He has served in various public sector posts in Washington, D.C. As a political appointee in the administration of President George W. Bush, he served first in the Department of Treasury as a spokesperson for economic issues, and eventually became Senior Advisor for the Office of Tax Policy. In this week's episode, Sean shares his perspectives on where the insurance industry is headed and some of the upcoming climate and economic risks that could occur if we don't position ourselves correctly, and the importance of educating the public in matters of insurance and how it affects their everyday lives. Key Takeaways A bit about Sean and how he found himself in insurance. When Sean became exposed to the insurance industry, it really opened his eyes as to how it impacts and benefits so many people's lives. How does III help educate the public about insurance in simple language? Sean shares how III helps companies identify risk. What do we need to know about climate risk? As more and more people move into harm's way (for example relocating to a state that's prone to natural disasters), it's important that III thinks of ways to bring more awareness of these risks to the general public. How can we better brace ourselves for economic risk? Sean shares his hopes for the future and where the future of this industry is headed. People know that innovation and disruption are the way forward. As new emerging risks happen, we need to have better standardization processes in place. What does Sean wish he'd learned sooner about the insurance industry? Keep Getting Better iii.org Sean on LinkedIn Quotes “Value is a moving target, so you need to be moving with it. Consumers want to understand how they can be more resilient to the risks and the changes that are happening in our climate today.” “Close to five years ago, there was a big discussion whether or not innovation was a threat or opportunity. I think people really dug in. All industries are in line with digital innovation.” “One of the problems we're facing today as a society is over 50% of IT costs are going towards legacy systems.”
This week’s entrepreneur is a Technical Producer, Creative Producer, and Filmmaker. He is the Founder of SFG Productions, and they focus on live events, broadcasts, virtual conferences, and so much more. Let’s dive into Sean’s entrepreneurial story! Sean was forced to become an entrepreneur. This was definitely not on his radar when he was a kid. Sean was slowly freelancing here and there, and eventually, his clients said that they needed him to be a company. As a freelancer, he had a hard time saying no, and the number of clients coming through his door made him realize he had to hire and scale or else he’d be losing some great opportunities. Sean’s lucky break happened when he got a production gig for TED Talks. At the time, it was not nearly as big as it was before, but he took on the challenge and it led to fantastic press for his company. The video production on the TED Talk stages was much better quality than any “standard” conference at the time. When Sean joined EO, it was like a curtain being pulled back and he saw how much knowledge he was missing out on to successfully grow his business. It took him roughly two years to be in the program before he hit his first million in sales, and it’s just been a blessing of a resource. We welcome Sean Cribbin and the entire film crew of the highly anticipated, award winning documentary "WAS I NEXT?" from Toronto Canada, produced by iCogitate Productions. Sean starts the show by telling us details of his date with the most notorious serial killer in Canada of all times Bruce Mc Arthur. All evidence points towards Sean being the next victim and the terrifying revelations of what McArthur was planning for him, that was discovered after he was arrested. It all started with Sean communicating with McArthur over dating apps for 3 years. He groomed him for that long.Everyone knew there was a serial killer in the gay village neighborhood - 8 men had gone missing.Sean tells us that McArthur had been married with 2 children before he was outed as gay. He was a landscaper and a Mall Santa, who also did community service. There was no reasonfor Sean to be alarmed. Sean got in Bruce's car for their first date and Sean did not get any weird feelings at all. He even made some jokes about there being a serial killer on the loose. Sean talks in detail about going to Bruce's 19th floor corner unit apartment and about him taking the drug GHB that he likes to use when engaging in sexual relations and when done in proper doses relaxes him and heightens his senses but if given too much can make you unconscious. This is precisely what happened as Sean later learns. Bruce had mixed too much of the drug in his drink. By a lucky coincidence Bruce McArthur's roommate came home early totally unexpected and that stopped what was going to be Sean's murder by the hands of Bruce. This saved his life. The details Sean gives give you chills. At the time he had no idea. We talk about the day when Bruce McArthur got arrested and caught with the murder of 8 victims. When Sean was speaking to an investigator to give information she told him that there were photos of him on Bruce's computer. The same staged photos as he had taken of his other victims. Photos of him handcuffed to the bed, a hood over his head, his eyes duck taped and the murder weapon, a pipe pushed up against his throat. The investigator got teary and told Sean she was glad he was here. A PHD in criminology labeled Bruce a sexual sadist. We talk about Bruce dismembering the bodies and hiding them in planters. When the forensic pathologist peeled the planters back she found a head, arms