On this episode of "The Federalist Radio Hour," Victoria Coates, vice president of The Heritage Foundation's Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy, joins The Federalist's Senior Elections Correspondent Matt Kittle to discuss how the United States and Israel can win both the military and cultural war that has led to rampant anti-semitism and the horrific Oct. 7 attack. After four years of abysmal leadership from the Biden-Harris administration, Coates explains what a Trump presidency may look like for peace in the Middle East. You can find Coate's book The Battle For The Jewish State: How Israel -- And America -- Can Win here. I started training in martial arts in 2017, training in Aikido with Airenjuku at SOAS University. I trained there for 2.5 years (achieving 3rd Kyu) before I caught the Karate bug when I began training with the renowned Prof Stephen Chan at SOAS Jindokai club. Although the training in both clubs was of a high, traditional standard, I made the decision to develop my skills in practical self-defence. Having trained for a while with Urban Krav Maga Instructor Stewart McGill (of Martial Arts Illustrated Hall of Fame), I had a vague idea of practical self-defence, but also missed the discipline of traditional martial arts. https://www.totalshotokankarate.uk/ Don't forget to grab your Karate Journal to document your journey: Amazon Karate Journal Link: https://amzn.to/3l9spmt If you found value in this episode or enjoyed it, please consider sharing it with your friends on social media. Uncertain times have a tendency to stop us in our tracks. But marketing leader and mental health advocate Andrew J. Coate posits that life may be more ambiguous than not and offers a practical and effective approach for managing ourselves during times of flux. Embracing the situation might not just be a matter of survival, but can even be a catalyst for growth and opportunity!"Look at ambiguity as a chance to gain instead of a chance to lose. RED-S, LEA, The Female Athlete Triad, Overtraining, Overreaching, Underfueling…These words and acronyms are pervasive in endurance sports circles but, quite frankly, still cause much confusion and debate. Often, they are mistakenly used interchangeably when the definitions and symptoms do differ significantly.Today's guest, Dr. Alex Coates, demystifies each of these concepts and explains them in a way that all active people can understand in order to remain healthy and active throughout their lives.Dr. Coates is a postdoctoral fellow at McMaster University where she studies systems-level integrative exercise physiology. As a former elite triathlete at the national level, Alex trained and raced on multiple world championship teams and saw first-hand the repercussions of what would eventually become her areas of primary focus - overtraining, underfueling, and insufficient recovery from training. In fact, she and her sister, Kyla, actually were one of the first to document the existence and definition of RED-S, or Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome, which presents in both men and women. In this episode, she and Sara discuss:The differences in the terms Female Athlete Triad, RED-S, and Low Energy AvailabilityWhy the Female Athlete Triad needed an update to include RED-SThe multiple hormonal symptoms of RED-S and the personal impact it had on Alex's sister, KylaThe nuances of LEA and RED-SThe differences between overtraining and overreaching and the ability to recover (or not)The impact of underfueling on recovery on all types of performanceAn outline of The FUELED course modules, including the body's various energy systemsFemale Athlete Development from Puberty to AdulthoodDr. Coate's work hopefully connects the dots for any athlete suffering from extreme fatigue, thermal regulation issues, performance plateaus, and other hormonal imbalances that may be brought on by extreme training.Alex is also the lead Exercise Physiologist on the Feisty FUELED course that is launching in April. Escute, rei Josafá! Assim diz o SENHOR: Não tenham medo! Não fiquem desanimados por causa desse exército imenso, pois a batalha não é sua, mas de Deus. Amanhã, marchem contra eles. Vocês os encontrarão vindo pela subida de Ziz, no fim do vale que abre para o deserto de Jeruel. Quando os encontrarem, porém, não terão de lutar. We award our villains of the year, with no surprises as Daniel Andrews and Nick Coatsworth's “make your beds” quote take the honours, before we speak to our Hero of the Year David Limbrick MP about the state of human rights in Victoria now and in the future, and how we should never forget how the government locked up public housing towers (20:50-47:06). At the end, we discuss Paris' city council being fined for breaking gender equity laws by having too many women, the ABC's mad rush to get to a 50/50 gender split on on-air talent and the viral article saying black people's votes should count twice because apparently your skin colour should determine political representation, before signing off for the last time.
