The joy and power of giving helps us in so many ways. Lynda Dyer, global humanitarian, shares her personal story and charitable services over the past 15 years in China, Africa and Vietnam. One incident was in May 2008 during a massive earthquake that displaced millions of people in Shanghai, China. She will share challenges, how obstacles became possibilities, and how her work inspired a new generation of people. Lynda Dyer is a Certified Neuro Linguistic Programming Trainer and Master Trainer of Matrix Therapies. In Shanghai, China to train coaches in (NLP) Certified Practitioner Certificate, while staying with the organiser of the trainings, Miss Hong Pan from Hong Pan Consulting, they decided the information would be great for China. Lynda arrived in Shanghai, China on May 12, 2008, only a few hours after the earthquake. Lynda's mission and purpose became part of the recovery process, and how to put her training into effect to help people who were traumatized by so much loss. Highlights of her experience is captured in Good Grief - China Earthquake Story by Lynda Dyer and Hong Pan, with the following excerpt: Sadness or grief takes a whole new meaning when we reflect back on the life of a person or animal we love. Good Grief was written with the purpose to allow others to grieve and celebrate the life of those people and animals we lose along our path through life. Lynda's other humanitarian work in Uganda Africa is in her book, You Can Make It Happen Now... Making Life Happen once you know how. This book was written to inspire people to live their best life by focusing on what they can do rather than what they can't. Lynda wrote her last chapter while working as a volunteer in Uganda. More recently she worked with a Volunteer group, a Monk and his family providing a large variety of charitable tasks including cataract surgery for over 200 people, giving out bags of food to thousands of people in poor areas, building houses and wells and looking after orphanages and schools to achieve their best service. She will share basic tools and strategies on how to live a conscious and empowered life, thrive in challenging times and assist others to live a more joyful life.

Psalm 87:1-7 - "O City of God"

“His foundation is in the holy mountains. The LORD loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah   Psalm 87 is primarily about the city of Jerusalem. As a pastor I have had the privilege of traveling to many places in the world over the years. My first trip overseas was to Japan in 1976. In my early years, I also went to the Philippines ten times. I've been to India so many times that I have lost count. I've made numerous trips to Europe, Russia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and England. I've visited China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Uganda Africa, Haiti, and Guatemala in Central America. But my most favorite place to visit in all the world is the city of Jerusalem, “The City of God”!  I have been there on at least thirty occasions.   Psalm 87 was probably written in the time of King Hezekiah, after the Assyrian army had been defeated and Babylon was on the rise (Isaiah 36-39). Following this great victory, the neighboring nations, usually hostile to the Jews, honored Hezekiah and brought gifts to him as well as sacrifices to the Lord (2 Chronicles 32:23). The inscription tells us that it was a Psalm of the sons of Korah. They were the worship leaders of Israel who led in praise and song. You can imagine after the Assyrian army had been destroyed by one angel in one night that the people celebrated with song, praise and dancing! God had protected His Holy City!   Jerusalem is very much in the news these days. It always has been. It is the most important city on earth. Not Washington or London, Paris or Peking, Moscow or Rome, but Jerusalem is this world's true center. God has said of Jerusalem that He has set it in the midst of the nations (Ezekiel 5:5). And this is so. Draw a circle on a map with Jerusalem as its center and with a radius of about nine hundred miles; it will take in almost the entire Middle East. Within that circle will lie Athens, Istanbul, Antioch, Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, Alexandria, Cairo, and Mecca. Much of modern civilization is the offshoot of what happened within the compass of that circle, and Jerusalem is at its heart.   The primary appeal of Psalm 87 has to do with the national life of Israel in historic times. It celebrates the national pride of the native-born Hebrew in the impressive capital city which crowned the hills of Judah. It was written to sing the praises of Jerusalem in the days of the kings. Psalm 87 also has a prophetic aspect. It can be taken as a prophetic commentary on David's statement in the previous psalm: "All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and worship before Thee, O LORD; and shall glorify Thy name." It is also a millennial psalm anticipating the day when Jesus will reign and Jerusalem, trodden down of the Gentiles since the days of Nebuchadnezzar, will at last be the world's capital city.   But there is also a personal application, for, in type and shadow, we come in. In Jerusalem was not only the temple of the true God, but also the throne of David, and it would be the Davidic line that would give us the Savior, Jesus Christ. It was outside the gates of the City of Jerusalem that Jesus was crucified for our sins. It was where He resurrected from the grave on the third day! It is the birthplace of His church. What a privilege and honor it was for a Jew to say that they were “born in Jerusalem” (vv. 4-6).   My friend, because of what happened in Jerusalem two-thousand years ago, if we have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can now say, “I have been born again! I have a new life. I have been forgiven! And I will live forever in the heavenly Jerusalem!”   God bless!