and legs.Sean says that was a very hard day for him, because that would have been his final resting place and the reality of it hit him very hard. Bruce McArthur is in prison, not eligible for parole until he is 91 years old. He lived a double life, a cunning, manipulative lying murderer. The only time he has spoken since his arrest was he said GUILTY 8 times in court. The belief is that there are way more victims. Sean tells us about the moment he went to court to face Bruce and sitting with all the victims families and how he felt horribly guilty and has since struggled with survivors guilt. He is writing a book which is very difficult emotionally and he is on the very last chapter and we cannot wait for it's release. Sean says that speaking about his experience and making the documentary has been extremely important for his healing. Every time he speaks it gets easier. It is a miracle he is alive and we think he is so beyond brave to share his story. At this moment the documentary is awaiting an official release date but so far has won over 50 awards worldwide from different film festivals. Stay tuned for part 2 of this story where we hear from the executive producers Tami Rydall, Craig Huckerbee, producer Bill Greer and musical director Steve Sauder all together with Sean Cribbin - you don't want to miss it
I had the pleasure this week of speaking to audiobook narrator Sean Rhead, who recently narrated the audiobook edition of my thriller, Beautiful Corpse. Sean has been in the narration business for the past two years, and currently has over 20 titles available for download on Audible. His favorite genres to narrate are fantasy and mystery, but there is no genre he wouldn’t like to take on. When Sean is not narrating, he spends his time teaching music to the younger generation, singing musical theatre songs, and duetting sea shanties on TikTok. He is also a proud ally of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.

Thriving in the Midst of Chaos: Parenting With Special Needs Kids
Episode 76: Live Like Sean With Guest TJ Nelligan In this episode, we discuss living like Sean; living your best life. When Sean was young, he was diagnosed with an intellectual disability. Guest TJ Nelligan initially began mourning the child he thought he was going to have. After that, life got busy managing doctor appointments, medications, and therapy appointments. A friend later told him about Special Olympics. TJ and Sean went to check it out and loved it. They and their entire family quickly became involved in the organization. Through raising Sean, TJ learned lots of lessons. The first was to advocate for your child by heavily researching and visiting schools to find the right fit for your child and then get involved in that school. Will this school meet the needs of your child and maximize their ability through the school’s resources? When an issue arose, TJ never backed down. Another lesson is be present. Sean always lived in the moment, which made everyone he met feel special and seen. By being present, Sean made lots of friends and enjoyed every moment of his life. It also led him to some really exciting experiences that wouldn’t have occurred had he not lived in the moment. Gratitude is another lesson. Sean only focused on his strengths, which led him to be a grateful person. Tying that with being in the moment, he woke up every day with a great outlook and enjoyed every day. Over time, this led TJ to see Sean’s strengths, rather than deficits. Sean taught TJ to be happy. Find your passion and it will bring you happiness. You can make your own happiness by being in the moment. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. Ignore the destination and work on the journey. To stay in the moment, TJ now focuses only on what he can accomplish that day. Allow your child to inspire you. For TJ, that was in part from the Special Olympics. He found that that organization and unified sports really helped. These led to so much more kindness. TJ found it important to include TJ and everything. Make sure the children have time around their peers and spend time in the community. Help your child find their passion. Today’s episode of Success Road features Sean Rosensteel. Sean is an entrepreneur, speaker and the author of https://www.seanrosensteel.com/ (The School Of Intentional Living). This episode focuses on the importance of priorities, boundaries, structure and more. Sean’s Personal Story Sean says that he grew up with a very conventional idea of success. He believed that success was tied to big homes, fast cars, and fancy toys. That was his focus throughout my teenage years. And for most of my twenties and I pursued that conventional definition of success in a negligent way. It led to his bankruptcy, which happened when he was 28 years old, just one month before his wedding. That was a real wake up call because for the first time he took a little inventory and recognized how unintentionally he had been living. He realized that his financial bankruptcy was actually the least of my concerns. Sean says that he was physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and relationally bankrupt. Sean realized that he needed to start living intentionally as he was about to get married. He had to make some serious changes in his life. The Most Important ThingMany people don't know what they want in life. Sean mentioned that he did some little research on the word priorities. The word is actually singular. The word is priority, not priorities. In the 1960s, people started using that as the plural term priorities. But the idea behind the word priority was a singular focus. To know what it is that we want, we have to set some