Do you understand the true potential of AI for your business? Jeffrey and Dan explore the practical applications of AI for entrepreneurs and discuss how it can streamline operations, improve productivity, and solve complex problems across various industries. Learn to navigate the current AI hype and discover how to leverage this technology as a powerful tool for driving business growth and innovation. Show Notes: AI is primarily a complexity solver, excelling in areas involving multiple interwoven systems.Effective AI applications include traffic systems, air traffic control, healthcare, military operations, and gaming.Entrepreneurs should evaluate AI based on whether it makes processes faster, easier, and cheaper and produces bigger results.Entrepreneurs should focus on backstage AI applications to improve human front stage performance.Creating newsletters with AI can significantly reduce team workload and achieve high engagement rates.AI search engines like Perplexity provide concise, relevant information quickly compared to traditional search engines.AI uses an enormous amount of electricity, potentially straining current power grids.Modular nuclear reactors may be a potential solution to AI's energy demands. Many AI start-ups may not survive long-term; successful companies will likely consolidate multiple AI applications.AI is an extension of human thinking, not a replacement.Avoid getting caught up in trying every new AI tool. Instead, focus on applications that provide tangible benefits to your business.AI can make productive people significantly more productive, but may make unproductive people more unproductive. It's important to balance AI insights with human judgment and experience when making decisions about your business. Resources: PerplexityBook: Cue the Sun!: The Invention of Reality TV by Emily NussbaumBook: Which Lie Did I Tell?: More Adventures in the Screen Trade by William GoldmanLearn more about Jeffrey MadoffDan Sullivan and Strategic Coach®

Julie Brown is a high energy Keynote Speaker who teaches the importance of networking. She is also the author of This Sh*t Works: A No Nonsense Guide to Networking Your Way to More Friends, More Adventures, and More Success, as well as the host of the This Sh*t Works podcast. Prior to her burnout, Julie was overworking herself to the point that she jokingly was jealous of a woman who had awoken from a three day coma, because at least that woman got to sleep. She and her husband were working such hectic schedules that they would not see each other at all during the week. Everything changed when the pandemic hit and Julie realized that the hustle lifestyle had tricked her.    Hustle culture is causing people to overwork themselves until they burn out. Julie was going ‘balls to the wall' for everything every day of her life, except when it came to resting. She shares that the pandemic was a real wake up call, because she and her husband were unsure how they would ever go back to that jam-packed scheduled to the minute lifestyle. In addition to talking about Julie's burnout story, Cait and Julie talk about the importance of networking, how to build a community, and the underestimated strength of weak connections.    Have you ever thought a three day coma sounded appealing? Tune into today's episode of FRIED. The Burnout Podcast for a conversation with Julie Brown about building relationships, the dangers of hustle culture, and allowing yourself to rest.  Quotes • “Your question to me was, ‘Oh, do you have a burnout story?' And it was like, ‘Oh, you mean the time I was getting ready for work, and I heard the story about a woman who had just woken up from a three day coma. And I was jealous of her, because she got to sleep.' And then I said to myself, ‘well, that's what I need. I just need a well timed coma. And then I'll just rest and then I'll be able to get up and I'll be good to go.' And I knew something was wrong in my life where I didn't have time to rest unless there was a medically induced coma in my future.” (2:37-3:21 | Julie) • “There was a point when I was hoping for a coma that I said, ‘Why am I working so hard for someone else? Why do I have this drive to do this for someone else? Can I convert this energy into something else for myself?'.” (6:11-6:29 | Julie) • “You need to have that community in place before a crisis hits, because it's very hard to build a community in crisis.” (19:40-19:48 | Julie) • “Asking for what you need, what would be helpful to you, because you have already given back to your network, because your network wants to be there for you, is invested in your success, whether that success is your mental success, whether it's your financial success, that's not needy.” (21:01-21:19 | Julie) • “It's okay for us to be in places of need sometimes and be in places of abundance sometimes, as long as when we're in places of abundance, we are giving back to our community and giving back to our network.” (21:21-21:32 | Julie) • “If you are keeping score in your relationship, and you are always expecting tit for tat, you're never going to be happy.” (25:08-25:18 | Julie) • “I always tell people to build their network slowly and with purpose, because you cannot manage growing, fostering a number of relationships and do it correctly. And do it without getting tired, because managing relationships takes a lot of time and energy.” (40:04-40:28 | Julie)   Links https://cuely.ai/FRIED https://bearaby.com   Connect with Julie Brown: Website: https://sayhitojulie.com                    https://juliebrownbd.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/juliebrown_bd/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/juliebrownbd/   XOXO, C   If you know that it's time to actually DO something about the burnout cycle you've been in for too long - book your free consult today: bit.ly/callcait   https://friedtheburnoutpodcast.com/quiz   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

