Mikey, Tom, and Justin talk music, hockey, and anything else that gets in their way. Tom and Mikey are lifelong friends that grew up on Long Island during the glory days of alternative music where our local bands were As Tall As Lions, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, The Sleeping, Envy on the Coast, you get the point. We spent many nights together at The Downtown, catching any pop-punk, indie, hardcore, or emo band that came through. This was not a phase, Mom! Fast forward 20 years and we are still just as passionate about the scene as we were during our girl jeans and youth XL band tees days. Tom and Mikey are diehard New York Islanders fans, but Justin (Bolts fan) likes to remind us that we are #notanislespodcast. As we got older we realized we can like more than one thing and running beside our love for music has always been our love for hockey. We have realized we are not alone in this thinking, actually there are many of us that love these two things! This podcast explores just how connected they are!NEW EPISODE EVERY TUESDAY! Scott Leger is a Director and Screenwriter whose work has screened at Cannes Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, SeriesFest, and Palm Springs International Film Festival. Drawn to filmmaking after a horrific mountain biking accident in high school derailed his illustrious Junior Varsity sports career, Scott transferred his manic passion from the field to the frame and hasn't exhaled since. And his collarbone healed up quite nicely, thanks for asking. He would later go on to drop out of Hampshire College to live at home and wait tables while immersing himself in visual storytelling and screenwriting. Eventually he got around to re-enrolling and graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Freaking Arts degree. Scott considers his existentially meandering college years as well as his playfully mischievous youth to be the perfect incubators for his authentic brand of storytelling.Finding himself too weird to be a normal person and too normal to be a weird person, Scott sought refuge in the arts, hiding at the end of a camera lens and a blinking cursor. His days of mountain bike stunts are [likely] over. His credits include Sony Pictures, MTV, and Bravo. Today was the NCAA Basketball Championship and Kansas prevailed over North Carolina in a great game. Though they entered the tournament ranked #1, they were down at half-time. So let's talk about half-time. I remember when I played basketball in high school. The team wasn't great, but we did manage to win a few games. In one particularly bad season on the Junior Varsity team, we were winning and I recall the coach calling timeout, only to tell u to keep doing what we were doing. Seemed strange at the time, but I think the point was that we had what it took to win, and we needed to recognize what we were doing to win and keep doing it. in life, we have the ability to impose timeouts, and there are milestones in life that we can treat like half times to evaluate, regroup, confirm the goal, and finish. We must take the time to evaluate how we are doing in reference to the goals we have and then we must regroup, that is to focus our attitude and actions in a manner that supports our goals and we must finish. The score at half-time doesn't determine the outcome of the game, it is the score at the end of the game that counts, and at the end of the game, whether the outcome is as we intended or we fall short, it is always good to know we lived with intention and gave it our best shot. Be intentional about the halftime moments you have in life - Evaluate, Regroup, and Finish.

