A strong prayer life is built intentionally through daily practice and consistent communion with Him. As duty gives way to discipline, discipline awakens desire, and desire leads to delight, believers grow deeper and stronger in their walk with God.01/25/2026 - Sunday Afternoon Scriptures:Luke 11:1Matthew 5:6Psalm 42:1-2Psalm 63:1-2I Peter 2:2Psalm 73:25, 16:11Psalms 23, 27, 51, 63, 91, 119, 121, 139Nehemiah 1:4Romas 13:11-14Revelation 3:20Psalm 27:8

What does the future really look like for UK bookkeepers as regulation tightens, MTD expands and professionalism becomes more important than ever? In this episode of the 6FB Sofa Sessions, Ami Copeland, CEO of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), explains exactly what's changing, what standards matter most, and how bookkeepers can protect, grow and future-proof their practices. Ami leads one of the most influential professional bodies in UK bookkeeping and works closely with HMRC, software providers and regulatory partners to shape the modern bookkeeping profession. In this conversation with Jo Wood and Zoe Whitman, she shares what she is seeing across thousands of UK practices, how professionalism and compliance expectations are rising, and why strong ethical standards will define the next decade of bookkeeping. You'll hear how Making Tax Digital is reshaping the role of the bookkeeper, what regulation really means for day-to-day practice, and how bookkeepers can position themselves as trusted finance partners rather than “just” compliance providers. Ami also talks openly about confidence, competence, qualifications, and why credibility will become a key differentiator as the industry continues to grow. This episode explores the commercial benefits of being professionally recognised, how education and CPD protect both you and your clients, and why bookkeepers who embrace change now will be the ones leading the profession in the years ahead. Ami explains the balance between accessibility and accountability in bookkeeping, and what standards clients will increasingly expect as business owners become more financially aware. If you are a UK bookkeeper navigating MTD, thinking about regulation, wanting to raise your professional profile, or unsure how formal recognition fits into your growth plans, this episode will give you clarity, reassurance and direction. Y puedes empezar a disfrutarla ahora mismo. In this episode, Joel Lawrence and Matt Kim talk with pastor, lawyer,  theologian Dr. K. Edward Copeland about how the gospel shapes the church's engagement with today's social and political tensions. Ed shares his unique journey—from overcoming a childhood speech impediment to decades of ministry and justice work—and offers a compelling vision of the gospel as God's reconciling work for people, systems, and the whole cosmos. Drawing on the African American preaching tradition and the posture of exile, he explains how preaching can form Christians who discern cultural idols, process societal events theologically, and live faithfully amid fractured times. The result is a conversation full of wisdom, hope, and clarity for pastors and congregations navigating the complexities of modern life.Living Church - Awe and Presence

