How can a team with so much potential find themselves in such a precarious position? Join me, James Johnson, for a solo episode on the Touchdown Jaguars podcast as I discussed the Jags' rocky path so far. From a disheartening 1-5 record to a tough loss against the Chicago Bears in London Sunday, I dissected the game's unexpected twists and what went wrong. We'll also delve into the off-field drama, including notable comments from owner Shad Khan and player Andre Cisco, alongside the implications of trading Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seattle Seahawks. The Jaguars' offensive woes continue to be a hot topic, and we leave no stone unturned. Trevor Lawrence's valiant efforts are juxtaposed against Evan Ingram's impressive return, while Gabe Davis's inconsistent play raises eyebrows. We'll question the curious roster choices, like favoring D'Ernest Johnson over Tank Bigsby, and the defensive penalties that paved the way for the Bears' victory. With Travis Etienne likely to sidelined due to injury, there's a spotlight on Tank Bigsby's opportunity to shine, and the importance of managing injuries to players like Tyson Campbell becomes ever more pressing.Amidst the turmoil, we examine the bigger picture, questioning the Jaguars' cultural and managerial challenges. Are Doug Pederson and Trent Baalke the right leaders for this struggling team? Shad Khan's questionable support of the duo is put under the microscope, as we explore the potential need for a fresh start and new leadership. With Andre Cisco's candid insights, we paint a comprehensive picture of a team in need of transformation. As we edge closer to our milestone 100th episode, we remain committed to supporting the Jaguars community through these turbulent times.Touchdown Jaguars LinktreeDownload the SeatGeek app & use code " TOUCHDOWNJAGUARS " for $20 off your first SeatGeek order! James Johnson and Phil Smith bring you the best and most up to date Jacksonville Jaguars news. "Touchdown Jaguars!" is a tribute to the prospective ownership group "Touchdown Jacksonville!" In 1991, the NFL announced plans to add two expansion teams and "Touchdown Jacksonville!" announced its bid for a team, and Jacksonville was ultimately chosen as one of five finalists. In November 1993, the NFL owners voted 26–2 in favor of awarding the 30th franchise to Jacksonville. James and Phil have been fans of the franchise ever since and have had the honor (and sometimes dishonor) of covering the team professionally since 2017. The rest as they say, is history.

In this episode of Down in Duval, we're joined by special guest Brian, who is a Jaguars fan and Twitter user. We dive deep into the Jaguars' 2023 free agency moves and discuss how these moves will impact the team's future success. Please note that since the recording of this episode, some of the information may have changed. For example, Calais Campbell has since signed with the Falcons, and Marvin Jones has signed back with the Lions. We start by analyzing the key signings of D'Ernest Johnson, Michael Dogbe, and Henry Mondeaux, and how they fit into the Jaguars' roster. We discuss their strengths and weaknesses, and how they will contribute to the team's success on the field. Next, we talk about the franchise tag placed on Evan Engram, and whether it was the right move for the Jaguars. We discuss Engram's performance in the league, his potential impact on the team, and what this means for the Jaguars' tight end position. Throughout the episode, we also touch on other free agency moves made by the Jaguars, such as the release of Shaq Griffin, and how they will affect the team's overall strategy going forward. Chris Tilly holds a joint Ph.D. in Economics and Urban Studies and Planning from MIT. For over thirty years, Tilly has conducted research on bad jobs and how to make them better. His current research includes ongoing examination of how implementation of digital technologies is transforming US retail jobs, as well as separate research on informal worker organizing around the world. Prior to becoming an academic, he spent seven years doing labor and community organizing. His books include Half a Job: Bad and Good Part‑Time Jobs in a Changing Labor Market, Stories Employers Tell: Race, Skills, and Hiring in America, The Gloves-Off Economy: Labor Standards at the Bottom of America's Labor Market, and Are Bad Jobs Inevitable? Geoff Gusoff is a family medicine physician and public health fellow with the National Clinician Scholars Program at UCLA. His public health work focuses on the health impacts of community ownership models including worker-owned cooperatives and community land trusts. He has worked with solidarity economy projects in Peru and El Salvador and helped develop a worker-owned construction cooperative with day laborers in Philadelphia. Eliza Jane Franklin is a UCLA Urban and Regional Planning graduate student. In partnership with Cooperation LA, Earnest researched, “How to Start a Worker Co-Op in LA” 2021. As a part of his research, he developed a land use analysis to describe the opportunities for potential restaurants within the city of Los Angeles. The team conducted a case assessment of local restaurant owners to forecast the potential conflicts an aspiring group may face. Once collected, in conjunction with the resources provided by Los Angeles City Planning and the Department of Bureau and Street and Services a toolkit was created. The goal of the deliverable was to present a conclusive examination of the zoning where restaurants could be applicable and the complimentary facets of permitting, fees, parking, and community cohesiveness. It is hoped that the tool kit will be a catalyst for more equitable representation within the food sector in Los Angeles.
