On December 27th, President Trump signed H.R. 133 (Save Our Stages) into law, which provides billions of dollars of relief to arts venues, organizations, museums, and cinemas. There is significant relief for the arts contained in the bill including an extension of Federal Pandemic Unemployment programs (with an additional $300 to all weekly benefits), $284 billion for forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans (allowing many apply for a second loan), and $15 billion in relief grants for entities and individuals operating live performance venues, performing arts organizations, museums, independent movie theaters, and talent agencies plus an increase of $5.2 million each in funding for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities ($167.5 million each in FY2021). Last week, the Small Business Association (SBA) issued some clarification on Save Our Stages. First, the actual name of what we know as Save Our Stages is the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant or (SVOG). The Small Business Association also released a new priority structure for SVOG. Now applicants with more than 50 employees will not receive grants for the first 60 days. Since there are still some unanswered questions about the SVOG rollout, I would suggest you bookmark the Small Business Association website. This March, Arts North Carolina is hosting its first online arts day conference, which will connect the community, arts advocates, and lawmakers. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the nuts and bolts of arts advocacy in our state. When we plant a seed, do we sit and watch and wait for it to grow? And do we expect the seed we planted to yield fruit that day? We'd go hungry if we expected apples from an apple seed the day we planted it. Yet so many of us expect immediate results from planting the word in the hearts of men and women. Today's guest speaker from Gideons International explains how a five dollar Bible can sow a crop with a tremendous yield, and a personal testimony from our pastor illustrates his point perfectly. So grab your Bible, turn it to first Corinthians, chapter three, and join us as we look at planting seeds. 1 Corinthians 3:1-9 Recorded at Ebenezer UMC on January 18, 2015 (Originally published February 8, 2015) S.D.G.
In order to meet the demand for vaccinating residents, Macon County is cutting back on contact tracing. On Monday, Macon County Public Health department announced it would no longer issue press releases about COVID-19 clusters in order to move three nurses from contract tracing duties to COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. "If you could double my staff then I could vaccinate all week long and test all week long." That's Kathy McGaha, director of Macon Public Health. Right now, the department only has enough staff to administer the COVID-19 vaccinations two days each week. They working to expand these hours. "We simply do not have the nursing and support staff to do the disease detective work required to identify where individuals contracted the virus. It is not as simple as editing a press release. It takes a team of staff to do the work required to do that reporting and, we simply do not have the capacity needed," said McGaha in a press release referring to tracing COVID-19 clusters.
What do you do when you can't travel to see friends? You do the next best thing. The Dental Laboratory Association of Texas (https://members.dlat.org/membership/) held their annual conference in October this year. While Elvis and Barb wanted to be there, they couldn't. So the good people at Argen (https://argen.com/#/) set up a computer and microphone at their booth and got people from the event to sit down and do the next best thing we are calling "Live, Not Live" from the Argen booth at the DLAT. Up first we talk with Larry Mercadel CDT. He's retired from the Air Force and he's retired from the bench and loving every minute of it. Still passionate for the industry and the DLAT, Larry is there to learn, mingle, and help the show run. Next up is Scott McGaha, owner of Precision Ortho (http://precisionortho.biz/), who comes on to talk about his lab, how he got started, what they do, and adapting with new technology. Great times from the Argen booth at the DLAT. The UP 3D P5 milling maching (https://www.aurident.com/p5/) from Aurident (https://www.aurident.com/)is a 5 axis, efficient, dry mill. Great for milling zirconia, PMMA and wax. It boasts software that produces high precision and fast milling. It can mill a crown in 14 minutes and the tool life yields about 60-80 hours of quality restorations. A game changer for labs of all sizes, big and small. For under $20K, a small lab can now do their own milling instead of outsourcing and reducing their profits. Quite impressive! Give Aurident a call at 800-422-7373 or you can visit their website at aurident.com. Whip Mix (https://whipmix.com/) introduces the Bellus3D Dental Pro Face Scanning Solution. This new, practical addition to dentistry provides the dentist with a fast, easy, and affordable way to capture a detailed 3D facial scan and the laboratory an intelligent way to create the smile design. With this app, a complete 3D facial (and even whole head) scan can even be captured for virtual model and articulator alignment. You can now put a face to your digital workflow with the Bellus3D Dental Pro. Strange Country co-hosts Beth and Kelly explore this phenomena and uncover deep truths about themselves, mainly that Beth has no idea how to say dachshund. When Jennifer McGaha () discovered that she and her husband owed back taxes―a lot of back taxes―her world changed. Desperate to save money, they foreclosed on their beloved suburban home and moved their family to a one-hundred-year-old cabin in a North Carolina holler. Soon enough, Jennifer's life began to more closely resemble her Appalachian ancestors than her comfortable upbringing. But what started as a last-ditch effort to settle debts became a journey that revealed both the challenges of living close to the land. McGaha never expected to own a goat named Merle. She didn't expect to be buying organic yogurt for her chickens. She never thought she would be pulling camouflage carpet off her ceiling or rescuing opossums from her barn and calling it "date night." Most importantly, Jennifer never thought she would only have $4.57 in her bank account.