boundaries and understand the frameworks that work in our life. Sean started to give himself letter grades in the different areas of his life. The letter grades serve as a reminder. Instead of viewing something as 7/10, it is a C. If one part of your life has a D, it is clear that area needs improvement. Moving Past RoadblocksSean says that his father taught me that complexity is the enemy of success, and he fully bought into that concept. In Sean’s book he talks about lockers. In school, that's that place students place their things. In the real world, lockers could be as simple as a filing cabinet. Inside there could be folders or tabs used to dedicate as space to the areas of life that matter. But a locker doesn’t hold everything that you need. Sean uses a backpack. He stores his laptop, the book he’s reading, a tablet, water, snacks, and chargers in his backpack. But he takes this concept even further with the work he does on his computer. He considers his phone and project management app to serve as a digital backpack of sorts. Freedom Through StructureSean shares that the main struggle we all face is one of distraction. And when you have structure in your life, you can best handle distraction. When Sean structured out his calendar and scheduled out his priorities, he found freedom. For example, he schedules family time. Every day, from Monday through Friday from about 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM is uninterrupted family time. He is with his family physically and mentally. His phone goes on do not disturb mode. It is essential to create an environment that supports your success. Sean expands more on these concepts and shares some practical ways to detail with distraction and also manage your expectations. I highly recommend you listen to the full episode for more details. In addition, you can pick up Sean’s book, https://www.amazon.com/School-Intentional-Living-Real-World-Approach-ebook/dp/B089LJ8PK4 (The School Of Intentional Living) on Amazon or on his phttps://www.seanrosensteel.com/ (ersonal website). Thanks so much for listening to Success Road, and special thanks to Sean for being a guest.

“In every single way, my sobriety has become a blessing for me.” -Sean, Rock Recovery Center I have a guest today, Sean, who is from Long Island, New York. He came to our recovery center eight years ago for thirty days and decided to become a resident of Florida. We talk about Sean’s stage character, how he dropped his walls, and his process of recovery. Two days before he came to Rock Recovery Center, Sean remembers “almost drinking myself to death. Everything was dark in my life. I didn’t see a way out, and 99% of my thinking had to involve some sort of alcohol. I was losing my health, my wife and children, borderline diabetes with more than 120 pounds extra weight.” He was Baker Acted after police came to his house because they received a call and thought he was going to hurt himself. When he returned from the hospital, he talked with his wife. In this conversation, he was yelling at her, then had a moment of clarity. The next day, he told his wife he needed help. Although he realized he needed help, he was adamant about not participating in a 12 Step Program as he didn’t think it would work for him. When Sean landed in Florida for his first day of recovery, he felt he would erase over two decades of drinking in 29 days. In his first AA meeting, he didn’t let any of the conversations in his head. He was 100% sure that this program wouldn’t work for him. He created a calendar with 29 days to cross off until he went home. At the time he had six “x” marks on his calendar, he understood the fellowship of AA. “The lower your bottom, the higher your hope.” He heard others who had much worse situations with addiction tell their stories of hope. “They were talking about how wonderful and amazing their lives were. If they could do it, I could do it! That little mustard seed of hope, that little bit of open-mindedness cracked open. Once it cracked open, it was off to the races.” Listen in to find out how Sean realized he had a problem with alcohol, why he owes a debt of gratitude to the friend who told his wife details about his alcoholism, and why he thought he could “think his way through this” because of his education as a health coach. Learn how Sean views his recovery process today, how he came to the realization that he had to let the program process “in,” and why prayer has made a significant difference in his life. Gina from Everett has called in for advice about her boyfriend Sean. Gina says Sean suddenly shaved off his beard and now he looks completely different. They’ve been together for quite a while and she had never seen him without his beard. She says she knows it’s just a simple cosmetic change but she can’t help herself – she sees him differently now; she wanted a rugged outdoorsy mountain man, and now he’s just a regular guy. But most of all she wishes he had consulted her. When Sean comes on he says he is not sure why she Gina is so upset – he is still the same guy, he still does the outdoorsy stuff, but he just got tired of dealing with the beard. He hadn’t seen his own face since he was a teenager and was curious what it looked like, but now that it’s done he’s enjoying not having to do the work to maintain his facial hair so he probably won’t grow it back, at least not for a while. He says he was actually getting eczema and he feels much better now. As far as not telling her, he thought it would be a new sexy surprise and didn’t think he needed her permission. As usual Fitz thinks the sudden change means Sean is cheating, and the P1’s agree, until Gina shows her ugly, superficial side.