What's up, Browns fans! The Browns wrapped up the 2021 NFL season with their series sweep against the Cincinnati Bengals in a 21-16 victory that pitted backup against backups. Yes, it was very much like another exhibition game, but we did get to see Nick Chubb for a bit, along with many defensive starters. If this was indeed Jarvis Landry's final game as a Brown, he definitely went out on a solid performance. And we can't not mention yet another studly performance from D'Ernest Johnson. So let's talk about some things aside from the game. Will Jarvis be back next season in Cleveland? And what was with all the Mary Kay Cabot reporting and Baker firing back over the past week. We're only a few days removed from the end of the season, and the offseason is already off with a bang! Jace breaks down the bevy of Week 11 injuries and what that means for the likes of Jeff Wilson Jr. and Michael Gallup, who will step into bigger roles. Can you play D'Ernest Johnson with Nick Chubb back? What's up, Browns fans! The Browns square off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in our first divisional game of the 2021 season. But let's not kid ourselves--the Big Ben coming into Cleveland is now the Big Has-Ben, and our defensive pass rush could (c'mon, Joe Woods!) wreak havoc on the future Hall-of-Famer. The Steelers offensive line is a joke, so the Browns should be able to bottle up rookie running back Najee Harris. The key thing the Browns need to focus on is stopping the big plays. In a divisional matchup where we might not have our starting quarterback, it's going to come down to whether or not we can stop the Steelers from hurting us on one or two big plays to define the game. Chase Claypool is a talented deep threat that could exploit the Browns shaky pass coverage, and Dionte Johnson is a chain-moving receiver who can easily convert 3rd downs. But Kevin Stefanski has shown he can play to his players' strengths to win pivotal games. Hopefully Nick Chubb will be back, and the emergence of D'Ernest Johnson should help the Browns dominate in the run game yet again. The Browns are on a two-game winning streak against the Steelers, so let's get out there and make it three! --Contents of this episode----- ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 0:00 - Intro 2:40 - Game preview: Browns vs Steelers 22:27 - The Dawgs Pick E'm 34:20 - Dawgs After Hours preview Head over to our NEW website at https://www.thedawgspodcast.com/ (https://www.thedawgspodcast.com) and send us a voicemail with your thoughts or record an intro for an upcoming episode. Week 7 provided the lopsided decisions we expected, but there were some surprises along the way as well. We share our thoughts on an interesting weekend of games in the NFL. We discuss Roger Goodell's handling of the Washington Football Team Investigation and speculate on what he could be hiding. Then it's on to Week 8 as we bring the epic not-so-expert analysis and predictions for Halloween weekend. And in a contrast from last week, some of these picks are very difficult to make. Plus, our new segment "What's Bothering the Minorities?" debuts as we look at what can be done to set up a level playing field in college sports, especially in the FBS football world. What's up, Browns fans! It was an impressive bounce-back win on Thursday Night Football as the Browns beat the Denver Broncos 17-14. Though it ended as a 3-point victory, it sure felt like more. The Browns were in control from the first kick, and it never seemed like the game was in any sort of jeopardy. Case Keenum started for the injured Baker Mayfield and played well in a last-minute call-to-action. The defense stepped up and stifled the Broncos offense all game. But the biggest performance of the night came from our very own 2020 Dawg Pound Dawg Award Winner: D'Ernest Johnson! Johnson slashed the Broncos with 22 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown. The only negatives of this game were the tumultuous injuries that continue to pile up. Jarvis played and looked stellar, though he limped off toward the end. Denzel Ward left with an injury, and the Browns could very well be facing the Steelers without Baker at the helm. And what's a good Dawgs Podcast episode without some arguments? Blake thinks Odell Beckham is still an elite-level wide receiver and Baker is the problem. Josh thinks Baker is at his best without Odell because Odell's elite days are long gone. What's up, Browns fans! What's left of the Browns will be facing the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football this week. The injuries have piled up beyond measure, but good teams in the NFL find ways to overcome and elevate their backups and depth pieces to solid performances when needed. And we look for the Browns to make a statement in a primetime spot. At the time of this recording, we still don't know if Baker Mayfield or Case Keenum will be starting this game. Baker is scheduled to have a follow-up MRI, so we're still waiting to hear the results. But one thing's for sure--if his shoulder is ok, Baker will be out there fighting for his team. We need D'Ernest Johnson to carry much of the load on offense, but most importantly our defense needs to step up and dominate this game to help out our depleted offense. No more excuses for this defense. We have studs all across the defensive roster. The coaching, play calling and scheming need to improve in a big way. And imposing our will on Teddy Bridgewater is exactly the way to get this team pointed back in the right direction. It's still not too late to join our FREE Pick 3 league on SimBull. The state of Missouri this week executed Ernest Johnson, 61, who was convicted of murdering three people in 1994. His attorneys argued he was ineligible for the death penalty because multiple IQ tests had shown he had the mental capacity of a child.
