Four emails. A text. A phone call he hung up on. The job was done, the product was installed, and my invoice was sitting there getting ignored (again)! Then I sent one message and had a response in about two minutes. In this episode I walk through a payment situation that went sideways last month with a dealer I'd already done four installs for. Same pattern every time: he's on top of everything until the bill shows up, then he vanishes. This time I ran out of patience. But here's the part I didn't expect when I sat down to record — about halfway through telling the story, I had to admit I owned a piece of this.I never told him our terms. I assumed he remembered from the last four jobs. He assumed net 30. Nobody said it out loud, and that's how a simple invoice turns into a fight.I also get into how I structure payments now — why I take 75% up front and deliberately leave 25% on the table, even though Lowe's, Amazon, and every online retailer collects 100% before you ever see the product. There's a reason for that 25%, and it's not just goodwill. If you've ever chased money for work you already delivered, this one's for you.⏱️ CHAPTERS0:00 — Ghosted on an invoice (again)0:35 — My book "Nobody Told Me That" is live on Amazon1:20 — The dealer who disappears when the bill arrives2:27 — Four emails, a text, and a phone call3:40 — The message that got an instant response4:48 — Where I was actually wrong6:00 — Net 30 vs. pay on completion: there's no right answer7:16 — Why I take 75% up front and leave 25% on the table8:45 — The leverage problem nobody warns you about9:40 — Your turn — tell me in the comments

93.7 The Fan MLB analyst Matt Clement joined the show. Matt was very impressed by Mason Montgomery's dominant 8th inning last night. He was unsure why Montgomery did not come out for the 9th, and he is also unsure of why Gregory Soto didn't pitch the 8th inning. Matt thinks that Wilber Dotel is the Pirates' high leverage right-hander as of right now, with Yohan Ramirez kind of serving as the swiss army knife. Matt also disagreed with the decision to pull Valdez to pinch-run Billy Cook on second base in the 8th. More w/ Matt – Ken Rosenthal said that the Pirates are aggressively pursuing Luke Weaver. Poni asks Matt if the Pirates would be willing to Pay Luke Weaver 12.5 million dollars next season, to which he is not sure. Matt says that he would do anything in his power to trade either Murf Gray or Florentino to get Miller, but he would not trade Seth Hernandez. More w/ Matt – Is it possible that the Pirates end up trading Brandon Lowe at the deadline? Matt thinks that they would probably have to lose the next 3 to the Reds to consider moving Lowe.

I honed my marketing chops at The Home Depot. I spent six years of my life in an orange apron. Six years reflighting media, plussing up paid search, and trying to predict the exact week spring will arrive so we can flip end caps from snow blowers to mulch. If you've ever worked retail, you know brand loyalty doesn't end when you clock out for the last time. Brand loyalty like that is tattooed on you.So the fact that I'm sitting here, having a perfectly civilized conversation with today's guest, is honestly a small miracle. He's Lowe's. He's my sworn enemy. He's the vest to my apron. The blue to my orange. And even though I've been out of the home improvement game for six years, I still feel like I'm going to get caught when I walk into that big blue box store. Old habits die hard. But here's the thing about rivalries: The good ones make you pay attention to the other side. And I have to hand it to Lowe's: what they're building right now, especially in AI, deserves respect. Everyone is talking about AI. Every panel, every keynote, and every LinkedIn post has a suspiciously confident hot take. We're exhausted by it, but we can't stop talking about it because there's just so much still unfolding, too many new use cases showing up every single week. And I hate to break it to you, but if you're still only using AI to make your mean email sound nice, you're behind. Big time. The real conversation isn't about whether to use AI. It's about how to get started. Are no legacy systems weighing you down? Do you have decades of process and infrastructure you can't just rip out and rebuild overnight? Or are you somewhere in the middle? How do you align strategy, product and partnerships while bringing a legacy organization along for the ride? We sat down with Lowe's Senior Director of AI, Sravan Vadigepalli to find out.

The evening session of the ongoing three-day Summer Course featured an insightful panel discussion on ‘Inner Awakening and Righteous Living - Dharma as the Compass for Daily Life'. Moderated by Prof Rani P L (Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences and Languages & Literature, and Director, Anantapur Campus), the panel brought together Ms Sai Swaroopa Iyer (Program Lead, INDICA) Ms Sai Geetha M N (Senior Director, Software Engineering, Lowe's India) Dr Lathasree (Senior Medical Officer, Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital) and Ms Vidyulatha Narayan (Manager, Education Division, East Sussex County, UK.)Drawing upon Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's teachings, the speakers explained that Dharma is not merely a code of conduct but the very expression of one's innate divinity. They reiterated Swami's message that righteousness in the heart leads to peace in the world, while emphasising trikarana shuddhi—the unity of thought, word, and action—as the hallmark of a noble life. The panel elaborated on various dimensions of Dharma, including Swarupa Dharma, the realisation of one's true divine nature, and Deha Dharma, the responsibility of caring for the body and mind through pure food, conduct, thoughts, speech, and balanced living. Quoting examples from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagawad Gita, the speakers explained that true Dharma lies in performing one's duties selflessly, with detachment, and offering every action to the Divine while upholding universal human values. Concluding the discussion, the panel affirmed that Dharma ultimately becomes the foundation for inner awakening, enabling one to listen to the voice of conscience, purify the mind, and manifest the divinity within. By making Dharma the natural way of life, they noted, humanity can move from individual transformation to universal harmony and lasting peace.