Leanne and Toby go out on a date while Sean and Dorothy attend a TV awards dinner while Julian is left alone with Jericho. Once Julian shockingly finds the reborn doll in place of the baby, he is met with a surprise visit from his father, who has a plan of his own to swap out the doll for a real baby as he is completely unaware of the child that has been in the Turner home for quite some time now. Upon Leanne’s return, Julian confronts her about the missing baby and has a breakdown in search of answers. When Sean and Dorothy return home, baby Jericho is back in his crib, and Julian is much calmer after confiding in Leanne about what actually happened to the real Jericho. This leaves Sean unhappy, and Leanne behaves strangely when talking to Dorothy about her night with Toby. edit+xClone Element Hosts Brandon Hanna (@brandonhanna07) and James Maple (@terrelljamesmaple) break down Servant: Season 1 - Episode 8 “Boba.” Join them as they discuss Leanne and Toby’s date, Jericho’s grandfather making a surprise visit, and Julian’s meltdown. Sean Douglas is a prolific public speaker, TedX speaker, International Radio Show Host, Author, and a Resilience Coach. He is also active in the United States Air Force. It’s fair to say that Sean has a lot on the go. This episode is going to resonate with Veterans, members of the military, as well as their family and friends. When Sean speaks you can feel his intensity and I believe his underlying anger. He has a strong emotional connection with his message, which is based upon his own experiences and friendships. Sean makes no attempt to “sanitize” his story. He openly speaks about his love hate relationship with the military, the impact that alcohol had on him, and how he used to put people down to build himself up. He also talks about a specific Christmas Eve when he put a gun in his mouth and came ever so close to ending his life. He shares how his becoming a drill instructor changed his life, and chilled me when he provided statistics about the average life expectancy of a veteran that retires after 20 years service. The number will shock you. Sean is fueled by the naysayers that tell him he cannot achieve his goals. He uses their negativity to drive himself forward. People throw around the word impact all the time. Sean Douglas is too busy making an impact to talk about it. When Sean was a kid, he found out he was adopted. That news created some conflict in him and challenged his identity. He began to rebel against his adopted parents, but some sage wisdom from his grandmother quickly set him straight. Sean returned to loving and appreciating the family he was a part of, but his desire to understand his identity never left. Older and married to his high school sweetheart, Sean’s family began to grow. He said that seeing his world in his oldest daughter’s eyes made him even more sensitive to his biological mother’s tough choice to let him go. After Sean finally mailed his introductory letter to his biological mother, which he had re-drafted several times over the years, he was finally able to reunite with her. He learned some of the ways that he’s just like his mother, and how one of his childhood sports heroes is actually his cousin! Hey, it’s Damon today. I have the pleasure of introducing you to Sean as a kid. When he found out he was adopted, he created some conflict in him and challenged his identity. But some sage wisdom from one of the elders in his family set him straight again so that he could return to loving and appreciating the family he was already a part of. When he got a little older, married his high school sweetheart and their family began to grow. So did his curiosity about his biological mother’s experience, giving birth to him and relinquishing him to adoption. You’ll hear Shawn talk about connecting to his mother brothers and how he feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to say thank you for the life he leads. Uh, well, you know, uh, it’s kind of a funny story. Well, at least I’m able to laugh now, but you know, this whole journey for me started in the first grade when I, uh, I’ve found out what adopted meant about a year prior that my, my parents told me that I was adopted. Shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday Sean Swarner came to Launchpad studios to meet with Jeff and Erik and speak about his journey beating the odds to become an incredible adventurer and inspiration to so many. With only one functioning lung, a prognosis of fourteen days to live, and being in a medically-induced coma for a year, Sean Swarner is the first cancer survivor to stand on top of Mt. Everest. Sean has broken through defined human limitation in order to redefine the way the world views success. Diagnosed with two deadly, different, and unrelated forms of cancer, once age thirteen and again at age sixteen. Sean astounded the medical community when he survived both. He realized that after defeating cancer twice, no challenge would ever be too great, no peak too high. He has since topped the “7-Summits”and skied both the South and the North Poles. He continues to test his own endurance and inspire and motivate people around the world with his message of hope. He founded the non-profit organization, The CancerClimber Association, and is now an author, speaker, and most recently the feature of the documentary: True North. The episode opens with Sean discussing his childhood. He talks about growing up in the Midwest with a rather typical upbringing, including engaging in sports like running cross country, soccer, and swimming. At age 13, a knee injury that led to complications the doctors ended up finding his first cancer-advanced stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was given 3 months to live. His treatment began immediately and this overtook everything in his life. “Our entire lives as a family was on hold.” Coming to terms with his diagnosis was also a challenge. As his hair fell out and he gained weight from the treatments, Sean was suddenly thrust into living a life completely unlike his friends and peers. Constantly in the hospital he was alone and scared. But he had to take stock of his situation: “I could either fight or die.” At age 15, while in remission, a second cancer was discovered - totally unrelated to the first. This one was even more rare and the prognosis was a 6% chance of survival. “The odds are winning the lottery four times in a row with the same numbers.” At that point it would have been easy for Sean to lose hope but he attributes his fighting spirit and the fact that he survived to a number of factors, including: “It was a combination of modern medicine, family support, prayer, and an inner will to not give up...to go one day at a time to make those days become a habit, instead of focusing on the negative.” “I wasn’t focused on not dying, I was focused on living.” This time around, according to his doctors, Sean had two weeks to live. Treatments included more chemo and a medically induced coma. But once he came out the other side he realized he had learned so much about himself and what drives him. Erik asks if he still feels fear or trauma based on his experiences and Sean responds that at least once a year when he goes in for a yearly check up he feels those sensations but realizes that worrying about it ultimately does not do any good. He makes the decision to think positively. For example, from his time as a cancer patient, Sean still uses the power of positive affirmations. Always believing today will be the best day ever for the mere fact that you are still alive. After his teen years, and recovering from two cancers, Sean headed to college. He changed his course a few times which he discusses. Realizing he wanted to help others touched by cancer - to provide them hope, he decides to climb Mt. Everest. He knew that if someone who had overcome cancer reached the top of the highest peak in the world it would be a huge beacon of hope for so many people around the world who were struggling with their own illnesses. So, with one functioning lung, Sean started training. He was living at sea level in Florida but despite his location and the doubts of almost everyone he knew, he poured his heart and soul into his effort. Nine months later he was at Everest basecamp, ready to make his way up the mountain. Sean treated every step along the way as a new PR (Personal Record) and felt blessed with each passing day. Jeff and Erik discuss the various physical difficulties they personally encountered on Everest and how Sean had similar experiences, but his were only amplified by having just one lung. Despite it all, Sean reached the summit on a beautiful day, surpassing everyone’s expectations. Erik and Jeff want to know how Sean builds this positive mindset; how he was able to channel his focus. Sean discusses the significance of having folks who are struggling with cancer cheering him on from all around the world. Cancer patients can't just take a day off. For Sean, that was the ultimate push forward. When Sean returned he was hoping his message would catch on in the media but he realized he had to do even more. He ended up doing the “Grand Slam” of adventures and then started visiting hospitals around the globe to meet patients with cancer. He formed relationships and kept in contact with so many folks to pass along his message of hope. Jeff continues to probe into Sean’s psyche. How does he live the way he does? How doesn’t he let his circumstances get him down? Sean talks about making “micro-changes” in his life and also always having gratitude. After all, it was his conditions that led to the trajectory of his career and have enabled him to help so many others. “So many people are fixated on what’s comfortable. Life begins outside your comfort zone but fear holds them back.” Sean put together a program that includes micro-changes that was created for cancer patients but is applicable to anyone. The changes help you tap into what is your value system and to stay true to that vision. The link is at the bottom of this