In this segment of By Any Means Necessary, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Robert Dunham, the Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center to discuss the controversy surrounding the execution of Ernest Lee Johnson, an intellectually disabled man who was convicted of murder in Missouri, how this case further exposes the brutality of the death penalty and states' wielding of it, the growing shift in attitudes against the death penalty among the public and politicians alike, and the disproportionate use of the death penalty against working and poor people of color and the most vulnerable in our society.

The report estimated that hundreds of thousands of children were abused in the French Church over the past 70 years. Pope Francis said he felt pain for the trauma that victims have endured, and shame that the Church had not adequately addressed the crisis. Missouri executed Ernest Johnson on Tuesday, despite pleas for clemency by the Holy See. The 61-year-old Black man was sentenced to death for murdering three people in the 90s. His lawyers had argued that he was intellectually disabled, and should be spared the death penalty. The Holy See pointed out his humanity, and the sacredness of all human life. True freedom flows from the Cross of Christ. That was the message of Pope Francis today, during his general audience in Rome. The pope said the Cross of Christ frees us from slavery to sin. He said it is difficult to remain free from sin, but it is possible to make progress during one's lifetime. Today, the Church remembers Saint Bruno, the founder of the Carthusian order of monks.
KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman joins host George Sells to ramp up the level of excitement for tomorrow night’s Wild Card game between the Cardinals and Dodgers in Los Angeles. After a few Cardinals calls, Sells turns his attention to the national news regarding the controversial execution of Ernest Johnson for a 1994 triple homicide. Finally, Julie Bauke, President and Chief Career Strategist of The Bauke Group, joins Sells to discuss the disappearance of the workforce.
Un hombre fue ejecutado en Misuri (EE.UU.) a pesar de las peticiones de clemencia de sus defensores, quienes alegaron que tenía una discapacidad intelectual.

Sarah studied criminology and talks about methods of execution. The ACLU botched a quote from RBG. Renaming Fort Hood. State Rep. Craig Fishel filed a Sunshine Law request demanding that Springfield's public schools turn over three years' worth of staff emails and other documents with references to critical race theory. In response, the school district is demanding a deposit of at least $170,000 to get started. Dee shares his weight loss update.
Ernest Johnson was executed in Missouri, yesterday. Johnson had been on death row for over 25 years after being convicted of the 1994 murder of three people. However, pleas for clemency from his supporters, including Pope Francis, intensified recently, saying Johnson's intellectual disabilities made the execution unconstitutional and immoral. The FDA's advisory committee will be considering more booster shots, next week, as well as Pfizer vaccines for young children. Also, the drug company Merck said that its pill to treat COVID-19 reduced the risk of hospitalization among high risk people by 50 percent in a clinical trial. And in headlines: a report found the French Catholic Church abused more than 200,000 minors over the last 70 years, Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen testified before the Senate, and a Russian film crew arrived at the International Space Station to make history. A daily news briefing from Catholic News Agency, powered by artificial intelligence. Ask your smart speaker to play “Catholic News,” or listen every morning wherever you get podcasts. www.catholicnewsagency.com - The Holy See has asked the governor of Missouri to cancel the scheduled execution of Ernest Johnson. Johnson was sentenced to death for murdering three people in the 90s. The papal nuncio to the United States emphasized Johnson's humanity, and the sacredness of all human life. He said all of society benefits when violence is restrained, including the violence of a legal execution. Johnson is scheduled to be executed tomorrow. A 78-year old Cardinal has been hospitalized with COVID-19, after traveling to the International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest last month. The cardinal had been fully vaccinated last May. He is being treated at a hospital in northern Italy, where he served as an archbishop until his retirement last year. Pope Francis has asked countries around the world to work quickly toward net zero carbon emissions. The environmental plea was a joint statement with dozens of international religious leaders. The pope presented the statement to the head of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference. Greatness is found in placing one's hope entirely in the Lord. That was the message of Pope Francis on Sunday, during his Angelus address in Rome. The pope said the secret to greatness is not self-sufficiency, but smallness, and trust in God. He encouraged Catholics to ask the Blessed Virgin Mary for the grace of humility, and trust in God. Today is the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. The Italian deacon is remembered for selling everything to devote his life to God. He received the stigmata - or the wounds of Christ. He was canonized in 1228, two years after his death.