Additionally, he has coached for the Centre for Performance Program and the University of Winnipeg men's programs. He is an instructor for Canada Basketball's Coach Certification system, and he is a regular in the summer camp circuit. He was voted Junior Varsity boy's coach of the year twice, and in 2010 and 2013 was a finalist for the Sport Manitoba Coach of the Year school system award. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/basketball-manitoba/message
It's Week Nine of the college football season, and one of our favorite weeks of the year for Carla and Crappy -- the week we get to preview Penn State-Ohio State. But wait -- no Carla, right? No worries -- this week's guest host is more than qualified to sit in as the designated Penn State fan. Kelly Krieg is not only the biggest Penn State fan we know, but she is the reason that Crappy has seen two white-outs in the past few years. After an accounting of the best things we saw last weekend, Kelly and Crappy turn their attention to the Nittany Lions, their game against Illinois, the future of James Franklin in Happy Valley … and the dumb that is the new college football overtime rules. After AJ emphatically tells us to not watch this weekend's Big B1G games and this week's Big Red Report, Kelly and Crappy go through … wait for it … a slate of Big Ten games. And this is also when Crappy decides to totally blow off W.C. Fields' warnings about working with children or animals -- because this week, we have both. Charlie makes one of his fairly routine appearances, and Kelly's dogs Tasha and Phee jump in on the action; we also get bonus picks from Aidan Krieg, Kelly's younger son and fan of the show, and the first-every video appearance from Ellie Fox, mostly because Carla couldn't let this week go by without a brief appearance on her show. The games: No. 6 Michigan at No. 8 Michigan State (BIG NUDE, aka Noon Saturday, Fox) On paper, the schools up north are remarkably similar. But in Spartyland, Mel Tucker is years ahead of schedule, while in Ann Arbor, Jimmy Harbaugh is struggling to win rivalry games. The pressure is all on Jimmy, and since he returned to Michigan, that's not a good thing for the Wolverines. No. 9 Iowa at Wisconsin (Noon Saturday, ESPN) A chilly day in Madison. Two teams populated by hulking farm boys playing solid team defense. An AJ Fun Index of 36.5. We pick the game differently, but we agree that AJ might be right about this one -- because it's going to be brutal. No. 20 Penn State at No. 5 Ohio State (7:30 p.m. Saturday, ABC) We're picking with our hearts as we do on this show, in spite of not knowing if Sean Clifford will be able to walk on Saturday, much less play as well as he needs to to keep up with an Ohio State offense that's averaging 50 points a game. Is Crappy outnumbered? If you count Ellie, the answer is yes. We wrap up the show with a little hockey talk (Kelly's dark secret is that she's a bigger hockey fan than she is a football fan) and then start to get ready for the show's annual Biggest Show of the Year. Massive thanks to Kelly for her help this week -- she was as good as Crappy thought she would be. And to the #CnCShow's Junior Varsity: Aidan, Ellie, Charlie, Tasha and Phee, we hope to see you guys back on the show soon. Hey, AJ -- think we could get George or Reba lined up for guest picks?
Coach Evans and I discuss last week's 42-7 win over Big Sky. Evans shares how his team is progressing as Crosstown and the playoffs loom. And we finish with thoughts on Crosstown, a coaches view of Crosstown, and some memorable moments from Crosstown's past. I hope you enjoy!

As broadcast July 5, 2021. We wish all our Canadian & American listeners a happy belated Canada Day & 4th of July, respectively, then remember Jim Morrison to start the show 50 years after his passing at his girlfriend's apartment in Paris. At the end, it was almost pure speculation guessing what had killed Morrison, as he never received an autopsy and had lived a dangerously wild life until transforming at the age of 27, the third such rock star in 6 months' time. For our New Muses Monday first hour, we had a variety of very good cuts out this past week, most notably Big Red Machine & Taylor Swift teaming up for a lovely ballad called Renegade, and we also featured new tunes from SAULT & Slow Pulp, amongst other luminaries. Yejin joined us for our Popcast 2nd hour with a lot of great new tunes in tow along with our OST & Gossip section material as well. #feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Jim Morrison – The Ghost SongHoly Hive – Ain't That The WaySAULT – Trap LifeChicano Batman – Dark StarBig Red Machine feat Taylor Swift – RenegadeJunior Varsity feat spilltab – Weather Part II (30:03)Yellow Days – I'll Be Loving YouSlow Pulp – IowaPond – ToastKishi Bashi – For Every Voice That Never SangSteve Gunn – Other YouMaston feat L'éclair – GhostDeclaime & Madlib – Declaime Speaks Part III (61:08)Baby Ariel - PerfBazzi - Beautiful (ft. For more than two months, our Bridge Family has been in quarantine and shelter-in-place. And, as we all look at returning to some sense of normalcy, we wanted to chat with three of our Junior Varsity student-athletes to see what they've learned and experienced. Shelter-in-place has presented us with many challenges but also a chance to experience new things, like Tik Tok. Big thanks to Alexis, Palos and Thomas. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bridgebroadcast/support
