What happens when your money helps build the very culture you're trying to protect your soul—and your family—from? John Heinen sits down with Chris McMahon—Catholic entrepreneur, father of five, and founder of two financial firms, including Aquinas Wealth Advisors—to expose what's broken in modern investing and how faithful men can do better. With over 35 years of experience and appearances on Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, Chris has seen firsthand how mainstream portfolios often fund abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, adult entertainment empires, and false ideologies that corrupt the dignity of the human person. Instead of looking away, he built a firm that offers clarity, conviction, and Catholic-aligned investment strategies. Alongside his wife Molly, Chris co-founded Mary's Place, a home for struggling mothers, and continues to serve the Sisters of Life and Sisters of Mary with bold generosity. His story is one of quiet defiance—against greed, cultural compromise, and moral indifference. This conversation challenges men not only to steward their wealth wisely but to do so with eternal impact in mind.

In this episode of Catholic Answers Live, Joe Heschmeyer we discusses a wide range of questions on Catholic doctrine and apologetics. Topics include: when salvation occurs in the case of baptism of desire, the difference between sacrifices due to God and those made for others, and how to respond to Protestants who claim unity isn’t needed if we all share the fruits of the Spirit. Joe also addresses how to explain the word “Catholic” in the Apostles' Creed to non-Catholics, whether Muslims worship the same God as Christians, biblical evidence for Mary's perpetual virginity, and how to counter gnostic-sounding claims about sin being “in the body.” Join The CA Live Club Newsletter: Click Here Invite our apologists to speak at your parish! Visit Catholicanswersspeakers.com Questions Covered: 08:58 – In the case of baptism of desire, when is the person saved? 17:57 – What type of sacrifice is due to God alone? As opposed to the type of sacrifices we make for others. 29:02 – If Protestants have fruits of the Spirit, some see that as a deterrent to unity (why seek unity when we all have fruits of the Spirit). How do we respond to that? 34:21 – My parents are Presbyterian. They see the word “Catholic” in the apostles' creed and say that since Catholic means universal it's simply referring to all the churches. How do we respond to that? 38:25 – The CCC says Muslims worship the same God as Abraham. How do we understand that since Muslims don't think they worship the same God as us? 44:12 – Where in the Bible can we find Mary's perpetual virginity? 51:25 – My friend thinks that sin is “in” the body. So when we die we don't have sin because we don't have our body. To me that sounds like gnosticism, but he doesn't think it is. How can I respond to him?

Send us a text by clicking this link! The age-old question of how to handle crying babies at Mass sparks a deeper conversation about parenting, reverence, and the future of the Church. "If your Mass ain't crying, it's dying" captures an important truth about vibrant parishes, but where's the line between welcoming families and maintaining sacred worship? As Catholic fathers, we dive into the practical realities of bringing children to Mass—sharing our own struggles, successes, and the occasional parenting mishaps. We explore the profound difference between an infant's occasional cry and the entitled parenting that allows older children to disrupt Mass without intervention. The challenging truth is that parents have a responsibility not just to bring children to church, but to gradually teach them appropriate behavior in sacred spaces. From our personal experiences—taking restless four-year-olds to the narthex, teaching toddlers to recognize Jesus at the Consecration, and receiving both death glares and encouragement from fellow parishioners—we offer insights into this delicate balance. We acknowledge the special challenges of traveling families, single parents, and children with special needs, while emphasizing how even very young children can begin to understand the reverence due to the Eucharist.Beyond the baby debate, we tackle controversial topics including Eucharistic procession protests in Texas, the jaw-dropping story of someone willing to spend $17,000 on cat cancer treatments, and concerning trends in Catholic apologetics. We finish with hopeful signs of traditional Catholicism's resurgence among young Americans seeking substance and meaning in an increasingly rootless culture.Join us for this honest, sometimes humorous exploration of Catholic family life and the challenges of raising faithful children in today's world. Wisconsin’s unemployment insurance program provides financial assistance to those who have lost their job through no fault of their own. Under state law, certain nonprofit organizations can opt out of the program, including those operated primarily for religious purposes. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Superior—a religious ministry that serves people with disabilities, the elderly, and the impoverished—requested an exemption from the state’s program so that it could enroll in the Wisconsin Bishops’ Church Unemployment Pay Program (CUPP), which provides the same level of unemployment benefits.Last year, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that Catholic Charities could not receive an exemption because its charitable work was not “typical” religious activity. The court said that Catholic Charities could only qualify for an exemption if, for example, it limited its hiring to Catholics and tried to convert those it served. On June 5th, 2025, the United States Supreme Court unanimously reversed the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s ruling, holding it was a violation of the First Amendment to withhold a tax exemption on the grounds that they were not “operated primarily for religious purposes” because the organization did not proselytize or limit services to only fellow Catholics. Gospel John 19:25-34 Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,             and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved,             he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple,             “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. After this, aware that everything was now finished,             in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled,             Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop             and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,             “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. Now since it was preparation day,             in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath,             for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,             the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken             and they be taken down. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first             and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead,             they did not break his legs,             but one soldier thrust his lance into his side,             and immediately Blood and water flowed out. Reflection Many do not realize the power of the Eucharist. And we as Catholics believe that when you go to the Eucharist, any venial sins as you have on your soul are forgiven. And what I see in this passage is a beautiful image of the wine, which is the wine of forgiveness, the consecrated wine. What is so beautiful about this passage is Jesus is doing one last thing before he claims it is all finished, and that is to drink the wine of forgiveness. It's a beautiful image of not only Jesus forgiving. Those who disappointed him, weren't there for him, condemned him, crucified him, but also it's a part of his way of saying that world of unforgiveness, of judgment, of condemnation is finished. And the Eucharist, brings in the world of forgiveness, which is the beginning of the kingdom that we now live in. Closing Prayer Father, we've been taught that the Eucharist is a reenactment of the death and resurrection of Jesus. But we don't really take it as literally as we should, because what it's saying is that every time we take the Eucharist, we are not only infused with the power of the Holy Spirit, but given the gift of being able to forgive. It empowers our forgiveness, which is the heart of everything that seems to me that we are missing in the world. A spirit of openness and forgiveness, acceptance, support. Connection. Bless us with these gifts and we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What makes a healthy life of nature and of grace? As Catholics, we know that grace is all-important. But this grace also works and builds upon a foundation which we call nature. Our Faith teaches us how to have a healthy natural life, and this ordered life can bring us profound peace, joy, and purpose when it is infused with the supernatural life of grace.