With all precincts reporting, Gaddis secured 698 votes (64.15%) to Gaudet’s 390 (35.85%). The results will be certified Dec. 8. “It’s been a long road, but we worked hard and had incredible support,” Gaddis said, reflecting on a campaign that reached over 3,500 voters. Still, he admitted the race wasn’t without challenges, particularly the push to label him politically. “Parks, sidewalks, public safety—these aren’t partisan issues,” he said. Gaudet, who moved to Georgia five years ago, acknowledged the uphill battle of being a “wild card” candidate. “I didn’t have deep connections here,” she said, adding that campaigning through the holidays was exhausting. “People are tired by a runoff—they just want it over.” Both candidates highlighted inequities in Marietta, from neglected neighborhoods to housing affordability. Gaddis spoke of the need to preserve Marietta’s charm while addressing real issues like homelessness and unsafe streets. Gaudet, meanwhile, emphasized the voices of overlooked residents. “We’ve done great work,” Gaudet said. “And I hope those quiet voices finally get heard.” STORY 2: Proposed Atlanta Road apartments delayed amid safety, school capacity concerns  After hearing concerns about traffic and overcrowding, the Cobb County Planning Commission hit pause Tuesday on a proposed 249-unit apartment complex at Atlanta Road and I-285. The decision? Delayed until February. Flournoy Development Group wants to rezone 3.79 acres to build the rental apartments—mostly one-bedrooms—but the project’s sparked pushback. Locals worry about traffic, U-turn safety, and overcrowding at Nickajack Elementary, which is already 269 students over capacity. Attorney Kevin Moore, representing Flournoy, said the plan has been revised: fewer units (down from 274), shorter building height along Atlanta Road, and a parking deck tucked into the five-story section near the interstate. But traffic remains a sticking point. Residents like Nat Milburn, from Olde Ivy at Vinings, raised alarms about U-turns, claiming the project could add 500 daily U-turns and spike accidents by 800%. Moore dismissed the data as “opinion,” but Planning Chair Nadia Faucette wasn’t sold. “I’m for the project, but safety’s a big concern,” she said. The commission will revisit the case Feb. 3, giving Flournoy time to address traffic, signage, and other community concerns. STORY 3: Honorees announced for 41st annual Tribute to Women of Achievement  LiveSafe Resources, a Marietta-based shelter for domestic violence survivors, has revealed the honorees for its 41st annual Tribute to Women of Achievement. Every year, the organization celebrates 15 women who’ve made waves—personally, professionally, and through volunteer work. One will be crowned 2026 Woman of the Year at the awards gala on March 20 at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest. This year’s honorees include leaders like Cobb Solicitor General Makia Metzger, Braves exec DeRetta Rhodes, and Judge Jaret Usher. The gala will feature dinner, auctions, and awards like the Pat Head Dignity Award for public safety and the Kim Gresh Survivor’s Award, honoring a survivor whose story inspires. Tickets are available now. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: INGLES 4 STORY 4: Carlyle Kent reelected to Marietta City Council  Councilman Carlyle Kent is staying put in Ward 5, clinching reelection with a commanding 80.49% of the vote over challenger and former Councilman Reggie Copeland, who pulled in just 19.51%. Unofficial results show Kent received 495 votes to Copeland’s 120, with all precincts reporting. The results will be certified Dec. 8. This race felt like déjà vu—Kent unseated Copeland back in 2021. “My neighbors pushed me to run four years ago because they felt the ward wasn’t being represented well,” Kent said Tuesday, surrounded by family, friends, and supporters who cheered as the final numbers came in. Kent credited his team’s hard work—canvassing, phone banking, and connecting with newly redistricted voters—for the win. “I’m always optimistic, but it’s humbling to see that support,” he said, adding, “I give thanks to the Lord for putting the right people in my life.” Looking ahead, Kent said his focus remains on improving Ward 5. “I want to leave it better than I found it.” STORY 5: Wheeler to host big-name programs in Tournament of Champions SPORTS UPDATE Wheeler’s boys basketball team will host the Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic on Saturday, featuring 16 top teams from Georgia and beyond. Games start at 10 a.m. and run every 90 minutes, with $22 tickets covering all eight matchups. Are Two Are Better Than One: Understanding Tandem Compressors

