A LOT has happened since the parent company of Bang Energy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on October 10, 2022. If you checked out my previous comprehensive “Bang Energy Bankruptcy Explained” content about five months ago, you've likely been wondering what's going on at the beverage empire that Jack Owoc built. Well…I've been watching everything closely and read most of those 1000+ court documents, that amounted to thousands of pages, in hopes that I can provide a comprehensive update on the Bang Energy bankruptcy case and breakdown what everything ultimately means for the company and the entire energy drinks market. Firstly, this is a highly contested bankruptcy case that involves A LOT of egos, emotions, and energy drink competitors being among Bang Energy's largest creditors. Secondly, you have many factors at play that is causing the revenue to decline sharply at Bang Energy, including a DSD distribution swap away from PepsiCo, false advertising case with Monster Energy that's causing a packaging changeover, large retailers delisting or deprioritizing Bang Energy for upstarts like GHOST Energy, C4 Energy, RYSE, Alani Nu, and CELSIUS energy drinks, and then Huron Consulting Group implementing a cost optimization plan that put in motion that included a large SKU rationalization, a commercial real estate sale and leaseback strategy, and cuts to marketing spend…just to name some of the actions. Thirdly, Jack Owoc started seeing the writing on the wall and with not many viable options left to save Vital Pharmaceuticals (VPX Sports) that he birthed 30 years ago, Jack Owoc leaked the potential Bang Energy IPO. Next, Bang Energy put out a press release that says the board of directors “acknowledge Jack Owoc's vision in founding this leading brand and creating a world-class product in the energy drink category,” but he has been relieved of his CEO and Chairman of the Board duties. We are now in a full-on hostile takeover situation after I assume Jack Owoc went nuclear when he realized that his most hated rival Monster Energy could very well acquire Bang Energy. I'll explain why I believe Monster Energy would want to acquire Bang Energy, but also consider a few other options with the bankruptcy auction scheduled for April 27th, 2023. Join co-hosts Richard Coyne & Bill Zahller as they interview guests who left successful careers to pursue a different path on the Road Less Traveled Show! In this episode, we spend time with Hermann Tse!  Hermann had a long career in the technical world going from developer to technical architect and eventually to a technology practice Senior Director.  Hermann always had the dream of owning a restaurant and now does!  Hermann did it right, he did not just buy himself another job, Hermann bought a business and improved it so that it supports the lifestyle he wants to lead.   A bit more about Hermann: Hermann earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Western Connecticut State University. After graduating, Hermann's first job at Sikorsky Aircraft was in the Comanche Program. Later, Hermann started at Hyperion Software in the Advanced Technology Group and later moved to the Consulting team as an infrastructure consultant. Hermann rose to be a Consulting Services manager for the infrastructure team and later the Director where he ran the entire infrastructure services team for the US. Hermann also served as the Director of Education in APAC for a year. After Oracle acquired Hyperion, Herman became Consulting Practice Director for EPM Technology and Infrastructure for Oracle Consulting. Hermann later moved to Huron Consulting Group as Senior Director of EPM Technologies, Private Cloud, and Remote Services. Hermann always wanted to own a restaurant but not as a job. In 2018, Hermann retired from his W2 job and bought a successful restaurant.  Hermann then set out to modernize the restaurant with technology.  Herman intended from day one to systematize the restaurant and to hire the right team so that he did not need to be constantly.  In this way, Hermann took a new path that also enabled him to live on his terms. Hermann enjoys family, traveling, cooking, fishing, and collecting high-end watches.   Contact Hermann:      Website: www.dancingavocadokitchen.com FaceBook: @dancingavocadokitchen Instagram: fb.me/dancingavocadokitchen Email: dancingavocadokitchen@gmail.com Linkedin: linkedin.com/in/hermanntse   Contact Bill Zahller Phone: 828-275-5035 Email: Bill@ParkCapitalPartnersLLC.com LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/billzahller   Contact Richard Coyne Phone: 404-245-9732 Email: Richard@ParkCapitalPartnersLLC.com LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/richardjcoyne   If you would like to learn more about: How Park Capital Partners connects investors with passive income-generating opportunities through real estate, Our Park Capital Value-Add Fund (a 506c fund), Our latest multifamily acquisitions, or The Park Capital Partners Foundation, Inc. On this episode, April dives into the importance of having awareness of what is added to the wine you drink and what sets Dry Farm Wines apart from the rest. Little did you know, wine has SO much added ingredients that are not doing good for the body. Dry Farm Wines is different because of the purity and story behind each bottle. Check out at the bottom the promotion you can have by listening! Logan's career is defined by her commitment to making a meaningful impact in areas of environmental sustainability, social impact, and health. Her business journey began with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medicine, Health & Society from Vanderbilt University. From there, she launched into Healthcare Labor Management Consulting at Huron Consulting Group, where she worked to help hospitals reduce cost of care. The American hospital system taught Logan a lesson: health in this country can be reactive, not proactive. Logan decided to take a proactive approach, working for three years in operations for Limeade, a SaaS company focused on improving organizations' employee engagement and wellness. To take her impact to the next level, Logan went back to school. Earning her MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management, Logan focused on social impact and ethical, environmentally sustainable supply chains. This launched her into a new chapter, where she became head of operations for the world's leading Natural Wine brand, Dry Farm Wines. Helping spread sustainable practices and spearhead industry-leading change in everything from farming practices to consumer transparency, Logan continues to push the envelope to make social and sustainable change. As she advances this effort, Logan's eye will always be on helping nourish the next generation of women leaders. Author of the new book Fearlessly Made You: Surviving and Thriving in a Perfectly Imperfect Life. Show notes: https://www.markgraban.com/mistake42 My guest for Episode #42 is Kristie Tobias, author of the new book Fearlessly Made You: Surviving and Thriving in a Perfectly Imperfect Life. You can learn more about Kristie and the book via the book's website. Kristie Tobias is a Consultant with Huron Consulting Group, Coach, National Speaker and she is now, as of this week, a published author with over 15 years of consulting and leadership experience.. She has consulted over 30 organizations on topics focused on change management and leadership, employee engagement, leadership development, business optimization, and financial improvement. Content warning: Kristie does mention instances of being abused in her past. We do not discuss this in detail, but the subject matter might be alarming to some listeners. In the episode, Kristie shares a story about her favorite mistake, earlier in her consulting career, when she was removed from her role working with healthcare C-suite executives. Kristie reflects and shares that she" wasn't honest with herself about the internal work that needed to be done to improve the client" and she "took for granted" that she needed to grow, learn, and move relationships deeper than the surface. She says she can "now look back and laugh" because she has come a long way. We also talk about her book, what a "perfectly imperfect life" means (from the subtitle of her book) and what it means to be a better version of oneself. Here is an article about Kristie using exercise as a way to overcome PTSD. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/favorite-mistake/support
