the Iran war, Donald Trump said America is on course to finish its military campaign in the next three weeks. But to do so, he will have to find solutions to both the Strait, and Iran's remaining stockpile of enriched uranium. To discuss, Roland Oliphant is joined from Saudi Arabia by Andrew Milburn, a former US Marine Corps colonel and ex-deputy Commander of Special Operations Command Central (CENTCOM), the headquarters responsible for all American special operations in the Middle East.He explains what operations the Marines could undertake in the Strait, why a potential plan to seize Iran's uranium is do-able but dangerous, and why some in the Gulf are worried there could be a premature ceasefire. Kilian lebt in Charlottesville, Virginia. While the world focuses on Trump and Iran, Israel is quietly fighting a multi-front war across the Middle East. Tara explains how Israeli operations against Hezbollah, Iranian proxies, and nuclear scientists are preventing a regional explosion—and why their actions are allowing the U.S. to focus on dismantling Iran's core military and energy infrastructure. From intelligence operations to potential U.S. Marines securing Carg Island, this episode breaks down the real strategy unfolding behind the headlines and why this moment could reshape global power, energy markets, and America's role as the world's dominant superpower. SUMMARY In today's episode, Tara highlights the crucial role Israel is playing in the broader conflict with Iran—an effort largely overlooked in media coverage. As U.S. forces strike Iranian infrastructure, Israel is simultaneously engaging Iranian proxies across the region, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and other militant groups funded by Tehran. Tara explains that without Israel absorbing much of the proxy conflict, the United States could already be fighting wars across multiple countries. Israeli intelligence operations, powered by the renowned Mossad network, have targeted Iranian nuclear scientists, military leaders, and regime operatives while drones hunt down regime shock troops block by block. Meanwhile, attention is turning to the strategic objective of Carg Island, the hub of Iran's oil export infrastructure. Military analysts suggest a limited deployment of 300–500 U.S. Marines could secure the island—effectively collapsing Iran's economic lifeline by cutting off most of its oil exports. Tara warns that while the U.S. and its allies cannot lose militarily, the greatest threat is the court of public opinion. Any American casualties could become a political flashpoint exploited by critics to halt operations before the regime is fully dismantled. Finally, she explores the global implications: weakening China's access to discounted Iranian oil, shifting alliances in the Middle East, pressure on Russia and Europe, unrest in authoritarian states like Cuba and Venezuela, and a potential turning point that could restore America as the undisputed global superpower. KEY TALKING POINTS Israel fighting Iran's proxy forces across multiple countries Hezbollah strikes and potential Israeli ground operations in Lebanon Mossad intelligence enabling targeted strikes on Iranian leadership Iranian nuclear scientists eliminated to prevent proliferation Drone warfare targeting regime shock troops inside Iran Strategic importance of Carg Island to Iran's oil exports Possible deployment of 300–500 U.S. Marines to secure the island Economic collapse risk for Iran if oil distribution is cut off China's weakening influence and internal political purges Global ripple effects: Middle East alliances, Russia, NATO, and energy markets SOCIAL MEDIA BLURB While the world watches Iran, Israel is fighting the war nobody's talking about.

From international oil deals to Democrats' alignment with Iran and media misinformation, this episode exposes the stakes for America, allies, and global markets. SUMMARY In this episode, Tara unpacks Trump's message to NATO allies: help escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz—or face consequences. She explains why the U.S. no longer depends heavily on Middle Eastern oil, how new domestic refineries will make energy cheaper, and why most “dumb” policy decisions strangely benefit China. Tara highlights the geopolitical calculus: Trump is calling out specific allies like China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the UK, while leaving oil-dependent Asian countries out to facilitate energy deals. She explains how controlling Hormuz allows the U.S. to secure dollar-based oil pricing and prevent China's shadow fleet from dominating trade. The podcast also debunks media narratives that Trump had no plan for Hormuz, showing his decades-long strategy and pre-existing military preparations, including missile strikes on Carg Island. Tara emphasizes the risks for U.S. Marines tasked with securing the island, noting how Democrats and media might exploit casualties to weaken the U.S. position. Finally, she explores the energy and economic impacts, comparing current gas prices with Biden-era highs, and highlights how Democrats' political strategy aligns with Iran's interests, while Trump strengthens America's energy independence and geopolitical leverage. KEY TALKING POINTS Trump warns NATO: show up for Hormuz or face consequences U.S. already militarily and economically decimated Iran New Texas refinery to refine light sweet crude, cutting dependence on foreign oil Allies' inaction exposes weakness of NATO and UN commitments Strategic oil deals with India, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines Importance of controlling the Strait of Hormuz for dollar-denominated oil trade Operation Epic Fury: Carg Island strikes, securing military and oil infrastructure Democrats' messaging aligns with Iran's interests; media spreads misinformation Gas prices and energy independence explained SOCIAL MEDIA BLURB Trump calls out NATO & Iran allies over Hormuz!

This vessel was actually serving the Iranian oil industry, and was on the US sanctions list, so the Iranians appear to have targeted one of their own ships, possibly so that the Americans couldn't make use of it.Significant strikes have been reported at the Jebel Ali petroleum terminals in Dubai, and satellite imagery of Ali Al Salem Airbase in Kuwait has confirmed that the base fuel point was hit, with the fuel bladders/blivets at this location burning overnight. All total, drone and missile attacks have remained constant throughout the day and night, with the various Interior and Defense Ministries of the following nations providing data on how many interceptions have been conducted overnight:Qatar: 65 ballistic missiles and 12 drones intercepted. Bahrain: 45 missiles and 9 drones intercepted. Jordan: 49 missiles and drones (combined figure), 13 of which were intercepted. Israel: Over 200 missiles and drones intercepted U.A.E. - 137 missiles and 209 drones detected, 195 of which were intercepted successfully. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have acknowledged strikes targeting their countries, however neither have confirmed how many drones/missiles have been intercepted.Analyst Comment: Note that these figures only encapsulate the munitions that were successfully intercepted and shot down; most countries don't want to publish the data of how many drones actually made it through their defenses, so the figure for how many strikes have been conducted so far is hard to discern. This time around all belligerents are exercising good operational security, so details of strikes are often hard to find via social media. This is most sharply demonstrated in Israel, where hundreds of strikes are occurring, but difficult to pinpoint on a map due to the exact location of strikes rarely being reported.Pakistan: Overnight, riots broke out at the US Consulate General in Karachi, which rapidly transitioned into an attempt to breach the American compound. After some time, rioters breached the outer security cordon, and US Marines which had taken up defensive positions inside the facility opened fire on the intruders before they could breach the secondary line of security around the perimeter.Analyst Comment: Details are extremely hard to verify, however local sources claim that a total of 9x Pakistani rioters were killed during the engagements so far, and the Marines have successfully held the Key Terrain around the Consulate for the past few hours. However tensions are rising, and if the videos of the riots are any indication, Pakistan is not up to the task of defending the American compound, as rioters were allowed to breach, destroy, and set the outer cordon of the American diplomatic post on fire, with no Pakistani security anyw
