This is one thing you need to know right now about Melissa Ambrosini: her podcast has had over 14 million downloads. What! That puts her in Oprah territory (and the US media giant is her dream guest, of course) and says everything about how beautifully she connects with women everywhere. Melissa's message is simple and directed straight at people like me, who at times hear that inner critic saying you're not good enough. That you'll never find the dream man. That you'll never be out of debt, never fall pregnant, never feel beautiful. That you're never enough. Totally wrong, says the Australian entrepreneur and coach. I love what she stands for and teaches to clients all over the world. So I invited her to be my guest on the latest Powerful Stories podcast. If you're someone who has as at times been devastated by that tiny sledging voice inside your head, you'll get so much value out of what Melissa—author of the bestselling Mastering Your Mean Girl—tells me. We talk Melissa's amazing four-step CAST process to crush your inner mean girl and master self-love, decluttering your life, what she does in the car with her husband (I admit I do it too), how to stop being a people pleaser and her verdict on “one of the most powerful phrases” you can say. “I want to encourage everyone to practise saying ‘no thank you' and getting really good at it,” says Melissa. “When you say ‘no thank you' to someone else, you are saying, ‘Yes' to yourself. What a great conversation with Kristi Kirby, mom, Tech Exec, Soccer Fan and what I call expert storyteller. Join us to hear the conversation and learn about her:· Fascination observing her children and how it renews her energy.· LOVE for soccer and watching it as a family.· Career advice about patience and ambition.· Approach to Storytelling for results.· CRUCIAL TIP: finding the purpose/reason to why you want to share something.· Techniques for fully connecting to her audience.· Use of metaphors and analogies to increase understanding (including with her daughter).· Prep for getting a famous quarterback aligned to tech customers in his talk.· Approach to connecting using emotions and the other person's language (ie. visual, auditory, kinesthetic).· Belief that common language is KEY to connection, clarity, action, results!· Simple use of a picture of a red solo cup to get a BIG point across.· ‘Slow and low' technique…. you have to hear it!· Continued results using this approach that leave an impact.· Analogy about change and a 2-lane road. Kristi offers such a great approach to using storytelling, metaphors and analogies to clearly bring to life a message or to make a connection with an audience using ‘common language'. THIS will be one of your great tools/skills of the future! The conversation is important, as Storytelling is becoming a clear skill and approach needed to bring not only people together in alignment through language, emotions, connection and our intelligences (practical, analytical, creative) in providing the FULL picture of what we are sharing in a way that is clearly understood. Just how do you deal with the incessant, insufferable noise from your inner critic?! Everybody has a “mean girl” or “mean guy” inside of them. It is often a voice of profound negativity — not of deliberately malicious intent, it just constantly reminds you that you're Not Good Enough. The voice of the inner critic keeps you operating in your comfort zone and out of what it perceives as dangerous circumstances. But the comfort zone is the last place you should be if you are intent on growing and making changes in your life! In this episode, I'm giving a shout-out to Melissa Ambrosini's book Mastering Your Mean Girl, which details her process of coming to terms with her inner “mean girl,” since it has been a valuable tool for me. I'll be discussing some of the many ways your inner “mean girl” can exercise a chokehold on your life. I'll summarize Melissa's four-step CAST process for identifying and engaging with your inner “mean girl.” (I named mine Edith, and you get to name yours as well!) And I'll be discussing how you can leverage that “mean girl” power for productive, healthy ends. The best part of learning to deal with your inner “mean girl” or “mean guy” is that as you bring her or him into compliance with the other parts of your inner Self, you will find that you are kinder and more compassionate to other people within your four walls. Isn't that crazy?! As you love yourself, you will be able to love others better. That's awesome. You've got this! Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android! Join my FREE parenting bootcamp! We are so excited to be talking to best selling author, key note speaker and entrepreneur Melissa Ambrosini who shares with us some incredible advice on self-love, controlling the ego, mastering health and ways to reach your ultimate dream life. Melissa thought her life was going great in 2010 when she was a professional dancer, TV presenter and actress. However her lifestyle consisted of junk food, sleeping 4 hours a night on a friend's couch and partying hard. When she found herself in hospital incredibly sick with a baffling array of illnesses, she knew she had hit rock bottom. For the first time in her life she discovered her intuition and refused to accept that she needed to be on medication for the rest of her life and decided instead to take control of her health. Melissa now looks back on her struggles as the biggest and most beautiful life lesson to transform herself to where she is now. Studying holistic nutrition and reading every book on health and wellness, Melissa talks to us about how she rediscovered her true self and became a wealth of knowledge and inspiration for other women. She released her book "Mastering your Mean Girl", became a certified holistic health coach and teaches women one on one all about self-love and controlling limited fear based beliefs. She is seeing a remarkable transformation in every women she works with.