Hello we welcome you to Reaching Out Radio International, we are a ministry with a heart for Jesus. Our hope is for us to reach every corner of every nation with Gospel of Jesus Christ! We thank you for taking time to listen to our programs, we hope they bless you and draw you closer to Christ.  Pastor Brian welcomes back Pastor Bill Crenshaw to share about his recent ministry work to Uganda Africa, Wow, is all I can say about my Uganda trip earlier this month. This would be my first time teaching and proclaiming the "Kingdom of God".  Honestly, although growing up in church, I knew very little about the kingdom even though it is a major topic / theme of Jesus.  When the kingdom came near, the situation always changed. Sickness turned to health, demons fled. I am learning the kingdom "does that". In Uganda, I proclaimed the "Good News" and  Praise the Lord,  60 people accepted Jesus. It is not about me at all. The power to take a soul from darkness into the light of the kingdom is entirely in the message itself. The power is not in the preacher or pastor but is only in the Good News itself. Additionally, we had a few healing services and God confirmed his gospel message with a miracle in a woman who had been lame in her leg for 12 years. God helped her on the spot. Excited to share more !

Our episode 14 guest proves that music is truly a universal language. Sadam Seguya zooms in to M&B and gives us the insights on traditional African music, instruments and dancing. Sadam is a grateful and inspirational 21 year old Ugandan citizen that has dedicated his life to keeping the music, instruments and dancing from his ancestors alive and giving his predecessors more that he was accustomed to. His aspirations of teaching the local children music and giving them the instruments and place to learn is a priority for Sadam. The local instruments he makes are from all natural resources in the area. He explains that when you remove a resource, you must plant a new one so future generations may benefit in the same way. Although there was a slight language barrier, his message is very powerful and inspirational. This for sure was not a genre that we ever thought that we would  be able to explore until fate hit M&B until we received a message from him admiring our mission to share the love of all types of music and  musicians (and beyond). Together we can uplift a whole generation of young girls in Africa! TO DONATE TO THE REUSABLE MENSTRUAL PAD TRAINIGN PROGRAM IN AFRICA, PLEASE CLICK: https://tinyurl.com/DonateYIET Remember It is every person's obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he or she takes out of it.” ~ Albert Einstein The target audience for this episode is EVERYONE Our guest for today is Charlyn Kirabo, a very lovely 22-year-old young lady from Uganda Africa. She is the founder of Kirabo Women Initiative, pursuing her bachelors in business and finance, and currently running the "She Needs A Pad Project (SNAP) which is aiming at training girls across the country on how to make reusable menstrual pads and also distribute reusable pads in schools and communities. I urge you to listen to her to the end – the issue we are talking about for the young girls of Africa is real and with a negative impact on a whole generation. TO DONATE PLEASE CLICK: https://tinyurl.com/DonateYIET These are Key reasons why you should donate and what impact your donations will have: 1. 1. Your donations will enable reusable menstrual pad training to all age groups starting from girls of 10 years old. In essence, we are teaching them to fish so they are never in menstrual poverty ever again. This is the only permanent solution to this problem. 2. Your donations will help end the awful phenomenon in certain parts of Uganda of Sex for Pads. As Charlyn said – girls are so embarrassed in school when they are menstruating and their clothes stain, that they rather give their bodies to older men who take advantage of this fact and give them a few thousand shillings in exchange for sex. The girls in turn use the money they get to buy menstrual pads. It breaks my heart to know that this is happening to so many young girls, our goal should be to get to a point that not a single girl feels the need to get money for pads in this manner. If this stops, so will HIV infections and early pregnancies. So let's put reusable menstrual pad in every young girl's hand. 3. Your donations will return self-esteem and self-development to the girls we train, because they will not skip school for a week per month nor will they drop out from