Throughout nursing school, working in the hospital or at "the bedside" was definitely the encouraged career path after graduation and licensure. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 55% of registered nurses worked in hospitals in 2022. However, a beauty of the nursing profession is its versatility of where one could take a position: ambulatory services, home health, schools, politics, you name it. Over the recent years, we have also seen a new pavement in nursing entrepreneurship in collaboration with the rise of technology, social media, and artificial intelligence. We are joined in this episode by three "nursepreneurs" within the social space.Cara Lunsford is the Founder and CEO of HOLLIBLU, a social networking app for nurses, which was acquired by Relias/Nurse.com, where she is now the Vice President of Community. Nurse.com has been the trusted go-to resource for nurses worldwide for more than 30 years, providing the nursing community with peer support, job opportunities, and accredited continuing education. Cara has been a registered nurse for almost two decades, having worked in the areas of pediatric oncology, infusion services, hospice care, and concierge home health as a Director of Nursing.Anthony Scarpone-Lambert is the Co-Founder and CEO of Adni (formerly Lumify), a one-stop shop of gear and resources made for healthcare workers and the only all-in-one AI-powered clinician engagement platform. He previously co-founded Text-911, an advocacy non-profit startup expediting the process of implementing emergency text capabilities in all United States counties. Anthony received his Nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was the Class Board Executive Vice President and graduated with the Spoon and Dean's Awards as the first honor of his graduating class. Anthony was a childhood Broadway performer from the Disney Theatrical Group.Tamara AL-Yassin is the CEO of The Nursing Beat, the only free daily digital nurse-operated newsletter made for nurses. The first international touring stage production of The Lion King opens at Auckland's Spark Arena in June. The musical stage show has already toured throughout Asia, and was slated to open in Wuhan just as the pandemic broke out. Michael Cassel is its executive producer. He's had a fair amount of experience of weathering lock down, both professional and personal; he was one of the first people in Australia to contract Covid-19. Michael is also Executive Producer of the Australian production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and co-producer of Hamilton, currently playing in Sydney. Michael was with the Disney Theatrical Group for ten years, overseeing the company's Broadway stage productions overseas. At the age of twelve Michael understood, just from reading the Jesus Christ Superstar programme that producing was the job for him. He tells Kathryn producing gives him fingers in the most theatrical pies.

Sharing “I learned more about me pretending to be someone else”, Lisa talks about uncovering her true values and translating into living a juicy life with dreams for the kids of the world. This delightful podcast is about claiming - and living - authentically. Or as Lisa says “We’re often told to improve things we’re bad at. But there’s nothing wrong with finding the thing you’re good at and doing that!” Lisa Mitchell, PhD, is the Director of Education and Audience Engagement at Disney Theatrical Group, where she engages students, teachers, and audiences through Broadway performance and student-driven productions. Current and past field positions include: the Audience Engagement Committee (the Broadway League), the Roger Rees Awards advisory board, the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable board, and the American Alliance for Theatre and Education board. Camp Broadway presents Develop Your Character hosted by Elysa Gardner who talks with theatre insiders about ideas to help culture-loving kids and aspiring artists become great performers at every stage of their lives. This episode features Lisa Mitchell, Director of Education for Disney Theatrical Group, where she oversees Disney Musicals in Schools, a national program committed to developing sustainable theatre programs in schools that don’t have one. The program is currently in 400 schools across 26 cities and positively impacts over 43,000 students annually. Lisa discovered theatre as a student whose academics were significantly improved through engaging in school productions. Today she is one of Broadway’s thought leaders advancing the field of educational theatre. Lisa discusses the important role that teaching artists play in classrooms and offers practical advice for educators who want to provide theatre arts instruction to their students. She believes that the most important resource is “human creativity” and encourages kids who are interested in the arts to “try everything.” By engaging in the theatre in school or after school, kids will see that there are so many aspects to the field and many personal benefits they will receive whether or not they aspire to a career in the sector. Over the course of the next 8 weeks I'll be sharing clips from the sessions at the 2018 You Are Stronger Than You Think Women's Event. "You Are Stronger Than You THink" is a lifestyle and leadership event for go-getter women and teen girls. Our yearly event is practical and inspirational. It's a leadership event with the soul of a Christian women's conference. We laugh. We cry, but we also provide incredible leadership advice for women and girls. (photo credit: Crystal Clear Photography) In this week's episode you will listen in on a dynamic session that speaks to women in all areas of leadership: Our signature #WorkYourPlan Purpose Panel The You Are Stronger Than You Think Women's Event is part Christian women's conference, part business conference. Our #WorkYourPlan Purpose Panel was a perfect illustration of this. Our panelists were Khalilah Elliott of Disney Theatrical Group, Pamela Slim of Ke' Small Business Learning Lab, Evelyn Gaskin of Leadership Excellence Development Academy and Angela Sticca Snyder of Taxanista. The discussion was moderated by Isha Cogborn of Epiphany Institute. The panel discussion was worth the price of admission. I love the combination of practical and spiritual wisdom shared by all our panelists. In this session we dive into... why when we are given a seat at the table we must use our voice answering the question: how do you get people to take you seriously in a new endeavor when you're known for trying multiple things? what it means to say yes to the call of God on YOUR life how to continue to trust God in the race of faith when life doesn't unfold in the way you expected and so much more... This entire series is going to benefit you if... you’re stuck and you aren’t moving forward with the plans you sense are from God, because you fear making mistakes or failing in front of others. you struggle with identifying your strengths and how to use them to make a contribution to yourself, your family and others. you need a plan of simple actions you can take to start dreaming and living again. Show Notes: You Are Stronger Than You Think Women's Event Episode Quote: "It's always the work. Show the Work." - Pam Slim "You're in the room. It's actually a disservice to the people who saw something in you to not use your voice." - Khalilah Elliott "Is preaching the Gospel sexy you bet it is? Changing lives with the word of God...is sexy. Walking in your purpose and being fulfilled...is sexy. If you say yes to the cause and the call for your life and you never look back, God is going to bless you!" - Min Evelyn Gaskin Subscribe to the StrongHer Podcast and published episodes will come right to the podcast app on your phone and/or join our email list for a daily email reminder when a new episode is ready. Disney fans rejoice! On this weeks episode we celebrate and discuss Disney on Broadway and Disney Theatricals including "Beauty and the Beast", "The Lion King", "Newsies", "The Little Mermaid", & "Aladdin". That and so much more on this weeks episode.
The people at Disney Theatrical Group, who produce the company’s live shows, have certainly had a genie in a bottle for the past 20 years, coming up with hit stage musicals based on the films "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Mary Poppins," "The Little Mermaid" and others. But now they’re letting that genie out: "Aladdin," the 1992 film that featured Robin Williams as the voice of the genie, has joined the ranks of Disney’s screen-to-stage properties. With songs by Alan Mencken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, a new book by Beguilin and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw, Aladdin is playing at the New Amsterdam Theater stage, where New York Times theater critic Charles Isherwood saw it. Here’s his report.
