Sompting Community Church online

Guest speaker Mark Langham Speaks on Matthew 13 44-46 at our sunday service on 070626

Community Christian Church

The Kingdom of God is not a heavy obligation to carry. It is a treasure worth giving everything to possess. In Matthew 13, Jesus compares the Kingdom to a hidden treasure in a field and a pearl of great value. In both stories, the response is the same: joyful surrender. The people who discovered the treasure did not focus on what they were giving up. They focused on what they had found. Yet many of us approach our faith differently. We see Christianity as a spiritual to-do list, a set of obligations, or a series of sacrifices that drain us rather than delight us. This message confronts that mindset by asking a simple question: Have we truly recognized the value of the King and His Kingdom? Drawing from the modern treasure hunt of Forrest Fenn and the words of Paul in Philippians 3, we are reminded that when something is genuinely valuable, sacrifice stops feeling like sacrifice. It becomes a privilege. Duty drains you. Delight drives you. When we see Jesus for who He is, surrender is no longer a burden. It becomes the greatest exchange we could ever make.

“Today is all about 7's…”   We can't believe it…it's officially been SEVEN years since we began our podcasting journey, and as of this episode, we are celebrating SEVEN years of heavy metal podcasting excellence!  And in the spirit of heavy metal greatness, what better way to celebrate and commemorate the completion of our SEVENTH year than a tribute to the best thing MTV ever did for metal heads that started way back in the late 80's: HEADBANGERS BALL!!!   “It was the novelty, because that was the only place where you could get it…”   Premiering on Saturday April 18, 1987, MTV began what would become a weekly Saturday night tradition and/or ritual for metal heads with HEADBANGERS BALL, the one section of MTV that belonged to the metal community…it was OUR show, OUR music, and OUR videos, made by metal heads for metal heads (ironically, not unlike this podcast).   “SEVEN!”   Granted, there were often a lot of glam and hair metal videos mixed in, but there were always a plethora of obscure thrash, power metal, and other assorted heavy metal videos on there that you absolutely could not see anywhere else on MTV except for when you tuned in to “The Ball” (NOTE:  this is where the crochety “back in my day” sentiment comes into play because, as everyone with access to the internet knows, in the late 80's, rock radio sure as hell wasn't doing much to promote metal artists, and we certainly didn't have Spotify or YouTube at our disposal. “The Ball” was all we had…mark the time.).   “They weren't Trans then, dude…they were 100% dudes and they were the Savatage Brothers…”   Break out your finest relaxers and get ready for a celebratory stroll down memory lane, and understand that since we're discussing music videos, you're gonna need all the sensory enhancement you can muster to thoroughly maximize your enjoyment of this episode. Find out who's “lips are always out”, understand why calling a woman “handsome” is a dangerous move even with the proper context, see how many applicable references to “SEVEN!” you can find in this episode, and don't deny the power of “The Dinklage” when you JOIN US as we celebrate our 7th birthday in nostalgic style with HEADBANGERS BALL. Former investment banker Bix Weir rejoins the program for a deep discussion on the manipulation of reality through fiat currencies, global finance, monetary metals and silver. We discuss the endless money printing taking place behind the scenes with little realistic oversight or transparency and the growing concerns surrounding the stability of the global financial system.  Bix shares his perspective on the true role of gold and silver within the monetary system and why he believes there is far more gold in existence than the public has been led to believe. We explore how monetary metals continue to play a central role in global power structures even as governments and central banks publicly downplay their importance. We also discuss the Epstein case and how deeply intertwined it appears to be with powerful institutions, industries and global influence networks. Bix argues that fully exposing the extent of the corruption and compromise could unleash a level of distrust that threatens confidence in the broader system itself.Learn more and follow Bix Weir at RoadtoRoota.comSee exclusives and Webinars at SarahWestall.Substack.comProtect your assets with a company you can trust - Get the private & better price list - Go to SarahWestall.com/MilesFranklin

In this teaching on the parables of the kingdom, the focus centers on how Jesus reveals the nature, growth, and value of God's kingdom through layered illustrations in Matthew 13:1–23 (the Parable of the Sower), explaining the different heart responses to the Word; Matthew 13:24–30 and Matthew 13:36–43 (the Wheat and the Tares), showing the coexistence of the righteous and the wicked until final judgment; Matthew 13:31–32 (the Mustard Seed), emphasizing the kingdom's small beginnings and expansive growth; Matthew 13:33 (the Leaven), illustrating its permeating influence; and Matthew 13:44–46 (the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price), highlighting the surpassing worth of the kingdom that calls for wholehearted surrender—together demonstrating that the kingdom of heaven advances through receptive hearts, grows often in unseen ways, and is of such incomparable value that it demands total commitment from those who truly understand it. You can connect with Moriel in more locations than just YouTube! Paul teaches that believers carry an incredible treasure - the gospel of Jesus Christ - within fragile human bodies he calls jars of clay. When we face trials and hardships, these difficulties act like cracks in clay pots, revealing the precious treasure of Christ within us to the world. Our suffering isn't meaningless; God uses it to display His power and glory through our weakness. Paul calls our troubles light and momentary because he maintains an eternal perspective, knowing that heaven awaits where all pain will cease. The greatest spiritual influence often comes not during easy times, but when others witness believers trusting God through difficulty.

In this sermon, Rev. Dr. Lewis Galloway reflects on Paul's image of the gospel as a treasure carried in "clay jars." Through scripture, storytelling, and deeply human examples, we are reminded that God has always chosen ordinary, imperfect people to bear extraordinary grace. Again and again, God works through those who feel unprepared, wounded, weak, or unsure—from Moses and Isaiah to the disciples and the early church. The power of the gospel does not come from polished appearances or human strength, but from the presence of Christ shining through fragile human lives. This message explores what it means to stop confusing the "clay pot" with the treasure inside it. Our wounds, weaknesses, griefs, and imperfections are not obstacles to God's work—they can become places where healing, hope, and light are shared with others. At a time when fear and exhaustion tempt us to retreat or lose heart, this sermon offers a hopeful reminder: the treasure of the gospel is already within us, and God can use even ordinary lives to bring love, justice, peace, and healing into the world.

“Did you know there are five different places that God has hidden His wisdom from the world, but He's given us a map to find His hidden treasures of wisdom?” In Episode 7 of "Wisdom," Duane Sheriff teaches that while the world searches for answers through human reasoning, Scripture reveals that God has intentionally concealed His wisdom from unbelief, pride, and worldly thinking. Yet through the Holy Spirit, He reveals it to those who pursue Him in faith. In this message, Duane explores five specific places where divine wisdom can be found when we intentionally seek it. To open the door of wisdom, we must ask God in faith, walk in humility, and live in the fear of the Lord—not in terror, but in awe-filled reverence. Wisdom is not merely intellectual knowledge; it is a divine gift that brings long life, riches, honor, happiness, and promotion.Click for FREE offer ➡️https://pastorduane.com/landing/wisdom/