school. Realistically you are not only helping these girls but also their generations to come. Please join me in our first step together towards universal transformation. We are all connected. Let's use this connectivity and uplift those who need it the most. Let's build our world the way we want to from the ground up. I will bring you the next episode of Sharing Life Lessons next Wednesday. Until then, 'be happy, be safe and be blessed'. Samson connected with me on Facebook, and we began messaging back and forth, and realized that we both knew of Far Reaching Ministries in Africa. My husband along with a friend and Pastor went to Africa back in 1999 to help Wes Bentley of Far Reaching Ministries begin a Bible College. I remember my husband trying to call me for my Birthday while he was in Uganda and we only had a very few minutes of scratchy connection. Samson and I planned an interview time, however the connection was very short, and his English is much better than my African which is completely non existent, however since Samson's accent is thick, I thought I would add the transcript and comments here. To introduce Samson to you, I'm sharing a short bit of the interview at a time. I'd also like to share some memories I have of what my husband shared with me about life in Uganda. It actually reminded me of what our trip to Mexico was like, the two seemed very similar. In Mexico as we drove to our Hotel for a wedding, one side of the highway expressed the less advantaged population, compared to the wealthy. What I remember m y husband sharing about Uganda is the traffic as they walked through the town. Picture New Yours City with no one obeying traffic signals or lights, or lanes. One of the comments about the traffic in Uganda was that the car came so close to them as they were walking on the side of the road that the rivet on their jeans was close enough to scratch the car! I don't live in New York, and it may be the same for all I know. For now, here is the first of the transcripts I will share of the short sound bites before I post the entire Podcast. “It is very rare to find a Church that has over one hundred Pastors, and even Ushers, they are less compared to musicians. So, Music moves a lot of people in the Church. They.Adopted.Two.Not.One. This episode gives me all the feels. Two years ago, I traveled to Uganda with Rachelle as her adoption doula (yes that is a thing). She and her husband Pete were already 1.5 years into the adoption. The Ugandan government changed the adoption laws weeks before they were to come home with their son. The next 2 years were some of the most difficult of their lives. They traveled back and forth to Uganda-one at a time-spending weeks with their son while leaving their other two toddlers behind. On my trip with Rachelle, I was able to be witness to the process of watching their daughter come to them. She was there all along, in every photo, next to their son's side. But because of the law changes and the long process, on that trip, they decided to also bring Priscilla home.  On a teacher and social worker's salary they were able to save and fundraise the almost $90,000USD it took to adopt these two gorgeous spunky babes.  In this episode, we walk you through the steps to take and that are required for international adoption. We will inspire you not to worry about the costs and the money will come. God is so good. Rachelle,  details exactly how difficult the road was, but how worth it all was when her family of 6 was reunited at the airport on adoption day 2018.  For more information on Kidron Valley Orphanage or donating to their non-profit JoPri please follow @jopriuganda or visit: www.jopri.org And, if you missed Landon Donovan's epic goal in the 2010 World Cup-you can relive it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI-BJPEsFEc BIRTH STORY PODCAST INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/birthstorypodcast BIRTH STORY PODCAST FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/birthstorypodcast LOOKING FOR A DOULA IN CHARLOTTE, NC? Darlene Haskins, Executive Director - Hand in Hand Water Safety Awarness Foundation This passion really began when I first started working as a lifeguard and swim instructor in high school. I went on to obtain my Early Childhood Education certificate, operated a large in-home preschool, and taught in a variety of facilities including, my favorite, a Montessori school. During this time, I continued to lifeguard and teach swimming at the YMCA. I was asked by several families if there were any ISR instructors in