In keeping with this week's episode on history, I decided to bring out a book from my library on history to review today. In this episode, we'll look at some of the secrets of history from this book. Basically, this book is a collection of short stories that many may not know about American history. Despite being a history buff, I hadn't heard many of the stories, so I think there's a lot of learning for anyone. Tune into this episode, I'll show you why you should pick up your copy. "It's a very good historical book about history." Dan Quayle Grab your copy of Shocking Secrets of American History by Bill Coate "History's like a story in a way: it depends on who's telling it." -Dorothy Salisbury Davis Some Shocking Secrets of History How much about history do you really know? Did you know about Aaron Burr's debauchery? How about John Edwards' wayward grand nephew? If you want to learn incredible stories about our past, this book is where you want to look. In fact, some of the stories are truly unbelievable. Despite that, these did happen, and I think you'd be amazed by some of these stories. It's definitely important to know the broad themes and movements of history. However, these little stories are great to know as well, and can make for a great way to get people interested in history. Why History is Important to Learn History is a part of our heritage, and it's important to know where we come from. Furthermore, knowing history allows us to identify solutions in our current situation. There's a common saying that those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it, and that's true. Most importantly, it offers us the knowledge we need to make decisions about our world. This is because it puts things in perspective by broadening our frame of reference. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/conofourgen/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/conofourgen/support
Jenny Mikakos said to judge Coate to take Premier Andrews words ,,with caution" and Peta Credlin grills Premier at the press conference for hotel quarantine. Looks like after Mikakos another big head from Premier office will fall... - Premiér Andrews neotvorí štát, predĺžil stav katastrofy do 8. novembra a stále nechce priznať, kto nariadil smrtonosnú hotelovú karanténu v Melbourne so súkromnou ochrankou a pohrdol federálnou pomocou armády.

Abstract: Spontaneous bursts of electrical activity in the developing auditory system arise within the cochlea prior to hearing onset and propagate through future sound processing circuits of the brain to promote maturation of auditory neurons. Studies in isolated cochleae revealed that this intrinsically generated activity is initiated by ATP release from inner supporting cells (ISCs), resulting in activation of purinergic autoreceptors, K+ efflux and subsequent depolarization of inner hair cells (IHCs). However, little is known about when this activity emerges or whether different mechanisms underlie distinct stages of development. Here we show that spontaneous electrical activity in mouse cochlea emerges within ISCs during the late embryonic period, preceding the onset of spontaneous correlated activity in IHCs and spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs), which begins at birth and follows a base to apex developmental gradient. At all developmental stages, pharmacological inhibition of P2Y1 metabotropic purinergic receptors dramatically reduced spontaneous activity in these three cell types. Moreover, in vivo imaging within the inferior colliculus of awake mice revealed that auditory neurons within future isofrequency zones exhibit coordinated neural activity at birth. The frequency of these discrete bursts increased progressively during the postnatal prehearing period, yet remained dependent on P2RY1. Analysis of mice with disrupted cholinergic signaling in the cochlea, indicate that this input modulates, rather than initiates, spontaneous activity before hearing onset. Thus, the auditory system uses a consistent mechanism involving ATP release from ISCs and activation of purinergic autoreceptors to elicit coordinated excitation of neurons that will process similar frequencies of sound. So, who are these people who are watching our Churches Online and what are we supposed to do with them? COVID-19 has brought us tons of traffic, and maybe for the first time we, as a church, are understanding the potential of the reach of Church Online. But here's a hard truth: people are not going to stay at your church because of content. Why do people stay? Because of community, vision, being on mission... The COVID-19 lesson for Church Online, if nothing else, is integral to your vision into Church Online. Cause if people are only watching online for content, well... Netflix cost $9. They don't sell vision, but they do a great job at making a consumer. Don't even get me started at Disney+. So, what's the process to get people engaged, activated online? While we're talking, what's that even look like in the physical building? Can Physical + Digital work together, for the benefit of our people? These are the conversations we're having here on The Church Digital Podcast. SHOW NOTES AVAILABLE ON THECHURCH.DIGITAL --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thechurchdigital/message
