Amphibia fans by and large want to know one thing above all: Will Anne Boonchuy ever find her missing shoe? I recently spoke with the show's creator and executive producer Matt Braly about that very fact, along with all things Amphibia ahead of the series' Season 2 premiere, Saturday, July 11th (8:20 p.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW. We chatted about how fan reactions from Season 1 led to some interesting changes as Braly and his creative team shaped Season 2 and beyond; Season 3 of Amphibia has already been ordered, after all. We also talked about how the ongoing pandemic forced the team to stay flexible in order to bring more episodes to fans around the world as quickly as possible, all while maintaining the high standards we've come to know and love from Disney and Amphibia. Plus, while Season 2 will feature some absolutely incredible multi-part episodes that further explore the fantasy world, it'll also include some unexpected guest stars, like the one-and-only Kermit the Frog. All that and more can be found in our interview listed above! As a refresher for Amphibia, when Season 2 picks up, Anne and the Plantars are on a quest to unlock the mysteries of the music box as they leave the cozy confines of Wartwood for the distant city of Newtopia. On their journey, they will visit exotic new locations, uncover hidden secrets and experience unexpected reunions as they continue to search for a way to get Anne home. The new season will include an homage to Disney's hit Gravity Falls, featuring guest voices from the series' creator/executive producer Alex Hirsch.- Support the Show through Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/saturdaymourningcartoons - Want to find our cohosts online? Subscribe and listen to this episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, GooglePlay, or iHeartRadio! Many of us are feeling more stress and anxiety these days, during this COVID-19 crisis. Our normal routines have changed. Some people are experiencing job losses or health issues. Families are adjusting to parents working from home, and kids home schooling. People who live alone are very isolated.   Fortunately, there are many resources to help reduce stress and anxiety, from the comfort of our homes. My dear friend, Connie Viglietti, is a certified yoga and meditation teacher and a wellness coach. Connie is co-founder of Emaya, a women’s wellness company. She’s also a wife and a mom, and she shares how her family is dealing with stress and anxiety during this trying time. You can connect with Connie at Emaya’s website, or on Facebook or Instagram.  Disney Fun Disney has been creating and releasing for us some great sources of education and entertainment, for both kids and adults.  Disney+ continues to be an amazing source of Disney entertainment. Disney released Frozen II much earlier than anticipated, and it is now available. Onward is available on Disney+ as of April 3rd, and it is available now for digital purchase. Disney+ continues to release more original series, including Disney Insider that started March 20th.  Disney Insider is a documentary series with behind-the-scenes looks on projects in Disney entertainment, in the parks, and more. Connie shares how her family is bonding over the Star Wars franchise entertainment as well. Imagineering in a Box shares 35 free educational videos, lessons by Disney Imagineers on creating the worlds, or parks, and lands within each park; designing attractions, and bringing characters to life.  The Disney Parks Blog is sharing YouTube videos of how-to tutorials called Learn to Draw, on drawing Mickey Mouse through the years. Also, if you search YouTube, there are several similar videos by Disney Parks from 2014 of learning to draw different characters.  Disney Animals on Disney NOW is a Disney Parks video series on the animals at Animal Kingdom. The series offers fun facts on different animals like the meerkat, and behind-the-scenes looks at caring for the animals in Animal Kingdom, like the hippo.  The Play Disney app can now be used at home! This is a free app that has been out for awhile now for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. When you are in the parks, you earn achievements by riding attractions. There are over 40 achievements to earn in Star Wars Land alone. Usually, you have to be in the parks to play games on the app. They are meant to entertain people while waiting in line for attractions. But now, several of the games are available to play at home! Some are single player, and some require multiple players. I enjoyed the Splash Mountain game, which has 15 mini-games in it. The Art of Animation Resort even has a game! Check it out. Are you missing the Disney parks? Visit the theme parks virtually, using Google Maps Street View. Take a walk through Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom’s Pandora, Disney Hollywood Studios (pre-Star Wars Land), and also Universal Studios Florida. I took a virtual walk through the Magic Kingdom. As soon as I saw the Hub and Cinderella’s Castle, I felt my body relax. I played around with going to Adventureland, and it was such a good feeling to see my familiar happy place. Get active with Disney Zumba videos! InsidetheMagic.net has shared 10 Disney Zumba videos to work up a magical sweat. One video is of a young woman stretching and dancing on a beach to “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana as the surf comes in around her feet. I loved it! I can’t wait to do the Zumba video to “Try Everything”, Shakira’s wonderful dance song from Zootopia. And More!   