Most enterprise AI strategy looks the same on a slide: pillars, a center of excellence, a list of pilots. Chandhu Nair has to turn that picture into shipped product across more than 1,700 stores. As SVP of Store Technology, AI, Data and Innovation at Lowe's, Chandhu runs everything through one filter: shop, sell, work. If a project doesn't land in one of those three buckets, it doesn't get funded. That discipline produced six lighthouse areas and 20 crown jewel use cases, scored on ROI, technology readiness, organizational change readiness, and brand risk.We get into what that looks like in practice. How the Milo Companion app started as a store scorecard tool and got redirected by the head of store operations, who said it would only matter if it could answer questions about every product in the building. How Chandhu pitched a two-store pilot at 60% accuracy and grew it into five million associate questions. How watching associates talk to their Zebra devices instead of typing forced a roadmap pivot to two-way voice. And how Pro Companion cut call prep from two hours to minutes, while Materials AI turns a contractor's handwritten list into a quote in minutes instead of days. The Watson Weekly interview is sponsored by Avalara - the agentic AI platform automating global tax and compliance for leading eCommerce brands. For more details: https://avalara.watsonweekly.com.Also in this one: why Chandhu measures leading indicators before lagging ones, when he kills a project, and what the Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group acquisitions mean for agents sourcing across three catalogs at once. His closing advice is worth the listen on its own. Don't take any of this as a playbook.

Additionally, on January 2, 2026, he was granted 3,052,734 follow-on stock options with an exercise price of $28.51 (~$40M). Board of Directors shortly after, serving as an independent director from 2007 until the company merged with WarnerMedia. Both men belong to the tight-knit professional circle surrounding cable pioneer and billionaire John Malone.Paul Gould has a long history as a trusted director across Malone's web of companies, serving for years on the boards of Liberty Global and Liberty Latin America.David Zaslav has publicly and frequently cited John Malone as his primary professional mentor.Their shared ties to Malone are so closely linked that in 2012, Zaslav partnered with other high-level executives to donate $1 million to the Cable Center specifically to build and name the John Malone Theater.Paul Gould has served as a Managing Director and Executive Vice President at Allen & Company, a premium boutique investment bank deeply embedded in the media and entertainment ecosystem. Through this avenue, Gould and Zaslav connect in two ways:Financial Advisory: Allen & Company has a long history of providing valuation opinions, advisory services, and market analysis for major transactions initiated by Zaslav during his career. The Sun Valley Conference: Allen & Company famously hosts the annual "Summer Camp for Billionaires" in Sun Valley, Idaho. As a prominent media mogul, Zaslav is a regular, high-profile attendee at this event, which is organized by Gould's firm.Kenneth W. LoweKen Lowe is the former Chair/CEO of Scripps Networks Interactive (the former parent company of massive lifestyle brands like HGTV, Food Network, and ID).The Link: In 2018—four years before the Warner Bros. deal even closed—Zaslav orchestrated Discovery's $14.6 billion acquisition of Scripps Networks. As a direct result of that blockbuster cable industry consolidation, Lowe joined Discovery Inc.'s board of directors. He and Zaslav had already been working together closely at the board level for years before the legacy company expanded into WBD.The board of AT&TRichard W. FisherOutside of WBD, Zaslav's connection to Fisher is rooted in Fisher's previous role as a member of the Board of Directors for AT&T. When Zaslav was hammering out the complex transaction to spin WarnerMedia away from AT&T, Fisher was one of the crucial board leaders on the other side of the table who evaluated and signed off on the deal. As part of the closing agreement, Fisher was designated by AT&T to transition directly over to the new WBD board.Debra L. LeeDebra Lee was the longtime Chair/CEO of BET Networks (Black Entertainment Television) from 2006 to 2018.Zaslav and Lee have long-standing commitments to The Paley Center for Media, sharing space as members of its highly prestigious Board of Trustees. Additionally, Lee served on the board of AT&T, meaning she was part of the corporate governance team that initially approved Zaslav's pitch to merge Discovery with WarnerMedia.Geoffrey Y. YangJust like Richard Fisher and Debra Lee, Yang's primary pre-WBD connection to Zaslav comes down to AT&T. Yang sat on AT&T's board during the high-stakes dealmaking window. Because of his background in digital media and venture capital, he was designated by AT&T leadership to transition to the WBD board to help Zaslav steer the newly formed company's streaming and direct-to-consumer technology strategies. The board that ignores Say on Pay votesAt our 2025 Annual Meeting held on June 2, 2025, we held an advisory vote on executive compensation, or "Say on Pay" vote, and a majority of the votes cast by stockholders were cast against our executive compensation program. Our executive compensation program is designed to pay for performance and effectively balance executive and stockholder interests.