You can share this show and find more episodes at celticmusicpodcast.com. And you can support this show on Patreon. Originally, I planned for this to be a Sci fi Celtic music show. But I just couldn't find that many sci fi songs by Celtic bands that I could play. So I decided instead to do a small feature. That'll be later on in the show. * CELTIC PODCAST NEWS The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast comes out each and every week due to the generosity of people like you. Your kind pledge of as little as $1 per episode pays for the production of this podcast, as well as my time in producing the show. You get shows before regular listeners and my deepest thanks. When we hit a milestone, you get a 2-hour special. I want to thank to our newest patrons: Edward Montgomery, Larry McCloskey, Leah Kershner, Ron Sargent! Become a patron today! Yesterday, I went live on Facebook for about an hour as I worked on the shownotes for this week's podcast. I had a nice time chatting with listeners. And best of all, I got some input for new artists to contact for the show. While it might not've been gripping video, it was a valuable way for me to connect with you the listener and new bands. So I want to try this again next Friday, May 12 at 9 am central. I'll put up an event page on Facebook with details. CelticMusicPodcast.com is now fully integrated with Libsyn. My hope is have a more stable website for visitors. I also have bestcelticmusic.net as the side website to help promote the show. Of course this big change means my old music@celticmusicpodcast.com email address is no longer valid. I'm still trying to migrate the CelticMP3s.com reviews. But we'll see if I can find a way to do that. If you want some more May the Fourth Sci Fi Pub Songs, I recorded an episode of the Pub Songs Podcast last year for Star Wars Day. It's show #141. You can find a link in the shownotes. My latest Kickstarter features pub songs inspired by Joss Whedon's TV show, Firefly, and movie, Serenity. I've already hit my goal, but there are some cool Stretch Goals if you'd like music inspired by this cult TV series. * I WANT YOUR FEEDBACK: What are you doing today while listening to the podcast? You can send a written comment along with a picture of what you're doing while listening. Email a voicemail message to celticpodcast@gmail.com Glen Singer wrote on Facebook: "Just listened to my first Celtic music podcast. Am a newbie. Great music - great podcast." Edward Montgomery posted on Facebook: "Love the app! It's installed on my iPhone and I just put it on my wife's phone, she's listening right now." Your Stupid Minds takes a detour off the well-traveled roads of bad movies to seek out William McGaha, a writer, director, producer, and star of three very cheap films in the 1960s and 70s. Fresh off Nudie-Cutie Bad Girls for the Boys and Stock-car racing+gangsters project The Speed Lovers, McGaha's third and final passion project is J.C., a 1972 biker movie about a religious fanatic and Jesus-allegory biker who basically just mooches off everyone. After construction worker J.C. and his cohort are yelled at for smoking during a lunch break, J.C. quits and gets high in his tighty-whities while his former social worker girlfriend runs errands and is a functional adult. J.C. has a vision of a big eye or something and that night at a campfire rouses his biker pals to drive cross-country to his hometown for.... reasons. The bikers immediately upset the local populace, not (only) because they are rude and smell bad, but because they have brought their black friends. Will J.C. and his crew run afoul of Sheriff Caldwell (Slim Pickens, somehow in this movie)? ....Yes.
Welcome to episode 37 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related with a focus on television and movie adaptations of our favorite childhood comic book super heroes. This week the Geeks sit down with former Sexpot Comedy producer Isaac McGaha Miller! Isaac took some time to chat with the Geeks on a variety of topics including his days with Sexpot Comedy, his new life as a coder and most importantly his new website Marvel Mash Up! If you consider yourself a "Make Mine Marvel" guy or gal then head on over to the link provided immediately to get started. Isaac also makes his predictions for this past Sunday's WWE Summerslam at the end of the show so make sure you hit him up on social networking to call him out or praise his genius. Of course this wouldn't be an episode of Broadcast Geeks if we didn't get Isaac's thoughts on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, whether to recline or not to recline in the theater and the ongoing bathroom in the theater debate is addressed. Lots of casting news on Arrow, Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and more. Vin Diesel leaks some MAJOR Guardians of the Galaxy / Avengers news. Probably some Stranger Things talk as well. Here is the link to Isaac's Marvel Mash Up: https://isaacmillercodes.github.io/MarvelMashUp/ As always make sure to visit GeekFuel.com/BCG to sign up for the BEST monthly Geek supply subscription box on the web! Today's episode is with Anora McGaha. She is the eldest daughter of a US diplomat & Arabist and a half Italian mother whose father was an Italian diplomat, and whose grandfather was an expat in Panama. When she learned she was a global nomad and read about it in 1992 at the age of 34 it was as profound a moment in her life as the ugly duckling's story of discovering she was actually a swan. 840 catches. 13,726 yards. 107 touchdowns. Countless big plays and memories. We wrap up the offseason with a truly special episode as we welcome five of the most legendary wide receivers in Sun Devil history. Considering the abundance of amazing players that ASU has enjoyed at that spot, the lineup on this Speak of the Devils episode really stands out. J.D. Hill (2:04): The first Sun Devil to top 1,000 yards receiving in a season, Hill was a sensational gamebreaker who helped lead the 1970 squad to an undefeated season. Keith Poole (28:38): The No. 1 target on ASU's magical 1996 Rose Bowl year, Poole was Jake the Snake's go-to man. His touchdown pose may be the most memorable image in Sun Devil football history. Shaun McDonald (41:35): Walter to McDonald, all day, every day. That duo put up yards at a rate never before seen, and McDonald still holds the record for best single-season in ASU history. Derek Hagan (49:25): By the time he moved on to the NFL, Hagan had become the all-time leading receiver in not just ASU history, but in the entire span of the Pac-10. Chris McGaha (1:06:29): You throw it, he'll catch it. McGaha went from local prep star to one of the most reliable, productive, and underrated wide receivers to ever don the maroon and gold.