the area - it became apparent that there was a desire for something more than the mommy and me classes available. After researching ISR, I applied to become an instructor, was accepted in 2013, and trained in 2014. From there, I established Safe Swim NC, now one of the Triad's leading providers of swim lessons and safety training. Through ISR, I became increasingly educated on water safety and drowning statistics and have become a strong advocate for survival swim lessons and educating on the layers of drowning prevention. I soon recognized amongst the families I taught a need for safety training and swim lessons for parents and older siblings and obtained my American Red Cross Instructor Certification for Water Safety/Swim and CPR/First Aid/AED Adult and Pediatric. Wanting to further my efforts in our community and beyond, I launched the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Hand in Hand Water Safety Awareness Foundation, with the mission to equip all people with survival swimming skills and water safety best practices to prevent drowning-related accidents. What is ISR Infant Swim Resource. The Key word to this campaign working and creating God’s Vision is the word “VISIBILITY”. Mary and I had a special eye opening and wonderful time with Moses. Moses lives in Uganda Africa.  I feel God gave him a real heart and vision to help care, protect and guide orphan children. The biggest reason for his empathy and compassion toward orphans and on the street children is God reminds constantly, if not everyday, he was one of those kids and God gave him a huge heart to assist and support those less fortunate. Moses and his late-wife had this vision, it started with both of them, even to the point of them buying land together of the location. Moses’s vision is to create a facility that has many purposes. The first and main purpose is to have a home for these orphans, second is to have a hospital where they will be taken care of, and the third part is an education center, where the children can learn and be educated. God has put a huge and grand vision on his heart. Right now Moses takes care of 48 orphans and the need for his orphan support is getting bigger and bigger. I have known Moses for a while now and I have talked to him on Skype even seen where he lives and all the children he cares for. I really feel Moses and his  children are a cause worth fighting for. In 2017 a Facebook friend of his named Andrea Love, started a Go Fund Me page just to do that for Moses.  As you can hear in the interview (my prayer and wish, is that you tune into the archive or the live broadcast, listen to him speak and articulate his own vision, plans and heart) the highest financial goal, in order to have all the facility finished is $20,000 that would make the hospital, housing and schooling area. Below is a link to the Go Fund Me campaign going on right now, they are at the time of this post up to $2020 and the goal for this beginning phase if $5000. https://www.gofundme.com/400-miles-for-40-orphans There is a lot more in the interview, but this is the main cause and point, everything in theme is on this vision of helping children on the street. Lets look at it this way if everyone donated $1.00, it would take 20,000 people, to reach his goal.  Social media like Facebook and twitter, make this goal pretty achievable and possible. The most important thing, even if you can’t financially help this cause, share and post this forward, we don’t know who will really come forward that has the financial ability, but even if that person is out there, I would like to reiterate that as a team we can all make a difference for these kids. Like I said 20,000 at $1.00 at Go Fund Me campaign page would put him over his goal, so please help out this cause. https://www.gofundme.com/400-miles-for-40-orphans Moses has listened to God and has stepped out in faith even before the money is fully there and has started Phase 1 of building the foundation for this vision. We have social proof of pictures and videos of work being done, and the campaign is proof that other people believe in this vision please check out the page, and while you are there donate, anything toward the cause is loved and appreciated. As a team of believer’s in God’s vision of helping the less fortunate, we can get it done. https://www.gofundme.com/400-miles-for-40-orphans God Bless everyone and have a beautiful day Ken Townshend Hosts: Mary Phillips & Ken Townshend Show: Worship Cafe Inspirations Radio Show Radio Network: WCIR – Worship Cafe Inspirations Radio Network