show description. Sean now speaks to groups to spread his message of hope, has authored a book, is starring in a documentary, has created his 7 day (free!) program for cancer patients, and most importantly co-founded his non-profit: The Cancer Climber Association. Sean continues to advocate for others. Please check out his latest cause as part of The Cancer Climber Association in the links below. In this interview I speak with Sean McBride. Sean is a former Army Officer turned front end developer. When Sean was suddenly let go from the Army in 2008, he found himself in one of the wort job markets in recent history. Sean was forced to re-think his life plan and start from scratch. Sean discusses the steps he took to go from jobless and living with his parents to running the front end development side of Decipher Technology Studios. Sean says that the path to getting back on track took him about two years. In the process of figuring out his career, Sean moved to three different states, started and left a PhD program and married his wife. It was definitely an action packed couple of years. Ultimately Sean made his way into technology starting with sales engineering and consulting. He then started working on more and more technical aspects of the projects until that made up the majority of his work. If you have ever had to take an unexpected path or you wonder what that i
In this episode we listen to another mother’s journey with her son diagnosed with autism. From his initial diagnosis to trying multiple therapies we discuss the highs and lows of her journey. Through all the challenging times, her love, compassion, and motivation for wanting her son to succeed has never changed. Meet Jo Daley, a mother of a child with autism. Her positive outlook on life and her persistence to try new things are the driving force behind her motto, “No Labels, No Limits, No Boxes.” The word Autism is associated with many different stereotypes, in which Jo wants to encourage other parents to see outside of that label, set the limits high and get out of their box. IN THIS EPISODE: - Meet Jo Daley, her son Sean is diagnosed with autism. - Each parent that we have on the podcast will be different because when you meet one child with autism you meet one child. This is the same when meeting a parent or family with autism you meet one parent or family with autism. - What we love most about Jo is her positivity, even in moments of crisis. - In the years we have worked with Jo, we can’t remember when she has ever been negative. - Jo talks about her journey of realizing that Sean had “different” behaviors, which led her to the diagnosis of autism. - When she heard the word autism she cried and the thought that Sean was broken and she wanted to fix him ran through her mind. - She researched, she felt alone, she felt scared, and helpless. - There was no guidebook, no next steps. There was nothing. - Jo expressed that it felt like going down a rabbit hole of information and it gets even more confusing. - Jo started with the DAN Diet and sensory therapy first. - She said, “That didn’t’ help.” It was hard. Food was not as available and it was expensive. She would have to special order food. - After a year and a half she was done. Sean ate a pizza and it didn’t make a difference. - Jo was relieved and said for many kids the diet works, but for Sean’s body and chemical make up, it just didn’t make a difference. - She suggests that whatever you are trying to give it at least a year. Then you know in your heart it didn’t work. That goes for therapy or diets. - Jo talks about all the therapies she tried: vitamins, fish oils, sensory brushing, jumping, wearing a vest, art therapy, music therapy, OT, hippo therapy, but nothing really worked. - Jo’s mindset was that she was going to try everything and something would click. - She kept going and trying new things and nothing was working. - Jo felt defeated, she really didn’t know anything about autism. - It was hard and that was the beginning of Jo’s acceptance. - Jo had to learn how to accept autism, support Sean, and help him grow and get better because his autism wasn’t going away. - When Sean was 4-years old Jo started talking about autism. Before, Jo was in denial and didn’t want to talk about it or take him out. - The first couple of years she wanted to hide and cry and was in denial and wanted to make the autism go away. - Sean was very controlling, rigid, and had HUGE tantrums. - Therapists would try to get him to do stuff and then say, “Well, we are done for the day.” And hand Sean off to Jo while he was having a tantrum and Jo would struggle to put him in the car. - Felt that therapists wanted to work with more advanced kids. - Many therapists came said, “I can’t work with your Sean.” - Jo started ABA therapy. The reason she didn’t do it sooner was because everyone told her no ABA, never do it, and that that was not for Sean. - Not knowing, Jo avoided it, but it turns out it has been the best therapy for Sean. It has been the only therapy that