This week on Progressive News Network, Jeanine will discuss the gross miscarriage of justice taking place in Missouri right now. Death Row inmate Ernest Johnson is scheduled to be executed this Tuesday by lethal injection. He was convicted of three grisly murders, yet the evidence also implicates an accomplice who was at the scene as well. That accomplice took a deal with the prosecutor to testify against Ernest Johnson in return for being spared the death penalty. What has concerned a multitude of advocacy groups is the plain fact that Ernest Johnson is IDD (Intellectually & Developmentally Disabled). Some disability experts estimate his communication skills at the level of a 5-year-old child. The Supreme Court ruled those persons with intellectual disabilities are to be spared the death penalty, yet the Missouri Supreme Court, the prosecutors in the case, and the community at large don't care. One last thing--Ernest Johnson is a black man and the murder victims were white. Add to this toxic stew that this took place in rural Missouri---and you have a perfect storm for a lynch mob mentality. Governor Mike Parson has the power to set aside the execution and relinquish Ernest to life in prison, and members of the Baptist Church, (of which Parson is a member) are pleading for compassion. Governor Parson has not responded to date. Come join us. Brook Hines examines "How Democracy Ends." Go on over to The Lefty Lounge on Anchor for the rest of the story. https://www.change.org/save-ernest-johnson Please take a moment read this petition and share it as well. We have nearly 20k signatures and would appreciate your support. Ernest Johnson is an Intellectually & Developmentally Disabled (IDD) Black man who is set to be executed on Oct 5th, 2021. In 2002 the US Supreme Court ruled that it is unconstitutional to execute people with IDD, yet still today, as was stated in the 1857 Dred Scott Court decision, "... they (Black people) had no rights which the white man was bound to respect"; 66% of the people with IDD sentenced to death are Black, majority male. I am working to uplift Ernest's humanity and offer him the concern, support and compassion that he's been denied his entire life. Please help me in doing this by signing this petition. Thank you. On February 12th, 1994, Ernest Lee Johnson and his ex-girlfriends two sons participated in the botched robbery of Casey's General Store that took three victims' lives: Mable Scruggs, Mary Bratcher and Fred Jones. Mr Johnson has no recollection of the murders, was in despair and had been drinking and smoking crack in the hours after his ex-girlfriend broke up with him. A Black man with intellectual disabilities and no former, violent convictions, he was convicted by an ill-informed, all-white jury with the help of Boone County, Missouri, Prosecuting Attorney, Kevin Crane. Ernest Johnson now faces an execution date of October 5th, 2021. This week, we spoke with Elyse Max, State Director of Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty about the life of Ernest Johnson, the media and court situation he faced, his twice overturned death penalty, the links between the lynching of Black people in the US and the current death penalty, intersections of race and class in who are the victims of capital cases and who sit on death rows, the mishandling of Ernests intellectual disability in the case and other topics. Welcome to Majority.FM's AM QUICKIE! Brought to you by justcoffee.coop TODAY'S HEADLINES: A new coronavirus variant that has been ravaging India is now spreading throughout the UK and other European countries, and could pose problems in communities that haven’t yet received a vaccine. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court turns down a request by a Mississippi inmate on death row who asked to be executed by a firing squad. And lastly, George Floyd died one year ago today, and while activists have won some victories in the struggle since, police department funding is rising again as the status quo re asserts itself. THESE ARE THE STORIES YOU NEED TO KNOW: The new coronavirus variant that has been fueling India’s out of control epidemic has made its way to Europe, where researchers are starting to get a picture of what it represents for the future of the pandemic. First, some good news: existing vaccines still offer pretty high levels of protection against this variant. But like others before it, there is evidence that it is more infectious, according to a report by the New York Times. So far, the U.S. has only detected 800 cases of this specific variant, which is called B dot 1 dot 617 dot 2. You’d be forgiven for not keeping track of all these numbered variants -- there’s a simpler way to interpret this news. The newer variants of the virus are more infectious, which means they eventually slowly replace the older strains in places they make it to. What this means is that they’ll be particularly dangerous to unvaccinated communities, and as both America and the general global vaccination efforts slow down, this is what we’re going to be dealing with. The Times reports that people who have only gotten one shot of the vaccine should still be careful, as the more infectious strains are more resistant to the vaccine. In other words, like most of the scary news of new variants, the advice