Welcome to our video interview with Adiba Fattah, a PHD researcher from the University of Sunshine Coast. Adiba is conducting a research project on the evaluation of the franchise model in the Australian automotive industry. In her study, Adiba is focusing on several key aspects. Firstly, she is investigating the social exchange dynamics and the power and control dynamics between the dealer and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) within the franchise model. She aims to gain a deeper understanding of how these dynamics impact the overall relationship between the two parties. Additionally, Adiba is examining various elements within the franchise relationship. She is particularly interested in exploring the influence of senior management rotation, the level of support provided by the OEM to the dealer, the effectiveness of warranty programs and diagnostic information, as well as the impact of key performance indicator (KPI) programs. Furthermore, Adiba will be reviewing the Australian regulations pertaining to the automotive industry and how they are perceived and interpreted by both dealers and OEMs. Understanding these regulations and their implications is crucial in comprehending the dynamics of the franchise model in Australia. Contractual requirements are also a significant area of focus for Adiba. She will be analyzing the operation manuals, policy, and procedures that govern the relationship between the dealer and the OEM. This examination will provide valuable insights into the expectations and obligations of both parties. In addition to these key topics, Adiba will be exploring the effectiveness of field teams, the reaction of dealers to legal reforms, and the role and effectiveness of dealer councils. These aspects play a crucial role in shaping the overall functioning of the franchise model in the Australian automotive industry. Through her extensive research, Adiba aims to shed light on the various aspects of the franchise model and provide valuable insights for both dealers and OEMs. Her work will contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics within the Australian automotive industry and potentially lead to improvements in the franchise model. Stay tuned for more updates on Adiba's research project. If you would like to participate in the research project you can contact: A Fattah PHD Researcher email: afattah@usc.edu.au

I avsnitt 36 av ”Talk to me” får ni höra Sarah Dawn Finer intervjua Adiba Barney. Hör Adiba Barney i ”Talk to me”, i en inspirerande intervju om sitt liv. Adiba har skrivit självbiografiska boken "När livet ger dig kaktusar, gör margaritas!". Today I'm interviewing Adiba Jaigirdar, the author of the Young Adult Contemporary novel, The Henna Wars, which debuted in 2020. Adiba Jaigirdar is a Bangladeshi/Irish writer and teacher, and she has an MA in Postcolonial Studies from the University of Kent, England and a BA in English and History from UCD, Ireland. All of her writing is aided by tea, and a healthy dose of Janelle Monáe and Hayley Kiyoko. When not writing, she is probably ranting about the ills of colonialism, playing video games, or expanding her overflowing lipstick collection. Today, we're diving deeper into her recent blog post titled Book Two Depression and discussing the unexpected apathy and disconnection authors sometimes feel toward their work, how writer friends can keep us afloat during these dark times, and how to cultivate joy around a particular project when you need it the most. I found my conversation with Adiba just as moving as when I read her original blog post and it was so refreshing to speak candidly about an experience many writers have, though often in isolation, especially over the past year as many of us have been drafting and debuting in a bubble that feels so far away from the rest of the world. Our conversation allowed me to let go of mainy painful months of trying to fall in love with my sophomore novel, and to finally make room for those feelings to grow in an organic way. I hope you come away from our conversation feeling less burdened too. So without further ado, find a comfy spot away from all the noise, and then enjoy my conversation with Adiba Jaigirdar. "A Yazidi woman's survival story" is episode 11 in the new GCSP Podcast Series. Dr Paul Vallet interviews Ms Adiba Qasim, Yazidi genocide survivor, asylum seeker and Young Leader in Foreign and Security Policy at the GCSP. Dr Paul Vallet: Welcome to the Geneva Centre for Security Policy weekly podcast. I'm your host, Dr Paul Vallet, Associate Fellow in the GCSP Global Fellowship Initiative. For the next few weeks, I'm talking with subject matter experts to explain issues of peace, security and international cooperation. Thank you, listeners, for tuning in. A few weeks from now, we'll be seeing an anniversary of an event that stunned the Middle East and the wider world, when jihadist fighters of ISIS overran Mosul and much of northern Iraq upending the lives of millions among which the Yazidi people living around Mount Sinjar this event began the odyssey of the guest. I'm very pleased to welcome on this week's podcast Ms Adiba Qasim. Adiba Qasim is one of the Global Fellowship Initiative’s “Young Leaders in Foreign and Security Policy”. Born into a Yazidi family of the Sinjar district in northern Iraq, she was about to begin her university studies in Mosul in 2014 when ISIS captured the area, forcing her to flee alongside members of her family. Undaunted by her displacement, she then became a freelance journalist as well as assistant to foreign media covering the Kurdish, Iraq government and coalition forces counter-offensive that resulted in the retrieval of Mosul in 2016 and 2017. She also worked with the Yazidi survivors who were held in captivity by Islamic state, as well as forcefully recruited child soldiers of ISIS. She is an asylum seeker in Switzerland she has been sponsored and arrived at the GCSP in the autumn of 2018. She has since enrolled at the University of Geneva and continues to testify on behalf of her community. She has been profiled by both Swiss television and print media, most recently the Tribune de Genève. Adiba Qasim’s story and accomplishments have mightily impressed us all at the GCSP. And it is the further this that I'm very pleased to speak with you this week. So welcome again, Adiba, welcome to the podcast.

Adiba Nelson is the girl that maybe you shouldn't take everywhere, but you do anyway. She's that laugh you hear from two blocks away. The girl who tells it like it is, with a wink and a smile, because her mama raised her right. And she has zero qualms about solving heated arguments with a dance battle—she is particularly skilled in the art of 90's dance culture, and will running man you into oblivion. Seriously. She is also a contributing writer to various online sources—everything from HuffPo to My Brown Baby, children's book author, public speaker, size acceptance activist and disability rights/inclusion advocate.