You're probably familiar with the phrase, "It's not what you know, it's who you know." My guest today, Julie Brown, shares just how true this common idiom really is!    85% of companies know that building relationships affects their bottom line and the success and profitability of their company, but only 26% have an actual strategy for building and maintaining relationships.    We're not taught relationship-building and networking in school (at least, not on purpose). Julie Brown fell into the art and science of networking and training others to do it better, by realizing how important it was for the companies she was working for.     The more she grew relationships and learned about others, the more consistently she got new opportunities and bigger projects.  Tune in and hear:  Julie's backstory and how she got to where she is today  Why networking and building relationships are so important What the myths and misconceptions are around networking  How you actually go about building relationships and tangibly growing your network  What she sees as inauthentic in the world of networking and where people most often go wrong  How introverts and extroverts can use their natural tendencies as a superpower when networking  How to ask dopamine-inducing questions rather than killing the mood  And MORE!  You will walk away from this one wanting to hear more! I'm so excited about today's episode because today's topic is so important for every single business owner. And it's one of those things that we dread so much because it leaves us feeling so exposed and so vulnerable. Networking, or as my guest today shares, building personal relationships can be critical whether you're looking for clients, building a referral network, or just trying to get the word out on your business. On today's episode speaker, networking, expert, business strategist, author of This Shit Works: A No-Nonsense Guide to Networking Your Way to More Friends, More Adventures, and More Success, Julie Brown and I take a deep dive into why networking is so important and how you can make it work for you. Julie has over 20 years of networking experience and she even calls herself the networking unicorn, which I love. This episode is going to make you think differently about building your network, how easy follow-up can really be and what you can do now, even in the middle of COVID, to expand your network. This is an important episode so even if you think you're pretty good at this networking stuff, tune in.

Boy meets girl: Why a girlfriend?

This is an introduction to a new series called Boy meets girl, which will be trying to look at the journey that males go through when trying to find a life partner. This episode discusses some of the reasons why someone should think about finding a girlfriend. Share your thoughts with me machona.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Notes used: Having a healthy relationship offers you consistency and stability. It may be more "fun" having a ton of girls texting your phone but it's a lot more stressful trying to make all those girls happy. Get a girlfriend and direct that focus elsewhere. A clear direction of focus Although your single homeboys are making the single life seem awesome (as it is), having a healthy relationship with a girl can enhance your overall stability. Girls are the driving force of male behavior. While your male counterparts are out spending money on drinks, spending countless nights sending texts to numerous girls who aren't interested, you have better things to do. Having a girlfriend will allow you to direct your focus on things you enjoy most; such as your art, your career, or any other hobbies you may have. More goal-oriented After spending countless nights pillow talking with your girlfriend, you may begin to open up about your thoughts on the future and, more specifically, your future. Because you have someone who cares for you other than yourself, you now have a partner to join your "dream team" to combat each of your futures. A matured idea on "opposites attract" Your girlfriend is not going to be the same as you, in fact she may be the polar opposite. The two of you will come from a different culture, family and social background. A shoulder to cry on Okay maybe not cry, but at least one to lean on. So many mishaps occur for a guy in his early twenties. Whether it be getting arrested, getting fired from your job, or just being a complete idiot, you need that person around who won't pass judgment and serve as your distraction from destruction. Money Saver Some would disagree, but having a girlfriend is more cost effective for your wallet. In no way am I implying you grab some sugar mama, or start using some low self-esteem girl for her bank account, but more of a "utilize your resources" type approach. More Adventures, Always having a "homie" I mean, who's really going to go see "The Great Gatsby" with you? Surely not any of your male friends. Having a girlfriend allows you to indulge in so many other activities that you can't do with your male friends. Ability to become selfless Finally, this is the best quality to obtain from a relationship. We live in such an individualistic society and for millennials that means complete selfishness. Selfishness is an ugly trait and will only lead to bad things happening in this society. Read More from Elite Daily --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/machona/message