has worked. - Parents want to be helpful, but sometimes what works for you may not be the case for someone else. - Parents listening have to be open to try everything because you don’t know what will work. - Also you have to trust your instincts and feel out the therapist because if you’re not connecting with your therapist, then that therapist is not connecting with your child. - Jo thinks it comes down to trying. Instead of don’t; focus on the dos. - In the world of professionals they think their method is the best method and they will talk down about other methods. We should be supportive of all therapies because we are all complex beings and need different approaches in life. - There’s already so much against us being in the autism community we need to come together and be supportive of each other and more positive. - Negativity and “don’ts” can be so limiting for someone. Yes not everything is for everyone but because the disorder is so complex, you have to be willing to try everything and give it a good shot. - And that takes a lot of investment. I want to stress the importance of investment to parents. - I always say to parents if you’re kids aren’t doing for you what they do for me then it’s a waste of time. - We have worked with Jo and she is committed. Sean would not be where he is today without her commitment and work. - Jo also expresses that amidst of everything her love for Sean doesn’t change. Jo stated, “My child is not the same, but the same love and compassion and motivation I have for him is the same.” - Today Sean is a different child. He is great. He has gone from screaming tantrums and physical behaviors to using more language. Be has become more flexible and a lot more calm. - Jo not only attributes Sean’s success to ABA, but focusing on the things that Sean can do. Her expectations have been set really high for him. - Before Sean was coming from a place of extreme fear. Now he is opening up and he wants to learn and loves to learn. He is really proud of himself. - Jo talks about her quote and what it means. When you first get that label you feel so limited. You think there is one experience and you think about all the stereotypes. - Don’t put a label on it because everyone is different. - In life when Jo tells someone, “I have a kid with autism.” You can see reaction and the stereotypes coming, or the wheels turning because maybe they know one kid or no one with autism. - No limits because Jo does not want to limit Sean. She has no idea what his future holds. She can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. She can see Sean having a job and living independently. But most of all she just wants him to enjoy his life. That’s the bottom line, be happy and enjoy your life… - No labels, no limits, no boxes is not treating Sean the way you would treat other children. - And for therapist too not to place kids in boxes. Thinking outside the box as therapist, you can have your same bag of tools but tailor it to fit the child’s needs. - Jo’s advice for parents is to stay calm, be patient, the love is still there, and try new things. MINDSHIFTS (takeaways) Stay calm Keep trying new things You love for your child doesn’t’ go away or change
Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. David Tennant is probably best known for playing Doctor Who for a number of years. A heroic if eccentric character, it was surprising to see him play the villain in season one of the television series Jessica Jones. With his remarkable performance it isn’t surprising that he may have been typecast as an antagonist going forward. And sure enough his latest film, Bad Samaritan, he does a turn as another psychopath far removed from his role as Doctor Who. Sean Falco and his friend Derek Sandoval run a scam. Both young men who seem to not know what to do with their lives, they valet cars at a fancy restaurant in Portland, Oregon where they then head over with the car and keys in hand to rob the empty houses. When Sean heads over to the house of eccentric millionaire Carl Erendreich, his robbery turns into something more when he discovers a woman tied and chained. Unable to free her, he decides to do something about it. Director Dean Devlin in his sophomore film presents us with a throwback thriller that would fit nicely with its similar brethren from the 1990’s. Though starring David Tennant, the supporting casts holds their own. Dark Discussions takes a look at this film and gives their opinions on the cast, the thrills, and whether the plot holds up to its daring set up. As always we welcome your comments: darkdiscussions@aol.com (written email or attached mp3 files) WWW.DARKDISCUSSIONS.COM