here is the same: keep track of your own risks and stay safe until you’re fully vaxxed. Supreme Court Turns Down Firing Squad Request The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a request from Mississippi death row inmate Ernest Johnson, who asked to be executed by firing squad. The Court’s conservative majority voted to not hear the case, despite strong dissent from the bench’s liberals. Johnson suffers from epilepsy, and was requesting a firing squad as he fears that lethal injection will cause incredibly painful seizures. The Court’s liberals fiercely argued for Johnson’s right to choose his death. While a firing squad may be unusual and barbaric, evidence suggests that it’s also a much quicker and less painful death than lethal injection or the electric chair. Stephen Breyer wrote in his dissent that Johnson’s petition was simple. Quote: “In other words, he asks that the courts decide between an execution that is ‘cruel’ and one that is ‘unusual.” Johnson had previously petitioned to be executed with nitrogen gas rather than lethal injection, and was turned down by a lower federal court. He then tried to amend this petition to request the firing squad, which was the decision the Supreme Court decided not to hear. One Year Since George Floyd George Floyd died one year ago today. After months of protests, activists won some key reforms, but now the status quo is creeping back in. The New York Times reports that major cities like Los Angeles are starting to funnel money back to their police departments after getting spooked by a rise in violent crime statistics. LA is hiring 250 more cops less than a year after city leaders promised to take $150 million away from the LAPD. The right wing has leaned into the narrative of crime surges, and placed the blame squarely on movements like defunding the police. Research shows, of course, that surges in crime are often linked to gaps in social services and economic hardship, which have swept the country during the pandemic. And some of the biggest changes activists seek do little to defund police, instead seeking to hold them accountable. New York City moved earlier this year to become the first city to end qualified immunity for its police forces, a major change that would let people file civil suits against cops who abuse their power. But on a national level, even those small changes have stalled. On Monday, for instance, the Supreme Court declined to take up a case that would have challenged qualified immunity on a broader scale. What this means is that this fight is far from over -- and we can only hope that elected officials feel just as much pressure from the people this summer as they did last. AND NOW FOR SOME QUICKER QUICKIES: After Belarus’s shocking abduction of a journalist on a civilian airliner this weekend, European officials agreed to level sanctions against the dictator Aleksadr Lukashenko’s regime, also moving to stop E.U. airlines from flying into Belarus’s airspace, which would be a significant blow to the country’s economy. The Washington Post reports that the Biden administration is moving to let more government employees than ever to work from home even after the pandemic ends, continue the experiment in remote work that the federal government has been slow to adopt. Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey and other democrats reintroduced legislation on Monday to slash spending to the U.S.’s massive nuclear arsenal, dubbing it the Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures Act, or SANE. They promise that it will save $73 billion over the next decade, if it passes. And finally, New York City, once the epicenter of the U.S.’s coronavirus outbreak, has announced that it will not have any form of remote learning starting next school year, heralding that the city expects to be fully back open by that time. Had you ever heard of D'Ernest Johnson before he ran for 95 yards on the Cowboys last Sunday? Either way, he's certainly more prominent now than he was a week ago. But that doesn't mean Adam and Matt agree on how to treat him with waiver bids this week. Johnson isn't even the 1st RB we'll discuss, though, and there's a sizable list of wideouts to sort. Here's the rundown: FFPC weekend ... 3:26 RBs ... 7:22 WRs ... 23:37 TE/QB ... 39:21 Check out our Week 5 Free Agent Focus ( https://www.draftsharks.com/article/week-5-free-agent-focus-2020 ) , as well as our rankings for Week 5 ( https://www.draftsharks.com/weekly-rankings/ ) and the rest of the season ( https://www.draftsharks.com/rest-of-way/ ).

Psalm 23, by Z. Randall StroopeThe Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Lauda, lauda!Through death's dark valleys no fear will I know. Lauda. My head is covered with the finest oil, my cup runneth over. Lauda, lauda!Surely goodness and mercy will follow!Green pastures, still waters, the Lord provides! Lauda, lauda. My soul restores, my heart renews. Lauda, lauda! The Lord prepares me a table. Lauda. No fear have I from my foesThe Lord anoints me, guards me, loves me.The Lord provides me with a rod and staff. They comfort and guide me. Lauda, lauda!Oh, surely goodness and mercy shall follow! And in the house of the Lord I will dwell forever! Lauda lauda!Sung by the West Potomac HS Symphonic Women's Chorus, directed by Ernest Johnson