HVAC School - For Techs, By Techs

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 4, 2025 49:43

In this comprehensive episode of the HVAC School podcast, host Bryan Orr sits down with three experts from Copeland to demystify tandem and trio compressor systems. Joining him are Gina Kahle (Multiples Engineering Manager with 12+ years at Copeland), Tyler Daniels (Product Management team member), and James Stevenson (Technical Sales veteran with 28 years of field experience). Together, they provide both the engineering perspective and real-world service insights that technicians need to understand these increasingly common systems. The conversation begins with the fundamentals: tandem and trio systems represent an evolution in compression modulation, allowing multiple compressors to work together on a single circuit rather than requiring separate circuits for each compressor. This design philosophy delivers significant advantages, including energy savings through better modulation, simplified system design, reduced costs, and the ability to meet stringent minimum modulation requirements (such as the 25% threshold for units under 60,000 BTUs per hour). The team emphasizes that tandems aren't just about pairing any two compressors together—Copeland engineers carefully consider application requirements, flow characteristics, and stress testing to ensure reliable oil management and system resonance control. A major focus of the discussion centers on practical service considerations that every technician needs to understand. James provides invaluable guidance on identifying whether a failed compressor in a tandem system can be replaced individually or requires replacing the entire tandem assembly. The "rule of thumb" is clear: compressors small enough to fit in residential systems (typically under 10 horsepower or about 7 inches in diameter) generally require full tandem replacement, while larger units may allow single compressor replacement. The distinction between "tandem ready" and non-tandem ready compressors becomes critical here—larger compressors (10+ horsepower) are typically sold tandem ready at wholesalers with the necessary oil equalization ports and sight glass connections, while smaller units are not. The episode also explores advanced topics, including the integration of Enhanced Vapor Injection (EVI) technology with tandem systems, particularly for cold climate heat pump applications. Gina explains how EVI extends the operating envelope down to -40°F, opening new markets and applications. The team discusses the transition to A2L refrigerants and how Copeland continues to innovate despite changing regulatory landscapes. Throughout the conversation, they emphasize the critical importance of proper oil management through oil equalization lines (OEL) and two-phase transfer lines (TPTL), and why maintaining these connections exactly as designed is non-negotiable for system longevity. Key Topics Covered: Tandem and Trio Basics: Definition and benefits, including energy savings, cost reduction, and design simplification Modulation Requirements: Meeting state-mandated minimum modulation thresholds (25% for units under 60,000 BTU/hr) Applications: Data centers, DOAS units, rooftops, chillers, and various commercial spaces Compressor Pairing Options: Fixed speed, digital, variable speed, two-stage, and mixed configurations Oil Management: Critical importance of oil equalization lines (OEL), two-phase transfer lines (TPTL), and gas equalization lines (GEL) Service and Replacement: How to identify tandem-ready vs. non-tandem-ready compressors; when to replace individual compressors vs. full tandem assemblies Visual Identification: Using compressor size (7" vs 9" diameter), port configuration, and horsepower ratings to determine replacement strategy Piping Configurations: Three-pipe vs. four-pipe designs and when each is necessary Installation Considerations: Importance of keeping oil equalization lines level (parallel to ground) and using proper mounting spacers Enhanced Vapor Injection (EVI): How EVI technology extends operating envelopes to -40°F for cold climate heat pump applications Energy Efficiency Standards: Meeting IEER, IPLV, and upcoming IVEC standards through strategic tandem use Copeland Mobile App: Features, including parts lookup, resistance specifications, amperage mapping, AI Scout assistant, and technical bulletins   Learn about the Copeland Mobile app at https://www.copeland.com/en-us/tools-resources/mobile-apps/copeland-mobile.  Have a question that you want us to answer on the podcast? The 1999 London nail bombings were a series of bomb explosions in London, England. Over three successive weekends between 17 and 30 April 1999, homemade nail bombs were detonated in Brixton in south London; at Brick Lane, Spitalfields, in the East End; and at the Admiral Duncan pub in Soho in the West End. Each bomb contained up to 1,500 100 mm nails in duffel bags that were left in public spaces. The bombs killed three people and injured 140 people, four of whom lost limbs. On 2 May 1999, the Metropolitan Police Anti-Terrorist Branch charged 22-year-old David Copeland with murder. Copeland, who became known as the "London nail bomber", was a neo-Nazi militant and a former member of two political groups, the British National Party and then the National Socialist Movement. The bombings were aimed at London's Black, Bengali, and LGBT communities.[1] Copeland was convicted of murder in 2000 and given six life sentences.[1]Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

¡No! What if your mental struggle isn't a personal failure, but a logical reaction to a broken society? This week on A Mental Health Break, we are joined by poet, playwright, Yale graduate, and cultural critic D.C. Copeland, author of the forthcoming book, Societal Dropout: A Culture Manifesto for the New Millennium. D.C. brings a unique, potent voice to the show, leveraging the philosophy of Jung, Freud, and Nietzsche to dissect our modern anxieties. In this profound and provocative discussion, we dive deep into:The Societal Roots of Illness: We tackle the core question: How do we fundamentally remove the negative stigmatization about mental illness by shifting the focus from individual flaw to systemic failure? The Millennial Divide: D.C. offers a compelling analysis of the generation caught between extremes—why are Millennials either doing incredibly well or struggling with housing insecurity, and what does this financial anxiety do to their mental health?Gender and Constraint: We dissect a powerful quote from D.C.'s book: "My experience of the feminine is one of deep pain and glorious power." We explore how rigid gender constraints limit not only art, but the soul, and why finding power requires creating outside those boundaries.Life Beyond the Line: D.C. defines what "dropping out of society" truly means—is it a physical exit, or a necessary philosophical break to protect your well-being?If you've ever felt that you don't fit into the demands of modern life, this episode is your permission slip to rethink the system and prioritize your own mental freedom.Find D.C. Theologian Rebecca Copeland joins Jim Stump to talk about how we think about sin in a world full of wicked problems—complex, interconnected issues like climate change, inequality, and mistrust in science. Our usual theological categories often fall short: sin as personal moral failure doesn't capture the systemic nature of these problems, and sin as an inherited condition can leave us feeling powerless. Copeland offers another way of understanding sin—what she calls unoriginal sin—that helps us recognize both our complicity in broken systems and our capacity for repentance and healing. The conversation moves from deep theology to practical questions about how we live responsibly and hopefully in a tangled, imperfect world. Theme song and credits music by Breakmaster Cylinder.