There are so many helpful resources to reduce stress and anxiety beyond Disney. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve found incredibly helpful.  Through Emaya, Connie and Michaela are offering free weekly yoga and meditation to anyone. They are also offering 70% off their Back to HER program, a 40-day program of daily meditation and yoga, along with weekly coaching and transformational work sessions to get in touch with who we are and what we want. They are also launching Do Less & Be More, a 7-day empowerment program for women that is very affordable. This program gives you tools to do less and be more, be your brightest.   Gabrielle Bernstein, best-selling author and spirituality teacher, offered on March 29th a free online anxiety relief workshop, and replays are available for free on her website. In the workshop, Gabby shared 7 different tactics to help relieve anxiety. I found it incredibly helpful. Gabby also has several free guided meditations on YouTube. The Insight Timer app is a wonderful resource for all different types of guided meditations and talks by spiritual teachers and authors, or to use as a timer with background sounds offered while you sit in meditation. Recently, I discovered Elizabeth Gilbert’s talk about facing fear with compassion, related to this coronavirus crisis. It was very helpful to me. Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of “Eat Pray Love” and several other books. Brene Brown, one of my favorite authors and speakers on vulnerability and shame, just launched a podcast, and I am so glad! The podcast is called Unlocking Us. The last episode from March 27th was so relevant to how I’m feeling right now, that we are past the initial burst of adrenaline when we went into survival mode, and we are seeing this is not going to end quickly, and we are feeling major fatigue. I can’t speak highly enough of this podcast and Brene Brown. I lived in New York City for 15 years before I moved to Tampa nearly 2 years ago. I love the performing arts, and the performing arts in New York have a special place in my heart. The Metropolitan Opera is offering free encore performances, streaming nightly starting at 7:30 PM EST.  Broadway stars are posting many videos online of spur-of-the-moment performances. Broadway World kicked off a Living Room Concert series and it’s just like it sounds - former and current Broadway stars singing in their living rooms.  My new favorite feel-good show is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, on HGTV. Hosted by Modern Family’s Jesse Ferguson, this uplifting show shines the light brightly on giving to those who deserve it, the goodness in people, the importance of community, and how wonderful it is to help others. It’s the perfect show for this moment in time. Have a box of tissues close by, because I cried a lot watching the first 2 episodes!  Thank you for listening! I hope you found these resources helpful to you, as you and your loved ones continue navigating through these uncharted waters during this coronavirus crisis.  Do you have Disney travel questions? The First Order plot was front and center in the latest episode of Star Wars Resistance, which is titled, "The Doza Dilemma". Right from the start we were treated to another First Order plot to undermine the Colossus, and we got to see it play out in full, so both Nick and I felt this was a very strong episode. https://youtu.be/RP-PNK9jCRQ Of course we breakdown all aspects of the episode starting with its Easter eggs and franchise references, all the way to a full on review of its best parts and overall contributions to the franchise. We spend quite a bit of time on Synara, and how her predicament is starting to affect her ability to both pirate, and be a good friend to Kaz and Torra. I speculated long ago that she will either fully turn to the good side, or sacrifice herself to save Kaz or Torra, and this episode definitely reinforced those beliefs with me. The new episode - "The First Order Occupation" - will also be available SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd (12:01 a.m. PT) on the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel VOD, giving kids and families access to the series wherever and whenever they want to watch.

