Many weeks ago now, I saw an article on Patheos called "Remembering the Witch in Witchcraft" that really took off on social media. John Beckett, a Druid Priest and author in our community, jumped into the conversation and wrote a response blog to that original article (linked in the episode notes) and, well, I was still in a quandary about it all.And so, I asked him onto the podcast. I respect John and wanted to think this out with him, especially as a Witch from the Deep South (John also has Southern roots). He was more than open to that and the resulting wonderful conversation gave me quite a bit of fodder to think through for the future. It was a chat worth having! Thank you, John.Sometimes, camouflage is a necessary part of of the Craft. But, as John points out: there are risks in shrouding ourselves for too long, too deeply. We started our conversation with John Beckett thinking that Summit Ministries' "Worldview Chart" would be a perfect starting point to compare his chosen religious path, Paganism and Druidry, with Biblical worldview."This isn't going to work," he said. "It's too simplistic." Boy, was he right! In today's "Worldview Contrasts" episode of Kingdom Culture Conversations, we meet Beckett, a practicing and accomplished polytheistic Pagan and Druid. Within minutes of starting our wonderfully congenial conversation, it becomes apparent that, perhaps and arguably just like Christianity, Paganism is a very diverse tradition. And, yes, a simple chart may not be enough to capture the scope of that diversity. It's going to take a powerfully impactful Kingdom Culture Conversation...To learn more about John Beckett, please visit his blog: Under the Ancient Oaks."Kingdom Culture Conversations" is a podcast created through Frameworks, a Biblical worldview initiative of Northwest Christian School. For more information on Frameworks, please visit: https://frameworks.ncsaz.org/For more information on Northwest Christian School, visit: https://www.ncsaz.org/To reach out to Geoff Brown, please email gbrown@ncsaz.org or you can reach him by cell phone: (623)225-5573.

After scooping the John Beckett memorial cup plus two other Cream Awards last night, Cornish farmer Anthony Wills of Willsbro Holstein joins host Ben Eagle to tell us a bit about his business, the cows, the family and what makes his business resilient. John and Becki comment on the calibre of entries for the Kite sponsored Young Farmer category and discuss the qualities required to thrive in the sector and how the finalists demonstrated these. Plus a small mention for another important award winner. Chris Walkland gives us a detailed milk market update before they all discuss the key themes from yesterday's Dairy Resilience 2030 Conference, including sustainability, genetics, and people.
In this special episode Jason is joined by author Martha Kirby Capo to discuss Witchcraft and Wicca 101 Books! Do "the classics" still resonate in 2022? What should the discerning Witch read today? Is there any reason to read Silver Ravenwolf and Raymond Buckland today? (Both say "yes!" but with caveats!) People love to talk about "recommended reading" and where the best place to start is when learning about Witchcraft. We don't have all the answers in this edition of the podcast, but the discussion (along with the praise and the criticism) is lively!
We, as believers, are called to be God's agents to advance His Kingdom on earth. In order to do that we must extricate the sacred-secular dualism in our minds and understand that Jesus is Lord of all areas of life. We are to live out God's Word in our lives and vocations. When work-related problems arise, do we lean on conventional wisdom, or do we ask God how we should address it? When we learn to listen to Him and go to His word for guidance, we bring His Kingdom into our vocation, and the results will be revealed over time. In this episode, we discuss this with a true leader and practical pioneer in the area of integrating faith and work, businessman John Beckett, author of Loving Mondays: Succeeding in Business Without Selling Your Soul. This week we're talking about... Prayer? I'll be breaking down some misconceptions about prayer and worship. These practices and concepts are MUCH older than Christianity and as pagans, polytheists, and/or magickal practitioners, we can empower ourselves and deepen our spiritual practices by reclaiming these ideas. On the way home from Wellspring, though they were not driving together, Rev. Avende and Rev. Dangler stopped at a rest stop and caught up to remember the event. Held each Memorial Day weekend in northeast Ohio, The Wellspring Gathering is also the ADF annual meeting and this year, site of our Archdruid reinstallation and an ADF Initiation. We got to meet new people and visit with old friends, and try out new camping gear. The Bards of Three Cranes Grove, ADF, played quite a lot of music at the bardic night, and we even gave our own little workshop based on this podcast (with material forthcoming this season)!