What's up guys, welcome back if you're returning and if you're new here welcome. In this episode we're going to talk about the unfortunate reality of divorce. I myself have experienced my parents getting divorced when I was a kid and needless to say it really sucked for every one of course..but I tie this all together with the faith and why this is important. The reality is, too many couples out there agree to get sacramentally married in The Catholic Church with literally 0 understanding of what that vocation entails. I don't think I've seen anyone really talk about this. I saw it first hand with my parents who were cultural Catholics and horrible catechized, and I see it plenty with clients and potential clients who are interested in the program when they tell me about certain sticky situations they are in. I was going crazy this episode I felt like LeBron of podcasting. In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have. The Rosary is foremost among them.Join the Great Rosary Campaign today at: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com.The Great Rosary Campaign is a yearlong mission for the conversion of cultural leaders. We will announce a weekly call to pray every Sunday for specific fallen-away Catholics and non-Catholics.THIS WEEK of the Great Rosary Campaign, in light of his recent cancer diagnosis and the perhaps more limited time he will have as a result, we are praying for the conversion of former President Joe Biden. He is a baptized Catholic, but has stridently opposed the Church's teaching in many ways, particularly on life, and marriage. We pray for his repentance and reconciliation with the Church. The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is a 24 hour water fast, adjusted for your state in life.Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:Keeping the FaithMoral renovationConversions of non-CatholicsThe Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).Sign up to take part in the Great Rosary Campaign today: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com

Full Text of ReadingsSaturday of the Seventh Week of Easter - Mass in the Morning Lectionary: 302The Saint of the day is Blessed Franz JgersttterBlessed Franz Jägerstätter's Story Called to fight for his country as a Nazi soldier, Franz eventually refused, and this husband and father of three daughters—Rosalie, Marie and Aloisia—was executed because of it. Born in St. Radegund in Upper Austria, Franz lost his father during World War I and was adopted after Heinrich Jaegerstaetter married Rosalia Huber. As a young man, he loved to ride his motorcycle and was the natural leader of a gang whose members were arrested in 1934 for brawling. For three years he worked in the mines in another city and then returned to St. Radegund, where he became a farmer, married Franziska and lived his faith with quiet but intense conviction. In 1938, he publicly opposed the German Anschluss–annexation–of Austria. The next year he was drafted into the Austrian army, trained for seven months and then received a deferment. In 1940, Franz was called up again but allowed to return home at the request of the town's mayor. He was in active service between October 1940 and April 1941, but was again deferred. His pastor, other priests, and the bishop of Linz urged him not to refuse to serve if drafted. In February 1943, Franz was called up again and reported to army officials in Enns, Austria. When he refused to take the oath of loyalty to Hitler, he was imprisoned in Linz. Later he volunteered to serve in the medical corps but was not assigned there. During Holy Week Franz wrote to his wife: “Easter is coming and, if it should be God's will that we can never again in this world celebrate Easter together in our intimate family circle, we can still look ahead in the happy confidence that, when the eternal Easter morning dawns, no one in our family circle shall be missing—so we can then be permitted to rejoice together forever.” He was transferred in May to a prison in Berlin. Challenged by his attorney that other Catholics were serving in the army, Franz responded, “I can only act on my own conscience. I do not judge anyone. I can only judge myself.” He continued, “I have considered my family. I have prayed and put myself and my family in God's hands. I know that, if I do what I think God wants me to do, he will take care of my family.” On August 8, 1943, Franz wrote to Fransizka: “Dear wife and mother, I thank you once more from my heart for everything that you have done for me in my lifetime, for all the sacrifices that you have borne for me. I beg you to forgive me if I have hurt or offended you, just as I have forgiven everything…My heartfelt greetings for my dear children. I will surely beg the dear God, if I am permitted to enter heaven soon, that he will set aside a little place in heaven for all of you.” Franz was beheaded and cremated the following day. In 1946, his ashes were reburied in St. Radegund near a memorial inscribed with his name and the names of almost 60 village men who died during their military service. He was beatified in Linz on October 26, 2007. His “spiritual testament” is now in Rome's St. Bartholomew Church as part of a shrine to 20th-century martyrs for their faith. Blessed Franz’s liturgical feast is celebrated on August 9. Want to learn more about Blessed Franz Jägerstätter? Click here! Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media
