In another article, Goldmacher—alongside June Kim and Christine Zhang—evaluate “how Donald Trump has remade America's political landscape.” They document that 435 counties across the country became more “Democratic” from 2012 and 2024—however, 2,678 counties became more “Republican.” Further complicating matters is the 2030 census which is expected to cause comfortably blue states to lose electoral votes as citizens move to red states. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/16/2025): 3:05pm- While speaking with the press from the Oval Office alongside President Donald Trump on Monday, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele revealed that he has no plans to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was deported to El Salvador after the Trump Administration determined he was in the U.S. illegally and a member of the gang MS-13. In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court determined that Abrego Garcia's deportation was, in part, the result of an “administrative error” and that the Trump Administration should “facilitate” his return to the United States. Though, after the error is corrected, Abrego Garcia would ultimately be eligible for deportation anyway. While speaking with the press, Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller denied an administrative error ever occurred. The Trump Administration also noted that because Abrego Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador, they have no recourse if Bukele denies their request for release. 3:10pm- In posts to social media, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) documented his trip to San Salvador, El Salvador where he hoped to negotiate the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. In response, China announced that it will be placing a 125% on American imports. Trump Administration Trade Representative Jamieson Greer called the decision “not terribly surprising but certainly unfortunate.” Rich emphasizes that President Trump “needs to announce deals” in order to calm markets and allow the administration to focus its efforts on remedying Chinese trade predations. 3:10pm- On Friday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said “the phones are ringing off the hook” with U.S. trade partners seeking to discuss retooled agreements. In a post to Truth Social, he wrote: “The House and Senate should push hard for more Daylight at the end of a day. Very popular and, most importantly, no more changing of the clocks, a big inconvenience and, for our government, A VERY COSTLY EVENT!!!” Rich jokes that Trump will simply send Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to negotiate with the sun for an additional hour of daylight—after successfully negotiating new trade deals with Vietnam and Japan, of course. 4:05pm- BREAKING NEWS: Louisiana immigration Judge Jamee Comans determined that she has no authority to question Secretary of State Marco Rubio's decision to deport Mahmoud Khalil——a former Columbia University graduate student and a non-U.S. citizen—who has been outspoken about his support for the terrorist organization Hamas and ending Western civilization. He will be deported to either Syria or Algeria. 4:30pm- According to a report from ABC27 News, Shawn Monper—a man from Butler County, Pennsylvania—has been charged with threatening to kill President Donald Trump and Elon Musk in videos posted to his YouTube channel “Mr. Satan.” Monper allegedly began purchasing guns after Trump's inauguration. 4:50pm- While visiting Rome, Italy, Queen Camilla was presented with a Margherita pizza to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary. The Senate will consider the CR Friday afternoon. After initially telling reporters that Democrats would not help Republicans overcome the 60-vote filibuster threshold, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said he will vote in favor of cloture to prevent the government from shutting down at midnight on Friday. House Democrats are decrying Sen. Schumer's decision—with rumors swirling that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be considering a primary challenge. Sen. Schumer is up for re-election in 2028. 3:10pm- Will the Senate vote in favor of funding the government through September? According to Politico, a government shutdown may be in the Trump Administration's best interest—as the Attorney General and Office of Management of Budget will determine what federal activities are essential based on guidance that dates back to the Carter Administration. This would allow for DOGE to slash the size of government with even greater ease. 3:30pm- Speaking from the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump condemned the DOJ's past weaponization—which he noted targeted him and other individuals deemed to be political rivals by the law enforcement agency. Trump stated, “we must be honest about the lies and abuses that have occurred within these walls. Unfortunately, in recent years, a corrupt group of hacks and radicals within the ranks of the American government obliterated the trust and goodwill built up over generations.” 4:00pm- This week, several conservative commentators were “swatted”—which occurs when someone purposefully deceives an emergency response operator, reporting a serious crime and ultimately causing police units to storm another person's address. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It's amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don't want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.” 4:10pm- On Friday, President Donald Trump invited Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to visit the White House with the intention of holding a joint press conference before signing an agreement that would provide security guarantees to Ukraine in exchange for access to the country's rare earth mineral reserves. However, while speaking with the press in the Oval Office, Zelensky seemingly blamed the United States for ignoring Russian aggression and predations, specifically in 2014. In response, Trump noted that he wasn't in office at that time—and unlike then-President Barack Obama, who provided Ukrainians with “sheets,” the Trump Administration armed Ukraine with javelin missiles. During the heated exchange, Trump stated: “You're gambling with the lives of millions of people. You're gambling with World War III.” At one point, he emphasized “if you didn't have our military equipment this war would have been over in 2-weeks.” According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Zelensky left the White House without signing the negotiated agreement. 4:20pm- Rich wonders: If Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky didn't like the rare earth mineral agreement his country negotiated with the United States, then why did he even bother coming to the White House? 4:30pm- Dr. Victoria Coates—Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the volatile exchange between President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office.