The LGBTQ population in every community deserves local access to medical and legal services – and a safe space to meet up. When Sean Coleman saw that the South Bronx was lacking, he cashed out his 401K and founded the non-profit Destination Tomorrow, an organization that serves LGBTQ youth 13 to 24 years of age, with a focus on the transgender community. When Sean established the agency in 2009, he was the sole employee. (Well, perhaps ‘volunteer’ is a more accurate term since he did without any income whatsoever for the first two years!) Despite a number of struggles – including the loss of his condo – Sean knew that Destination Tomorrow was his purpose, so he persevered. Today Sean serves as the Executive Director of a growing organization, leading a staff of eight salaried employees who served more than 300 individuals in 2016. I hear my own message over & over. [04:39] – What are some of the common insecurities that people have and how do you help people come out of that? [04:45] – All insecurities can be boiled down to one thing – the feeling that “you are not….enough”. Insecurity is something that you can’t get rid of but it’s something you have to stay ahead of. Study metaphors! I started 22 years ago. You got to put in the time and get the right coaches. I even studied hypnosis. [22:46] – Who in your life is important to you most? No one succeeds alone. People that have what I want and when I help them get more, they will pull me up too. People that want what I have. Teach people what you have mastered. 3 key points:- Don’t worry about success. Confidence is a by-product. Focus on value creation. When you create so much value, you have no choice but to get rich! Focus on becoming something rather than achieving, acquiring and doing something. Social media http://seanstephenson.com

Does it seem counterintuitive to you that by leaving money on the proverbial sales table you could actually increase your bottom line? While it may seem that way at first glance, today's guest shares how that is what has been happening in his business. On this episode of Grow My Revenue I'm joined by Sean Farrell of Quality Data Systems (QDS), and he explains how they've used integrity-based sales to exponentially grow their company. For a few years now QDS has focused more on their clients and the solutions those clients need, that has tripled QDS' bottom line. Listen in for real-life examples and how using an integrity-based approach to selling has created so much growth for QDS, and can for you too. Listen to this episode and discover: - Why doing the right thing now can lead to bigger deals in the future. - What is integrative sales really about? - How focusing on results generates better outcomes for them and their clients. - Will more questions equal a longer sales cycle? - How QDS tripled their bottom line without pursuing triple the amount of opportunities. - And so much more… Episode Overview Sean Farrell has been the CEO of Quality Data Systems for a few years now even though he never intended to go into the family business. QDS was a company his dad started in 1983, but it was his dad's work and not of interest to Sean. Sean had other ideas: he played collegiate baseball at the University North Carolina and was later drafted by the Oakland Athletics. When he tore up his shoulder diving for a ball in the outfield Sean went through several surgeries, none ever fixing it properly. Between the injury and the incredibly low pay of the minor leagues he opted to make some cash by going into sales. Soon he found his competitive nature taking over and discovered his love of sales. Landing a deal was just as sweet to him as hitting a home run! Thirteen years later he is still at QDS and loving the work he does there. When Sean's dad started the company and still today QDS sells and services money-handling equipment for banks, credit unions, and retail. Anyone who handles cash, coin or check can be served by a product or offering QDS has available. Over the years that has evolved from desktop products to integrative systems and solutions, that integration at Sean's behest. On this episode of Grow My Revenue, Sean and I take a snapshot look at what QDS was doing prior to the implementation of integrity-based sales, and what they've been doing since implementing this new way of doing business. Plus Sean gives a real-life example of integrity based sales and how he served his clients' needs with a much smaller monetary investment (even when he knew the client had a sizable budget for the solution). Sean explains that by focusing on how QDS solved similar problems for previous clients the company presents itself in a way that opens doors with potential new clients. QDS' approach now is simply they are there to solve the problems clients have and deliver the results the clients need. Price is rarely a key driver in those conversations today because it's all about the value and results QDS provides, and as a result it's actually helped QDS become more profitable. Another surprising share on this episode is Sean's real-life example of providing a very inexpensive solution to a client with a large budget - and how that won QDS a role as a trusted advisor to the client and led to more sales in the future. This is an episode you don't want to miss, especially if you've been considering implementing an integrity-based sales approach for your team.