Host Paul Sir is joined by Denver Nuggets assistant coach and director of player development John Beckett to talk about the evolution of Jamal Murray and the Nuggets, and Beckett's unique journey to the NBA.
John is one of my favorite voices in the Pagan Community, and we share a lot in common. We've both been writing at Patheos Pagan for eight years, have published several Llewellyn books, and share devotion towards the god Cernunnos. We also both appreciate a great single malt Scotch. In this episode of the podcast John and I wll be talking about all of those things, plus, the start of the NFL Season. John and I also share a love of football, but I promise we won't talk about it for very long, seriously. I'm much more interested in hearing John's take on the changes going on in the Pagan Community these days, Tower Time, and paying devotion to the gods!

Adam & Noah go ISO with Nuggets assistant coach John Beckett. The Eckerd College grad shares his remarkable basketball journey from a production assistant with the Inside the NBA crew and a ticket sales rep with the Atlanta Hawks all the way up to his time as an assistant coach in the NBA. He provides rare insight into this current Nuggets team with a fascinating perspective on Michael Porter Jr., Nikola Jokic, and Jamal Murray. He tells remarkable stories about how he once paid for an open tryout with the same team he's coaching now and how he dealt with angry Hawks fans who wanted their money back when he was working in their ticket sales department. He details his experience as a coach with the Delaware 87ers, having to actually "try out" to become their coach, struggling emotionally when he had the job, and a crazy tale about the worst travel day he ever had in the G League. He details all of the challenges associated with playing games in the NBA's Orlando bubble, including how to work guys out with the current restrictions, how to prepare for the unique nature of the games, and how to balance family life while being quarantined. He also discusses what Charles Barkley is really like behind the scenes, how he never even dreamed of becoming a pro coach, navigating the politics of the NBA, what goes into being a video coordinator, and how player development coaches are being undervalued in the current NBA landscape. -- Rejecting the Screen is part of the Locked On Podcast Network and is released on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Adam & Noah discuss their excitement level for the NBA returning and explain why they each have reservations about what's to come. Since the regular season will only have eight games left, the guys break down what the standings looked like when the season was just eight games old and what can be gleaned from looking back at that marker. They talk about the significance of teams not having home court advantage in these playoffs, how top teams are frustrated about this, and why Adam thinks the Rockets could be a team equipped to excel in this situation. Noah talks about what may be the biggest advantage of all: the ability to manage the mental side of living in the Orlando bubble for an extended period of time. -- Rejecting the Screen is part of the Locked On Podcast Network and is released on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In our 45 minute conversation, Beckett shares his decade long journey to becoming an assistant coach, explains the various duties of a player development coach and assistant coach, and provides some insights into the players he has worked with over the years including Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Will Barton, Nikola Jokic, and Michael Porter Jr.
