Career coach and host of the Your Career Story podcast, Jena Viviano is not only sharing how her career went from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to coaching 6 figure women in their careers, but why LinkedIn is a best kept secret. en on their corporate careers. Jena is going to change the way you not only look at, but the way you utilize LinkedIn and turn it into your favorite networking tool. She helps others discover what they love to do in their careers and how making quarter turns is sometimes all it takes to land your dream job, along with how gaining clarity is your best investment. You are going to discover the best LinkedIn tips and tools that will boost your business and your career!  It’s time to grow your network!  What we’re talking about Jena’s Career Story To Becoming A Career Coach How Entrepreneurs Should Use LinkedIn A Career Coach For Your Corporate Career Jena’s Career Story To Becoming A Career Coach Jena’s career story starts like a lot of ours with a college major that she later discovered wasn’t right for her. After working in investment banking on Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, Jena was given the opportunity to explore other positions, such as marketing, PR, and video recording from the live floor. By trying other tasks, she was able to discover what she was good at and what she enjoyed doing. Jena then went to work for the start-up company, TheMuse.com, a career advice site and discover even more job opportunities. By taking these “quarter turns” in her career, Jena was able to find clarity in her career and became a career coach at the age of 25. She started out by helping people revamp their resumes and realized she was good at making career pivots and helping others make them.  How Entrepreneurs Should Use LinkedIn LinkedIn isn’t simply a job search platform and is one of the best kept social media and thought leadership tools out there! Jena shares how she realized her clientele were on LinkedIn, looking for her services, and how LinkedIn allows you to be a thought leader in your space while also accessing corporate partners. LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to physically connect with your ideal clients instead of simply creating content in the hopes of attracting them. Companies are hiring you and your brand which is why a personal profile versus a business profile is key.  If you’re an entrepreneur and recognize your ideal clients are on LinkedIn, then you should be posting at a minimum once week, but to aim for 1-2 times per day. Jena suggests creating posts with a call to action, story-telling content with teaching moments, community building posts that allow people to connect with one another, and quick tips. When you create great content that gains traction, it’ll show up not only in your feed, but in the feeds of those who comment and like your post as well.  Lastly, be sure to connect with others and write customized messages in your DMs. LinkedIn is NOT like Facebook in the sense that you aren’t trying to friend people. You are looking for network connections, so get out there and link in with your ideal clients! A Career Coach For Your Corporate Career Jena’s career coaching clients all encompass an entrepreneurial spirit and most are on a dual track process which incorporates their corporate job and a side hustle. The 3 things Jena helps her clients uncover are: 1) What is it you want?, 2) Where are you thriving, and 3) How do you take a quarter turn closer to that? She shares how side hustles allow us to not have pressure to perform at higher levels because they aren’t our sole income. Having a side hustle allows you to scale at a rapid pace when you decide to take it full time because you’ve already gained the clarity you need and know what you love to do and what you don’t. A career coach gives you a 30,000 foot view from an outside perspective to look at your career as a whole and discern where you’ve been. Clarity is one of the best returns on investment you can get! Carol Gavhane is co-founder of Asha Blooms, a handcrafted purposeful jewelry company dedicated to inspiring and uplifting people. Born out of her walk with secondary infertility, she and her husband created this business once it dawned on them that words and intentions really do matter. Each piece of jewelry is tied to a specific intention, and it’s their vision that others see themselves for who they already are – whole, loved, complete, courageous and renewed. Everything about their first child was fairly typical, but trying to add to the family afterwards was incredibly difficult. During those years, they tried everything under the sun to get or sustain pregnancy - clean eating, support groups, fertility yoga, acupuncture, meditation, negotiations with God, many visits to the fertility clinic, and so on. These services absolutely helped as they provided comfort or bits of positivity, but there were many dark days thrown in the mix. During this journey, Carol found a fertility bracelet that became a beacon of hope, a daily wearable reminder to continue on, which she did for nearly three years. Looking back, Carol credits science, hope, and intention with the creation of baby Henry. I had the opportunity to meet Carol a couple months ago through a colleague and our connection was instant and deep.  I relate to so much of her story.  