Book Club for Masochists: a Readers’ Advisory Podcast

In this episode we discuss Space Opera and all the endless tangents. This is a LONG conversation (we almost split it in two, but we’re trying to catch up episodes to our current reading topic). We talk about losing our solid footing on genre definitions, defining the term “worldbuilding”, when re-reading books from your youth goes horribly wrong, wondering just what is up with those TV and movie tie-ins, misogyny infecting Sci-Fi classics (Oh, hello there Sad Puppies), the delight of scientists reading Sci-Fi, and so much more. Your Hosts This Episode Anna Ferri | Meghan Whyte | Matthew Murray | Amanda Wanner Space Opera We Read (or kinda): Recommended Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding (lukewarm recommendation by a reader who is deeply ambivalent about anything speculative, Sci-Fi, or Fantasy in nature) Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke (not spectacular but a slow-burn, exploratory read) Diving into the Wreck by Kristine Kathryn Rusch (difficult to like narrator warning) Ancillary Mercy (and the entire Ancillary Justice series) (HIGHLY recommended series) Accessing the Future: A Disability-Themed Anthology of Speculative Fiction edited by Kathryn Allan Lightless by C.A. Higgins Read Sassinak by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Moon Knights of Sidonia, Vol. 1 by Tsutomu Nihei, translated by Kumar Sivasubramanian Space Opera edited by Brian W. Aldiss (Features stories from 1900 (!) - 1972. Most are from the 1950s) More Adventures on Other Planets edited by Donald A. Wollheim Stitching Snow by R. C. Lewis (Not so much Space Opera and not enough girl mechanic) The Year’s Best Military SF & Space Opera 2015 edited by David Afsharirad Did Not Finish Armada by Ernest Cline (read this Wikipedia article about a video game urban legend instead) Red Rising by Pierce Brown Use of Weapons by Iain M. Banks (would try another one by this author) The Star Dancers by Spider Robinson and Jeanne Robinson The Sheriff of Yrnameer by Michael Rubens  A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge (so long - for 900+ pages, would prefer to try the better known A Fire Upon the Deep, which was recommended by another group member) The Warrior’s Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold (recommended to us - ran out of time this month; try it as an audiobook?) Koko the Mighty by Kieran Shea (really enjoyed Koko Takes a Holiday) Other titles and media mentioned Mass Effect video games are totally Space Opera, especially if you read all the internal game encyclopedia entries like Matthew. The Mote in God’s Eye by Larry Niven, and Jerry Pournelle The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin (not exactly Space Opera but totally recommended) Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein - Military Sci-Fi or Space Opera?? Space Opera by Jack Vance - An opera troupe in Space Red Spider White Web by Misha Nogha The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (Have you not read this yet? It’s short - go read it!) District 9 movie Firefly TV series & Serenity movie & the Firefly comics (pretty much all recommended highly) Please skip Sassinak and read Elizabeth Moon’s excellent connected series set in the world of Paksenarrion (Fantasy not Sci-Fi), or at least read the three books of The Deed of Paksenarrion. All those zillion Pern books (Science Fantasy series) by Anne McCaffrey Dune by Frank Herbert (hefty but worth a read - recommended) The Martian by Andy Weir (about space but not Space Opera and definitely recommended) Transformers: More than Meets the Eye, Vol. 1 (comic book series) (recommended even if you don't care about Transformers. Really! ) Ascension (Tangled Axon, #1) by Jacqueline Koyanagi (Meghan mis-spoke and called this book “Ascendent”) After Man by Dougal Dixon (so cool!) Octavia’s Brood edited by Walidah Imarisha, and Adrienne Maree Brown Samuel Delaney  - We discuss Dhalgren which is not space focused, but Delaney has a few space books to try. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman, and Jay Kristoff (YA Space Opera - read before the month, recommended) A Confusion of Princes by Garth Nix (read after the episode, recommended) Links etc. OK Go Upside Down & Inside Out (music video shot in zero gravity) The review of Ancillary Justice Anna tried to read without being spoiled for the book The Wikipedia article on Space Opera bring up many aspects of the definition we discussed and is worth a skim, at least. Scientists read sci-fi and have opinions about it Read some stuff (here, here, and here are a few to start with) about Sad Puppies if you care about issues of diversity in publishing, book awards, and media more generally. Check it out: Afro futurism Book Riot sympathises with Sci-Fi fans Xenoanthropology Questions What (the heck) is space opera? (We thought we knew! We were so naive.) What is Worldbuilding? Any suggestions of your favourite instances of worldbuilding? Is bug punk real? Who else wants a “Ten Rules to Break When Dating a Space Pirate” from Sarah MacLean? More Adventures in Jerusalem Paul keeps going with the backstory stuff. Fourteen years after he first visited the church in Jerusalem, God tells him to head back there again. This time he takes his pals, Barnabas and Titus, with him. Gotta have the entourage.  Basically, Paul is coming to get their support for his mission to the Gentiles. He's been all around the eastern half of the Roman Empire telling everyone that Gentile converts don't need to follow every single Jewish law. Maybe one or two, but not all 613 for sure. It's important to note that Paul doesn't want their approval. He already knows his message is a-okay by God. He just needs to know they won't interfere with the work he's trying to do. The leaders in Jerusalem are pretty much on board. No one says anything about Titus—who's Greek and not circumcised—so things are going pretty smoothly. So as long as Titus keeps it in his pants, things are gonna be fine. That is, until some naysayers sneak into the mix. But Paul stays strong and eventually the leaders of the church—including James, Cephas, and John—side with him. They recognize all the grace that God has given him as the apostle to the Gentiles and send Paul on his way. Now he and Barnabas are in charge of spreading God's word to the Gentiles. The folks in Jerusalem will work on getting the Jews on board.  Look, Paul might be a Jew by birth, but he knows that simply obeying Jewish law can never make a person right with God. Only having faith in Jesus can do that. If a Christian is faithful, but he still has foreskin and enjoys a ham sandwich every once in a while, well, God still thinks he's aces. After all, God sent Jesus to earth to die. If the law alone could make us besties with God, then what the heck did Jesus go through that whole crucifixion thing for?