All of the news for the week of November 30, 2018. Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom has been my favorite extra event for awhile now, so the options to be able to do a similar thing at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios starting next week seem super exciting to me. (In fact, people with short trips who want to do as much as possible might even consider skipping regular park tickets and instead choose to attend After Hours to pack in as much as possible.) Here's our overviews of the After Hours event for each of the parks that offer it: Animal Kingdom After Hours Hollywood Studios After Hours Magic Kingdom After Hours Reservations are now open for Gran Destino, the new tower at Coronado Springs that will open up in July 9, 2019. Rooms start at $261/night. We learned this week about the 2 new restaurants that will be at Gran Destino. Three Bridges Bar and Grill will be located on an island on the Lago Dorado lake at Gran Destino. And then a rooftop Table Service restaurant called Toledo will offer great views of Disney World. Reservations for dining aren't available yet, but we'll keep you posted when they are. Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy opens in spring at Hollywood Studios. You can preview it now in the DisneyNOW app (go to the 19 minute mark to see the preview), or watch the Disney Channel on December 1 at 8 p.m. eastern to see it there. Due to work on the upcoming Tron coaster, the Magic Kingdom railroad is expected to be closed December 3, 2018 - January 5, 2019. And due to Disney Skyliner work, the Friendship boats are not taking guests to the International Gateway at Epcot through early December. Guests can still take the boats to Epcot-area resorts and Hollywood Studios, and they can choose to walk to the International Gateway.

Thanks to Darth Real Life, it’s been a while since our last episode. Hyperspace Theories returns with a conversation about the exciting new developments in Star Wars television. First, though, we briefly discuss some of the other recent Star Wars news. Episode IX has begun filming, and several new cast members were announced. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy’s contract has been extended through 2021, though Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed a slowdown in the pace of Star Wars movie production following Episode IX. There may be fewer films in the works for the moment, but Star Wars television is surging ahead. Our meta segment considers the announcement of The Mandalorian, a live-action series for the upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service from Disney. The show’s creator, executive producer, and writer is Jon Favreau, whose extensive body of work includes Iron Man and Iron Man 2 for Marvel, the live-action Jungle Book and The Lion King for Disney, his own project Chef, and directing episodes of Revolution and The Orville for television. He also has a history with Star Wars, voicing Mandalorian Death Watch leader Pre Viszla on The Clone Wars. Another figure from that series, Dave Filoni, has a prominent part in The Mandalorian: he is an executive producer and will direct its first episode. We speculate about the influences Favreau and Filoni will bring to the live-action show, and how its release on the streaming service might affect the tone and content of its episodes. We also share our thoughts on the other episodic directors announced for the project: Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). Like Lucasfilm, our storytelling segment revisits The Clone Wars after the news from the summer that twelve more episodes are in production. We speculate about which remaining untold story arcs might appears in these new episodes, based on information previously revealed at Star Wars Celebration panels and some arcs already produced in other formats, such as Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir. Based on the trailer, the long-awaited “Siege of Mandalore” story appears to be included, which will create connections with existing arcs of The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith, the Ahsoka novel, and Star Wars Rebels. We also share in the fandom’s excitement to see more stories from The Clone Wars and the return of the fan-favorite voice cast. For our world-building segment we analyze the premiere episodes of Star Wars Resistance, the new animated series airing on the Disney Channel. We start with the galaxy-level world-building in the series, including the New Republic, the Resistance, and the First Order at a point in time six months before The Force Awakens. We then turn to the Colossus, the fuel depot and its residents that serve as the location for the first season, and discuss how the characters and their story arcs are constructed with that environment in mind. (Note: if you have not yet seen the show, this part of our discussion includes major spoilers for the opening episode, “The Recruit,” and some references to the following episodes, “The Triple Dark” and “Fuel for the Fire,” which are available for early viewing through DisneyNOW, Hulu, and other providers.)