I know a lot of other mamas out there are with Carol and me, as well. Listen in to hear Carol share: What secondary infertility is and how it flipped her life upside down for 3 years What infertility looks like on the outside vs. the inside of a woman's body and demeanor How she found hope and comfort in an unlikely place What inspired her to start a jewelry company and the special meaning behind her work Links Mentioned: Connect with Carol and see her gorgeous Asha Blooms jewelry Asha Blooms on Instagram Asha Blooms on Facebook Thank you to our sponsors: Stamps: Right now, my listeners get a special offer that includes a 4-week trial PLUS free postage AND a digital scale without any long-term commitment. "If I was going to [make it as an artist], I wanted to prove that I could do without any favors or any connections." When Sean Yoro became interested in becoming an artist, he couldn't think about anything else. Watching his teacher render models out of charcoal on a canvas was like magic, and he was ready to dedicate his life to this creative art. After he decided to move to New York and follow his dream of being a successful artist, he didn't realize until he arrived how naïve he was, and how difficult his journey would be. Sean Yoro, also known as "Hula", explores the limits of art and nature, and since his groundbreaking work painting on icebergs, has become synonymous with environmental awareness through art. Growing up in Hawaii, environmental preservation has always been a core value to Sean, and he has found a way to actualize this passion through his creativity and his projects. His most recent project has found him on an over year-long journey, learning to freedive so he can paint a huge underwater mural. Sean shares his story of a young artist with a dream, and shows that he is an artist of discipline, integrity, and passion. Listen in to learn Sean's rocky path as a young artist in New York, his unique and demanding projects, and how he prepares for them. You can Subscribe and Listen to the Podcast on Apple Podcasts.     What could happen in our lives if we stopped waiting for happiness to come to us, and started finding it within ourselves? I have a tendency, when I'm caught up in the swirl, to place my happiness in the future- when the event happens, when the book launches, when the program begins… What I've come to realize over time, though, is that happiness is not at some finish line- it's in the moments, the steps and the breaths it takes to get there. This week's Focus Friday is all about creating our happiness in the NOW, because, truthfully friends, that is the only place it can ever possibly exist. In this episode: What I discovered about my own expectations around happiness [ 1:30 ] Why living in the present moment brings us joy [ 6:35 ] The only time in our lives that we have any influence + control [ 12:55 ] What happens when we don't honor our own needs [ 15:45 ] Soul Shifting Quotes: “When we are operating from a place of needing external circumstances to be ‘just-so', that inevitably opens the doorway for dissatisfaction and unhappiness.” “When we live in the future, that's the definition of anxiety; when we live in the past, that's the definition of depression; when we live in the present- that's truly the definition of joy.”   “My goal in my work is to only share in the way that I want to share; not as a reaction to someone else.” “What is going to make me happy right now? It's not the finish line, it's not the bank account balance, it's not the things that we think- it's freedom.” “Our world becomes so narrow when we are only doing things in a way that feels aligned with how someone else is doing it.” “I own the power to make myself happy.” Links Mentioned: Connect with me over at www.amberlilyestrom.com Grab your FREE training, How to Call in Your Tribe + Create Content that Converts Head Here to Schedule A Breakthrough Call Be sure to tag me in your big shifts and takeaways: @amberlilyestrom Did you hear something you loved here today?! Rachel Paz is a Shameless Mom to her 9-year-old sonm as well as a relationship-readiness coach for independent women who feel like finding companionship and intimacy is impossible without settling. Rachel didn’t magically know exactly what she wanted in a relationship and how to get it - but a divorce and entering the dating world again were a wake-up call to address the fear of intimacy she had experienced her whole life. To get at the root of the issue, she broke down everything she did in relationships to figure out the reason why behind it. Along the way, Rachel realized that everything she did in relationships that had her feeling like she was settling, were actually behaviors that inherently avoided intimacy. Through identifying the patterns of these self-sabotaging behaviors and practicing alternative ways of doing things, she developed a sense of loyalty to herself that had never been there before, leading her to have deeper and more fulfilling relationships than she ever thought possible. Now Rachel leads women on this journey of examining who they are and who they want to be in their relationships, clearing out what’s in the way, and attracting partners that fit. She loves to see women unravel the intricacies of what they want, break patterns, and learn the skills to feel ready to love again without sacrificing themselves in the process. Rachel gets extremely open, honest, and vulnerable in sharing her story and her path to a much better life through the demise of her marriage and finding herself through Orgasmic Meditation.  