Welcome to Weird Web Radio! It's a brand new season! Welcome to Season 4! Our first guest this season is also our first repeat guest. Say hello again to John Beckett! John was a guest in season 1 before I started asking occult and pagan guests about the paranormal. He was even here an episode before I started the bonis extended interviews so this was his first time on the merry go round of morbid curiousity! We dig deep into the harder questions of religion and Paganism. We deal with atheist agendas, and yeah, we get into ghosts and folklore too! This one is a closer look into his book Paganism In Depth. Some changes this season include discussion of the guests favorite local folklore in the show rather than the bonus section. I added some new more in depth personal questions to the bonus section as well to see how guests deal with failure and success alike. Episode #1 of the One Zero One podcast features a conversation between Róisín Healy of Version 1 and John Beckett, the CEO & Co-Founder of ChannelSight. In what may be the final episode, Amanda, Aimee, and Jacob reflect upon the podcast with gratitude. Part exploration, part retrospective, and even part mailbag, this episode marks the end of one era and the beginning of another. How does paganism typically handle endings, afterlives, fate, and destiny? What illuminations might be found in our places of uncertainty? Is there power and potential for growth and change in quitting? And what, if anything, might be next? For modern Pagans, what does pilgrimage mean? Largely removed from the paths, places, and practices of ancient Paganism, what is pilgrimage like for us? And what does it mean? Today I am joined by John Beckett founder and CEO of Seed. His passion is helping individuals and organisations to develop and articulate a clear sense of identity and purpose, and to find the places where their own stories fit with God’s story and God’s purposes. John is the Founder and CEO of Seed. His passion is helping individuals and organisations to develop and articulate a clear sense of identity and purpose, and to find the places where their own stories fit with God’s story and God’s purposes. Too often people feel like living a life aligned with God’s purposes is too difficult to grasp, so John developed Seed as a vehicle to help give people the agency, support, resources, networks and confidence to create a new chapter to their stories. His hope and prayer is that Seed will help many to step into their God-given purpose, for the sake of the world and the glory of God. Prior to founding Seed John was engaged in working for social change as National Director of Micah Challenge Australia for almost 6 years. John led and developed a growing coalition of Christian development agencies, churches and individuals to campaign on multiple issues affecting the global poor. He has a Masters in Theology from Regent College in Canada. John lives in Sydney with his beautiful wife Allie and three daughters. In this episode: John shares his blueprint of his purpose of living God’s purpose for him and to serve others and implement social change How John lives his purpose of helping others through his organisation Seed. Seed is an enabler and incubator for social and cultural change that aligns with God's purposes for the world. The importance of having a deep understanding of ourselves through stories and how we use those stories to frame ourselves to the outside world that creates your foundation. Why it is important to align yourself with everything you do through your deep foundation story What daily practices John uses to stay in alignment and lead his team The importance of trusting in your feelings to stay in alignment with your purpose Why you need to find courage to let go of things that don’t serve you The importance of a supportive network and community when making changes How to use social media to engage and join in the conversations in the areas you want to change Using data to support your intuition and decision making processes Measure outcomes and impact, not activity Why John recommends carving out time for imagination to enable change and big thinking The 10 minute challenge - how can I bless/serve the people in front of me for the next 10 minutes Today’s Get on Purpose Action (GOPA): Ask yourself who am I and what story are you telling Spend time imagining something different Do the 10 minute challenge three times before the New Year. Get the low down on the first Mystic South ast spring, a few of us Southern Pagans were gathered at a local festival discussing the various conferences and festival goings-on. Which part of the world would we be travelling to next? During that discussion, it became very clear that we all wished for a Southern-based conference – one that was not only easier to attend but also had a Southern flair and spoke of the mystic spirit of our own part of the country. Since there is no such event to meet that need, we decided to create it. From Florida to Virginia, South Carolina to Texas, From the cities of New Orleans, Charleston, Atlanta, Asheville. and beyond. From the Appalachian Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley, From the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Ocean, to the low country and plains, Welcome to Mystic South. Presentations, vendors, workshops, academic panels, music, rituals and fun. Make your plans now to come on down and join us in Atlanta, the city of the rising Phoenix, for a chance to experience the new, mystic South in all its many amazing forms. Welcome to Weird Web Radio! I'm your host, Lonnie Scott. This episode features John Beckett! John was wonderful to interview. I had a hard time bringing it to an end while keeping a lot of questions on the table to explore. That means a part 2 in the future for sure. In fact, John and I discussed a possible episode I think many of you will enjoy if and when we find the time to put it together. Yeah, I know that's a little vague. Surprises must be surprises. John Beckett's own description from his blog: "I grew up in Tennessee with the woods right outside my back door. Wandering through them gave me a sense of connection to Nature and to a certain Forest God. I’m a Druid graduate of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, the Coordinating Officer of the Denton Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans and a former Vice President of CUUPS Continental. I’ve been writing, speaking, teaching, and leading public rituals for the past thirteen years. I live in the Dallas – Fort Worth area and I earn my keep as an engineer." John Beckett is a modern Pagan writer and Druid Priest that dares to go deeper with questions on spirituality, the Gods, how to worship, magic, morals and ethics, politics, and challenging our worldviews. We explore everything from breaking free from fundamentalist Christianity, Human Sacrifice, and hearing the Gods all the way to his own personal journey. I hope you enjoy the show!