Rachel’s dad was a priest before having a family.  Rachel had always lead repressed, albeit comfortable and controlled, life.  But she was not happy or fulfilled.  She shares her defining moments here.  If this conversation makes you uncomfortable, that miiiight mean you need to stick around and hear the message.  This is a powerful conversation that might really hit home in ways you did not think possible. Please note: while Rachel shares in the episode how Orgasmic Meditation (OM) changed her life, her sharing that experience is not intended to be an endorsement of the organization that teaches OM courses. Her coaching practice is based on principles she learned through practicing OM, and doesn't include OM itself, unless specifically requested. There is some truth to that, but many people have heard those cliches and couldn't just do it. They couldn't “feel the fear and do it anyway.” They literally feel like they will die if they do it. * We have really one core fear. It's like a rose bush: the root is the fear that feeds and nurtures and produces different flowers or ways of expressing itself. * All of the manifestations come from the core fear. * When you barrel through without understanding you'll hit the wall eventually. * Willpower has its limits. * When you get to rock bottom you've been trying to make do and make it happen but you're doing it from a fear perspective. You've been in crisis mode for awhile, which is really just stress. Stress is just unaware of the fear feeling moving through you. Then you realize your strategies didn't work so you have to address the issue and change your mindset and your funnel of processing information and change them fundamentally. * Sales is the dance between fear and freedom. * When you understand this you'll understand how your prospects are acting and what their fears are so you can shift your dialogue to support them and sooth them to bring about the sale. [Tweet ""People don't buy because of fear," says @RhondaBritten."] * People don't buy because of fear. * Money and time issues are all based on fear. * It's tricky. Insidious. About Today's Guest Sebastian Rusk on The Sales Podcast ( http://www.thesaleswhisperer.com/82 ) Sebastian Rusk had a daughter at 22 and learned what hustle is all about. After the real estate market crashed in 2008 he had to start over. And that's exactly what he did. Hear how he did it in today's episode. Tools To Thrive * Start Blogging Today ( http://www.bluehost.com/track/tsw ) : If you are new to blogging and need to put up a quick site and get real help with your hosting, try Bluehost ( http://www.bluehost.com/track/tsw ).  I've tried them all - GoDaddy, Hostable, HostGator, etc. All were good and bad. In December 2013 I took a long hard look at Bluehost ( http://www.bluehost.com/track/tsw ) , and what I found was nothing short of amazing. Their free domain service with the purchase of hosting, their 1-click WordPress setup and great customer service is what every new blogger and entrepreneur needs. Rubber-Meets-The-Road Tip * Got settled in SoCal in 2002 and wanted to be an entrepreneur. * Did direct marketing and lead generation in real estate and then 2008 collapsed. * Went back to Miami and it took him two years to realize he had to start over. * Was planning on coming to see Tony Robbins in SoCal and his friend introduced him to a co-worker of Tony Robbins and they hit it off. * Sebastian sent his video to her and she loved it and him and his energy. * He sent Social Buzz and TV to his designer and *three days later he had this logo and a YouTube channel*. * He realized he had to do more than just teach. He had to really walk them through how to connect and grow a business. * He started connecting with people, building his own business and bootcamps. * In 2011 he launched and it took a year to really make it profitable. * Now he's the brand ambassador for his clients and leverages his bow tie to help his clients grow. * We're living in an age of storytelling and disruption. * He was cast for a reality show on Fox a couple of years ago and he flew out in one day for a 15-minute meeting. He wandered over to Times Square and realized he was standing in the advertising mecca of the world but everyone was looking down at their phones. * Storytelling allows people to talk about what they like and care about. If brands can figure out how to become the go-to source for what they do by “enrolling people” into their stories and build an emotional connection they'll win. * The days of shoving stuff down the throats of your prospects are over. * The prospect is ready to buy if they are in your ecosystem, meaning they are online learning and reading and watching and studying about their purchase. If you are doing this right they are consuming your content and come to you to connect and buy. * It's all about H2H - Human to Human - selling and connecting and relationship building. * Customer experience is key. * Customer service is defense. * Heck, even the @CIA is now on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/cia ). * It's more cost effective to socially listen and gamble on reaching out proactively to your prospects mentioning what you do like a guy mentioning “I'm going for a run” and then Nike ships him 6 pairs of shoes. * Twitter has replaced the telephone. It bypasses the gatekeepers. * Search.twitter.com * Tell stories around the problem you solved.
